Not him but I gave the first season a go and I couldn't comprehend why everyone loved it.

The impression I got was literally just babby's first plot/lore-oriented series, and the show had no particular strengths to keep me interested. It wasn't bad but I don't get why people thought it was so worth the praise.

The worst part about it was its inability to keep conflict believable, which is fatal in a series that focuses on a war between two planets. Every time someone's about to face or is facing danger, it gets resolved through absurdly simple solutions every time thus negating any meaning behind the tension that was there. Sacrifices were never made, and if it looked like there was gonna be any, it always ended up being of complete benefit. I see people complaining about the show just solving every problem it has lickety-split in later seasons but here I'm just wondering how it took people several seasons to notice what was always there.
