I absolutely love the ps2 castlevania games, they also have an insanely good soundtrack.
Lamment of innocence is decent and gets you pumped since it's the first belmont and dracula origins kind of thing.
Curse of darkness is an inmense step up and it's basically pokemon meets castlevania meets god of war.
Granted, lament of innocence came before god and while the games are good mechnically, visually and musically, it's not REALLY good which is basically the standard for most castlevania games.
Expect decently good games, but don't expect to be blown away by them.

Proceed to Walter getting fucked by Leon, Mathias comes in and reveals everything, offers Leon to join him since he's his friend and also lost his wife, Leon declines, fucks up Death and vows that the Belmont family will forever hunt Mathias and all creatures of the night.

HoD has always been a mixed bag. People complained that CotM was too dark since the first GBA models didn't have backlight, and Konami made everything brighter in the sequel resulting in the vomit that is the HoD palettes.
