I know of a way to cheese the ogre, but the ogre isn't that hard to deal with anyway. Just take as much aoe as possible, while still being good at getting specials (ex. wh with 2h, dorf 2h+rifle/drakefire, es 2h+rifle, bw sword+beam). Abandon the first well, during the survival waves climb up the ladder between the second well and the starting point so you can kill them while they climb. During the well defense aoe them to death.

Stop playing on normal where you can get away with not blocking or pushing a lot though, take her to hard or nightmare and make her learn that way. You learn pretty quick to defend yourself when a normal rat hit takes 4 blocks of health.

I feel like such a cunt sometimes just talking AT people. But it's invaluable. Being able to say to someone "watch the fuck out the is an assassin right behind you, you daft and blind cunt" or quickly tell them to hold the door, you'll watch their back etc etc is so useful. And it does make a difference, games where I'm talking always go better than games that don't. I just did it on nightmare after about 15 minutes of trying. In theory you always HS what you're aiming at. In practice your arrows tend to do a 360 and walk away instead of actually hitting what you want it to. Really awesome when you need to kill that special. God help you if there's a storm in the middle of a crowd that needs to die because you'll hit every single other rat first.

Every character has amazing ranged options. Ironically the elf is actually worse at sniping high value targets than the soldier or dorf.

Don't think that any class is specifically melee or ranged it's a big pitfall of new players. What separates good players from bad ones is knowing when to use what for each class.

I have played The White Rat at least seven times. Every single time I have played I get killed trying to solo a Rat Ogre and a horde of clan rats by myself.

Why you ask? Because my teammates always jump on to the platforms in the middle because their tiny fucking brains can not comprehend the idea of the Rat Ogre having knock-back.

Three members of the team hanging from a ledge while I have to fight every single enemy myself. This happens every single time. It doesn't matter what difficulty I'm playing on.

The main reason is she inexplicably attracts shitters. I'm not meming here, honestly if there's a player bringing down the team it's usually the elf. I've had really good elf players too but generally that's much rarer than even getting a good pub in the first place.

I honestly feel her design is flawed though. Ranged is generally meant for sniping specials for the sake of ammo conservation. Melee is for common rats. Soldier and Dorf have handguns that are better at sniping specials and melee that's better for hordes. WH does his own thing and BW doesn't have ammo to worry about so she can break the rules and use ranged on anything she wants.

Elf is in a weird spot where her ranged is worse at sniping than 2 other classes who also have a better assortment of melee options. In exchange for this her sniping option is more able to kill common rats which you really don't want to be doing.

Tl;dr Elf's ranged is too general purpose where you want to only use it for 1 thing, her melee is lacking too. Anything she can do other classes can do better. Theoretically anyone who plays elf well should be able to play even better as another class.

Is the Sword & Dagger better than Dual Swords? I've got both exotics, but I've been using Dual Swords because people used to say it's the best weapon for elf. I love the weapon but never even went to try the Sword & Dagger.

This is the reason most people are shit with elves on the harder difficulties.
On normal the skill floor is rock bottom as you will always land the first strike on a rat and you can attack as fast as you can click and it's OHK on most rats. You can very easily just set up a lmb macro to maximum clicks and just walk around the level.

On NM and above you've got to make full use of blocking, dodges, different combos and area permitting circle strafing. Reason being you have to be very aggressive, you can't just sit and block+push+heavy you need to me moving forwards or backwards and attacking your way through the horde. Elf works superbly with a blocking/CC character. Attack forward through the guard, at the end of the combo dodge back and let the rats crash into the sheild wall. Time your push with your sheild man, rinse and repeat.

Another thing about elf play is 'hurr durr ranged is only 4 specials' is true on all of the other classes. But for the elf it's your main AOE as well as single target. This is the reason trueflight is garbage, the hagbane is garbage and the swiftt bow is garbage. It's all about that penetration.
Each arrow will down 3-4 rats, times that by 60 and you've got potentially 240 kills in a single quiver. In terms of ammo efficiency that's certainly in the top end. Now you've also got 60 arrows (If you've got a good enchant) which is leagues more than anyone else, so for every ammo pick up you're getting more kills/pickup even if you're only hitting single targets. Finally, rate of fire, you can apply constant damage to a horde for extended periods at high speed. The BW can out damage you in the short term, but unless they're planning on allhu ackbar overcharging, in an extended fight, the damage will swing towards the elf every time.

in other words most elves need to git fucking gud. And memesters need to chill the fuck out and accept that they probably don't know how to play the class they hate and don't play.
