I've finally got enough for a 2nd pull; do it just to have a 5th character, or does another join automatically soon? I just got to the second town.

I've never played XIII. I played XIII-2 for a while on ps3 but never finished, not sure how far I got but it was fairly decently in. Haven't played lightning returns

How are the PC versions if I decide to pick them up? The 13s are the only ones I haven't beaten so I figure I may as well.

I really wish I had a reason to need them. I can't believe how badly they fucked them up though. Every ability they use them getting released sucks more and more ass, and the ones that are good don't use enough to justify farming them or having such a massive stockpile.

I have 165 major white orbs and nothing to use them on. I'm tempted to just craft and hone holy out of spite. Even if I got it to R3 though I'd still have over 100 of the fuckers.

Break HP Limit sucks for a lot of reasons, but the biggest reasons are:

Bartz is good because he learns barrage. Exdeath, CoD and Cecil are all 'good' because of their 6* forms apparently. But Cecil fills the tank role and is also a good healer for you right now. He's fine unless you want to pull a favorite to start, I'd just wait for a rate up event on them.

Her BSB has a high floor but low ceiling because it's non elemental. It's strictly better than Cloud's (identical completely except Light has additional Slow and Dismiss procs with each attack).

Does anyone else find this new age of RK shit? Its like you can't even use a character anymore unless you have their SSB or at the very least a decent SB for them.

Get a new character in some event you want to use? Too bad, they aren't doing shit for your unless you draw on their banner and pull their relic. Its like I got these cool new darkness abilities but I can't even use them because I aint got a relic for any of the bad guys. Course I could try anyways but its like its all about SB and SSB nowadays simply having someone that "just" brings an ability set to the table isn't good enough anymore.

XIII wishes it was X. It tries to copy the same story beats and some of the mechanics of X, but lacks the depth (The crystarium is the sphere gird turned into linear nonsense, warriors try to "Defy their fate")

X is superior to XIII in every way except the fact that it plays on a previous generation console during the infancy of game dubbing. X is more relaxed and less pretentious than XIII, its MC is more likeable and you get Lulu's Lulus to enjoy.

I think that abilities are still the most important factor in determining whether you win or not but clearly SBs are becoming increasingly important.

A lot of my favored characters from the games I have to shun because their ability set sucks ass (eg Barret, Squall, Rikku) and this is true regardless of having their relic or not. In fact I would never deliberately pull for characters that have ass skillsets.

So while SB access is definitely more of a factor now than 9 months ago, it's still skillset that decides their worth in combat. And our options with abilities are only growing so heretofore ignored types like Ninja and Monk will be more relevant even if stuck with default SBs because those options are so powerful.

X, unlike XIII, actually gives you time to breathe. It has towns where you can chill out for a bit, buy/sell items, and so forth. You also have the cloisters, minigames and ares that offer greater exploration to break up the constant grind of combat.

FFXIII's biggest failing wasn't its linearity, it was its MONOTONY.

This is so lazy and I love it. I think I can defeat every boss just by repeating the same thing. Even the level 99 ba'als are barely a threat. Nothing really in particular if you're just in it for casual completion. It's a pretty straight forward game.
You don't level traditionally however. Characters fill out a Sphere Grid with AP they gain from battle if they participated in it. This means you can switch in everyone, input a Defend command, and switch them back out to easily get everyone AP each battle. Tedious though.
Everyone can learn everything on the Sphere Grid, but start out in their own section pertaining to a cookie cutter FF job like black mage, warrior, etc. One party member (Kimahri) starts out in the middle and it's up to you whose path he'll branch off to. Most recommend Rikku's path next to learn Steal as he has a solo boss battle where he can multiple steal Key Spheres which are used to unlock other paths on the Sphere Grid. That's probably the most common "look out for" advice.

I got around 5 magicite shards, 2 blue magicite and 1 black magicite, not too bad, especially for the 5 stamina cost, well and the rank exp is 70 per run, while the exp vortex gives 80 exp per 15 stamina, so if anything, this is a pretty damn good way to level up

Hell her festivalist Dresssphere is even based around status ailments unlike the other girls which are basically BLM, so you could make a point for her having Support too.

I took a level 65 Edea with that same skill loadout, with r3/r2 for hones. While I did have a synergy weapon (vivi's first staff), I hit for 9999. My point being, you can probably ditch atunement for double hit (if you have it), which should help the retaliate portion of your strat. Also, I would ditch haste on Basch; it does next to nothing for you (or at least, doesn't do anything that S/L doesn't already do). I don't know what options are available to you, but some sort of damage would be better.

I've been really interested in Braska's pilgrimage lately (I was the one talking about making a prequel game in the last thread) and I'm wondering... does anyone know if there's a list of every single event and fact that we know for sure happens during Braska's pilgrimage? Like a list of characters the trio encounters, in what order they go to all the temples, and other important events that took place in canon during his pilgrimage.

I'd like to throw together a plot synopsis for such a prequel game but I need to know everything that is 100% canon first. There's only so much info in the game(s) and I'm going to assume that there's probably things like Japanese-only books/guides that explain things in greater depth that I'd need to know.

There's an "All Jecht sphere" video collection on Youtube somewhere that also has most pyrefly re-enactment/flashback scenes that Tidus/Auron see when you visit places like the temples. You might be able to piece together stuff like Temple order from that, and there's a sphere where they encounter the Chocobo Eater for example.

Maria's actually one of the better black mages post-buff in Japan. Not Terra/Rinoa/Ashe good, but not that far behind (really only the lack of Summoning is the big drawback she has compared to them)

That's not true at all, she's worse than the three you mentioned as well as most of the Darkness BMs. Black Magic in general is just bad in JP anyway, it's stagnant as fuck and these weak attempts at reviving it with the Chaincast skills aren't really helping.

You seem to be getting your memes mixed up, the "Magic is shit" one is a lot more significant than the "Monks are shit" one. Refia may be a Monk, but being on the low side of physical attackers beats being on the slightly less low side of magical attackers.
