Contrast is at 50 on my monitor. I have game brightness set lowest in game but that's because it any higher and it looks washed out on my screen. I can see everything clearly in that screen, the metal gear is clearly visible. someone always says the scrrens are too dark but it's noit too dark on my end. It's how the hbao makes the game look in large part too.

Really though, aside from the mission where stealth is out the window and you need a distraction/support against bullet sponges like the skulls, she's pretty counter productive. If you're doing side ops or fully lethal rambo runs she's pretty fun though.

So, is it possible to port quiet from MGO as a playable character in single player? Not just model swapping but like you can play as her.

Yeah, I was raiding this guys Base Dev, and the defender appeared right before I got to that last strut.

I knew there was no way I could get those resources, so I just focused on getting to the core. The defender probably thought to defend his materials, because I actually never even saw him, but I could hear him moving around the containers as I crawled my way into the core.

So, that's how I managed to win even with a developer.

Yeah.

I was on a Security Challenge, back when it worked, on a high level abandoned FOB. Didn't expect anyone to show up.

I was pretty surprised when a defender in fact did show up, and he tried taking some pot shots at me. I ended up getting a pretty sweet headshot on him a strut away, but he just quit after that.

I don't consider that really beating him, the guy just quit after getting killed once.

So, don't give up. I know that the FOB info in the OP says you don't stand a chance, but you can win vs defenders, it's not impossible, just realize that it is stacked in their favor.

Beating a defender usually comes down to a few things -

1) They're relatively inexperienced. If the defender doesn't have a Level 99 Intel Team and doesn't track you by idroid, your chances improve.
1a) On certain platforms you can give a defender the slip if you manage to stay out of alert status and they overreach trying to find you without knowing how to chase you down properly.
2) You eliminate a defender so many times they disconnect.

Yeah. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like there is much of a MGS multiplayer community that can really push back, and I personally question how much Konami really cares or how much effort it's really willing to put forward.

Like, I doubt we're going to get the BF4 treatment in terms of support.

He's just boring in TPP, especially compared to MGS1-4, where he just ate the scenery like it was nothing. Ocelot in the other games was a very flamboyant, over the top character, and the whole 'gunslinger' motif came through a lot more.

You could look up some stuff on youtube from MGS1-4, or you could play them as well and get the full experience, but it's a night and day difference. The character in TPP is Ocelot in name only.

It's unknown exactly when Ocelot lets Miller in on Big Boss's plan, it's possible Ocelot let him in on the secret early, and/or I get the feeling Kaz might have suspected it himself.

I think Ocelot might have let Kaz know early, so that tension is there from that point forward.

I'd have loved Mother Base to have had more personality and more camaraderie for all member. Hell, I'm planning on playing Peace Walker this week to see if I can find it there.

However, it's understandable why BB went along. Ocelot had already told him before PW that making MSF was dangerous because it was so exposed. After MSF was blown to hell by what was essentially scuba divers with C4, BB figured that Ocelot was right, and decided to do things from the shadows like Ocelot said to do from the beginning.

So i'm a bit late to this but recently I got into MGO.

Is it just me or is this way too fast paced? It feels like nobody bothers sneaking and people just sprint everywhere with their assault rifles and shooting everyone until they die. This feels almost like playing a third-person cod.

Maybe, that could be it. But I think MGO has very little to do with sneaking, but also a lot of the mechanics don't mesh well for a multiplayer game.

Frankly, I think the whole way they approached MGO was wrong.

I think they should have made MGO just what your combat teams do when they're on deployment. You get missions like "Secure the Bridgeheads." And you can just send a team to it, or you could play MGO, and play it out, where you and some other people from other PFs get together to secure 3-4 bridges to some islands for the main force.

You fight against others who are fighting against the opposite side, and if you win, you get GMP, resources, plants and other rewards to return back to your PF.

But as it stands, the multiplayer just frustrates me because of how shitty a lot of the weapons are, with huge sways, even when prone and standing still. A lot of the mechanics just encourage running around like a headless chicken and only really engaging at short distance. I'm not saying it's got to be ARMA or anything, but MGO just feels like it's encouraging the lowest denominator of twitchy arcade shooter gameplay at all costs, outright ignoring TPP and anything even thematically/spiritually close to itself.

Kojima fucked up with mgsv but konami has been killing off all of their franchises for years now and he was not involved in all of them. that being said it's disappointing, more than TPP was.
netcode, matchmaking are pretty bad. lag is a problem, but I don't think i've played a game where people don't complain about lag.

the main problem is it's just so vanilla and uninspired, given that, I don't think they can even improve on it or turn it into something good even if they had the resources/manpower. there's probably 5 guys working on MGO3 in a closet at Konami Jp, this is probably their last project before they get transfered to janitorial duties

Been playing this for the last hour it's so fun. A couple weapons sound a lot better than in tpp specifically the amd pistol. The main thing that's so fun is the level itself though. Makes me wish they had more modern/new concrete multi level facilities in tpp. The enclosed areas in gz are so fun to have firefights in. It's awesome to hear the acoustics change as you go from open to enclosed area and see bullet holes and shells fill up a room. GZ just feels more fun to play arcadey run and gun, things feel like action figures it's weird I can't explain it but the super precise and sensitive dof create a scale illusion that's really immersive and interesting to look at.

the ragdolls are also better in gz. The wounded animation is worse and the way you kick bodies around is worse but the ragdolls from death are better. In tpp a lot of times guys will end up in the same exact pose on the ground when dead but in gz it never happens. The guns also sound snappier why did the gookchinks not incorporate the positives of gz into tpp. Oh yea the surface reflection profile is better in gz too. They toned it down for tpp for some reason though it's the same as gz in the shining lights mission.
