Nope. Latest news here >>2005340 suggests that Britney Williams is off the project (she cites health and scheduling issues). Dark Horse Comics were asked, and confirmed that they comics are still scheduled for a Fall 2016 release. They've made no mention of a new artist (and didn't announce that Williams was off the comic until asked about it).

The free comic featuring the prequel babby Korra story is out at least in a limited capacity >>2019979

Really? Until season four, excepting the Unavaatu battle, Korra didn't lose a fight that didn't have extenuating circumstances.

Meanwhile, Asami was fooled by her father, beaten by her father, rescued by Bolin, NTRd by Korra, discarded by Mako, ran her company into the ground, lost her company's stock, got tricked by Varrick, lost her company wholesale, and discarded by Mako again.

The first half of the series is the world shitting on Asami. She got her act together in book three, but she was often completely out of her depth before that.

Good point. Because of the seasonal gap and tone of writing, it's easy to forget that this is only a couple of weeks at most since Asami got her company back after all the shit she went through in Book Two. She would certainly be in a place to empathise with Korra.

We know that Varrick's controlling interest reverted to Asami. (Who knows if this was ordered by a judge, Raiko, Lin?) Presumably, all her stolen stock as well (which was more than that warehouse; it was also earlier shipments Varrick had hijacked).

So Future Industries was probably back to about where it started when Asami took over. Except with Satan nearly destroying RC, people no linger saw FI as public enemy number one. That alternated between Raiko and Korra. It wouldn't surprise me if she made a killing on sales to replaced damaged vehicles.

There's also the possibility that Varrick pumped his own seemingly unlimited capital into FI during his period of ownership, and got the company back on track, and it was this reinvigorated Future Industries that reverted to Asami.

But even if Asami is still in a bad financial situation, she's well enough off to just give Korra an airship that would cost tens of millions of dollars. So either she recouped a lot of money somehow, regained public trust, or has stopped giving a shit, she's in a much better mood.

For all we know, Future Industries would have gone under again if she hadn't gotten the infrastructure project.

We can keep secrets from the ones we love the most. All her interactions with Mako have a love and bond, even the fights since she feels so torn up inside, behind them so that when she finally meets up with him it seems so shallow that she goes "I didn't know what to say." Mako was right that a literal "Hello" would have been nice.

Granted Korra even pushed Asami away by not telling her about her decision to run away from her problems, but things like not even meeting up with her parents in season 4 after she leaves is pathetic.

Mako comes across a lot better in this fic than he ever did in canon.

I say this as someone that's not overly fond of him. Anyone remember the slew of self-insert fics back during the AtLA days? 90% of the time, it was a girl self-inserting as a mary-sue version of themselves that almost always ended up with Zuko, eben though Jet and Sokka were likely attracted to her as well.

Bryke really must have like those self-insert fanfics. Book One of Korra feels like the self-insert fanfic version of another, better story (about learning airbending and the Equalists). It's just with a guy this time. He's cool, sexy, stoic, has all of Azula's powers but is better than her and uses them for good. And the two main girls both fall for him, and it tortures him to choose between them...

And Bryan even admits they drew from his college experiences. So I'm beginning to suspect Bryan only suggested Korrasami in Book One so that his self insert could have a threesome.

Speaking from experience, there's some leeway in the "no males in pics" rule, usually reserved for when they're screenshots from a yuri anime or when it's a guy in a pic reacting to yuri. On the other hand pics with het pairings tend to get deleted (probably because they get a lot more reports than the other kind).

That fic has a really interesting wrap-up of the LoK storyline too. With Korra unable to open the southern spirit portal for Unalaq and the domino effect from there one, we maintain the status quo of all the nations.

While I enjoy the fic, it makes Korra's influence feel much less significant on the world as a whole.

My best guess is that it would be a result of Korra wanting to make her relationship with Asami more sexual but being too afraid to approach her directly. She complains to Bolin about it, Varrick overhears and has Zhu Li do the thing, and Asami sits down at her desk one day to discover that a) she now has a new magazine subscription and b) Korra is on the cover and c) the real life Korra has been acting weird and flitting in and out of her office all day.

Ditto. I always thought the nice, clean art was one of the few highlights of the AtLA comics.

I used to be under the misapprehension that Gene Yang was drawing them, so while I considered him a shit writer, I always felt that at least his art skills made up for that in some way.

Then I found out that he wasn't even the artist. Yikes.

That's a shallow reason. They're not doing the writing (Yang) nor are they okaying the ideas put forth (Bryan and Mike).
Their work plays well with the art style of the Last Airbender. Even that Korra face in >>2036091 looks just as good if not better than what Williams was putting forth. So expressive without being excessive.
I would hope it's just misinformation or a lack of a fast enough internet connection that they were like >>2036113
and just thought that Yang was the artist too.
