I just wanted to say that this general was a pretty huge fixture in my life for the past half a year. I legit and unironically far prefer thinking of the Team 8 fanfic as what 'actually' happened. It's silly and I don't pretend otherwise, nor is the fic perfect, but caring about this garbage series a decade after I was supposed to outgrow it is even sillier.
After that comes my own fic that takes the reigns just as Naruto and Jiraiya bring Tsunade back to the village to be Hokage, which I also prefer over the canon, obviously. I'd make that the foremost of my preferences, but I can't help but wonder how much of that is my own lack of objectivity.

Kishi having a child taught him the importance of parents in a child's life, hence why Naruto's story went from "lol who gives a shit about his parents" to "Minato and Kushina were LITERALLY the most important things in his life."

Later, Kishi's dad died, which is why you get Minato bawling his regrets to Naruto and Might Dai's whole storyline.

I agree. Still seems like an odd thing for Kishi to complain about/cut out. It couldn't have taken more than a chapter or two compared to say Deidara's flashback. Doesn't save that much time...

True. Probably could have just had Oro do it alone. Or Sakura could do the other two. Or Kabuto could do the other two. The Gokage don't do much afterwards and IT makes beating SZ mean nothing. Hm, if those events still had to happen I wonder if he'd give a better reason as to why.

Oh yeah, you're quite right. It just the 0 to 60 shift in their relevance to Naruto's character and motivations. Like after Kishi's dad died, Minato reminiscences for a chapter on fatherhood or Guy's never referenced, nobody father getting backstory.
