I feel like its kind of hard to determine when you should fill for your team, as opposed to disregarding them and playing whoever you want.

I've decided that for the most part, I'm just going to play whoever I want, because trying to synergize with McCrees and Pharahs who refuse to switch and don't do their jobs is just rage inducing. Why not just disregard your entire team and play whoever you'll have fun with?

Reposting with a bit more context.

Reaper knows Sombra, and they seem to be on good terms (voice line). Reaper works with talon and talon grunts use very similar rifles to the kind found in the diner next to the bomb controls and plans used to blow up the bridge in Route 66 and steal the prototype. (You can see Talon grunt's guns in the recall trailer).

All of the deadlock gang (who seem to be running things on Route 66) were arrested in a sting operation when Overwatch was originally active, except McCree, who was given the chance to switch sides.

In McCree's comic, talon grunts (they are wearing the same masks as the grunts from the recall trailer) attack a (different) train and attempt to steal cargo, a glowing purple box. One of the grunts recognizes McCree and seems genuinely furious to see him. Perhaps in the years after the downfall of Overwatch, the remnants of the deadlock gang have been merged into Talon?

This is further supported by the fact that Reaper, on Route 66 attack, mentions that this is "where he picked up the damn ingrate" (McCree) suggesting that Reaper was involved in the bridge attack, and since he doesn't use assault rifles, it was probable talon was there as well.

The prototype stolen from the train appears to be a container of some sort, as opposed to a bomb/weapon.

My conclusion was that perhaps route 66 (blowing up the bridge, taking the prototype container, and transporting it back to the deadlock gang's (read: Talon's) storage, might all be one big rescue mission for Sombra, or a theft of the prototype Sombra unit--which might be a modified omnic unit created for high end security (hence the Sombra protocol activation when the Nuclear plant on Dorado is in danger.

Flankers are good against Bastion. Bastion is honestly really bad. You can beat him with Tracer, Pharah, 76, Junkrat, Widow, Genji, etc. Torb is a bit more annoying but 76 and Pharah are really good against him. His turrets dont do as much damage as Bastion so you can't cheese him with Genji. Reflect-killing Bastions is my literal favorite thing to do.

It does. I had it happen to me when I was playing Genji yesterday. I pressed E right as I went face-to-face with McCree around a corner and he still had his dagger up while McCree was stunned. My only option to survive that encounter was dashing through him with shift and then climbing a wall outta there.

Not really. The characters that will become more prevalent when McCree is nerfed are worse than he is. Widow's a nuisance to play against, but I only occasionally come across good ones, probably because I'm not that high in MMR.

The problems with this game are pretty fundamental and aren't going away. It was a mistake to go for a rock paper scissors design philosophy for character match ups. I have to switch to McCree to kill harassers every third match, and that will continue after he's nerfed. Counterpicking doesn't encourage character variety, it forces you to play among a small pool of characters who are frequently good counters, at least when you're on soloqueue and can't count on your team to accomplish much for you.

Nah, she's not that bad. She's got that great shield, can ram opponents, does decent work to slower enemies/other tanks (her mobility is a killer against a Reinhardt or a Winston) and is surprisingly capable outside of the mech.

Really, all she needs is a slight boost in her bullet power (even if they keep the drop-off over a distance) and/or the ability to move faster while shooting.

She's not the best tank defense-wise or attack wise, but she's very well-rounded and has good mobility. She can do a lot of different things.

Her gimmick is to be able to get into the midst of combat and disrupt the enemy team and get out.

There's a fine line between making that more of a better role by giving her a regenerating shield, or making it too powerful by allowing her to take a punishing and rush back out.

Her E should give her a temporary shield depending on how much damage she takes in.

NO SUPPORT HEROES, big surprise. Well I'm not picking Mercy or Lucio, I bought this game and I didn't buy it to work a shitty job for angry bosses without even getting paid minimum wage. I bought it to click on people's heads until they die. If your team forces you into the healer role, Zenyatta is there because you can do all the supporting with exactly two clicks, heal ball hurt ball, then go back to clicking on people's heads until they die, none of this garbage hiding behind a Reinhardt for 10 minutes and calling that "playing a FPS". It doesn't matter if Zen is good or not, it just matters that he's an option.

Symmetra is strong, but she isn't very visceral. She doesn't make flashy plays with her ultimate like Mercy. Her shields and turrets seem weak, but are deceptively powerful. I like her quiet power, and grand design playstyle. It really fits her character. I don't think that she needs any changes in order to be made fun.

Remember that not every Hero is for everyone, and nobody is expected to like every Hero. She's likely just not "for" you, and that's not a bad thing.
