Whoever decided keeper of uldaman should be a common card definitely never played any arena, screw him. Blizzard not giving any fuck about arena balance really remind me about WoW arena balance where it was obvious you were considered a second zone citizen compared to PvE or even battlegrounds, even though they kept saying it wasn't the case. Only a few changes would help, but they still don't even want to bother. Well I don't care, I play mainly constructed now, but still, blizzard never changes.

I logged into quest for some warlock wins, played zoo.

So far I've lost three in a row to fucking cthun lock builds, all three of which have been wildly different. Did some streamer make this shit happen? I mean it's pretty strong. but kind of odd that it does so well against normal zoo.

This is how it works. Lower your winrate, RNG is more forgiving and gives you the right cards at the right time. Win lots of games and RNG goes from neutral to penalizing you while doing reverse to your opponent depending on his win rate. If your MMR rate is 60% and your chance of getting the right card to counter opponents hand would be at 40% each turn, same goes for your RNG cards. While your opponent win rate is at lets say 40%, he gets higher chance of getting right cards around 60%. Right cards means washing your opponent at every turn in face value of your working hand. Simple math here.
If your win rate goes too high. You get opponents with near perfect draws and can pull easy combos while you struggle to get the right draws. As added bonus, MM matches your deck with a hard counter decks so that you reevaluate your deck often. In other terms, buy more packs to get more cards and build new decks to counter the deck which you lost to. It's a vicious cycle of reorganizing decks and Blizzard matching you with exact counter of your deck depending if you won too many games or not. This is a way for Blizzard to balance matches, has nothing to do with skill, it's all giving the illusion of "worthy challenge" since there is no way of gauging skill (there is little to none), it has to match games in a balance of chance between someone who was too lucky, too successful with his deck or too unlucky. This why everything in this game like every other Blizzard game is heavily dependant on servers and little is done on client side. One is security, the other is rigged RNG. This is exactly why there are no stats in this game, Blizzard doesn't want its players to figure out the mechanics of MM and tilting games by controlling RNG. For any professional Esport player, this should have been a red flag from the start.

No it doesn't. Consturcted requires you to make intelligent plays and built a deck wisely. Arena requires you to make plays and build a deck based on the random cards the game gives you to choose from.

While there is skill in drafting arena. The baseline level of skill is lower due to randomness. A great arena drafter stuck with hunter is going to loose to the noob with paladin, tyrion, rag, and three light in the darkness.

Constructed levels the playing field in access to cards, therefor theres a higher skill cap in deck building (and understanding the deck) than the randomness of arena.

There are rare outliers, but the overwhelming majority of arena drafts have about the same power level if drafted by a strong player. One of the strengths of arena is also knowing what classes are good-- why would anyone ever be "stuck" with Hunter? My opponents are just godly lucky then. Because I couldn't keep shit on the board.

Typically Disciple and C'thuns chosen would trade highly, plus the value of Beckoner and Disciple meant the early game was lost. If I maintained board control It was Shadowflame / Spreading Madness / Hellfire / Demonwrath to clear my side again. So now I'm hitting my power more often and if I drop a Giant or Doomgaurd they respond with Twisting Nether or Siphon Soul.

I also saw a lot of Brann Combos like with earthseer for health recovery.

There were no misplays on my part, it was typical zoo strategy. Make the trades you can, otherwise hit face, don't over extend and leave some drops in hand to respond to board clear. But they had response for everything, and like I said the decks were very different. I almost beat the guy that was running spreading madness because of spreading madness, but by turn nine I had an empty hand and he dropped twisting nether and I had like 6 health.

Also doomguard builds are not where you want to be on zoo at the moment.
Found the easiest way to win this kind of matchup is otk them after you hit away a tiny bit of life.
Leeroy into a combination of soulfire and power overwhelming should get you there.

Yeah but that's my point. even shitty classes can bow to the rng gods and build amazing decks. There was a dude here a couple days ago that went 11-3 to hunter as his last game. The hunter drafted 3 Call of the Wilds. Most decks don't even get three epics, much less the option to choose what is arguably the strongest epic for their class three fucking times.

The power level of cards is hugely variant, combine that with the already insane variance of just shuffling the deck and drawing the right cards and arena becomes lower a skill level environment. I can't count the number of arena games where both players are just top decking, thats a zero skill environment. Even if you drafted a very strong deck if you're drawing your one, two, and three mana drops and the opponent is drawing his turn seven, eight, and nine heavies then you're likely loosing. Even if you draw the board clear you expertly drafted, the game got to a point where you had a 1 in 15 chance of drawing the damn thing.

Skill in this game is a twofold measure, one is how you build a deck to respond to the environment (the standard meta, the arena meta whatever), two is how you respond to the board position and options available to you. Both standard and arena can get into zero skill topdecking matches, but standard preserves the ability to plan a deck. There's still the randomness of draws and the rng elements of the game itself, but arena can fuck you on card options so skill is less of a factor even if it is a different kind of skill to draft vs. construct.

Just have to add though. I think that some constructed players can learn from arena, where they can't just throw out their board clears. They learn proper trading and tempo. Not the silly trading where they just throw their shit into your shit and play something else to maintain initiative without applying more pressure in situations where they could get away with it.

That's the point. Zoo aims to set a low curve with high synergy, throw the board in a death grip and buff and trade their tokens up into anything you play on curve while snowballing an advantage you can't come back from.

Boardclears v. Zoo honestly aren't the best way to kill it though: chunky taunts and sticky deathrattles are hard for them to clear in a non-silence meta.

All I can say is work on your placement of units and work out when you can and can't extend.
Zoo can go 50/50 with most decks in the meta bar freeze mage and control priest so don't blame it on luck or bad draws.

I like both, but I also recognize that when I draft three rares and 27 commons, I'm going to have to work very hard just to get my 3-4 wins and break even.

I recognize that the environment is very random and can still enjoy it. I don't get the people that pretend that it's less random or that randomness is the same as fairness. Is that just ego talking trying to justify wins and losses like Kripp, or what?

At face value it's a more random environment, and randomness is opposiste to skill. Chess vs. Parcheesi, skill vs. luck, there's a line between the two and standard is a little bit closer to chess than arena is, though the whole game is closer to parcheesi than most would care to admit.
