There is no need to get angry, it's pretty clear that the ending didn't really resolve everything. Symonne is still around and angry, and in their own words she would easily have crushed them if it wasn't for Heldalf's domain holding her back. Then you have the potentially related elements of Lunarre being back and wanting revenge and whatever that was that left Heldalf and passed over Sorey at the very end.

There is quite a bit we won't ever get an answer to now, both the Rose and Mikleo segments don't really explain anything and both could easily be taken out of context with how little information was given.

Symphonia takes place about 4000 years before Phantasia IIRC.

The elves came to the planet (Aselia) and from Derris-Kharlan and planted the original Kharlan Tree there to give mana to the world and bring forth life. With the tree came the spirit Ratatosk to regulate the world's mana, and in turn other spirits came to dwell on the planet. The elves took a cutting from the tree and planted a second one on Derris-Kharlan. Its spirit is Norn.

Over time two countries rose up, Sylvarant and Tethe'alla, and went to war with each other. Mithos and Martel Yggdrasil, and two soldiers from opposite sides of the war, Kratos and Yuan, realize that the war would threaten the Kharlan Tree and in turn rob the world of the mana it needed to live. They made pacts with various spirits, including Ratatosk, and more or less stopped the war, but the tree was destroyed anyway and Martel died. The tree left behind a seed, but rather than let it germinate, Mithos used it to try to keep Martel's soul alive and became corrupted.

Four thousand years later, Lloyd and Collette get the seed to germinate, and a new tree called Yggdrasil was created with a new spirit named Martel watching over it. However, because of the death of the previous tree, Ratatosk had gone dormant and the mana regulation was left unchecked. After being reawakened, Ratatosk had to create a new seal to protect the world, and in order to do so began a slow process of draining mana from the planet to build said seal. In order to not risk the death of the planet again, the natural laws were rewritten so that only magical beings would require mana to live.

Which brings us to Phantasia, where another war had drained the planet's mana to the point that magic was no longer usable, Yggdrasil was no longer producing mana and Martel was almost dead.

(and that's not getting into the remaining society on Derris-Kharlan, which grew into three nations that also went to war and killed Norn's tree)

Berseria is guaranteed to be a mess too. Ignoring the obvious technical issues of staying on Xillia's engine, targeting the PS3, there's essentially a 2 year window on the release of the game. Development on the 25th anniversary title is going to have to start soon, and it'll probably have to be on ps4 which just leads to a whole host of new scheduling issues. This basically caps development time spent on Berseria which means the same shit from the Xillias and Zestiria is going to happen again.

I'm pretty new to the Tales series but their DLC is abhorrent. I'd rather get more stuff like the Alisha DLC episode not necessarily starring her than the abomination that is the 20 dollar easy mode DLC.

Costumes are okay, I guess. Wish there were more unlockable in game, though.

Yeah it's been a bit sad to see how many costumes they put into the game as paid DLC rather than unlockables. It would be nice to have a lot more lore friendly outfits too instead of just wacky stuff. If you listen to the Bamco's logic about sales it's actually amazing how out of touch they are. Xillia sold so well based off of hype of being the first mainline ps3 game, when it ended up rushed and incomplete people were disappointed and turned off of the series. The fact they actually expected Xillia 2 to sell as well as the first after all that is mindboggling.

Then they fucked up Zestiria and ended up with a PR nightmare that ruined any chance of the game matching whatever optimistic expectations they had.

It's kinda hard to say what was going to happen since we won't get to see the other DLCs and the story won't be continued. It looked like they had something big setup for her to go through but we will never know.

The weird thing is that she doesn't get a timeskip scene at the end of the game nor does the written account mention what happened to her in any detail. Maybe we would have gotten that at the end of all the DLCs.
