I've been looking at it too. Levelchanging via the debug menu to Red Forest put off the crash, but it still happened, just later than it did when I went through the actual level changer. In addition, Red Forest is completely controlled by the Monolith and it was just after a blowout. Don't know if that gives you anything to go off of.

If you look in the gamedata/configs/scripts/ folder and in the respective levels where helicopters fuck you, you'll find that the helis have respawn zones in the same way that bandits etc would, just with different respawn times and shit.

So for instance, if you go into gamedata/configs/scripts/agroprom/smart/ and open the file agr_smart_terrain_1_6_near_2.ltx, you'll see in the section [respawn@agr_smart_terrain_1_6_near_2] there is a line (underneath some commented out lines) that says: spawn_heli. If you comment that out it won't respawn. You may need to unpack the games databases to find these files.

Or you could change where it says "simulation_helicopter_strong" to something like "army_sim_squad_novice" and it will spawn a novice army squad instead of a helicopter.

On reflection I used to be just like you and being negative doesn't help anything.

I can tell you right away that those mods don't conflict at all and that you can install them in any order you wish and nothing will happen. In the future, though, most mods that do conflict will not play nicely together and it will 100% be beyond your ability to merge them. Most mods where merges are necessary will have a note of it in the readme and you'll be able to open up the files and do it yourself.

If you are ever concerned that a mod might not be able to work with another one you're installing, pay attention to what files it asks you to overwrite. If it asks you to overwrite files that you know belong to the other mod, you'll have to merge them by using Notepad++ with the compare tool, finding all the lines in the files that conflict which are different, and adding them to the file that you want to keep.

Some mods simply cannot be used together, however, and you'll be able to tell because the amount of merges you would have to do to make them work is astronomical and most of them have to do with lines which are in both files, in which case you either have to find a compromise (usually impossible) or just pick a value and hope for the best (inadvisable). A good example is weapon mods; you wouldn't try to install STCSWP over AO3 (hopefully) because they will definitely conflict.

Generally speaking, though, if a mod deals with a separate 'area' of gameplay than another, such as Alife Unbalance and STCSWP, they will almost always be able to be used together, and if anything does need to be merged, it will be simple to do.

One of the few mods I've not had many problems with was DMMAE:PE; not with crashes and it floated my boat. So instead of crying like a little bitch how you think other mods are better, fix the countless crashes in the other DMM's/add options for interfaces. Yeah, it's more of a battle rifle than a sniper rifle. I like it cause of the big mag, full auto if I need it, and it's accurate enough to get headshots out to a considerable distance. I find the ammo isn't really an issue as I can always afford to snap up the entire 80 rounds whenever I'm by a trader who's selling it and that will definitely last me until I get to the next trader. I don't think you ever need an actual sniper rifle in the zone, though, so that's just my two cents.

I remember I changed that option (that one and the NPC sighting) in Misery in some config files (which wasn't too bad as I just had to lower the overall distance any NPC could see me. Can't seem to find it in any of the configs in CoC for some reason, sorry.

Also as a general question for CoC: I've got Ao3.1 working and pasted the faction patches folder as well, but now it seems like none I kill has any ammo on them aside from the full clip/magazine that is still in their weapon. Is this supposed to be the case for 'muh artificial difficulty' or did the faction patches override the normal drops instead of adding to it?

It was quite weird, seeing as the vanilla CoC doesn't seem to have those files located in the gamedata folder at all, so I couldn't quite compare them with eachother. I did find a folder called 'Ammo drop fix for AO3' in the 'optional' folder for the release version of CoC, which I ended up simply pasting in the 3.1 version of AO. After that I added/merged it with the faction patch folder and voilá, now everyone drops ammo AND a patch.

This is probably going to end in some sort of crash at some point but hey, jury rigging STALKER is part of the experience.

Don't bother with the brightness and gamma settings. Go to Atmosfear options and load the default color balance and weather settings, then adjust r2_sun_lumscale, r2_sun_lumscale_amb, and r2_sun_lumscale_hemi in-game from the console. I've found that 0.5 works well for all three, then adjusting "hemi" higher or lower until the lighting looks natural.

Why not? I have stamina regeneration artifacts to compensate for the extra weight, and the fully upgraded SEVA suit provides some as well. It was expensive as hell, but well worth it. I could probably go without the VSS and just carry a scope for the LR-680 instead, but leading shots and adjusting for the bullet drop on the VSS is satisfying.

Yesterday when I was stalking in the vehicle graveyard level, I found three bandits unaware of my presence, and shot one of them in the head with the VSS. I watched the other two to see what they'd do, and they both actually started looking around, back and forth, trying to see where I was. It took about 5-10 seconds until one of them spotted me up in the guard tower I was in and began shooting at me. I don't know if it's CoC or AO 3.1 that improved the stealth mechanics or what, because I don't recall ever seeing that happen in the many hours I've played CoP or SoC.

I have more than enough supplies to last a week. Each of those medkits have multiple uses, and with the two Mica artifacts plus the SEVA, that's a constant +20 wound healing, the equivalent of a bandage. Sounds like you may enjoy the Warfare addon, then. It spawns both faction squads around the levels and mutant "squads" in the mutant lairs.

And you could use the debug menu to "fast travel" if that's what you're into.

The one in OSGE is greenish-white. Is there just white night vision? I don't now I just enjoyed how spooky it was without nightvision and how I couldn't see shit. I guess it evens the playing field though because the AI apparently is omniscient and can snipe you a mile away in darkness. Looking forward to the heat vision in the new version of OSGE.

Seriously, though, why does Accuracy for some assault rifles show as a completely empty bar in STCSWP? Are the guns really that inaccurate? Did it just expand the meaning of accuracy? If that is the case, why do my shotguns have higher accuracy listed than my AK-74?

So the accuracy bar on the HUD does take only the fire_dispersion_base into account, then. Crouching and aiming with a scope/iron sights decreases the dispersion. Certain ammo types can also decrease the gun's dispersion, and even increase/decrease its damage, so the bars on the HUD are a rather useless thing to go by.

Yes it is the same model.
Reading there is 3.94 microSv/h which is not really dangerous but way above background (0.10-20 microSv/h).
The highest I got on this probe of pitchblende is ~7 microSv/h, beta+gamma.
Sadly this device can't really (only a few alpha particles make it into the GM tube and even less have the energy to ionize the gas at this point) detect alpha but alpha gets absorbed by a few cm of air so it doesn't really matter.
I got this one for ~70€ and it's a really good one.
It's small, cost is low, low weight, beta+gamma, takes normal batteries and the batteries hold for a good time, does microSv/h and microR/h, can measure activity in becquerel per cm^2 and it is pretty sturdy (russian-type sturdy).
You don't need to know russian (I read the alphabet and it says things like: "min, mkSV, mR" on it) you can find videos and pdfs and shit about operrating it on the internet.
For a first one this thing is great.

I think I had dynamic mask overlay and dynamic hud patch for STCSWP before installing everything from Anonguy's Mod. I've noticed however that the my ui_custom_msgs.xml has different size than the one from dynamic hud so I tried reinstalling. That just might be it. I'll test it in few hours.

Be more careful. Bandits tend to spawn south of the bridge in pretty large numbers, and they also tend to spawn in the group of buildings across the road, not to mention that there are often enemies under the bridge itself. You probably just didn't realize there were that many groups around.

AA in stalker only affects terrain and buildings, not so much the foliage, so it really doesn't seem like the jaggie's are reduced even on x4. You might have more luck forcing it through your GFX Control Panel but at a high performance cost.

I may just download it and merge it with Warfare if it fixes some things you found annoying and you don't care. If it switches traders to their default factions, the only reason I did that was as a temporary fix to make it so that you actually have traders available when you conquer new areas.

I'll include it in 0.4.1 or something if hes cool with that, I want to try and release 0.4 tonight. I've unfortunately had real life to deal with and haven't been very productive haha.

Anyways, does it sound annoying to only be able to target the player level and linked levels for faction control? I've been trying to think of a better system than typing in every fucking terrain manually. Issue is, in the current version of warfare, invasions are staged from a specific level that is linked to the target level so that I can have what I'm calling mini-expansion sets for each level based on the direction the invading faction is entering that level from. The way this works is that it looks at the target level and then will find the expansions which correspond to that target level + the staging level.

I guess its not an issue if I choose a random owned and linked level to the target level to stage the invasion from in manual control, though you wouldn't have a say in which level is the staging level if I went that route (unless I made a second combobox/dropdown list). Though I'll also be doing away with the "Switch Control" button and making it so that whenever you hit "Send Order" with a smart terrain typed in, it will just send a squad there instead of highlighting it for targeting.

I think that system sounds nice, although being able to type in individual terrains is a nice feature to have. Honestly the basic gameplay of the mod is pretty tight, it delivers what I and a lot of other guys on here are enjoying without any major changes. Yeah, it might be nice if labs were involved, if there were dynamic missions or something, but right now I'm fine with just gradual UI fixes or whatever.

If you want to merge it sure, I dont have a problem with it, It gives Sakharov (I was originally going to give it to Nokikov, the ecolog tech guy in jupiter, but i dont think he's in your all.spawn), one of the merc guys, one of the army guys, barman, and a couple of other people with PDAs and fixes Zhorik and the other bar guard to trader along with a couple of other people.
Also yes, its for the "every one is a trader" version, if you want me to make another one for default factions i dont have a problem with it.

I'm being a little lazy right now in that I just finished up finals and have unfortunately started binging on a show. It may be a couple more hours or so until I release this new version.

Though I feel like I'm hyping it up when I shouldn't be. All I've done is make it so that the core AI can actually redirect squads on their way to targets instead of only being able to redirect squads already at their destinations. Also the mini-expansion sets so battles can be more directed for people (optional).

Then there is going to be the new faction control. Everything but this is done currently. So if people don't give a fuck about that I guess I could release 0.4 tonight and release 0.4.1 tomorrow which would have the better faction control.

look for scope_status in the config files. That is what dictates whether or not it uses a scope texture. If the scope_status is set to 0 it won't use any scope and you can edit the iron sights.

For instance w_svd.ltx has scope_status = 1 meaning attachable in stcswp, but if you set it to scope_status = 2 or whateer its attachable.

Should get an /sg/ weapon pack going or something. Only thing stopping me is some front faces to polygons acting like they are back faces or being removed due to optimization in the stalker actor editor.
