You also get a bit more respect since as a Mage you know more about the Fade than the normal shitstain. But don't get me wrong, as a Rogue you'll get through literally everything, it'll get to the point where you don't even need to fight or you will barely get hit by anything, the combat as a Rogue is dynamic af. But playing as a Mage is fun as you'll have to be extremely tactical and planting runes and setting off shit.

The huge areas were practically a 9/10 in design, I can barely find any flaws in that category. Different sceneries, pathways, alternate pathways, caves, different terrain etc all those were filled in and put together properly. As you know all sidequests are OPTIONAL and them being "uninteresting" is a matter of opinion. The fact about them is that they at correlated with the issues of Thedas and you got more lore out of some and more resources out of others based on your influence and decision making.

The whole point of the rpg is to grind and progress as both a player and character. It's experience in that terms. You don't become a great adventurer if you don't work at it. That being said it is true that the main story was short, but that doesn't mean there wasn't tons of lore and items you could have been finding. So as an rpg, it did it's job correctly.

It was different from Witcher 3, you weren't, Geralt and while it's nearly impossible to give you the freedom to type whatever you want and have emotions and reactions tied to them in a game, they gave you quite a bit of leeway to either be tied to your race, role, both or none.
All I see here are reasons why it did get GOTY. Even the battle system was okay except for the 8 abilities at a time and some roles sucked.

My only gripes with the game are the retarded companion AI (how hard was it to copy the same tactics options from Origins? I make sure to keep both long range taunt and short range taunt on her at all times. I also hated how they couldn't stand next to you. If you walked towards them they walked another way, didn't understand that.

It's fucking stupid because they always have to either defend or follow another character and you're expected to micro that every battle. I don't want my tank to disengage the hurlock alpha when Varric is shooting at it from the other side of the room but it happens and positions get screwed. Because of this good positioning is hard to achieve because the AI moves around for stupid reasons and ignores enemies. This forces ranged characters to play as their tanks for most of the time.

Yup. Aggro always goes to the longest range characters. It's always Cassandra with a full HP bar, full Grey shield bar, and full spirit shield bar. And then the entire team is using up potions and dying.
Not to mention even if you micromanage with the tactical feature, the characters stop following the instruction after a while unless it's turning an infinite wheel.

I was so disappointed when I saw the tactics screen. They just got it so right with Origins. I loved tweaking all the skills and situations that need to happen for them to be used.You still had to take control of your characters to fine tune things but I could rely on each character to not sperg out in the 5 seconds I needed to switch to someone else. They somehow fucked up the tactical camera in this game, too.
I'm at least glad that everything else turned out very good.

I ran a Rift Mage, Cassandra, Bull and Dorian with my first playthrough and i never encountered this.
The first ones to go down are either Dorian and Bull, but i do agree with the retarded AI though. They literally cannot use some of the useful skills that require timing to activate, Cassandra charges at the first sight of enemy even if they're far away, and most of the time she doesn't even hit enemies.
I guess a workaround for this is to use a lot of AoE skills.

I want to point out that another reason why the main storyline is short is because you have 4 different races to play as, 5 classes and 8 different specializations. So ultimately they want you to be able to reply the game as much as possible and try out every single combination whether it refers to dialogue or gated content. Never forget there is gated content and certain scenes you unlock by various combinations of those AND companions. If this game was some 100 hour storyline then you wouldn't be playing it for every class. And you have to admit it's much more personal than most RPGs where you're just The Hero, and say absolutely nothing.

Thedas is pretty much a medieval setting, wouldn't homosexual acts be like super risky? Does Bioware address this in any of the games? Or is it just homo mafia sponsored gay propaganda all the way?
