I'm glad to see combat develop with stuff like baton pass and proper SMT negotiation, but I feel like the VN half of the game just fails to evolve even though it totally could. I like how social links are interwoven into the gameplay now but beyond that, I agree with you

they need to make it clear how the social link stuff works, maybe a counter like "x/20 points needed for rank up" or something like that. there's literally no reason to hide that info from the players. the way you get points during slink events are lame too, they're essentially the same as the questions you get during school periods or exams.

actually making the calendar functional for planning would be nice as well. as it is, you don't have any clue as to when certain confidants are available on what day unless you look up guides on the internet, and even then some of them tend to just disappear for no reason.

in terms of combat, they pretty much nailed it except for still using the gay ass buff/debuff system from the last two games instead of adopting mainline's. fusing personas are also a hassle when they've pretty much perfected in SMT IV, kind of dumb not to use that in this game.

I fucking loved Ryuji's dub. I got done with my NG+ with English audio a few days back and I really enjoyed how much passion he put into his role. Some people call it over acting, but with a character like him it makes sense that he's always loud and exaggerates his emotions everything he says.

didn't advance the basic non-dungeon gameplay from P4 whatsoever, and the battle system is the same shit I've played through 10 times in different SMTs

the story was weak as shit (though the team characters were decent) and it ended up following the same fucking path as every other SMT. there was no emotional core to the story like P4 had with Nanako and Dojima. the villains were utterly shit and totally sign-posted, and the false-redemption was laughable.

it was poorly paced and way too long, and ultimately felt like a huge waste of my time.
