Also, I'd love it if people who have played Silverstag could share with me something they disliked about the mod that I could fix, I'll put it in.

Most of the changes will be convenience changes such as removing stab from bardiches, and adding garantueed horse for troops meant to be mounted, etc. .

That's a bug. There's alot of those. For some reason in Blood & Steel they come and go MID-playthrough. Yesterday when I was playing (a couple of hours before removing the mod and promising to never download it again), my prisoner capacity went from 800 to 0 and I couldn't add any more prisoners for a while. Then suddenly it jumped back to 800 again after exiting a tavern.

I think I got it figured out. It makes sense that they're given additional stats depending on their ''tier'', as they're categorized by in Silverstag. There's the regular troop, then a veteran version and an elite version. The veteran is +1 tier above regular, and elite is +1 tier above veteran. So depending on what tier the regular troop in question started at, they have different tiers.

I think that might have something to do with their additional stats. Because Morgh's is showing incorrect stats even on their veteran and elite counterparts aswell.

There's a chance that an friendly lord will come to your aid in battle, likely dependent on your relationship with him. As far as I'm aware, only the lord himself, without any troops, spawn. It doesn't make a ton of sense, but I guess it's kind of neat.

The levels are set in troops.txt, so you could change them in Morgh's if you wanted but not in-game. The set stats button opens up the same screen as setting the stats of your companions, with a number of unallocated attribute and skill points appropriate for their level. Once you finish setting them, that button goes away and the stats are locked in.

The equipment you're able to give them is restricted based on level, but I haven't got around to a limited budget yet. It will of course be there eventually though.

It seems like while we were driving the Vlachs out of Bulgaria, they have launched a siege on Pella. Leading the attack is Stephen Bocskay, a young and promising nobleman. He's supported by the armies of Voivode Christopher Báthory (though I guess he's functionally the Prince), who became the leader of Transylvania when his brother was elected King of Poland.
Also supporting are Jeremias II, Patriarch of Constantinople (three times actually), Giorgio Basta, an Italian general with Austrian and Catholic affiliations, as well as additional Vlach forces. It's a confusing and strange mix, but they're going to have to be thrown back from the walls.

Luckily I arrived in Pella just as the enemy assault began. We're outnumbered and I still haven't had a chance to rebuild my army after the battle with Michael the Brave and the bloody assault on Plovdiv, so it's not going to be a simple battle, though I'm confident that I'll win.

One good thing about playing historical mods is that it makes you want to find you who all these lords actually are.

Well, this is it.
January 1st 1576 marks three full years of Warwolf. It's been an experience. Maybe I should, I dunno, make a map of Europe or something. That might be fun.

And, like a great coincidence to mark this occasion, England actually managed to conquer Paris in the early morning hours of January 1st. This is kind of a big deal, not only because it shows how weak the French have become, having also recently lost other wars, but because it's a great military happening. Taking capitals in Warwolf is a big deal, as they're tough as shit and stuffed full of troops. The only capital I've ever seen fall before is the Native American capital that I took, but those were savages.
This is a well known and incredibly important city, as well as being the centre of a major European military power. Really didn't expect this, especially as England fared really bad in their last war with the French, as far as I can remember.
Unless they take it back, this might be the twilight of the Kingdom of France. And even if they do, I've seen an actual capital fall.

Yeah I think I'll gave up on ''balancing'' Silverstag. It's completely pointless. The mod is bugged beyond belief. Troops have completely random stats that even after changing them in Morgh's, gets edited after a game is started. Higher tier troops have lower skills at random compared to lower tier troops of the same type, lowest tier troops have 1 athlethics despite changing it to zero, and higher tier ones have 0. No point in trying to fix this if they have random stats like that.

7 str, 5 agi, 4 int, and 4 char is base attributes, so if the char was 25 you could add 25 points to those

Okay, I've found the perfect solution.
I will be changing the Storozh to Cavalry Archers, the Bogatyr to Cavalry, and the Vanguard into what I had in mind for the Storozh. And the Pecheneg I will raise to tier 4 and change them into Archers.

This will give the Vaegir player a solid tier 4 Archer unit they can purchase in masses (peasant recruit). A good sword and board Infantry unit (Storozh, tier 5) that can endure much punishment but can not dish out that much punishment himself, perfect for absorbing damage while your other units (Archers primarily) deal with the enemy. You'll also have a peasant recruit (tier 4) Cavalry unit that buffs other units (Cavalry Captain) and two additional veteran recruits, one a Horse Archer (the former Longbowman, then Storozh, now new Horse Archer unit) and one a regular strong Cavalry unit (Bogatyr purified into a pure Cavalry unit).

The ultimate Vaegir troop will remain the tier 7 veteran recruit Vaegiran Marksman, whose equipment I will improve.

War is eventually declared to whatever Prague is called at this time and Hungary. The marshal gathers the forces, we ride out and somewhere close to Vienna we pass by the Hungarian forces and allow them to ride into our lands uncontested.

Why the fuck is the marshal not immediately attacking them and instead allows them to mess up our villages and towns?

And speaking of AD 1257, how do I expand or get more fiefs? There's so many lords in the realm and despite regular wars there's barely any holdings changing sides.
Don't think I've ever heard so many problems expanding in a mod.

It is, but the coding is too simple to account for every single possibility. It's also written a bit weirdly and prioritises dumb stuff like raiding campaigns and besieging remote castes for a little while and then going home.

Diplomacy fixes some of this but 1257AD has it's own problems, like the developers had to remove a lot of features to make the map run at more than 2fps, unbalancing a lot of AI decisionmaking. Because it's all simulated even the tiniest oversight can compound and ruin the game.

So instead of the worthless Vaegir tier 5 2H using troop, there's now a Vaegir tier 6 1H+Shield tank troop.

So I upped the tier once, I made it the most heavily armoured unit in the game, but gave it shit melee capability compared to other troops around its tier. The abilities it has complements its tank nature very well, allowing it to stay competitive in the field. Coupled with some units that buffs them with healing, they will be the most durable infantry troops in the game, but unable to handle the infantry of the Nords, and not able to dish out that much damage overall.

In Silverstag there are abilities, two of those abilities help trading very much in Silverstag. One of them called Wholesaler which reduces the penalty for trading with an item multiple times, as in, when you buy something it becomes more expensive to buy again, that penalty is reduced by 15% or something, same with selling when it becomes cheaper. There's also one that adds a tooltip below all trade goods, which shows how much under/over the ''regular'' price you're purchasing/selling them to the center you're currently at, which makes trading soooo much easier. You can have made several thousands of denars profit in just the first few in-game days, eventually you'll have so much cash you just ride around Calradia making tens of thousands easily.

So, why are certain troops NEVER being spawned either in caravans, lord parties, towns or castles? I'm going through party templates for example and I've added Vaegir Pecheneg to party reinforcments which reinforce lord parties with lord party specific troops (they're not spawned in towns or castles), but they still won't spawn. I tried the same with another unit for the Sarranids, and it won't spawn in lord parties either, despite successfully adding it in party templates.

Do I wait enough? Longest I waited was like 1 week in-game, but still didn't see those troops. I'm 100% sure I added and saved everything correctly.

Does party reinforcments function some other way than I imagine perhaps? For example I added one additional troop and made it spawn between 5 and 10 of them, but they NEVER spawn.

I was looking at party templates and what I see is pretty clearly kingdom_reinforcments being for different places. For example when I looked in-game I never saw cavalry-captain, marksmen, vanguard or bogatyr in castles or towns, so I presume that all party templates without any one of those, is for castles and towns garrisons because they always have troops included in those. So I excluded cavalry and cavalry archers from those party templates, and included a little bit of everything balanced after faction in the party templates meant for the lords

But how does it work for Silverstag instead because of the brilliant fucking devs? They have added this retarded ''game difficulty'' selection during character creation, which affects %'s for certain abilities, and also apparently WHICH (not how many, but which) party templates are used for what.

So I make a new game, but this time with ''hardest'' difficulty setting, and guess what? 238423493294 horse archers and cavalry in towns and castles.

Prior to picking the ''hardest'' setting, the only troops AI lords would recruit were max 10 of the higher tier troops, the rest of their 100s of troops were the first three tiers of crap. Basically entire armies and garrisons of peasants in leather armour and wooden shields.

Now without altering much, and simply picking the highest difficulty, the lords are still not recruiting horse archers and cavalry, but only garrisons are doing so. The best part? The most common troop type they (garrisons) recruit: Horse archers and cavalry.

Those are the swadians, they have somewhat balanced garrisons. But note how Klargus doesn't have a single lancer, a tier 3 light cavalry with lance. But he has tons of infantry instead.

Take a look at Sarranid armies, tons of troops missing.

Now, start a game with hardest setting so they actually do have ALL the troops available to their faction, and now the ridicilousness in the garrison and lord armies will become clear. Look which troop is the most common in swadian garrisons on ''hardest'', yeah, you guessed it, the fucking tier 3 light cavalry with a lance: The Lancer.

Garrisons get reinforced with party templates a and b only. 65% chance a and 35% chance b. Lord parties get a, b and c. 50% chance a, 25% chance b and c. There, do with that what you will. You could just remove cavalry from templates a and b and put a heavy quantity of them in c and you should get cav in lord parties but none in garrisons.

scripts.txt. The highlighted 65 is the chance of a garrison getting party template "a" (or j in very hard). There's also a 50 and a 75 in there. The 50 is the chance of a lord party getting a. With the 75, it's that minus the 50 to get the chance of getting b. I was on the side of the Silverstag devs throughout most of this, but now that I really understand how this works, I'm pretty damn dumbfounded by the decisions that have been made here.

Things are actually pretty sensible on the easy game mode; the party template that is exclusive to lord parties has Swadian Lancers and Men at Arms. The ones that go to garrisons have exclusively infantry and ranged. The problem is that they're absolute fodder tier garbage.

Then on the normal game mode there are no Lancers. They just removed Lancers. Why...? Men at Arms are at least still exclusive to lord parties and garrisons have some higher tier stuff, but they're completely deprived of the Swadian Sergeant, which is only for lord parties for some reason. Weird.

Then shit goes full retard on hard and very hard. Lancers are back in big numbers and they are EXCLUSIVELY in the party templates that both garrisons and lord parties recruit from. The one troop that's perfect for the field and just a terrible choice for garrisons is kept out of the party template that is exclusive to lord parties. WHY? What possible reason could exist for this? And STILL, Swadian Sergeants are exclusively for lord parties when they would be great in garrisons. Just swap them. Make Sergeants available to both lord parties and garrisons and Lancers exclusive to lord parties. It seems so obvious. Why would you do the reverse?

I'm still a big fan of Windyplans cause he's done some fantastic coding, but come on son, what is this?

Are axes a viable way to play 1257?

I just started out and went to one of them fancy tournaments, when suddenly they put a nigga in full armor on a horse against me while I stood there with my retarded pony and sword/shield.

Bought an axe later and used my demounted horse for cover while smacking that dude with my axe and won the whole tournament that way. Can swords pierce armor too?

Didn't get to try it in my first short attempt, but logically pierce attacks should work against armor? Whats the best way to deal with mounted armored enemies in the end? Thrusty pointy sticks? Sword damage seems kinda low.

It seems to be that lords only pick the first four troops listed in the first kingdom reinforcment for its difficulty. So for example I've got Sentries, Skirmishers, Psiloi, Peltasts, Koursores and Longbowmen (in that order) in pt_kingdom_2_reinforcments_J. AI lords (I was told), pick from all three of these templates, while garrisons only pick from the first two. The Longbowmen and Koursores are exclusively in this first template, and there isn't a single Vaegir lord with any of those two troops, so I assume then that they only pick from the first four in the first template atleast?

Well some of them are good, for example the Siegemaster of Shariz is a really good troop, with two quivers of bolts and is cheap to hire and pay (50% reduction to both), the Nord town/castle specific troops fill the missing void of cavalry, I've rebalanced the Vaegir to cater to what's missing, the Sarranid have besides the Siegemaster, one of the best melee infantry units in the game (Sultan Guard), the Swadians have absolutely beastly center specific troops, the Praven Knight is basically the strongest unit in the game.

just fixed several bugs with sieges and raids in my modded native
1. you now get loot and prisoners when fighting inside a village
2. you now get loot and prisoners when joining an allied siege
3. you can no longer "leave area" in a castle siege to avoid taking casualties from retreating like a little shit
