Much to 'Asami's' dismay.
Give me one good reason why I shouldn't think Asami built the giant Korra statue?
>>1992206
Because Korrasami was pandering rushed fan service that didn't make any sense and they're just gal pals and Asami is abusive to Korra didn't you see how she raised her voice to her that one time?
Sorry, the only reasons to NOT think Asami was behind Avatar Korra park is if you're a Makorrafag, and that's pretty much their response to anything Korrasami.
>>1992206
There aren't any. Unless you want to get technical and point out that she probably didn't build the statue with her own hands.
Probably. I mean, she did have three years...
>>1992214

Korra is VERY atypical in East Asian culture. A forceful, cocky, superpowered young woman that demanded, often with the implied threat of force, that her way was the right way.
(Yeah, I know that this isn't a generous appraisal of book one Korra, but Koreans gonna Korea.)
Meanwhile, as a Euro, I fell for her from ep one.

>Who do you think are more butthurt: /co/ or tumblr makorrafags?
It's almost too close to call. On one hand /co/ is butthurt over almost everything LoK, while Makorrafags just pretend to be butthurt over everything LoK, but really they're just butthurt over Korrasami. Ultimately I think Makorrafags end up with the saltiest tears though, because as clumsily as it was handled, they were pretty much the ones Bryke called out in their confirmation posts. Also /co/ being butthurt kinda seems to be their default attitude?
>>1992242
I'mWorstKorean and I can confirm that S1/2 Korra really turned me off.
>>1992245
I wonder how she'd take the prospect of Lin breaking decorum and fucking a subordinate as the chief of police?
>>1992290
Considering the fucking was a drunken act of misery, she'd find it hilarious.
>>1992291
What if Toph gets new grandchildren?
>>1992292
She'd probably still find it funny. "I'm surprised everything still works down there. Anyways hope you don't screw up your kids like you screwed up being Chief."
>>1992296
Would Lin spitefuck said certain subordinate even more to get back at her mum? That sounds more up Su's alley gathering from what I've read here.

>Considering the fucking was a drunken act of misery, she'd find it hilarious.
Sis, have mercy.
>>1992287
>Also /co/ being butthurt kinda seems to be their default attitude?
Yeah. Hard to say they are just assblasted over the Korrasami ending when they are assblasted 24/7 over everything. Really, I'm not even mad at them for that. So it's the Makorrafags alright.
>>1992289Raava,I wish I had picked up AtLA and LoK earlier.
>>1992236
>Who do you think are more butthurt: /co/ or tumblr makorrafags?
/co/ hated the show and characters except for the males characters.
makorrafags hated Korra when she wasn't lusting after Mako's perfect lightning shooting condescending always correct intelligent orphan cock, and Asami
/co/ has more butthurt surface area and volume.
>>1992299
It wouldn't be a spitefuck, it'd be a sadfuck to cope with her mommy issues. But yeah, Su is the one to run around doing shit for spite. I mean, that's pretty much directly laid out in canon.
>>1992309
Well I'm the one who greentexted the drunken banging and freudian slips, so you know where I'm at on the whole deal.I don't even ship MakoLin, but I'll gladly throw out miserable/hilarious headcanons for the neechans who do.
>>1992335
>/co/ hated the show and characters except for the males characters.
I hate to use tumblrspeak, but there absolutely were soggy knees involved in the hatred of Korra. Aang made far worsr choices and fucked up far more often, and never received anything like the vitriol Korra did from /co/.
>makorrafags hated Korra when she wasn't lusting after Mako's perfect lightning shooting condescending always correct intelligent orphan cock
And those were precisely the times I was cringing. Remember that Bryke admitted that it was only in book three that they stopped trying to force characters to do things that just did not fit their characterisation at all. Korra's whole book one romance "arc" is forced beyond belief. I buy Masami a little more because she's smitten with the Fire Ferrets and Mako is smitten with her money. Even then, it's all shallow as fuck.
>and Asami
Combination of Bryke sidelining her and, again, soggy knees.

>>1992318
>Yeah. Hard to say they are just assblasted over the Korrasami ending when they are assblasted 24/7 over everything.
A lot of it comes from them becoming tumblr 2.0 and the posters unhappy with this going nuts and reflexively hating on anything tumblr likes, or is even perceived to like.

>>1994556Korra x Screen time.
She's like Zuko to me in a show where everyone else was mediocre or unfulfilled. I don't really care about Asami which is apparently okay since the writers didn't until the last five minutes. Korra's character study and potential is maximum and I wonder what it would be like if the show was framed more like Samurai Jack, Cowboy Bebop or tempered to be like Zuko Alone 24/7. Korra and Tenzin plus other people they encounter but don't have them jump on Naga/the boat/the airship and carry them everywhere.
>>1994648
I'm not sure if I see it. I mean Azula in a suit would be fantastic, but the lot of them just scream being rich kids.

>>1994665
>>1994676
>>1994676
Right side Azula totally looks like she still has firebending
>>1994679
That would be daddy dearest.
Azula is basically the equivalent of a Mob princess.
Only in on the whole whole thing.
>>1994665
Azula seems like she would be a great hotshot lawyer in the stereotypical amoral sociopath way. Ty Lee would be her paralegal who's a bit of an airhead, but Azula is banging her, so she gets away with it. Mai would be another lawyer at the firm who only hangs out with Azula and Ty Lee because she hates everyone else more and she's fucking Azula's brother, so it makes things easier.
>>1994680
And a bit less of an airhead, hopefully.
>>1994680
So right it'll be revealed when the obligatory family exploration chapter comes up and Ozai ends up in the hospital for something unrelated to the family business.
>>1994683
heart attack, from all the stress his family is causing.
>>1994681
When you put it that way, it makes sense.
I assume Ty Lee wants to make the relationship more than just fucking but Azula is resistant to the idea because she's Azula?
Also Zuko seems like he'd be sorta disowned and working for Iroh (who is semi-retired from the whole organized crime thing and running a tea shop that's a front for the family business) until he learns whatever lesson Ozai thinks he ought to learn.
>>1994682
Azula would still be Azula. Not airheadedness at all.
>>1994683
Probably. Azula may have to face the possibility of having to drop her legal career that is mostly based on getting people in her father's employ off as lightly as possible so she can take over the family because Zuko is still disgraced.
>>1994686
It would probably lead to her realizing she likes being semi-distanced from the business and would prefer to be the Oyabun's advisor or equivalent instead of being the actual Oyabun.
You know, if she had to take over for a bit.
>>1994687
I imagine that Ty Lee and certain duties and matters of respect would play into her decision. Expectations of producing an heir, and the general uphill battle she'd have being Oyabun as a woman.
>>1994556everyone
>>1994689
I feel like I have to read up on Yakuza culture to comment on this.
>>1994698
I'm just going what sounds right for a plot, I don't really know shit about the Yakuza. Though honestly we don't even need it to be specifically yakuza. Any nonspecific organized crime family sort of deal would work.
>>1994700
The heir thing I can see, but her position and the course she apparently took in life probably would've rendered that expectation as moot. The only real uphill thing I think she'd have is if she actually wanted to permanently be Oyabun and not just temporary one in Ozai's stead with the help of his higher ups while he recovers.
anyone have a pic by khyu like this, its similar but somewhat different.
colored version of this?
>>1994706
It's one thing to be daddy's favorite and being the team super lawyer, it's another to actually run the show permanently.
>>1994708
>>1994708
>colored version of this?
The eyes are different though.
>>1994706
If "bending" is still a thing and Ozai lost his, then she could use the fact that she still has her bending as reason for her permanent position. She's an heir to the throne and has her bending.
>>1994718
I dunno. Zuko is fairly capable, but Azula not taking on the position permanently feels like it would make for a better story.
Also bending should very much be a thing. With Azula threatening her clients/lackies with it so they don't' fuck up and get arrested again.
>>1994720
>Azula not taking on the position permanently feels like it would make for a better story.
Exactly, plus she could be the cool oba-san to her little brother since Ozai would probably have another child if he goes through trophy wives.I also just happen to like the idea of her being the shadow boss while Zuko's the face.
Yeah I suppose I could see bending being used for that, but I feel it wouldn't be handled properly in such a fic so I'd rather not have it at all over having it and the potential of it being front and center instead of rarely used.
>>1994722
Benders would likely keep their ability hidden for the most part, as it has obvious concerns for basically any authority, plus having the ability tends to link one to unsavory types.
Also it would be vastly more useful in a modern setting if it took place in a country with basically no guns, even in the hands of criminals.
>>1994720
>Also bending should very much be a thing
Oh, I dunno about that. Having overwhelming physical and magic power removes some of the tension, no? Who would be worried if Azula was arrested when she can just fight her way out?
>>1994726
Because having that power does not mean one should necessarily use it.
>>1994729
Just make them rewatch all the scenes about Azula infiltrating Ba Sing Se until they get the point.
>>1994730
They'd just learn that there was no war in Ba Sing Se. Wouldn't really help.
>>1994731
I'm conflicted between wanting to punch you or brofist you for saying that.
The real question that needs to be asked regarding this hypothetical organized crime with lawyer Azula fic ishow useless is Ursa?
>>1994737
She's good for inspiring Azula to drunkenly seek out Ty Lee for more loving than sober Azula sex that just sorta ends with cuddling and watching late night television.
>>1994737
Depends on the writer's mother complex. Will she be a lazy drunk who spends her days sipping wine while on anxiety drugs? Or will she be a strong willed mom who fights for her family in various traditionally feminine ways?
>>1994737
If we can use her character from "Zuko Alone" then we have someone useful for both Azula and Zuko. Any other Ursa after that and we lose substance.
>>1994726
>Having overwhelming physical and magic power removes some of the tension, no?
If you aren't a good writer, yeah. A writer can always just have the character lose despite having overwhelming physical and magic power if they make them an idiot or because the writer said so like some Game Master on a power trip.
>>1993872
I like the advertisment version more
>>1994718
>Yeah, though if anyone would be capable in his family line it'd be Azula. Zuzu probably couldn't handle the messier stuff.
In the Yakuza it's hardly about being 'capable'. That Zuko is male alone would give him the big edge.

While to me, LoK exceeded in great female characters, and barring Tenzin and Zaheer, really fell short on the male side.
We have Mako, the scourge of season one. Everybody's favourite, Bolin. Fucking Meelo. Amon, who ended up being a really weak villain. Unalaq, who was always a weak villain. Varrick was fun but seriously overused. Ghazan was fine but nothing exceptional beyond a neat character design and amazing powers. Bataar Jr. and Wu are written to be dislikeable.
Not that all of the female characters were perfect. Hate for Jinora is often justified, and Su is divisive.

http://turtleduckdate.tumblr.com/post/140694049399/avatarkorrapark-when-extremes-meet-yall-know
It appears Brittney Williams is off the Korra comics. No confirmation, but she has removed the LoK comics credit from her portfolios. I don' know what this means for the comics, but there are suggestions that she would be too ill to meet her obligations to Dark Horse.
How do you feel about that, /u/? I know some of you weren't enamoured of her style.

Why is Korra so short?
>>2005340
While I did like that she kept Korra pretty cut, her facial expressions ran way too young for me. Better suited for Book 1 Korra than Book 4 Korra. So I'm not horribly put off by her dropping out. Of course depending on who gets hired I might eat those words. Mostly I'm worried that this might set the release date back.
>>2005437
Bryke probably wanted that whole Toph was tiny and kicked the most butt so we'll make this girl smaller compared to everyone else in her life. Also the poison probably killed her cartilage.
Come to think of it, how did they get the poison out? Metalbending does not bend metal but rather the impurities of earth in the metal. The metal bends because of the impurities trapped in the surrounding metal.
However, if the impurities were not trapped by a solid layer, they would be bent out of the liquid therefore leaving the poison still inside.
>>2005437
She's not short, just everyone she knows is tall. I think her canon height is 5'8" or 5'10" or something like that, pretty tall for a woman. Fan artists just like to exaggerate the height difference, so instead of being 6', Asami is 6'2"+.
>>2005493
Well what is "earth" to begin with in this context? How do you define the "earth" that earthbenders are able to bend? In the end it's all made up of minerals that are made up of a handful of elements.
Maybe metalbending is just the skill to manipulate an extended range of harder base elements (iron, aluminum, copper, etc.) compared to the brittler, more malleable elements of basic earthbending (silicon, calcium, carbon, etc.)
Many earthbenders have probably had the capacity of bending less malleable elements before, just that Toph as a blind earthbender was the first to really try and focus on the composition of the thing she was bending instead of just settling for flinging rocks around.
Maybe a powerful/fated enough earthbender might even be able to bend even the most non-reactive precious metals.
>>2005493
>>2005547
Oh and about the poison, maybe the fact that mercury is liquid in room temperature makes it particularly easy to bend despite being a fairly nonreactive metal. It's also a really distinct invader in a human body compared to like, the iron in blood, so it wouldn't be too hard to detect if you have any skill in metalbending I would think. Toph was able to sense the residue just by standing next to Korra.
>>2005488
I'm in the same boat. I'm not overly saddened by her (apparently) leaving, because she seemed to have two body types: male and female. All men are broad, DC-cartoons style behemoths, and all women are slender-waisted, wide-hipped and narrowed-shouldered. But looking at Team Avatar, even ignoring the height differences, Korra and Bolin are respectively thicker than Asami and Mako. Bolin is broader than Mako, but Mako's slim waist makes his frame seem larger. Asami is svelte, and Korra has dem delts.
I was worried that Brittney Williams' style would lose all that.
>Mostly I'm worried that this might set the release date back.
Same here. If it's true she was released from the comics as far back as December, we can only hope Dark Horse/Bryke have selected a replacement.

They've really improved their editing in a short amount of time. Most Abridged series/groups take a lot longer to get to that level.
>>2005824
Yeah. I think the only other group that managed it that quickly was TeamFourStar, but they were obviously held back by the fact that Dragonball Z was rather old.
Looking at Project Voicebend it's amazing how their edits could very well be part of the original. Be it the expressions or Unalaq bending that kid away to showcase how much of a dick he is.
>>2005547
>>2005549
I was going by the purity thing that they were espousing since season 1. Even Toph couldn't bend platinum. And yet they go and use this thing that looks and acts like mercury and have that be bendable despite mercury's composition.
We can't say that it's different than the iron in the body otherwise Toph would be able to sense Aang when he wasn't touching the ground in her debut episode. She only sensed him when he touched back down on the earth. Then just by telling Korra that it's in her Korra can all of a sudden sense it and mess with it.
The impurities in the metal were what was being bent. Not the metal. It wasn't a sludge like the slurry from the drill that both Toph and Katara could bend.
>>2005340
If the creators had to search so long for her like they said, then they would have to search again for just as long.
Her backgrounds and action scenes are dry and you've already talked about the lack of Korra looking like Korra so I'm not sad.
>>2005949
>If the creators had to search so long for her like they said, then they would have to search again for just as long.
Which means we have to maybe wait another year until we get the comics.
>>2005947
>Be it the expressions or Unalaq bending that kid away to showcase how much of a dick he is.
That part was very impressive. Unalaq in general looks great.. He was a weak villain in canon, but being so over the top evil makes for a great parody.
>>2005949
>>2005958
The first search took from Spring 2015 to October. This one will be December 2015 to who knows. I'd like some official confirmation that they're searching. She only sensed him when he touched back down on the earth. Then just by telling Korra that it's in her Korra can all of a sudden sense it and mess with it.
I'm not sure what you're trying to say with this, that's exactly what I said/meant. The mercury in Korra's body was so dramatically alien compared to what little pure metal there's usually in a human body so it was easy for Toph to notice with her seismic sense. Like a radar ping within the larger feedback of Korra's whole body or something. Korra was able to notice it by concenctrating on it because she was touching all of the mercury pretty intimately. The iron in blood on the other hand is a normal and subtle part of the body so Toph wouldn't notice it as a separate thing. And like I said, the fact that mercury is liquid could make it vastly easier to metalbend than other nonreactive elements.
The weirdness of the whole "impurities" thing is what I was talking about with the soft mineral/hard metal split. It doesn't make sense that being able to bend tiny little bits of impurities in a harder metal would make all of the metal just yield however the bender wants it to.
Also, continuing with the base element manipulation thought line, lavabending could be explained as the ability to completely rip apart some of the elemental bonds holding the elements together in a mineral, creating a massive amount of heat and melting the mineral itself.

Character wise, reconciling with Tenzin and his family. Waking up from her Alice in Wonderland dream and becoming herself in the Spirit World. The one on one fight with Vaatu, which was really great and under-appreciated. Telling the twins she was sorry she could save the insane father. Leaving the portals open because she, being the Avatar, thought it was best for humans to be able (if they wanted) to interact with spirits. Being the mature one and breaking up with Mako FOREVER (yay).

>Maybe it's because Higgins did such an amazing job giving life to Varrick, but the dub was horrible for him.
I didn't think it was horrible, just very underwhelming. Which was to be expected. The guy is trying to do a goofy, half buisnessman/half tycoon version of Varrick. But that already is Varrick, and it's how Higgins played him.
They may have been better off re-imagining Varrick. Perhaps playing him straight might have even worked.
>The main Krew dubs are even better than S1's jobs though; they must have gotten comfortable in their caricature roles.
Korra's VA sounds like a professional voice actress. And the girl doing Asami's parody voice seems to be making it her own, kind of like how some of the Team Four Star guys got comfortable with their roles and didn't feel the need to try to imitate the dub anymore.

Not officially out, but some people got it early. The last part of Smoke and Shadow neither relied on smoke nor shadow. The main culprit is exactly who you think it is and the narrative even flat out tells you.
The Avatar is just naturally physically strong, it's not a training thing.
Kiyi is proof the Avatar Eugenics Instrumentality Origin Unit is a viable option and it's a shame Korra's loins won't bequeath another experiment. Kiyi is Ursa's (Roku's descendant) new kid who melts metal with her sudden first time firebending just by watching Zuko do fire.

by clarias
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Avatar: Legend of Korra
Rating: General AudiencesWarnings: Major Character Death
Relationships: Korra/Asami Sato
Characters: Korra (Avatar), Asami Sato, Senna (Avatar), Tonraq (Avatar), Katara (Avatar)Additional Tags: Future Fic, and like a fair dose of angst, neither Korra nor Asami die tho, Don't worry
Summary:"I'm sorry I couldn't come sooner." Korra pulls back. "We should probably get home." Asami takes her hand and indicates for one of the porters to take her luggage while they walk towards the brightly lit waterside street. She can just see her breathing misting in the light of the arc lamps. Midday darkness always disturbed her but it seems appropriate for this visit. Twenty six years after the events of Book 4 the comet is back. Korra is 47; Asami is 48; Katara is a whopping 114.

Funnily enough it makes her 'workable' again in terms of writing fics with her. Way easier to 'redeem' her from "Make the Fire Nation great again through Zuko" than being completely crazy since we last saw her.
She also had some gold expressions. Gurihiru clearly have a blast drawing her.
>If Bryan at least draws the characters they can get someone else to do the backgrounds and coloring.
I'll doubt that Bryan will draw it. It'll be a saver bet to assume they just choose the next best artist that was on the list. Because I'm pretty sure Bryan is too busy drawing his own thing.

The way Azula is written in this one reminds me of Zoom with the way that her scheme is so stupidly elaborate.
At the very least this is way easier to spin into an eventual redemption story, seeing as she wants to be Zuzu's most trusted advisor. She just has to see that her way isn't completely right.

>>2011933
Because making Azula irredeemable makes Zuko's redemption look shaky.

I would have been just as happy with Borra in Air (not so much when he goes full retard in Spirits) in order to prevent Makorra happening. It took until late in Change for me to actively begin rooting for Korrasami for its own sake and not just to preclude Makorra reigniting. By Korra Alone, I realised I was a full on Korrasamifag.

>is it possible to come up with a Modern Day AU that isn't complete trash?
First priority: keep the things that are central to the characters:
Korra is a chosen one in a world she find may not need her.
Tenzin is her equally damaged mentor.
Lin has family issue the ass.
Asami is a daddy's little girl who has to take on huge responsibility.
Mako is a shallow, self-interested fuck who eventually becomes a less shallow, less self-interested fuck.
Bolin has way too much screentime.
Jinora is the super-duperest... for some reason.
Pema stays in the kitchen.
Suyin is questionably moral person, who is pleasantly divisive.
Opal is sweet but surprisingly forthright.
Varrick can transplanted into a modern setting almost seamlessly. So can Wu.
Second question is to decide whether bending exists or not. The vast majority of modern AUs excise it, despite how central it is to the universe the characters inhabit. If you're going to remove it, you're going to have to have a better reason than "it's easier that way".
Three; you don't have to be a slave to the canon events, but if you go against canon characterisation (eg. Korra and Mako are a perfect couple; Asami is a real villain; Suyin is part of the Red Lotus; Kuvira didn't really put foreign nationals into internment camps), you're going to need a stronger justification than you preferring it that way.
Four: make use of the modern setting; don't just retell the story in modern times

>I don't actually dislike modern AU fics as long as they don't depower the benders. At that point, you're really not even writing a TLOK fanfic.
It really betrays how many tumblrinas only cared about the shipping in LoK (and perhaps with even more vitriol in AtLA). I can't speak for everyone of us, but I do know quite a lot of us were anti-shippers at first; as in just didn't want awfully written romance detracting from the real story. I think Makorra was more damaging to book 1 than Studio Pierrot was to book 2.
>>2009754
There'd still be Korrasami shippers even if it hadn't been made canon, but having a f/f couple that's actually legit does feel good. I usually don't care for them myself (because I don't care about shipping in general), but I did really like KyoSaya from Madoka, even before it was given some legitimacy in the last movie.
But thinking on it, I probably still care so much simply because of sheer waifufaggotry for Korra.

Wasn't this established by Korra? It wasn't outright stated, but she's displayed feats of strength that even a superfit woman her age shouldn't be able to achieve. Pic related.
>Kiyi is proof the Avatar Eugenics Instrumentality Origin Unit is a viable option
>it's a shame Korra's loins won't bequeath another experiment.
We went from biplanes and tasers to vertical takeoff aircraft and laser weapons in four years. Even if she follows the path of the Lily, Grand Garden be praised, she'll probably end up with a babby at some point.
>Kiyi is Ursa's (Roku's descendant) new kid who melts metal with her sudden first time firebending just by watching Zuko do fire.
I haven't even read this and it feel awful. Azula was so strong because she had both Roku AND Sozin's genes in her. Plus, I don''t know how being the Avatar would make your descendants any stronger. All that crazy extra power comes from Raava. Is it like Wan's teapot? Does Avatar bloodlines have "a little bit of Raava's light" in them?
>She-who-you-can't-say-or-else-you-summon-him wants her brother to become like her while on the throne so at least she can get a feeling of being in charge again.
For fuck's sake. She can manipulate Zuko, but she realised by the end of AtLA that she couldn't change his character.
>Ozai loses his cool just like a hothead.Get this guy outta here!
>Mai's boyfriend had to leave, his planet needed him.
This also annoys me. It would have amused me to see Maiko fags btfo. But I'm mostly irritated that they decided to make another early teens romance/first crush into lifelong twu wub. Shouldn't have expected any different from Gene "the Lord is my Saviour" Yang.

Yep. Confirmed by Dark Horse's twitter. (Though I heard it was health and scheduling that caused Brittney Williams to drop out.)
>>2010687
>Wait Brittany Willaims is off of the Korra comics? Huh I hadn't seen that anywhere?
She never announced it. She just quietly took down the Korra comics from her online CV. Someone asked her about it at a panel a couple of months backs and she confirmed it. Because it was so low-key and the person that she told had all of two followers, it took a while for the news to spread. Bryke and Dark Horse were also trying to keep it under wraps. It wasn't until a panel on March 10th (where they said they'd be answering queries on twitter afterwards) that someone got a chance to ask them directly about the LoK comics. Yep. Bryan lucked out on Korrasami. Remember, he tacitly admitted that it only got in because Mike and the staff writers found there was chemistry between Korra and Asami during the writing of Book Three. Bryan wanted it for a combination of muh representation and because he thought it was hot.

I think that IF you replace bending with some other special power thing it could work.
For instance, a modern AU idea that's been kicking around my head for a while lacks bending but replaces it with cheesy action movie-grade martial arts; instead of being able to bend all four elements, korra is instead the last person who is trained in a bunch of crazy ninja super moves

>she'll probably end up with a babby at some point.
It won't be her own but adopted if anything. So it won't have Avatar genetics like Roku's eventual hellspawn - Zuko's sister, or Mako's 'he took down the entire gang of the Red Monsoons offscreenwithout any milkor Bolin's lovely lauded lavabending.
Unless the reason that person hasn't continued that spirit babies fic is because they received a cease and desist order from Dark Horse because Mike wants to execute that idea.

>but she realised by the end of AtLA that she couldn't change his character.
She saw that love is stronger than fear by seeing her crown fall, her father fall, her brother rise, and getting beat by a peasant. She's repeating the same beats from the finale.

>I, for one, welcome our new giant lesbian overlords.

>>2013995
This. Even if you take away the bending, you have to give them something comparable (and crazy martial arts is a good substitute).
And if you make them run of the mill people, it misses the point entirely. How Korra thinks people perceive her is important throughout the entire story. And remember, despite everything else happening, we're given a wakeup in the final confrontation when Kuvira points out that "the Avatar is adored by millions".
We see her in RC during an anti-bender revolution and later immediately after Satan fucked up the city with devil vines and the country's president is doing everything in his power to shift the responsibility to her. It's no surprise there was anti-Avatar sentiment. But that's all gone from RC by the timeskip. Same thing with the SWT, when the clowns around Korra (which sadly included Lin at the time) spun it so that the civil war was her fault. All the anti-Avatar shit is gone by the time she's giving her big speech at the end of Book Two.

>>2014027
>spun it so that the civil war was her fault.
Mike goes out of his way to say that they made it so she starts the war in the commentaries.
And that whole dropping plot lines is what irked me so much about the series. They elect Obama (Raiko) and suddenly racism (anti-bender hate) is gone? The South has done nothing to show that they are spiritually back in shape. Raiko's line about the Red Lotus still being out there. How that spirits are about and nothing is ever going to be the same and they are entering a new era doesn't mean anything since the vines were always there it's just that now people can experiment on them because the vines are now a problem that everyone has to deal with.
And then how Kuvira says the Avatar is adored by millions and yet she wanted to kill the Avatar?
>>2013927
The most difficult one to keep intact is Korra. Everyone can be transplanted easily into different settings accept her. Even Last Airbender characters with the one difficult being Toph since you'll need something to make it so she can be blind and kick ass all on her own, unless you make her Daredevil.
The series never satisfies the idea of Korra as the person and Korra as the Avatar with Korra as the character. The others can see her that way: Bolin with his love of her being strong, funny, and beautiful, Mako and his acceptance of her existence, and Asami and her desire just to see Korra smile and be safe even if Korra never notices Asami. But Korra never stood as her own person for herself.

They were never shown to be out of shape. It was all Unalaq's interpretation of a single festival; it was his justification for setting in motion helping Vaatu. His views of the South are likely irrelevant.
>The series never satisfies the idea of Korra as the person.
That could be true. I think they at least show her on her way to that, given her quiet growth. I was satisfied with her growth given what the series could accomplish in the few episodes they had. (Taken apart from wasted screen time on Bolin and Varrick.)
>>2014742

Pretty much. Remember that one guy wanting to take a photo of her in Korra Alone?
I think that is one of the more general opinions of Korra. Sure the scene was made out to be "hey are you really the avatar" but when the Airbabies arrive at his place he was all "she didn't look good, I hope she's alright."

>I think they at least show her on her way to that, given her quiet growth.
They had more than enough episodes to show loud growth as opposed to quiet. And I'm not talking that Godzilla thing they pulled that didn't make sense.
She's the main main character and she comes across as a plot device at times though nowhere as bad as Jinora.
>They were never shown to be out of shape.
Then why open the portals aside from having it so that seasons 3 and 4 take place because of that action and only because of that action?
As a stand alone we get from 1 that people should govern themselves hence the election.
3 says that people should be free so we get the removal of a monarchy.
4 has it so that they move from monarchy to anarchy to dictatorship to democracy. Wu is told he's the best fit for the job and he learns that, no, he is in fact not and he cancels the monarchy.
There was a problem in 1, 3, and 4 and it was "fixed." 2 stands out like a sore thumb.

Even before the finale she was unraveling at the Boiling Rock when Mai and Ty Lee betrayed her. Mai loved Zuko more than she feared Azula, so the comic rewinds things to have Azula need to learn this lesson again much like how Book 3-4 had Korra learn patience and spirituality again.

I guess I can see what you mean, but the image you posted just now is much more Azulay. Even in chains, Azula is able to lord over Ty lee and possibly make her her bitch. Like how some people run prisons even if they're inmates.
Oh that'd be an interesting fic idea. Azula running whatever prison she gets dumped in. Possibly recruiting other prisoners and/or guards into a harem, or just taking back Ty Lee from the Kyoshis.
>>2020014
>The contrast between Azula and Ty Lee would be very interesting then.
Great, now I want /fit/ Azula bullying Ty Lee.
>>2020125
Sexy bullying? Maybe giving her a little shit because she's basically a cardio bunny mixed with an fuckton of gymnastics and only really going for speed when Azula has just about the same speed, but a lot more strength?
>>2020131
But she really needs that endurance.
>>2020131
>Sexy bullying?
That's the only kind of bullying I'll allow.

>Oh that'd be an interesting fic idea. Azula running whatever prison she gets dumped in. Possibly recruiting other prisoners and/or guards into a harem, or just taking back Ty Lee from the Kyoshis.
How about Ty Lee visiting Azula in prison, expecting to find her drooling and spluttering, only to find she's assembled a new harem in-house, and her main "lieutenants" are suspiciously close to Mai and Ty Lee herself in appearance.
>>2020164
I'm just worried about Ty Lee's rump and those burnt chains.

Isn't that pretty much what she DID in the comics?
>>2020604
What did happen in the comics? I stopped following after the retarded Ursa story.
Also, page 10, time for dump. Gonna start with some random Tyzula
Not yuri, but kek-worthy.
Enough Tyzula, Finishing off with Korrasami.

Mai being the friend that gets sucked into Ty Lee and Azula's off and on relationship problems is always fucking hilarious, and any fic Tyzula fic that doesn't' have Mai in it is worse off for it.
And done.
>>2020896
I like the idea that Azula and /or Ty Lee think they're been really surreptitious and clever when they sneak away from or come up with excuses to leave Mai alone, while she stares at them with barely restrained disgust.
>>2020899
I prefer Mai being in the know, but being threatened by Azula to keep quiet and also to play lookout for when Azula and Ty Lee are too busy making out/fucking to keep watch for inconvenient servants or family members. Not to mention having just Ty Lee around would be more suspicious than having both her friends around as it makes it more plausible that they're doing girl stuff.
>>2020902
I could get behind some confrontation. Especially if Ty Lee feels guilty at the way Azula bullies Mai in being complicit.
>>2020907
Mai doesn't really give that much of a fuck. She would just prefer that Azula would get out of the fucking closet so she doesn't have to be in the room every time they fuck. I mean they are all friends still.
>>2020909
Probably has more to do with that one time Ty Lee insisted that she hold her hand while they did it... the things poor Mai has to deal with.
>>2020852
She had a weird moment of clarity that made her more sane, sprung out some buddies from the mental institute and played a little bit of ghost story by kidnapping kids with the help of the rebels to get to Zuko. Her end game? Making the Fire Nation GREAT again through him by becoming his weird devil on his shoulder advisor and making him a Fire Lord like she would have been.
So obviously a set up for an eventual redemption.
>>2021576
I can't decide if that's dumb or not, only that I should probably start reading that dumb shit again.

Oh, fuck me.
>Her end game? Making the Fire Nation GREAT again
In her defence, the Fire Nation doesn't win anymore. Look at their trade deals with the SWT and the EK. The Earth Kingdom is killing them in trade.
> by becoming his weird devil on his shoulder advisor and making him a Fire Lord like she would have been.
Is she still hung up on her mommy and daddy issues? Because Zuko seemed to have mostly overcome them. He really doesn't need a lunatic's input.
>So obviously a set up for an eventual redemption.
She (and Ty Lee) are going to show in the Korra comic aren't they? Maybe have Kya mention that Azula was a hero to her and have Korra and Asami be confused as hell.
Good a time as any for a
