All planets must produce max science, and you should try to maintian enough energy to keep your fleets in space.

You can fix your mineral needs by simply placing the odd mine network onto a 2 mineral tile here and there.

I posted this after last thread died.

>Most of my gameplay mods still work, but my cosmetic (custom species) ones are broken.

Dunno exactly, but probably similar to my problem with the expanded colors mod. In /interface is a file customize_species_editor.gui, make a copy from your install folder, open it up, open up the version of the file from the mod, copy the species portrait section from the mod over the one in the copy, save copy, overwrite the mod version with the copy. With the expanded colors mod I had to the same except with the empire flags section instead of species portrait. Though I can't say for 100% certain that'll work since I don't know what files are in your mod or what 1.1 changed in customize_species_editor.gui, I just know that's what I had to do to get extended colors working and I saw species portraits in that same file. At least it's something to try.

The only other mod I had an issue with was one of the expanded or extended trait mods which was easy to fix because the mod had a 00_defines.lua it didn't need in it. It was causing me to get domination victory on gamestart because I only needed 0 planets for it, not sure why exactly, but getting rid of the unnecessary defines from the mod fixed it. Expanded Species Traits is the name of that mod.

Everything else worked fine other than having to go in and make it so the launcher wasn't telling me I had outdated mods, because that hurt my autism.
>>
So do the mod/patches somewhat fix the game now or is it too early?

The tech penalty is more to prevent large Empires from snowballing technology wise, and you'll also suffer a bit in the short run so you have to plan out your expansion. In the long run you're still better off making more colonies though, it's not like Civilization where more than a few will completely cripple you.
>>
>>143767360
depends on which version you're running
the latest one has the 2% per op penalty
the beta patch has 10% penalty per planet +1% per pop
so its either civ 5 or worse than civ 5

>>
it kinda pisses me off that after early game I barely ever get any anomalies (from territories which I conquered and then survey)

is there a way to 'un-survey' planets so that you get an other chance of discovering an anomaly? or can you add a random one? all I have found is how to add specific anomalies which I honestly don't want

>inb4 consolefag
yeah I know. haven't ever cheated so far but this is really something that bothers me and all I care about is fun

>>143767360
from what Ive heard the tech penalty from pops was lowered from 2% to 1% and planet penalty is now 10%, so a planet with more than 10 tiles is more efficient than before

>>
>>143779049
Nah each pop is part of a party but pops above a certain happiness threshold will join the loyalist party regardless of their ethos. I actually consider it a broken feature, since it means that unless you purposely try to make your pops unhappy they will never form new parties and your empire will never have any internal politics whatsoever. They should change it from being happiness based to being ethics based, essentially the way you thought it works. Loyalists would be those who have the same ethics as the government, and factions would form up around other ethos that your pops adopt, and really most pops should just want policy changes or empire wide edicts rather than full independence, where as now, factions only demand that. The current system doesn't work at all, and I'd probably have posted this on the paradrone forum if I wasn't a pirate.

>>143779094
Except slightly more powerful since mandate allow you to gain loads of influence and theirs really only two edicts that ever get pulled.

>Specialize each of your 5 core worlds
>2 planets with only energy buildings, admin building in the center so u can build betharian powerplants around it for the adjacency bonus and u get even more energy out of the power hub + overload edict if u can spare the influence
>1 planet with full minerals + hub building (planet with extra mineral modifier
>1 capital world with full science and all the buildings than have empire wide bonuses
>1 full science world
>all sectors should be on research focus, make sectors big so the AI has access to the orbital minerals and doesnt waste planet tile space for building powerplants

once you get your core worlds up u should have several hundred income worth of energy and minerals which means u can shit out big fleets in no time
>>
>>143780004

the only real difference comes in the early game, u gotta get a bit lucky to survive the first few decades on insane. if u get an aggressive neighbor early on youre pretty much doomed, AI has 1k+ worth of fleet by 2210 on insane ready to stomp you back to pre sentient
>>
>>143781490

the only AI that will screw your run would be fanatical purifiers

I've spawned next to opposing ideology advanced AI with 5 planets and they DoW'd me (high AI aggressiveness) and I managed to white peace with only the starting +19 minerals and 13 fleet limit

the only other way the game can fuck you over is an unfortunate hyperlanes start

with warp tech it will never spawn you on an out-of-range system, but hyperlanes can and I've seen it happen to AI once, they spawned with one hyperlane leading to an advanced AI, and another to an FE, it was funny

Am I the only one that thinks people might be overlooking mass tanks? I always hear people talking about them like they don't exist. I've been starting to favor using them over Bombers for Atomic-era domination victories. GWBs aren't sufficent to take cities and Radar takes significantly more techs to hit (electricity, replaceable parts, electronics, but not combustion). The lack of limitation to cities is also useful, especially when you're just rushing a group of 7 tanks past an AIs cities and bum rushing their capitals because you're smarter than Hitler.

My timing seems to be sloppy but I think straight up you should just hit tanks, sell research buildings, and just spam tanks, happiness buildings, and gold buildings while building pentagon.

I wish there was a 4X game where pirates made some fucking sense. They are always conceptually retarded in strategy games.

They shouldn't be a humongous military force that outshines empires even in the beginning. They should appear where there is trade, their success would strengthen them and losses would of course weaken. They should dynamically appear and disappear depending on trade and their tech level should be about the same or below the empires.

Basically they shouldn't be a serious military threat. They should mainly be an economic threat and only a military threat if you allow them to get out of hand.

random empires are really fun mate you should try them

a few pro tips:

1. newbies don't build defense stations, build them

2. minmaxing isn't fun, you will never nudge out an advantage big enough to justify the cost

3. don't pause, ever, instead go slowest speed, a few ticks going by won't kill you and it feels better

4. try trading for strategic resources

5. do one FTL-only galaxies

6. hyperlanes are fun

7. are you feeling lucky, punk? attack an FE, make it a priority to win a battle, any battle, send a science ship and get tachyon lances early

8. migration access can help you speed up colonisation

9. starting with more advanced empires can be advantageous - you can pick them up as an ally, or ask to be a protectorate, then just store your research and go max out colonies and minerals, once you've colonised everything, you get to research everything at a 50% discount and then obliterate your former overlord *

*doesn't work if your overlord happens to have the entire galaxy backing him
>>

>>
>>143788783
Yeah I realize that and all the same I disagree that they're underpowered.

They're INCREDIBLY bad if the AIs are actually fairly even with you, which is why I think they are never used in multiplayer. If you go for them someone will rush research labs, have infantry that have even combat strength to tanks, get bombers first and just start wrecking you, and then get paratroopers first and start pillaging resources, then hit atomic bombs first (removed in nqmod) and start taking the person that went tanks cities to half population. Game becomes about spamming Mobile SAM and bombers and hitting stealth bombers first.

But I think for the express purpose of wiping AIs that you have a decisive advantage over, they're actually pretty good.
>>
>>143789807

Like I feel the reason why nobody uses them is because nobody knows how to use them.

They're a game ending unit meant to be mass produced out of all your cities. Not a defensive unit, not a support unit, you need to go all in with them or they're junk.

They're useless against players and strong AIs, strong AIs being far more abusable using bombers.

I have done all of these except 5 or 6. Am I pro now? I didn't even destroy the FE's to get anything useful out of them. I just wanted to eradicate them because the assholes attacked me at the most inopportune time and did the most douchebagey thing and attacked me right after I had barely managed to fight off the scourge.

Feels so good to think back to that time. I had only one spaceport left and barely managed to make a fleet that could fight the scourge with that one bloody port.

After struggling to get the scourge the fuck outta my land, basically every neighbor, apart from one decided to attack me and this one and only fleet managed to beat the invaders too.

I was just trying to get teched up because I was lagging behind so I was researching some rare AI tech. Immediately after I got a white peace from my neighbours,

The Othari's or whatever the fuck they were, started stirring shit because of the tech I was researching. I told them to fuck off unless they have useful input, like helping me out like I've tried to ask them to.

So, they invaded me and destroyed the great fleet I had. I was left defenseless against the Scourge, who swarmed over the territories I took back from them and destroyed Earth in the process when they infested it.

I decided that I will make a fleet even greater than the one I had and I will dedicate that fleet to eradicate the Othari's out of existence and erase them from history for what they did.

About 120 years later pic related. It's Othari's tomb. Their epitaph says "got fucked."

I got stuck with the "throne of god" eventchain, where after destroying a sepratist ship factory i get to hunt the leader, he makses contact, i go to its system and... nothing. No army, nothing to scan, nothing triggering....

Knowing paradox they probably fucked up something minor in the text files, and i already found the one relating to the event (in the "country_events.txt, the thing under "# Cult Leader Signals" has stuff relating to fleet creation).
Problem is, i cant decipher more than that (i can take educated guesses what does what, but dont now enough to find the problem)
My best guess is that it selected a black-hole system wihtout planets, and it tries to spawn the fleet at a planet form the slected system. How can i make it pick an another system?

So if anyone is in a similar shoe, or has a bit of know-how with scripting and could help me out, i would apriciate it.

I did. It's shit.
The diplomatic system is bad, and encourage spamming of support cards, which are expensive anyway.
The system based on planets supporting each others is needlessly long and complicated, as it takes too much time to colonize everything.
The fleet are also bloody expensive, and yet the AI with 3 shitty planets seems able to support a fleet 2x bigger than mine.
The defense system and the pressure are too complicated and should be replaced by something simpler.
The limited supplies means that an AI spamming fleets have a great advantage over an attacker, as you'll soon run out of supplies and won't be able to fight while the AI fleet will chip away your fleets.
Research is ugly and unclear, compared to Endless Space where everything is neatly organized.
Battles are buggy, with missiles going anywhere but in the enemy's face.

TL;DR: it's shit.

IMO it's too easy to white peace

instead there should be a truce that's easy to agree to - one where you exchange minerals or something, or you pay influence while having a fire truce

if the truce stays you can white peace and the war will end without the was at war modifier

you could still white peace but it should be harder - the forces should be equivalent and the length of war must be positive

generational ships, although there would be very little, if any, communication between interstellar worlds. It'd be more of an insurance that humanity would exist -somewhere- if Earth got fucked over.

You might be able to work around this by having massive, near constant convoys of generational ships between all the worlds, almost like a relativistic conveyor belt.
The resulting government would be gargantuan, ponderous, and utterly decentralized, but there'd be at least some cultural and economic exchange between the worlds.

Splitting up the troublemakers and putting loyal founder species settlements in conquered sectors makes it so the problem pops won't be able to coalesce, so the worst you get is occasional terrorist activity that bombs a building once every couple years (which is cheap to repair)

The graphic have their charm but its from MoO veteran(I still play it).
Problem is that there is little information on screen. As you see there is no connection with system info to main map info, and even system info is rather limited. Muchos clickos to get infos.
Also game currently lack many features. For example there is no diplomacy right now.
Combat is rather meh. Its the Master of Orion 2 type with tactical combat and designed ships but movement is clunky , weapons are not balanced9missiles and fighters are shit right now). Big thing is designing ship but there are only few types of ships for each races and they have limited space for systems and weapons. For example humans have Missile Cruiser who have plenty of missiles slots but few weapons slots. So variations are rather low.
Tech tree is typical static civ tree which mean its shit.
There is so neat things but not much. I like how planets have few habitable zones and its affect how much different pops you can stuff on planet(like ocean is best for space sea horses and forest for humans, swamps for snakes).
Economy system really on minerals(for production) and cash(maintenance and speed up prod). Nothing great.
Anything else?

UI is okey. Its not really that different from MoO 2 (or so I remember). Not that good like MoO 1st(and best).
Management is rather easy.
Planets have limited slots for improvement/buildings
>build mines for minerals(go to global reserve, used for production of ships and military units), planets have different mineral richness so extracting on poor is a waste of slots
>build farms to feed pops(can be transported between planets automaticly if you have spare frighteners in pool)
>cash you get from pops, spaceports and freighters on trade routes
>factories to produce ships and tanks
>labs to research stuff
>planets have limited slots but not many 2-3 small to 6-7 big
>>You can also use freighters to transport troops or even use populations to take enemy planets
Ground combat system is actually simple but well thought. Troops are main fighters but loyal civilians also form militia brigades. Combat can take few turns if defenders have some reserves or big pop. You can also just nuke them if you have enough firepower.
No diplomacy right now just war. But they work on it and I see that it should be OK basic MoO 2 stuff.
Scale is rather small right now. Max map is 99 stars systems with 10 players. Systems can have up to 4 planets. They plan to add more custom options and bigger maps but we will see. So its rather small compared to Stellaris or DW. Kinda like MoO 2.
Races feel different. They kinda remind me of SotS. Different traits, different ships, some special weapons, different habitats.
Humans start with no home system only with colony ships and transports(and cruiser).
They plan to add some more quests and anomalies(some are right now but few).
Repeatability not so great right now as there is no balance.
Not really. Most things you see somewhere else. There is some nice fluff but not much.
The only nice thing is that you can easily make a specialized planets(mines, farm-worlds, forge-worlds or labs).
We will see if AI get better.

Not him, but always. Hypershields only give 25% more equivalent HP than crystal forged, but shields can be penetrated. Raw HP has to be deal damage to normally.

With no weapons and t5 power, a battleship will have 2400 health and 2625 shields, at maximum. Those shields can be entirely bypassed.
With no weapons, t5 power, and only crystal forged plating, that battleship will have 5500 in health, which cannot be bypassed.

Alright so I've been trying to figure out how to balance terraforming properly because even though I hate terraforming in the game I don't want it to become terraforming simulator 2200.

>Make it cost no resources or energy, making it absolutely free with no requirements save for the station
>To compensate, make the station cost 15 energy maintenance per month
>1500 energy for a 3600 days (120 months) process would translate to 12.5 energy per month, but increase it to 15 for a total of 1800 energy to balance out the fact that it doesn't require terraforming resources
>Test it out, in my infinite wisdom forget that it takes 10 years to complete ONE terraforming cycle
>Increase the maintenance cost to 75 energy per month and lower the terraforming duration to 2 years, or to 150 maintenance and 1 year to further lock it to late game blob empire
>Logic being that it shouldn't take 10 ingame years minimum to change it to a certain type but still be prohibitively expensive to keep other alternatives like gene modification and multi-species empires viable, and that it'd make terraforming happen on a planet-per-planet basis instead of several planets at once since terraforming stations cost ZERO maintenance and terraforming resources never run out unles they're sectored

How does this sound? For that matter, do stations work on energy deficit?

>scrap analysis
mining drones and voidclouds are pretty useless and scrap can be ignored, the only worthwhile things are crystals for the crystal hull tech (+ship HP) and other civs with superior tech, which will get u boosts for your own research

>special projects
always use alien contact projects as soon as they pop up. assuming you are playing 1.1 the contacting of another civ will yield 40 influence, whereas u only get 20 when they contact u first. influence is very important early on then u tryin to grab as much territory with outposts as possible
u can stall the alien creature research projects until you really plan on getting their benefits (e.g. research mining drones and then activate the edict to clear the drones for some extra energy early on if u have the fleet power)

>research priority
its usually better at the start to specialize in 1 weapon system. point defense is important to get early on too because you can counter missile civs hard. get at least shields II and some cold fusion reactor for reasonably strong early corvettes. focus on +influence research in society, bigger ships in engineering.
if u are extremely ballsy try fighting a fallen empire early on, u just need to win a small battle to salvage their tachyon tech. Mount the tachyon lances onto a destroyer with a large weapon slot = gg

Daily reminder that research and superior science is NOT the only way to win wars in Stellaris, so WIDE can beat TALL empire.
Sure it helps, but the tech tiers are close enough in efficiency that you can beat a huge tech advantage with numbers.
See pic, the better ship is also 2,5 times more expensive in initial cost and upkeep, requires about 15 more techs researched, and is nowhere near 2,5 times better. So if you go wide, and ignore the research penalty you'll have more planets, more minerals and more energy and can build 2,5 times bigger fleet for same cost. More planets lets you have bigger fleet cap from pops and starbases and a wider distribution of your production centers so it's harder to cripple you.
Also as bad as research cost increase is you can still keep up in economy tech, and if you win a few skirmishes you can salvage the enemy's superior tech and catch back up.

Nice pic
The issue is that if you go wide, you have to keep expanding or you die
Wars for tech, more pops for more ships, etc
if you dont continue expanding you're going to get fucked over
But expansion requires you to be ready for war in the first place because you'll be settling every which way and thin your lines, still putting you at risk of being wrecked
>>
>>143833517
>nowhere near 2.5 times better
>evasion has gone up exactly 2.5 times
>shields have gone up 5 times
>survivability has increased even greater
You're only thinking about one battle
If you try lowtech spam you're going to be getting phyrric victories everywhere and you need a steady supply of fresh ships all the time for every corner of your empire
A high-tech empire can simply wreck you faster than you can produce ships since their ships have way more survivability and thus wont need to be reinforced as often

you're grossly underestimating the value of having more firepower concentrated in one ship, it may not be 2.5 times as high numbers but it will last much more than 2.5 times longer in battle
>>
>>143833736
Unless all your neighbours are of opposing ethics you'll never have to fight more than 1 or 2 at a time.
Once you have a biggish empire (around 10 to 20 settled planets) you can slow down and dig in for a couple decades before going on another expansion. Meanwhile you should vassalize all your weak neighbours, give them migration access, set a gaia world as promised land, and use their different pops to colonize worlds that your starting race can't.

>>143834119
true evasion is the one place where the increase with tech is massive, but this is just corvettes being OP on 1.0.3, 1.1 will cut that evasion in half. Right now top ship has 475 effective health, bottom has 1220. It will be 422 vs 813 in 1.1. Meanwhile for same cost top gets 13.62 dps.
Tech ship needs 60 seconds to kill 1 of the low tech ones. Meanwhile they do 817 damage to it, and the 2 remaining shitships need 36s to kill it with no further loses (this goes down to 8.5s in 1.1). Top lost 80 minerals, bot lost 200.

Economy - how well you do is literally dictated by how much minerals you have access to do near your starting location

Yes and the loss of every single ship is much more devastating
let me math a 100 hightech corvettes vs 250 shit corvettes fight real quick for you.
First let's assume (based on totally anecdotal observed behaviour in game) that around 25% the total dps of each fleet will be concentrated on each of 2 enemy ships, the rest spread out.
techships do 790dps, shitships do 1362. I'll work with 1.1 values for evasion. their respective effective hps factoring evasion are 813 and 422.
I could give you my spreadsheet but the point is that by the time the high tech fleet has lost 1/3 of ships, the low tech one has lost less that 1/6, AND all the high tech ships are on 50% hp, while the low tech ones are at more than 75%. The slaughter accelerates as more time passes. Acording to my (I admit flawed) math about 200 low tech ships will survive, and they'll all be on more than 60% hp.

Why is there a research penalty for playing wide? It doesn't make sense. How is a smaller empire more efficient at technological breakthroughs than one that is massive? I understand it from a game balance perspective; however I feel as if tech shouldn't be hurt by rapid growth in the slightest. I think there should be other, more thought-out issues, with rapid expansion.

For instance, if you expand too quickly then your influence cost grows rapidly. Having a negative influence counter will cause empire wide debuffs and promote faction spawning/separatist organization. Running out of influence causes sectors to perhaps go into some kind of anarchy mode, which removes their influence cost (which doesn't exist in the game now, stupidly) at the price of their resource output and population happiness. This makes sense, as the empire grew far too quickly to be able to be controlled by the government.

Also the size of one's military should mean more than just resource drain. A small empire with a fuck-huge military should get a massive boost to influence, and a massive empire with no military should take a huge hit to influence.

There should be real consequences to playing wide and real consequences to playing tall. Technology shouldn't even be the first thing considered, especially seeing as it doesn't make sense (More people = more scientists = more technological progress)

What happens if your influence drops to 0 and you have a negative influence gain per month?
>>
Traits: Intelligent, Conformists, Repugnant, Solitary.

Intelligent to get that science, conformist to keep your ethos and allow you to encourage free thought right off the bat with no penalty, repugnant and solitary because happiness doesn't matter.

Ethos: Fanatic Materialist, Militarist.

Materialist for even more science, militarist for influence and weight towards military techs.

Government: Science Directorate.

Increased leader cap and more card draws.

I've had smashing success with this build. I have yet to fight a large scale invasion but I have a bajillion rare military techs along with super upgraded shields and missiles. My empire is second in population and AFAIK, first in fleet power and tech. But I still have room for peaceful expansion so I'm still chilling. Conformists means I have no factions or rebellions either which makes for smooth sailing.

>>
What's better, guys: Intelligent, or Enduring and Fast Learning?
>>
>>143789807
1. Don't build anything but corvettes and battleships (BB).
2. As defence use only HP for corvettes (crystalline hull, kill crystalline monsters research debris). Stack evasion on corvettes.
3. On BB use HP or shileds and always go all the way all shields or all HP.
4. Same for weapons. One type all the way. If using torpedos smaller version in numbers are better than larger versions because they overwhelm point defence by numbers.
>>
>>143846163
Enduring isn't that great, especially if you are playing one of the once per leader governments
Fast Learning is ok
Intelligent is ok

If you are going full research go with intelligent
>>
>>143846163
Enduring/Fast-Learning means that your leaders reach 5 stars and then stay there for decades. This is especially useful for your scientists.
>>
>>143846238
>one type all the way

Also, is hp really better on corvettes than shield? Scrubs in my games almost never use any anti-shield weaponry

The main thing that xenophobe locks you out of is genetic engineering. You can't splice your entire population because they'll be "ruled by alien overlords" since your learders will no longer be considered from the "primary species".
>>
>>143846762
>learders
>>
>>143845983
yep, they only cost energy to maintain. It's not retarded, you can't buy/do anything that requires influence. Just like with 0 minerals there's no outright penalty you just can't build anything until you get some.
>>
>conquer planet of fanatic xenophobes

>>143846163
Depends on what ethos you're playing.
Democracies get crazy +skill governments so you don't need any traits that affect leaders.
Between the three intelligent will give you the most but fast learning is good for early anomaly exploration.
>>
>>143846969
They will eventually change ethos to you empire ethics if you got solid negative ethic divergence. Work on it.

>>143847503
The plan was to go with Enduring, Fast Learning, Natural Engineers and Sedentary. I plan to buy Intelligent once I unlock genetic engineering.

>>
>>143847743
>I wouldn't pay $10 for it.
Ok, thanks.
>>
>>143846583
>Also, is hp really better on corvettes than shield?
HP gives better combined HP. Shields are only good if tier 5 and on big ships. Then you have similar total HP and huge shields regen over course of combat. But on corvettes you got smaller members than if you got HP and they are blown fast so they don't have opportunity to regenerate anything. Anyway HP is just OP AT because of numbers. Going shields is mostly for fun and convenience purposes (shields ships take little damage if you decisively win combats).

>What ever happened to torpvettes + tachyon lance bbs?
Nothing. I mean same weapons for same type of ship.
>>
>>143847923
No, but BB Rangefinder does. Unfortunately that seems a bit buggy too and things tend to sit just outside firing range, which isn't a problem for fleet battles but can make it irritating to go station hunting. Combat interface needs 'approach' and 'disengage' buttons to actually control fleets somewhat.
>>
>>143848348
Right, somehow it completely opposes my own theory, so I should probably give it a try next game.
What I do for survivability is basically max evasion and shields on corvettes and armor\hp on bbs. Early game shield corvettes wreck all the laser scrubs easily and in late game you just have enough of them to zerg dps any fleet. Yes, once shield is down, the ship is pretty much fucked, but that's where comes the evasion. Fit the right admiral and corvettes tank better than bbs even.

A few things:
Frontier outposts really hurt your influence, especially in the early game. So when you can spare the tech crunch you should be adding additional planets, outpost when you need to hold your borders or get strategic resources. (the purple bricks are the ones you'll see earliest)

As hyperdrive you need to be especially mindful of your surroundings, (going back to earlier with your outpost placement) since stars will quickly go as other people expand.

Delete frontier outposts as soon as your planets have enough pops to hold the border, you'll have to guesstimate the first few tries, but you'll get the hang of it.

With hyperlanes, focus on clusters of planets since it'll be more cost effective with your early outposting.

Unless if you plan to stay small, pick New World Protocol as your first green tech. There's a chance you won't see it again on the next round (it is however weighted as time goes on.)
>>
>>143854749
>xenophile
I've read enough hentais to know where this is going.
>>
>>143854796
At the very least you should max out your core limit; if you don't go wide you won't have access to lots of orbital resources, and so planets will be your primary source of research.

Looking at you map, the Fangnaur frontier outpost is highly redundant, and could have been placed in Bihjal, or even better, somewhere near Wiertham.

Likewise, the Bidtox frontier outpost is redundant, as there's a habitable world in that system and you could have likely colonized it without having to spend precious influence. That frontier outpost could have been used to further solidify that cluster to your north, likely in Escant or Saldar.

Alternatively, you could have linked up your systems with outposts through Wiertham, towards Katsaba or Nembus for all those delicious orbitals.

>>143855073
piggy backing off of >>143854906 as well, a final note on frontier outposts.

They do cost a lot of influence, a huge amount, and influence is absolutely instrumental if you plan on going tall (planet heavy), as you need it to both upgrade your capitol structures, as well as maintaining planetary edicts.

Outposts should only be used to cut off enemy empires from choice territory, or to quickly secure dense clusters of resources, such as the Nembus-Scorom-Kastaba-Hemtares cluster.
It's conceivable that you could have gotten Nembus, Scorom, and Kastaba all at once, potentially even Hemtares, had you built an outpost in Kastaba; that's a total of 10 power, 8 minerals, 2 phyics, 5 society, and 8 engineering.
Of extremely important note are those last two amounts, which would increase your society and engineering yields by a whopping 50%

>>
>>143854206
Delete the frontier outpost from Fangnaur, it's not needed to hold the borders.

You can put another outpost in Bihjail system if it has ton of goodies. Otherwise save your influence.

Your game plan now should be to quickly max out on Corvetes. Since you are floating 2k+ of both resources this should be too difficult. In fact you can temporarily go over the limit just before you attack since you have such a bank.
Your situation is tough with having a 6 planet empire boxing you in so you need to move quickly before he has a fleet you can't beat.
Also build a ground army of handful of troops. 5-10 assault armies should be plenty.

Make sure you research either shields or armor before you move out and if fleet size tech comes up in society tree pick that too. Monitor the diplomacy screens relative fleet power as you build up. Once you are at your cap refit all ships to the newest design you have and check the diplomacy screen one last time for the fleet power. Put your wargoal as capturing the 2 planets on the left.

Take your fleets to Zosma and Jolderuun and clear out their frontier outpost from there if they have one and then siege the planets on the right.

Then you pray you can either get out with a white peace and then build a frontier outpost to secure your exit or that you can beat his endless reinforcements and snag the planets on the right.
