Sand worm is piss easy. For some reason it never actively targets you and as long as you're not stupid enough to get hit while its moving you'll never take damage. The ballista is literally only there as a way to open doors via blowing apart the environment

High wall gets me ~25-30 FPS and demon bridge gets me closer to 40-45.

Pontiff also works, I get 40-45 there as well.

Yes, the Cave of the Dead is the easiest by far. It was more or less a proof of concept.

Iron Passage isn't really much harder. Once you know the way you can sprint through to the boss every time. Blue smelter is just Smelter demon with endgame HP and damage, he's not too bad.

I expect the problem with using the Sword of Avowal is that it's one of the few cut content items with an actual equip ID. I wasn't just changing the model, I had something tangible about my character's equipment that the matchmaking server could probably read.

Changes like movesets are probably much less likely to get you in trouble.

Different weapons have different uses and support different playstyles.

Some are low risk but low reward (i.e. Estoc). Some are high risk high reward (i.e. ultra weapons). Some are better against certain playstyles than others. Some are well rounded and others are hard-countered by other styles. The situation is much more complex than a simple "skill required" metric that can be measured on a linear scale.

Some weapons may be easier to win with by simply mashing R1, but any R1 spam with any weapon can always be countered and beaten by a player who knows what they're doing. And just because a weapon can win in a brain dead way such as R1 spam doesn't mean it can't be used skillfully and doesn't require high skill in high level play.

the best bosses are humanoids who wear armour and use swords, there are dragons and medieval castles, and swamps, and frozen cities.

I like that the game has faster enemy and boss design, but I don't see it as making the game feel like a sequel to Bloodborne, rather I see it as the game developers learning from Bloodborne, with the multiple phases and faster design, and applying it successfully to souls.

Where in Bloodborne would you fight something like nameless king, twin princes, soul of cinder or champion gundyr

And how much more do those bosses feel evocative of the spirit of the dark souls series by comparison.

The main question is if it's thematic. And I think a spear with some rotten meat in it to poison the enemy is something you might actually see in a gladiators fight. Could just be a used spear that wasn't cleaned, for example. So there's bits of rotten flesh still on it.

I attacked the same time with a great hammer with a guy who attacked with a ultra greatsword but his attack hit me and interrupted me.

Does full magic build get fun/strong at some point? I got 30att, 30 int and crown of dusk. My spells are still quite meh so I have started to put points in vig since having less than 400hp with cloth armor is quite dangerous.

Only spells I bother using are great heavy soul arrow and farron flashsword. Just beat the Abyss Watchers.

Combat in general is oversimplified due to poor design choices such as poise not working.
This amplifies problems with weapon balance and makes certain weapons or playstyles just flat out better than others.
In addition, From has made magic absolute dogshit without using all your ring slots to boost it, further limiting build variety.
They also nerfed a lot of potentially viable rings, such as steel protection and clutch ring, into oblivion recently. Thus making the choices for viable builds even slimmer.

TL;DR FROM can't into balance and combat mechanics, and they refuse to learn from their mistakes.

I felt that bloodborne's bosses were really easy outside of the dlc, the only two bosses I found difficult were ludwig and orphan.

Comparatively I had a lot of difficult with Nameless King, gundyr and twin princes.

For ludwig, make sure you have a decent high damaging weapon, dodge to his side after he telegraphs his bite/swipe attack, and you can get a few hits in his side, this will eventually stagger him.

The only difficult in the entirety of Ludwig's fight comes from the retarded ceiling attacks and charge attacks, which feel pretty poorly thought out.

Bloodborne's DLC bosses are a step above the bosses of the base game.

A tip though for any base game bosses you might be having difficulty with though, they leave you very very obvious openings in between their attacks SPECIFICALLY for you to heal. Not to attack, to heal. It's a very well designed aspect of the game.

Also as dumb as it sounds Bloodborne bosses are often very flashy and loud with the intent to intimidate. Keep a cool head and you should do fine.
