I love this DLC but I feel really mixed about it too. Feels really buggy and not well tested. Jezebel just stays forever at your settlement and can't be moved. Codsworth can't equip the Bowler hat even if you fix him. Does he still give you purified water every now and then?

I don't use utility mods (like the doorways inside one, whatever it's called) because I'm paranoid about breaking something. I modded Oblivion heavily and it turned into a tangled mess of conflicting mods that was so bad I ended up just doing a clean install and now I never want to go down that road again.

Bethesda cannot provide tools to add new animation and animation behaviors because they use Havok's behavior software to create them in the first place. Most software like that comes with the caveat that you can't provide tools to edit those files (the engine I use had something similar). There were solutions in Skyrim but they were always really painful, and they still didn't allow for some full-fledged stuff. They've said that they're trying to alleviate it as best they can, but that license is still in place for Fallout 4.

Everything is hyper modular now, things like hallways and corners are actually prefabs that are a collection of floor and wall pieces. Standardized transitions between tilekits. Objects in the same category and materials in the same category can be switched between on the fly with the mouse wheel, which lets you build a full hallway, then swap out pieces for variation or different looks super quickly. This applies to greebles and doodads, as well as technology and machines. So I can theoretically build a full ferris wheel from the existing parts with no problems, and turn it into a prefab to treat it as a single object too.

To truly allow somebody to RP, the PC's backstory should be an absolute mystery in terms of the game.

Nora was a pre-war lawyer, got married and had a son in Boston.
Nate was in the pre-war military, got married and had a son in Boston.

These are pretty fucking big points of a character's life covering a large span of what they did prior to the game's start. This is like starting a game of DnD and being told by the DM my character has to have this backstory at this location and then expect me to roleplay.
