Yes, it's fucked up. It's being bittersweet for its own sake without actually earning it, because almost nothing about most of the characters' actions make sense in regards to the Empress ending. It's a rare fuck up on their part to have such an unearned moment. A lot of the blame is because of Act 3's generally rushed nature and lack of polish compared to the rest, I imagine, but still.

Endings where good overcomes the great evil, and they live happily ever after are so damn boring and usually preditable. These often involve some form of deus ex machina too.
Not to say tragic endings are uncommon or anything. But those often leave stronger, lasting impression and therefore make it more memorable. At least that's how it works for me.

It does. The Wither books and games are tremendously anti-authoritarian, Ciri becoming the Empress of Nilfgaard and it being great because she has good intentions is like Lord of the Rings ending with Aragorn claiming the One Ring and ushering in a utopia.

And nevermind the books, Ciri becoming Empress goes against TW3's characterization of her. Last time you see her talk about it she's outraged and swearing she'll never go along, until the epilogue when suddenly she's decided to do it with no foreshadowing or justification. That's not even going into the other characters' actions or the weird ass political situation where Nilfgaardians back home have basically gotten to the point where they despise Emhyr so much they want to depose him, but are ok with his half Nordling, Nordling raised, doesn't even really speak the language, sorceress-witcher vagrant daughter being Empress. I mean you can make the argument that they just want her to be a puppet for Voorhis but the ending doesn't portray it that way nor does anyone that advocates it as a good ending seem to think this.Or Geralt and Yen trusting Philippa to be her advisor after what happened the last three times and not even saying a word.

There's so much wrong with it and I've made the argument so many times that I have trouble even putting together a point by point list of how badly written it is in a post anymore. Hard to remember what I've covered and what I haven't. But hey, it's bittersweet, so 10/10 I cry erry tiem

So I have 8 gigs of RAM and TW3 starts off taking up 3, then by the 3rd or 4th hour of playing it's taking up like 6.8 gigs and I have to restart it. Anyone else have a similar problem?

That's only the case for women and it starts more in the late 30's early 40's than in the early 30's. There's also likely other genetic factors involved in the likelihood of producing the meiotic nondisjunction issue that causes Down's Syndrome.
