I don't see any logic in 3's matchmaking. Including weapon upgrades in matchmaking kills twinking by itself (except maybe magic based twinking). The consenting host req invalidates the entire concept of an invasion and the summon requirement makes WoB and the Sentinels redundant, if not outright useless. It's just like DaS 2, where several anti-twink mechanics made each other useless.

Why is there a Soulsborne general and a Bloodborne general? Isn't the whole point of /vg/ to keep series contained to their own threads? Why multiples?

Haven't you got that yet? In terms of single player gameplay they're great, but on a technical level they're janky and at least half of the fucking covenants are always worthless. Gravelords, way of white, chaos servants, princess guard, they were all basically fucking useless except to get access to maybe a few spells or items. And the dragons and blues had extremely limited usefulness in terms of pvp. Only reds and forest faggots were at all useful for pvp.

I want DaS3 to have a Scraping Spear equivalent.

Way of the White was fine for an early covenant. Chaos Servants were a PvE covenant and functioned well for what they did. Princess guard was worthless.

Dragon's worked perfectly. Dragon Duels were amazing, and the first /dsg/ event was actually done using it (Level 40 Dragon Duels in the Blighttown arena - pre-Quelaag gear only).

Blues only failed because reds would purposely kill the boss of an area before invading. All they really needed to do was let Blues invade even if an area boss was dead.

Way of the white worked because it was in the first non-tutorial area of the game. It wasn't meant to be end game, hence why I mentioned it being an early covenant.

That was the whole point of the dragons. You only fought people that wanted to fight and it was forced 1v1.

For those of you who didn't watch the JPN stream, here's a summary of what happened. I only watched the second half, so I couldn't say what happened before that.

1. Player was around SL40
2. He was pure STR build. He had like 35STR by the end of his streaming session.
3. He got to the point where he beat the Deacons of the Deep boss at the Cathredal of the Deep area.
4. Cathedral of the Deep is fucking huge. Like massive in scale. Lots of interconnecting paths and switches and shit. Reminds me of the church castle in Resident Evil 4.
5. Gear found included Llewellyn Set
6. One of the NPC invaders was literally Kirk, Knight of Thorns. Yes, you read that right. It's Kirk. From DaS1.
7. By beating him, you get the thorn sword and the thorn shield. He's still as dumb and easy as he was from DaS1.
8. Loot included Pursuer's Ultragreatshield.
9. Lots of Paladin-esque enemies (deus volt, etc.).
10. Enemies also included the DaS1 giants from Sen's Fortress.
11. The boss was Deacons of the Deep.
12. It's a mob swarm boss that mixes Prowling Magus, Celestial Emissary and Royal Rat Vanguard.
13. Basically, there are a ton of monks. One of them glows red. You have to kill that red monk. If you kill him, the boss bar health depletes. If you don't kill him fast enough, the glow moves to another monk. Once you kill the red glowing monk, another monk will glow red. You basically rinse and repeat the killing process until the boss is dead.
14. Doesn't seem that hard. Maybe a 4/10 in terms of difficulty. Maybe a 1/10 if you had high fire resistance that could negate the fireball spam from the monks.

Around 60% HP, the pope spawns and the enemy horde swarms around him to protect him.
At this point, the only way to damage the boss is to hit the pope.

It was obscenely large. You basically start from a small side church with a bonfire, navigate through a swamp area that progresses into a huge mazelike cemetary, then onto the side of the cathedral, which you scale similar to the exterior of anor londo in DaS1. This area took about 30 minutes to progress through and eventually leads to an elevator that links back to the bonfire. Then, you actually enter the cathedral and it continues to be a whole area which eventually links back to that first bonfire again.

The exterior was longer than the entirety of Cainhurst and the interior was equally as long. The low damage of enemies kind of made sense because the distance between bonfires was so extreme that the player struggled to make it to the next shortcut even with 7 flasks.
