Lots of people in 2006 played the game with Oldblivion. It's mostly just some downgraded shaders and shadows. You'll be fine, it's worth it.

If you play Morrowind you'll probably want to uninstall it in the first 30 minutes unless you're more patient than the average Nintenbro.

just make sure to discern the elder scrolls III: morrowind from the elder scrolls online: morrowind, they're totally different games, the latter only released a few months ago and the former is older than Oblivion and Skyrim.
you can look up the oldblivion mod for Oblivion or just play morrowind, although you should know morrowind is old as hell and slow as shit as well.
