I killed all bosses up until BSB first try my first playthrough. I must've died somewhere around 20 times and I farmed at least 1 hour for vials and antidotes. I was so fucking mad that night especially as friends who got their asses handed to them by Cleric and Gascoigne killed him within a couple of attempts.

Well id argue that not everything in this game needs to explicitly stated. We fight tons of beast enemies in this game, some them are especially "holy" like Amelia and Laurence, yet they dont have "eyes". Ludwig's sword is associated with "tiny beings of light" and he has a second head that is literally lined with eyes.

You can see it that way if you want but to me that's a pretty gross misreading of everything that happens in that fight. Ludwig starts off fighting you as a screeching malformed beast, and that's malformed even in comparison to other beasts. He's on all fours, thrashing wildly and howling. But then, as soon as he spots his sword (with his more human-looking and clear eye, mind you, unlike the other one that's covered over in beast milkiness), he suddenly starts speaking, he stands upright, and he starts fighting with a weapon like a human would. His strikes are sure, precise and indicate martial skill. And that monologue that he delivers is that he's surprised to see HMLS at his side still, then refers to it as his "true mentor" and "guiding moonlight."

Most strikingly, the last image you see of that mid-fight cutscene is Ludwig holding his sword in front of him, his more human eye holding a steady, level gaze at the camera, while the moonlight blade completely blocks his more beastlike eye out of the frame. A complete 180 from the slavering monster that you saw at the beginning of the fight.

This combination of visual storytelling and monologue clearly illustrates that Ludwig still loves that sword and what it represents to him. He sees the world around him as very dark, an endless nightmare, and himself as a monster, twisted and defiled by that world. And he worries that all he did was for naught, that the heavy sacrifices he made achieved nothing and his legacy was forgotten. But he still reveres that moonlight, that thread of light, as guidance, and the mere sight of it in a time of need is enough to return his senses to him, to remind him of who he is, or was. Quite literally, for him it's the one point of light in an endless night, one comfort to hang on to through his suffering.

Flat: adds flat damage to the weapon. No matter what level you are at, no matter how to weapon scales, it will add the same amount of damage to it. Mostly useless but arc ones can be good for certain weapons

Scaling: Improve the scaling of the weapon. For example, if the gem boosts STR scaling, a weapon might go from a B to an A in Strength scaling

Really you want all 27.2% phys attack up gems with a curse that doesn't matter like 'stamina costs increased by 3%' or something. You can finetune with other gems later but you should have a few 27.2s as a foundation

Flat gems add as the name implies, flat damage to a weapon. They're really useful for multi-hit weapons like the Wheel, but they don't get included in damage multiplier calculations

Phys gems increase the damage of your weapon by the x%, based off your base damage and scaling. Which with the new patch abyssal scaling gems are really good now

Scaling gems are a touchy subject so I'll just leave this link for you and hope it helps

Is anyone else disappointed there hasn't been a proper player boss since demon's souls old monk?
There are virtually no other games that do this, and it was the most fun i've had in a video game in a long time, knowing I was the area boss, and they had to defeat me to advance their game along.

I need 20k souls and I haven't downed a boss yet, without bosses where's the best place to farm?
