I gotta ask, how have builds evolved over the past 7 months or however long its been.
I've not played Bloodborne since the second month after release I think, and I didn't keep up with PvP much at all.

I sorta remember that you wanted high Vit, maybe 40/40 or something close in your damage stats and I don't remember END being all that fantastic.

You don't need to beat the orphan to get it, go into the village well and bring a Shaman blade. For the 2nd form, you just have to be paitent and wait for an opening. His attacks and his acid rain have a long combo string/recovery so if you can dodge his first attack, you can land a charge hit on him before he recovers. Also fight next to the entrance to avoid lightning.

Badly designed gank squads are what ruined DaS2.

Shadows have no bullshit moves, the arena gives you freedom of movement, they can be isolated for maximum damage, and the fight itself changes as you kill them.

It's okay when Miyazaki does it because the boss fight was literally fine. The worst part about it was the FPS dropping into single digits if you entered the fog gate with them already spawned.

Hell, those guys are normal enemies later complete with the same moves they'll use in the nightmare. It isn't like they put unique enemies together with crazy movesets in a tight corridor.

You have a gun to deal with enemies at range effectively in Bloodborne. Not to mention in that bossfight you can utilize the pillar to avoid the fireballs.

I like to say a boss is ultimately a combination of three things: Style, Atmosphere and Challenge.

Style is mostly visual design, including how the boss looks and feels. Audio design is also an important part.

Atmosphere is mostly about location, but also covers things like significance to the lore.

Challenge isn't necessarily saying that a boss being difficult makes it better, it's an appreciation for how much of a challenge the boss poses for when in the game you fight it. Gascoigne, for example, is actually fairly straightforward and easy to parry once you know what you're doing, but for a new player he's just hard enough to force them to learn how to play. In that way, he's absolutely great in terms of being the appropriate level of challenge for being the first boss.

This DLC has further confused me about the story. I get that alien blood made people lose their miss and turn into beasts and such.

What makes no sense is the Nightmare baby Mergo, the Hunters Dream, and the Hunters Nightmare. What the hell made these alternate dimension hellscapes and how does it have the power to trap the souls of dead hunters who lose their damn minds?

There still isn't a good Farming Spot for Blood Stone Chunks right? I want to upgrade the Rakuyo but Upper Cathedral Ward and Chalice Dungeons are such a Pain.

In case people are still having problems with Maria, remember the following:

1. She staggers easily but can recover quickly. High damage, slow weapons probably won't get many hits, but a quicker weapon can literally stun lock her for an entire combo.

2.Parries in her first and even second form are relatively easy. Third form gets harder but remember that shooting her staggers her even if you miss the parry window. Sometimes it's not a bad idea to shoot her and then move in and beat her up while she's staggered.

3. Be aware of the differences between her charged attacks. Her most common one is her long distance slash, which can easily be out ranged, but she has a stab that will cross the entire arena and can easily one hit, especially on her later phases. That stab and the slash have different charging poses.

4. It's completely possible to parry a move, wail for your entire stamina bar and then parry another move while your stamina recovers. This is how I dealt with her first phase, literally stun locking her in a corner with hits and parries until she went into her second phase.

5. Her massive range will make you want to stay away from her. Do not do this. Range gives her the advantage; instead, get up close and try to stay to her side. Many of her attacks are mostly forward facing and often move forward, meaning that if you're at her side, you can easily end up behind her and in prime position to pummel her tight ass.


In general, don't be afraid. Keep the pressure on and abuse the fact that she staggers like a bitch.

You have to remember that there are many Great One's, and they're all in competition with one another. It's the world Lovecraft thought up - the universe is endlessly large, doesn't exist in one dimension and contains an endless amount of creatures. Some like humans, but more powerful others that transcend both our reality and understanding.

So the 'nightmares' are just domains controlled by Great One's. To my understanding, Mergo was competition for the Moon Presence (Paleblood), so Paleblood uses humans to kill it (in the form of the hunt). The Hunters Dream is created by Palebloods power - it's a reality that exists outside our own, hence why we can die and return. And the Hunters Nightmare - well I'm not certain because I ahven't completed it yet, but you get the idea.

The funny part about Bloodborne's story is that not understanding can be considered completely canon. Just thinking about a Great One can make someone go insane, so ignorance can be bliss.

Let's take something like Pinwheel for example. The OST places Pinwheel's soundtrack between the Gargoyles and Gaping Dragon. The Clerics leave to go through the Catacombs after you kill Capra Demon. It's plain to see that they ultimately planned for the player to fight Pinwheel around that time, and if you view his level of difficulty versus that expectation, he's fine. In practice, however, most players find themselves killing Pinwheel after getting the Lordvessel, and possibly having killed a few of the lategame bosses and as a result they'll usually shred through him like toilet paper.

Objectively, Pinwheel is fairly designed.
Subjectively, Pinwheel is a poor boss because 99% of the time, he's "too easy". He did a bad job.

Of course, there will be outliers caused by players needing to git fucking gud, but those will be absorbed in the long run thanks to averaging things out.

Personally I like stuff like fluctuating difficulty and the idea of weaker enemies in games, and you'll always have it in any decent game with multiple paths. Ah, I missed that post. Makes sense. So byrgenwerth they used the eyes from the fish people to speed up evolution and that's where Rom came from. Rom blocked Willem's thoughts and the pale moon so the school of mensis (which followed willem's teachings) had to use a child to beckon the old one, and they used Yahrnam's child Mergo to call for the old one that you fight as Mergo's wet nurse, which hosts the nightmare through Micolash.
Meanwhile the choir gained an audience with Ebrietas by using their artificial ayylmaos they made with the experiments shown in the DLC.

It really depends on how lucky your dodges get. You have to dodge aggressively and dodge towards and past him most of the time or he will just chain you to death.

A lot of the time though his crazy movements block your dodge and you just dodge on the spot in his face instead of going past him. Doesn't help that all his attacks reach all the way behind him.

The church seems to have ultimately failed though because Ebrietas wasn't interested in anything and was ultimately not the source of the blood's curse.

Rom seems to be made by Kos to block the ritual, there's a note that says that "The Byrgenwerth spider hides all manner of rituals, and keeps our lost master from us. A terrible shame. It makes my head shudder uncontrollably." and "The spider hides all manner of rituals, certain to reveal nothing, for true enlightenment need not be shared."

Alternatively, Rom might have been artificially made using Kos parasites (she has Lumenwood all over her) and used to block the ritual by another faction.
