Trying to beat Dragon Rush for the first time with Awoken Shiva, I failed my first attempt and I'm currently waiting for stamina for a second try and wanted to ask for some team building advice. With very few plusses, my subs are Hino/Yamato/Urd/Chiyome, but I was considering swapping out Chiyome for someone else better for insurance. Possibly Diza, Echidna, or R/L Leilan.
Beyzul always brings it down to the wire, and I have to get a little lucky with fire orbs, but with Chiyome I can pop her at the beginning and have her ready again by the time he's finished. L/L Fagan is probably the worst spawn, but I haven't had him yet. Does he ever spawn with 1 turn? And does Zaerog do his 3 attacks randomly? i.e. Should I expect him to use Black Disaster if I can't OHKO him?

I used to make those more regulary some time ago. I linked a board from a board simulator (I used http://pad.dawnglare.com/ but I hear that there are better alternatives, it wouldn't be a problem to change anyways), and me and whoever wanted tried to solve (read: reach the maximum amount of combos that the board allows) it under 30 combos.

Should I trade Chiyome for A.Ra? Hate to lose the quick orb changer, but 100% SBR is tempting, he's a plussed stat stick, and the time extend active would let me set up an easy 8-10 combos or overwrite dark Fagan's preemptive even if it can't make fires. And as a bonus, button-kill burgerdragon, even though he's super easy to kill with a Hino active. Only thing I'm really scared of now is doing enough damage on the first turn for Zaerog.

Wotc has such a huge emphasis on creatures instead of spells now. I love legacy, but if a collab did happen, it wouldn't be too central on spells. For example, planeswalkers could have spells for their skills. Bolas would be Cruel Ultimatum, and Jace could have... Uhh Time walk which delays the enemy and gives 1 second that turn.

There are some other single player enemies that I'm going to exclude since this list seemed like it was enough.
Let's compare it to EVA collab. Ignoring evolutions and themed Tamadras there are 7 cards in REM, and 5 in the dungeon so 12 altogether. I'm not sure how the Splatoon characters I listed could be split up but there are 22 there if Inkling boys/girls would be put in the same card which I don't think they would do. Callie and Marie could work like DQXQ, I think it would be best if the band members were all in a single card, Octarians could exist solely for skilling up other cards or they could go down the route where weapon cards are used for skillups. I don't think themed Tamadras would even be necessary thanks to the number of characters that can be used.

Since Raphael's active got changed we can assume that Luci will get a similar treatment.
Changing the fix damage would either make him too OP or too weak and is a temporary solution, and Gravity would be a lackluster. The only possible change without completely reworking his skill is to make the orb change better. Either make it a 2-color board changer (Heal/Dark) or 10 random heal and 10 dark orbs. He will probably also get a turn haste or two.
As for the awakenings, he will get either quadruple dongs, or 5 enhanced dark orbs.

I'm no expert, but Haku probably would be best to use as your leader for the time being, with Kebab, Persephone, Vampire and Berserk whom you'll switch to Sumire. That way you have all the colours needed to activate Haku's skill. Vampire is good since he's fairly easy to skill up and gets you a heartbreaker that you can use in a pinch, like when you're orbtrolled in the first round and need to kill something quickly for example. Switch out Kebab for Echidna if you feel that you need more turns to kill a boss.

Good luck. I'm sure you'll get better subs and/or leader at PCGF, but having Haku and Yomi is pretty nice for you, you can make an Awoken Yomi team with Haku and two Z8s (Whom is farmable). Normally you have two Hakus and two Z8s but you can probably use something like evolved vampire or Izunami instead.
But that's for the future, but it's a potentially good team to use if you do not get anything else.

TB's main problem is that it gets grindy as shit once you reach the endgame. Leveling a unit to level 80 in all 3 jobs and farming the materials to recode takes way too long (And then you have to level the Z version from scratch which also takes forever). And the endgame bosses take way too long to kill.

The difference is it takes forever to do anything with Lucifer, and he is beyond useless as a sub. SS makes up for it with the scout system. The 5% chance for a 5* is bad from the cash shop, but they do turn up often in the scouter. Provided you are an active player that grinds his dailies you can at least make a decent diamond (or possibly champion) league team without spending money.
Like any game the legends are what set apart the upper 1% when used right. You get one free legendary at 30 which gets most players going. I have pulled 2 more as a free player so it's not that bad.
There are also normal 5* that are better than their equivalent legend.
Sharr shits all over William and even Leventor as a striker. Same goes for Ravian.
Nera, Renee, and Silla are situtationally better than Baltheon as assist types.
Hildegard matches up to the legendary attackers as well (they had to nerf her to make her her less legendary, even though she is just a scoutable 5*).
tl;dr
SS is a very generous game for free or mild spenders and you can go much further than you can in most of the games of it's types. If you want nightmare mode try RoB.

Those are not hard though, they are just a massive resource sink to build a throw-away team for a one-time use in a cost restricted dungeon. Most people beat those with chibi chinese, leekshit or lucishit(snow globe versions) and they don't use skill to do it. You also have to harass friends to put a shit cheese leader on so you can run the cost reduced dungeon.
Challenge descended was up again just the other day. You can clear it with a 2013 team with ease and it drops your mats both Ahaku and Yomi. Save spending 5million XP developing a shit 20 cost team and just run this.
"Challenge Descended" was an unofficial apology from the developers.They all but admitted it was a bad idea to put important evo materials in cost restricted dungeons that no one enjoyed. This makes up for it.

It's still bad because it's competitive. Without spending literal thousands or getting lucky you'll basically have a verdandi team compared to someones Awoken Ra team. Yeah the verdandi team can clear most things but only the normal strikers are better than the legendary and even then not if you have the legendary passers. Legendaries are the only way you get to the end game and without them you hit a wall a massive one.
