Was super hard on my arcane build too. Bolt gemmed saw spear did the trick for me. Midrange to bait his jumps in p1, and hug him hoping for the best in p2. Viscerals are useless since arcane builds shouldnt have a lot of skill.

Are there any Skill weapons that benefit a great deal from Beastmode? I've got the blade of mercy right now and it's decent, but the damage increase I get for max beasthood is not very high. It's also tough to actually get the full combo off on anything due to lack of hitstun. Was looking at the beasthunter saif, the move set looks nice with the escape from the transform attack.

Saif has two ARC scaling abyssals plus 27.2% fire gem.
Kos has one triangular 9.8% ARC+72 flat damage plus two 67 flat arcane gems. It's not even the highest damage output i can get, i will grind tomorrow for arcane gems with flat arcane bonus.

If anyone wants any tips on how to solo LUDWIG here is what i did:

New game+ stats and soul lvl
Level:100
vitality 30
endur:31
stre:34
skill:26
blood:12
arcan:17

Weapon: lvl 10 axe with 460atk

Rune:lake and great lake for maximum damage reduction,impurity to summon valtr and anticlock

Ludwig moves and how to avoid them but no gaurentee cause from cant make proper hit boxes:

Charge: move where he pauses for a second and lunges forward.Dodge to the left to avoid never to the right cause hell kill you with the horse head half of his body

pounce: the easy version to avoid where he jumps and lands on you. when he jumps you will automatically lose lock on of him so you should be able to roll to the left or right to avoid damdge

Ceiling crawl: the bullshit move where he crawls on the ceiling and lands on you.
The best way to avoid i found is to wait a few seconds till you see blood falling from the ceiling and run straight towards the directions hes coming from and always run to the left.
Dont try and jump roll or roll cause those will most likely get you hit and even then running under him like i have didi will still get you killed so its just a matter of luck bullshit

Claw swipes: never try and dash thru cause his baby arm will always hit you if you try so always back away

Want to make a str/arc build for the MLGS (in;b4 MLGS is a quality weapon! How dare you not go for the absolute optimum build!), hows the number on this build look, anything I should consider switched around a bit like taking 5 points out of vit and into arc for that tool damage?

it may consume time, but on NG can you just re-enter hunter nightmare to farm echoes that drop from killed beasts by Old Hunters? Like the 2 at the start.

cont:

Dash attack: this is the move he always uses first when you wal thru the fog gate.
Dodge diagonally left or right to avoid

chomp/bite attack: dash forward to the left never to the right because thats where his attacks come from.Never back dash cause he lunges forward while chomping at you at least 4 times so back dashing will get you hit

Phase 2 sword bull shit:

He has two AOE attacks one where he holds his sword downwards to create a ground shock similar to wrath of god then one where he holds his sword to the sky and does that giant tidal wave similar to the sky sword(the one you use on the flying manta ray) in demon souls.

Also, the version where he does the tidal wave also has a small burst AOE that can stun lock you before he swings it so back away from him and then run at him towards his back but beware as the move slightly homes in on you and he will slightly turn towards the direction you are running

All his other attack are easily avoidable if you dodge forward to the left or right while listening for his grunts( the noises he makes before he swings his sword) before he swing his sword.

Dont go crazy on him tho cause you need to be able to have stamina to constantly dodge around to his back to keep him from hitting you and he does have a quick turn around to hit you from behind so be careful and listen for the grunts.


I barely beat his ass and i was on a sliver of health when i delivered the finishing blow.

Also forgot to mention in the first post to summon one of the npc to help you deal with his first phase.
Dont get cocky if you make it to his second phase cause the npc will almost always die and you wil still have to solo him yourself.

It really obvious that bloodborne has rng bullshit when it comes to bosses being stunned.

Sometimes id hit ludwig once and it will stun him and other times he would tank my attacks and attack me thru them.

You can actually visceral him in his first phase i found out but its random as fuck and only happened once out of the forty times i fought him and it was the npc valtarr who did it.

At least in demon soul if you managed to hit a boss 5-6 times it would always stun them if i remember correctly so you'd always know when to go in, but in BB its random as fuck and you never expect it

Anyone got any info on summoning bugs in the dlc? I can help all I want for Ludwig but I can't summon for Laurence. Bell rings, but no bell maiden appears. Then I have to restart the ps4 if I want to co-op again. Happens every time I ring the beckoning bell.

If you don't catch his charge early enough, he'll one-shot you because, like everything else in this DLC, his tracking is absurd. The only one of his attacks that killed me, but it's pretty fucking bullshit and did so multiple times. The second form is laughably easy, though.

Ludwig has alot of bullshit most of which consist of him not having any cooldowns from these big ass one shot attacks.

Their aren't any openings when it comes to fighting ludwig like you would expect.

He is always constantly attacks and moving around.
You figure moves like the charge attack and ceiling slam would leave him idle for at least 10 seconds after he uses them but if you arent close to him after hes done doing the moves you wont get to punish him cause he start attacking and moving 2 seconds afte he uses them

So I just solod Ludwig on NG+ (harder than some chalice dungeons) and turned the leaver on this clocktower. Making my way down though, and I can't get back up, and have been looking for ages. Gonna try and reroll an arcane build to make the most of the return of the MLGS, and I'm missing an offhand weapon, help me out here guys.
Offensive-wise, I'm rolling 30/20/5/30, and with only 5 bloodtinge to work off, my options are limited.
Is the new shield any good? It looks cool.
Otherwise, would I be right in thinking pistol is the best option between the starting guns?

Don't invest in ARC if you're going to use the HMB. It doesn't actually gain much damage with high ARC. You're better off making a quality character if you want to make the most out of that weapon.

As for the Loch Shield, yes, it's pretty good. Very useful against bosses like Logarius and Orphan of Kos.

So, compared to the rape train that Horsefucker Ludwig was, Living Failurs and Maria were piss easy, especially once you get the parrying windows of the latter down.

That said, while this DLC feels kind of disjointed (which could be excused saying it's a Nightmare and all), all of it seems really fucking solid so far. Now I'll have to make a character for every fucking single weapon too.

I'll admit it here - It took me like 32 tries to beat Ludwig, but that's probably I came here on NG+ (really want Parasite for my madman character), so that's probably something that has to do with it.

I beat Living Failures on the 'first' try (First time I entered I let them kill me so I don't fuck up the Milkweed questline)

Maria took...about 8 tries maybe? I always have trouble getting down the parry windows for all attacks and end up eating most of her hits.
