Seriously, Chaos is a literal steamroll compared to all that I've played. Most entertaining playstyle is still desert nomad horse archer for me. However I can't figure out what kind of army to make out of it. I've been considering supplementing my cavalry with missile troops and fast moving infantry units. Does it sound good?

That's it. I'm sick of all this "finest oak busse" bullshit that's going on in the Warband system right now. Nord boats deserve much better than that. Much, much better than that.

I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine Nord boat in Kingdom of Nords for about 2,400,000 denars (that's about 20,000 cabbages) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 years now. I can even sail waves of solid ice with my Nord boat.

Nord boatmasters spend years working on a single Nord boat and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest boats known to mankind.

Nord boats are thrice as large as Swadian boats and thrice as fast for that matter too. Any wave a Vaegir boat can cut through, a Nord boat can cut through better. I'm pretty sure a Nord boat could easily drown a knight wearing full plate with a simple gangplank.

Ever wonder why Swadia never bothered conquering Kingdom of Nords? That's right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined Nords and their boats of destruction. Even in their 467th declaration of war, Sarranid soldiers targeted the Nords with the boats first because their sailing power was feared and respected.

So what am I saying? Nord boats are simply the best boats that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better stats in the Warband system.

I was surprised really how hard things are in this version of the mod.

I fight like a proper Champion of Chaos. I get an honor guard of elite units, and a blob of shitty to good units on a hill. Enemy tries to charge up the hill, then I flank and counter charge with my honor guard into the thick of the fighting in glorious combat. It's not unusual to kill around a hundred enemies by myself, a couple hundred more by my Warriors.

Only thing this strategy fails against is Tomb Kings, because Tomb Kings are op as fuck.

The Spanish are kinda shit in the game. They have the best melee troops in the game, but every faction has the same amount of Lords at the start, no matter how big or small they are. Which means the Spanish will mostly likely lose almost all of their towns to the Brotherhood or to the French. If you want to purge the Spanish, you need to do it fast.

You could say that.

It still takes place in Calradia, with all new troop trees and a huge amount of new weapons/armor. There's an invading faction full of ghosts and demons and golems and shit that comes in also.

I'm using Tweakbro's version in the pastebin which rebalances the mod and increases party sizes among other things. The mod is great for having huge battles. It runs very well compared to many other large mods, at least for me.

i feel like the near completion of the game with the inclusion of lords and armies and conquering of towns in 0.89x was ultimately what killed the modding scene
it forced most mods to play almost the same by defining the game as a map-conquest game, whereas when the game was more empty it was more of a blank slate where modders could easily take the game in any direction they wanted

I started the game with pretty much all of the lords hating me. I have been struggling just trying to get relations to positive. So they won't listen to me. yes, talk to a lord of a faction (not the king) and ask if he has need for mercenaries
you can also do freelancer but mercing is way better

it's better for getting levels for your troops (if you're a lord since mercs don't upgrade) or xp for your companions rather than turning a large profit
though tournaments are very profitable, and killing bandits can be profitable if you manage to pick up the flag off the flag carrier
btw you should get companions ASAP (which you easily can) there are more but they're only accessible if you're a lord

Okay lads, I really like Silverstag but I've got a few issues with it.

- First of all, the troop trees are not balanced. The Vaegirs suck dick, as do the Khergits I think.
- There are numerous troops across all the factions that are missing certain armour pieces, or use weapons not optimal for their stats, or have stats that make no sense, etc. .
- The Vaegirs, according to the dev of the mod itself, are ''hit with small army sizes twice than other factions'', this is the reason why they always lose as the game progresses beacuse they almost always lose auto-calculated battles.

Besides those three, I don't remember having any other major issues with the mod.

Now. I'm willing to spend some time going through every single troop in the game and ''fixing'' them, including changing the Vaegir troop tree to the best of my ability by giving them new stats and new equipment. But I don't know how to add/remove abilities from various troops, as you know abilities are a major thing in Silverstag, but I have no idea how to add and remove them from troops.

I'm open to suggestions as to how to fix the ''small army size'' issue with Vaegirs. I remember giving them all ~30-50 more Charisma before, which effectively increased army size by 30-50, which made them more effective in auto-calculated battles. Do you know of any better fix for this issue?

Also, does anyone know how to add/remove abilities to various troops in Silverstag? I'd love to learn this as it would make the balancing much easier.

I'm not tweakbro, I'm not very technical, I don't know how to mod for shit, but I'm willing to go full autist mode with Morgh's Editor.

Okay so first of all. Hundreds upon hundreds of troops in battle in an unoptimized mess. All you do is go to taverns and mass-recruit mercenaries, you never invest in low level troops and level them up and so on. The end-game is trying to get as many aoe firearms troops as possible to kill large amounts of undead. In tournaments you glide around as if walking on ice.

Just tested underswing in the arena with one handed axe and it's works fine for the player but the AI seems to have hard time actually hitting with it. I was just standing right in front of the guy with no shield trying to block it with down block but the swings never connected.

Okay so apparently they're all set in hub_scripts.py, which is located in the Source - Center Management folder. You'll want to ctrl+f script_ce_assign_troop_ability.

So where it has e.g.
(call_script, "script_ce_assign_troop_ability", "trp_r_vaegir_cavalrycaptain", BONUS_TACTICIAN, BONUS_UNASSIGNED),

Change BONUS_TACTICIAN to whatever you want. A full list of abilities is in combat_constants.py in the Source - Combat Enhancements folder.

The module system is a set of files that generate the text files when you run it. If you want to make changes to a mod, you don't download the module system from the TaleWorlds site. That is basically the Native source code. Instead, download the source code for the mod you want, in this case Silverstag. You can get it from moddb I believe.

When you've got it, you'll need to install python and make sure you set the correct path in the module_info.py file. These things are both explained in https://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=240255.0, feel free to ignore all the rest, or read it if you're curious about using the module system. Outside of that, if all you want to do is change those abilities, you won't need any technical skills whatsoever. Literally just open the files I specified in the Silverstag source code with the text editor of your choice and make changes I said. If you need anymore help I'll try to assist if I'm here, though I might go afk for a while soon.

You don't open Python, just install it (and follow the instructions on that forum post about setting the environment variable). When it's installed, that means double clicking compile.bat should actually work. You won't be directly running Python yourself. You need to edit the files in the source code, which is included in the .rar file that Silverstag comes in. Extract them to wherever the hell you want and open the ones I specified with a text editor. See >>137235832 for specifics. When you've made changes there, you double click the compile.bat file. I think I'm getting it now. Abilities can only be changed through editing source files, which means it would have to come before anything else, once ''uploaded'', no more changes to source file can be made.

No source files for 0.27.2 means I can't add/remove abilities for that version, there are source files for 0.27.3 though but when I tried compiling just as it was (I presume that generates the files to play?), it generates errors and doesn't work.
