I think the shift was caused by having mmo tier quests and being surrounded by nobles. You can hear grim stuff and racism from NPCs chatting, but it's not as abundant if you aren't surrounded by racist, violent peasants like the previous games.

Inquisition has its moments (everyone getting slaughtered at Haven, the pile of corpses under that one house, the mayor who flooded the town) but I doubt we'll ever see something like rape again because Bioware doesn't want to "trigger" it's audience.

I got distracted. Alright, I think I started posting things alluding to it, or maybe I just copypasta'd the shit into messenger to bring up later and forgot about it.

Yup. The old gods/Forgotten Ones are calling via the taint in the red lyrium. I disagree with her whole thing on them just being locked up in Cadalash. They locked themselves in willingly and we don't really know what happened other than they disappeared seemingly.
Another thing I have issue with is her relation of the old gods to the standard Elvhen gods that keep reoccurring, since the Forgotten Ones already have names of their own we just don't know what all of those names are yet. Anaris, Geldauran, and Daern'thal are what have been mentioned so far.

There's so much indicating that they themselves could have had magic long before though. With the ending of Descent and all of the statues predating paragons, and then there's the elven tale of the sun being taken away from them. It alludes to them being much more than just evolved rock people. The void is talked about like it's a place where nothing can survive and that makes me think about a lot of potential theories. One being that it could just be the very core of their planet where nothing but lyrium itself is able to thrive. Living things tend to adapt to their surroundings though, so the void could be thriving with a different kind of life now. It could also be the antithesis of creation itself, accessible by multiple places throughout the world, but fewer access points now that the veil has been put in place.
