The arc might not be only about them but they are a major part of it. Their last scene fighting together was even being paralleled with Eren and Mikasa's. Compared to Jean, Sasha and Connie their scenes are more important hence why they got big images on the Season 2 poster.
Even after they part, their relationship is still a pretty big deal for Historia in the Uprising arc.

What will season 2 be covering though? I thought Ch 33-70?

I think it has to do with The Beast becasue his features resemble closer to an animal than any other titan. He has Pointy ears, sharp teeth, a lot of hair, and black nails. Then there's him having a connection to other titans like Eren's coordinate. Or maybe its just a refrence of Kruger saying Ymir Fritz was a person that came into contact with a source of all materials.

MT seems like a promotion kinda thing. Makes since with Colt being the Eldest in the group of kids. Magath is the commander and it seems that he gets to decide in the end who gets what. Gabi even mentioned that Magath was making the final test to see who will inherit the Armored specifically.

I kinda think that Magath will choose successors for all titans at the same time but only mentioned MT and AT because those were their top tier and important ones.

I think it has to do more with Isayama's art being inconsistent. The first time we see her mindless form its very skin and bones with really sharp teeth then at ch 89 it's more muscular, similar to the way it looks after she it's a shifter. The only difference is the teeth aren't as sharp and can't really tell if she has claws. Then there's the new OP where they show Ymir and at the background we have a titan eating Marcel with flat teeth instead of sharp.

Its possible that while Isayama was making Ymir's mindless design it wasn't finalized like when he said the Beast titan wasn't finalized as well and he could be using the anime to fix things.

There's also the fact that the only thing Eren's mindless titan changed was his body structure. He just got taller but the face stayed similar.

I wouldn't be too surprise if the specialty for Marcel's titan was to look similar to The Devil titan and gaining a upperbody strength with sharp teeth and nails.

That doesn't sound like something special. Also it looks she still has claws and also black eyes in chapter 89. I think some shifters change in appearance a little, regardless of who they ate. For example after eating Uri Frieda's hair grew and she got boobs.

Just because Galliard is experienced doesn't mean he's nearing the 13 year mark. He could have, say, 6 or 7 years' experience, and be a capable fighter, without them needing to start thinking about his replacement yet.

Zeke and Reiner, by contrast, will be nearing the 13 year mark relatively soonish. That's why they're looking for their replacements.

The 4 year war Marley have been in had already started before the battle of shiganshina probably around when trost happen because that's when the warriors started attacking again.

It's the "anime original" ending we were told about anon. Episode 12 will be the end of the Abduction mini-arc, where in the manga, Ymir left with BR. She'll stay with the SL, and the anime will officially split continuity from the book- just like Isayama's favorite series, Game of Thrones.

Calling it now, screencap for posterity: Ymir will stay with the SL at the end of the current season. It is 12 episodes only because it will be the "True Ending" path of the SnK series, and more time is needed to actually write its content, while the manga will proceed to the "Bad End" that Isayama initially wanted and decided he would do again after all, in which he "betrays [his] readers".

It will allow him to essentially "do-over" his failing series from right before the point where it started to tank- the long, boring-ass political arc.

Because new Shifter can remember the memory of previous Shifter he/she eat, I think the reason Ymir is eaten because she thought her memory would influence new Shifter to protect Historia (in case Marley send in invasion very soon against Elodian)

And because Royal is special (honestly, we don't exactly know what kind of new abilities they can get by eating Titan, like I think Zeke is somehow able to use a limited amount of "coordinate" because he is royal?) and because Historia seems to be able to access his father's memory when he is in Titan form (which I'll put as her "special royal power"), I think Historia will eat Galiard, become winged Titan, gain ability to access memory deeper than normal Shifter (so memory from several previous shifter) and meet Ymir in her memory (and maybe even talk to Ymir in dreamlike world)

I am sure I am not remotely correct, but at least this is how I remedy myself after knowing that Ymir and Historia will never meet again (along with reading a more happy news, like RosAli win and Korassami kiss leak)
