Getting back to Carl Rodd's abduction, is it spoilers to talk about it? Seems clear what the third party witness to it saw.

Douglas Milford, killed via Kama Sutra vixen, saw Carl Rodd and Log Lady and some fool kid all aged 8, out in the sycamore grove. They'd been missing for a day or something, and a night. He was compelled to go there, and then saw a massive darkness blotting out the sky. A light emanated out of it, then the children were in the light. This was assumed to be a bigass UFO major abduction return. But it's the curtains blacking out the light, turning day into night in that area in a round shape. The light is the spotlight stuff, not some alien technology UFO shit. Just saying.

That's not even something exclusive to Lynch. He doesn't hide his influences. Everything is influenced by something and it's extremely common for filmmakers to have trademark things they continue using throughout their careers. Hell, Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive are almost the exact same movie and a lot of the stuff from those two movies are in Inland Empire too.

We know lodge inhabitant speak backward, perhaps establishing some circumstantial evidence for this theory. Basically, it's that each episode contains scenes from a future or past episode, depending on where in the season we are.

So ep 1 contains stuff from e18, specifically the scene with Coop and ???????. Working 'inward' from each end of the season (i.e. the first and last episodes), I think Hawk's scene in ep 2 (where he's in the woods) is actually from ep 17. From there, the pattern would go 3 - 16, 4 - 15, 5 - 14, 6 - 13, 7 - 12, 8 - 11, 9 - 10, 10 - 9, 11 - 8, 12 - 7, 13 - 6, 14 - 5, 15 - 4, 16 - 3, 17 - 2, and the last episode 18 contains something from episode 1, likely the scene with Coop and ???????, thus looping the whole thing back around. Watching the season in reverse order may make it easier to spot.

I speculate that it's certain lodge or lodge-related scenes that are used in this way.

The Wild At Heart talk in the last thread made me remember that I had downloaded the Lime Green Mystery Disc from some David Lynch boxset.

It's got 1:16 of deleted scenes from Wild At Heart, all of Rabbits except one of the soliloquies, and some short films from various places and times that Lynch made. Pic related. These are just the video files though and not just a straight dump of the disc.

I couldn't watch TP when it originally aired because it was so BORING. Every time I tuned in, it was people talking in a room. That's it. And if I stayed long enough to hear what they were saying, they would be talking about NOTHING. I figured out that I couldn't follow the plot, (or had to make one up) because there WAS NO PLOT. A man went to a town to investigate a murder. That's it. Nothing else ever happens. Just people talking in rooms. And all this taking NEVER advanced the murder investigation ONE BIT. I liked the part that I was in, (because I was in it), but it still didn't make a hoot of sense. Hard to watch.

I'm not going to argue whether what he did was right or wrong, but considering that Twin Peaks wasn't exactly a show you could just watch at home when you wanted back in the day, the prequel was definitely structured to where people who have never seen Twin Peaks before could watch it and enjoy it. He now has a unique experience of digesting it all. As far as I know, not many people have watched the prequel first.

If this were done well, depicting the gradual degradation of
Laura's life due to drug use, the pressures of adolescence, and living
with a nutty father, and showing the parallel development of the evil
forces which eventually kill her, TWIN PEAKS: FWTM could have been a good
movie. A lot of Stephen King's best stuff is like that. But there is
no character development. The scenes follow each other in no logical
order. Mix them up and you would have the same movie. Laura acts
pained. Her father, Leland, acts possessed. Laura gets over it and
seems okay but meek. Leland smiles and seems ashamed of his outburst.
Laura hangs out with the wrong crowd. Shea cries a lot, a weird kid
jumps around in a mask, there is a lot of meaningless, empty symbolism,
etc, etc, and when it becomes time for the movie to end Laura dies. And
about that title: "Fire Walk With Me." It comes from an utterance by
Laura in one of here pained periods. She says, slowly, as if each word
were loaded with significance, "Fire ... Walk ... With ... Me." It
means nothing. She could just as well have said "Elvis ... Ate ...
My ... Left ... Foot," and then the title would be "TWIN PEAKS: ELVIS
ATE MY LEFT FOOT."

Parts 8, 3 and 5 have been my favorites.

Part 6 could have been so much better, and I suspect it will be an episode that holds up much better on rewatch. Felt like it suffered the most from the script being written like an 18 hour movie. The pacing was bizarre and it barely held together, which is crazy given just how traditional it is in approach of building tension for the death of the kid.

A lot of great scenes ruined by bad pacing. Also the actual death of the kid was probably my least favorite part of that episode, and nothing has come of it, which makes it feel incredibly cheap. They used a child for the shock factor, but it really is completely inconsequential to the story, the only thing that will end up mattering is that law enforcement will be looking for Richard. Emotionally manipulative, maybe I'll be wrong and it will actually matter in the end but so far it's just an incredibly melodramatic scene played for shock value.

Laura left the black lodge too, so what has she been up to? Has she gone through something similar to Cooper? Is she out there somewhere braindead and slowly reshaping herself? We don't know, but she'll play a role for sure.

Laura went to the white lodge after she confronted her inner demons and embraced them instead of running from them (an act of love). That's what her transitioning into an angel was supposed to represent in FWWM. The Laura dressed in black who we saw this season is her doppelganger, which she left behind in the black lodge (both she and Coop are uncertain that she's really Laura Palmer). She's nothing but white light inside because she's a conflicting presence and isn't technically a real doppelganger, but a manufactured "dark side" created through BOB's corruption. She's then ejected out and upward like Laura but much more aggressively, possibly to rejoin with her. Laura becoming tainted by evil again while being inside the white lodge may cause some problems.

That's just a take on it anyway.
