What I would give to kidnap Nardole and make his life a living hell. I would force him to dress up in elf and leprechaun outfits and subject him to pure awfulness and humiliation. Just terrible degradation and shameful acts. It would be so easy to break his spirit and drive him to suicide, but I wouldn’t let him do it. If I could train a dog to rape on command, then I would totally do that as well, a really big dog like a mastiff. He would be so completely and utterly powerless to stop it, not to mention terrified. A big ass dog is even scary and life-threatening to a normal man, but to Nardole? Might as well be a dragon. I’d keep him in a cell and what’s more is that I would actually place a key inside with him but put it in a high place. Not extremely high but just ever so slight out of reach. It would drive him mad. I would dress him like a baby and feed him 99 cent store baby food. I’d also pick him like a child and toss him from one corner to the next. I’d grab him by one leg and swing him as hard and as fast as I could then hurl him to see how far he goes. I’d rent one of those giant inflatable bounce houses and body slam him all day until my arms got tired. I’d hold him down with one hand and slowly stick things up his butt just to see him squirm. I would stick him in dryers and turn them on and leave him in there for long periods of time. I’d force him to fight David Walliams to the death. Just so many things I would do.

FEMALE DOCTOR CONFIRMED
>>
>>81817933
>The discovery comes after a keen Doctor Who fan filed an official complaint to the Beeb with concerns switching the gender of the role would confuse his kids.

>And amazingly, a BBC worker wrote back and “assured” him it would be another man.

I want to be realistic here, this means precisely nothing. 13 won't be a woman but some random BBC complaints replier isn't going to know shit.
>>
>>81817933
Even if this is true, and Joanne Coyne really is a BBC complaints official, look at the wording:

>there are currently no plans to have a female Doctor Who.

If they haven't hired the next Doctor yet, this statement is true, no matter who they end up hiring.

>>
>>81818031
Also can I just say how fucking lame it is to send that in as a complaint when nothing has even happened? What's the point of the complaints service if people can write in about hypothetical episodes?
>>
>>81818032
Especially since later in the very same article:

>Tellingly, all a BBC spokeswoman said on the matter was: “No casting decisions have yet been made on Series 11.”

So, no casting decisions have been made…and therefore, there are currently no plans to have a female Doctor, nor are there currently any plans to have a male Doctor.

It won't be the Walking Bridge woman because she is too busy with her own creative things outside of just acting (she is a playwrite, theatre producer etc). You can't take on a huge demanding role like Doctor Who and expect to be able to do much else besides during filming months, it is one of the reasons why Eccleston got so fucked off with it. Also as a show runner you don't want your lead actor coming up with lines they think "work better" every 5 seconds.

I invented Doctor Who
>>
>I'm holding out hope that it'll be a woman. Us men have had the privilege of 13 Doctors to relate to, it's women's turn now.

>Although, a Doctor with gender dysphoria would certainly be interesting, Like, a male Doctor who feels uncomfortable in their body for one series (inlcuding fem/enby pronouns) but regenerates into a woman at the end. Most Doctors see regeneration as death, but in this case they would be happy. I think that'd inspire transpersons everywhere.
>>
>>81821788
Wow.

But now that we've seen Capaldi's art and hers, I demand to see Mackie and Lucas draw something. Even if it sucks, I'm OCD and need a complete set.
>>
Is it in the left overs that Eccleston gets on a pillory naked? Saw that episode a few months ago and want to see the rest now.

Complaints go to the BBC Trust, not random "BBC workers" and they certainly dont write you little reassuring notes back. That isnt how it works.

Actually, they no longer go to BBC Trust. From http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctrust/our_work/complaints_and_appeals/esc.html

>The BBC Trust has now closed and these pages are no longer being updated.
>More information on the BBC's new governance arrangements, as well as the process for making complaints to the BBC.

But if you follow the link and read the new process, or if you go directly to http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/ and read the stuff there…yeah, it's still what you say, not what this silly article claims.
>>
>>81822472
Fair enough. But this is because they've ramped it up post-Savile enquiry. It is really not the case that random "BBC workers" answer them with direct reassurances, they aren't even allowed near them.

>>
>>81822342
Reminder the BBC doesnt care about Dr Who fans who are (a) adults and (b) dont pay the license fee under their charter arrangements (overseas sales are explicitly not to supposed to be considered by producers).

Gallifrey Base's inmates are delusional in a way I find surprisingly offensive. This is actual cultural appropriation they are attempting and they can fuck off.

God Save The Queen.
>>
>>81822674
Actually, I think the change is because of the corporate reorg that began in 2015 and completed this month.

But either way, from everything I can tell, you're almost certainly 100% right that random BBC workers writing direct reassurances is still nothing remotely like what actually happens.
>>
>>81822805
>Reminder the BBC doesnt care about Dr Who fans who are (a) adults and (b) dont pay the license fee under their charter arrangements (overseas sales are explicitly not to supposed to be considered by producers).
BBC may not care, but BBC Studios certainly does. The whole point of spinning of BBC Studios as a separate, commercial corporation was to get out from under "oppressive regulation" so they can be "more efficient".
>>
>>81819567
He was in Broadchurch S2. and Breathless. He can do serious drama.
>>
>>81822823
Ite a consequence of the Charter renewal informed by Savile et al.
Complaints go to Ofcom now for oversight, they didnt trust the Chinese wall. Which is odd because Darlington is roughly the last place on Earth a Beeb luvvie would ever step but heyho.
>>
I get the feeling that the feminist fans are going to be a bit disapointed if it is really a female doctor next time.

The feminists will be expecting a frumpy, probably overweight but super smart and sassy doctor while the BBC will just want a doctor teenage boys can wank over.

I don't think it really matters that much what the BBC wants. Chibnall will find someone he's excited about, and then he'll convince the BBC to go along with it, no matter what their preconceptions were. (If he doesn't find someone he's excited about, it's going to be crap…)

Look at what happened with 11. The BBC wanted someone Tennant-like, but Moffat sold them first on the idea of an older Doctor, then on Paterson Joseph, then on Matt Smith.

He doesn't have a lazy eye, his entire skull is crooked. His one eye socket is slightly off so his one eyelid doesn't close all the time when he blinks unless he actually put effort into it. It's very easy to tell if an image of him has been mirrored because of this.

Yeah it's full audio. Some reconstructions also have linking narration by an actor from the story (e.g. Peter Purves for Season 3), or if not there'll be captions at the bottom when you can't tell what's happening in the picture.

Yeah, the Targets were great.

Even after I found fans to trade videos with, nobody had anything before 1981 or so, and the quality was always terrible (even worse for the early 80s, because the only original home recordings of those were made by Americans).

Because it's a quick, overly simplified, cute style. If I drew in my normal style it would take 2-3 hours or so for a single picture. These little images take maybe 15 minutes tops. Makes it much easier to get through everyone's requests.

Do you work as an illustrator or something, or is this just a hobby (that you're very good at)?

The only problem is that when you finally see the videos, they still can't replace the imaginary version.

When we watched The War Games in the stream recently, I couldn't believe they forgot to include stealing a time capsule in the charges at the Doctor's trial.

Of course it's not there, just like it hasn't been there any of the other times I've watched the video. But my brain still won't accept that. There must be something wrong with the recording, because that's definitely part of the story. It's how we first learn that he stole the TARDIS!

McIntee wanted to do it in S27, but there was no S27, so he did it as a book. The Doctor picks up H.P. Lovecraft and takes him through his new Call of Cthulhu adventure about Haitian zombies vs. Great Old Ones.

According to All-Consuming Fire and some of the succeeding novels, most of the Lovecraftish stuff from Doctor Who literally are Lovecraft's Great Old Ones and Outer Gods. The Great Intelligence is Yog-Sothoth, the Nestene are the Black Young of Shub-Niggurath, etc.

But that really doesn't improve anything. Fenric doesn't get scarier or more interesting when you say he's actually Hastur.

Meanwhile, Cthulhu was too scary for Doctor Who, but not for the Ghostbusters cartoon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5yFBeuK-no

Earfagging isn't small, here. It's basically just people who haven't delved deep into the extended Whoniverse and people who have — of course, no one in the former has consumed EVERYTHING, so whether or not there's a middle point along the spectrum is debatable.

The sun is quoting some letter but is there any proof that it's actually real?
If it's definitely real, does that mean it's time for a non-pure-white doctor or are the BBC secretly quite firm in asserting that the doctor must be a white male for consistency?
>>
>>81832555
Even if the Sun isn't making this up, the letter is almost certainly not real, because that's not what a BBC Complaints response sounds like.

And even if it were real, it's seemingly deliberately phrased in an awkward way that means it would still be true if they haven't cast anyone yet and Chibs ends up casting a female Doctor.

And even if that weren't true, it could mean they've decided it must be another white man, or that they've decided it must be a diversity casting but race is more important than sex, or just that they've already cast someone who happens to be a man.

So really, there's no information there at all. As with most articles in the Sun.

Despite their weird assertion that "time lords don't like using Tardis's anymore", they're not really wrong. In all of the classic series the only other Time Lords except for the Master that the Doctor runs into is Drax, The Rani, and the weird racist character in Pertwee's last story.

That's not very many, especially considering two of those are just one-offs and The Rani is only in two stories.

There are obviously a lot more than I originally remembered, but I think it's still a decent point. The Doctor very rarely bumps into other Time Lords and none of them are regulars like the Master. And it's never happened in the new series. So I can see where the OP is coming from
>>

>A lot of yours don't count though since this is about Time Lords the Doctor's bumped into when travelling, not just any whatsoever.
The ones he meets on Gallifrey, or on Ravolox, or in The End of Time, are already combined into a single line. The rest are people he meets elsewhere in the universe.

And really, you shouldn't expect him to meet anyone at all. There are billions of stars and billions of years, and only hundreds of renegade Time Lords, CIA agents, off-world retirees, etc. to bump into. The only reason he meets any other Time Lords is that they're drawn together by events—the Master going to Earth specifically because the Doctor is there, Drax and the Doctor both being sucked into the Black Guardian's quest for the Key to Time, The War Chief working for the War Lords when the Doctor's TARDIS brings him there to stop them, etc.

(Chronotis and K'anpo actually do seem to be a complete coincidence, but I think you can assume some off-screen backstory—maybe the reason the Doctor picked Earth in the first place was because of one of them.)

I'd actually like to see how he stores/displays his trophies.

For example, he's got a BAFTA and an Oscar for directing the best short film of the year, and then he's got a GQ Style Award for the best-dressed man of the year on TV… do you put those together? Hide the GQ in a drawer? Put the GQ front and center and sort of bury the more important awards toward the back and sides of the collection?

I guess it's just semantics really. But in my opinion, I wouldn't count Romana or the Time Lords who pick him up in War Games, since he doesn't bump into those by chance. I also wouldn't count Chronotis, but that's just because Shada is not canon.

>And really, you shouldn't expect him to meet anyone at all
That's true. Not just for Time Lords though, but for anybody. The idea that the Doctor could bump into the same person twice by chance is extremely unrealistic. But it happens.

The Mirror is reporting that David Bradley will portray William Hartnell's first Doctor in the 2017 Christmas special, (sort of) reprising his role from the 2013 making-of drama, An Adventure In Space And Time.

"In the plot, the 1st Doctor has to help the 12th [Peter Capaldi] play out his last mission in the TARDIS. The pair must work together to save [their] home planet Gallifrey by moving it to another dimension", The Mirror claims.

Holy shit could this be real? Could Moffuck actually have done something as cool as have the EYES scene actually secretly have been the start of 12's regeneration all along?

But he probably doesn't bump into any Time Lords at all by chance. Certainly not the Master, Drax, or the Rani.

There are some cases where we don't know the backstory, but it's more likely that there is one (why did the Doctor choose Earth in the first place? maybe because K'anpo, his respected mentor, had chosen it? or maybe they were both inspired by someone else?) than that they both happened to randomly pick 19UNIT0s Earth out of the blue.

I don't really get this. Are they talking about the time it was moved in Day of the Doctor, or moving it a second time? Either idea sounds kinda nonsensical. We've already seen how it was moved then, so where would the conflict/plot come from?

>>
>>81837743
Not that anon but in real life emotions don't really work like that. You'd forget what the person even looks like long before the 2000 years were up, let alone be able to sustain enough love and passion to continue devoting your life to protecting an indestructible box.
>>
>>81837749
Exactly. The big ones that are more likely to draw the general publics attention, like female doctor rumours or Kris Marshall get promoted more but they'll still publish anything
>>
>>81837743
Do you have any conception of how long 2000 years really is? Most people can barely hack it for 40 years, and that's actually getting to see and interact with the person on a regular basis. Have you ever been in a long-distance relationship? Imagine that, but much worse, for almost 100 times as long as your entire life so far.

(Let's ignore the fact that it was completely unnecessary in the first place, because a box that's completely impregnable to the Doctor is surely not at risk to any pre-modern technology.)

Well, exactly. When people say "I'll love you forever", they mean it metaphorically, not literally. (Or they think they mean it literally, but they're wrong.) Because if they actually somehow ended up living forever, and were separated for billions of years, nobody remotely sane would hold them to that promise.

In the novel Interference, there's an implication that Fitz may have managed to hold onto his memory of the Doctor for 800 years despite dying multiple times and being recreated from other people's remembrances of him each time.

That's actually a lot sweeter (without getting into the running theme/joke/whatever of whether his love is romantic/sexual or not) than Rory or Twelve. It's just plausible enough that you can imagine someone sane actually doing that. And he's not uselessly throwing away dozens (or millions) of lifespans worth of life, he's still living.

I understand why Moffat wants to exaggerate the idea to make it more grand and dramatic, but I think the subtler version could be more effective, even on a 45-minute TV episode.

>>81838592
>interrogative
Well, I guess you could call asking questions that.

>Not sure why you didn't reply to the other anons in the new thread that copyanonned posts, instead asking if I was here too
Because I understand that aspect of it, they're just continuing a discussion, and I didn't want to derail the thread like we did last time, especially when we can just freely talk here instead.

Honestly, I just find you really interesting but it's also frustrating because I can tell I'll never be able to understand your motives.
>>
>>81838677
>Well, I guess you could call asking questions that.
I can't tell if you're being deliberately difficult here, trolling me, or legitimately losing focus of the conversation. I brought up the line-by-line analysis. You said it was just a method of asking questions. I replied it was interrogative. You deflect and say just asking questions is that. The topic was the line-by-line analysis, but you shifted the topic away from that to dismiss what I was saying. It's very difficult to talk to someone when they slide the topic away; we're just talking past each other at that point.

>I can tell I'll never be able to understand your motives.

I've answered all your questions, you can go back through...I think 4 threads back when we had a talk? If you don't understand my answers then that's that, but I've been perfectly forthcoming.
>>
>>81838724
This is why I find talking to you fascinating (and confusing). You seem to interpret the smallest changes in conversation as being completely topic-changing. What am I supposed to say to you declaring my method of responding to you was interrogative? Did you want me to apologise? Like, I'm not denying anything here. I did respond to your post bit-by-bit, sort of how you just responded to two of my points and I'm responding to two of yours now. That's how conversations work on this platform when the post are long enough.

I don't understand why that's such a big deal to you or what you're expecting from me in relation to it

>I've answered all your questions
Yeah, you have. I don't understand most of your answers though. And it feels like you don't understand why somebody would even ask these questions so I can tell we're never going to get anywhere there.
>>
>>81836317
Well my understanding is that the time lords officially only observed and preferred not to get involved (ignoring the hundreds of times they did shady shit under the radar). The Doctor and the Master are the two that liked to interfere. However, there must still be Timelords who exist in the universe from before the TImelock or did the Timelock retroactively erase their presence in history?
>>
>>81838798

I'm not particularly fussed how you reply, regarding your question of whether I wanted an apology or anything, I was just replying to you in turn. I'm just...participating in a conversation with you. I don't have any real motives beyond talking to you, since you started a conversation with me.

If you don't feel we're going to get anywhere, why did you start up another conversation with me when this thread went dead? We don't need to talk you know. I'm happy to answer you if you ask me questions, but if you don't feel like the conversation is worthwhile then I don't see why we should continue it.
>>
>>81838806
They definitely didn't exist anymore for the Doctor to go and visit, or he would have just done so. Remember what a big deal it was when he thought he discovered the Corsair was still out there, outside the time lock, somewhere he could reach?

How exactly that works is never really explained on-screen, but RTD's essay on the Time War in DWM said (paraphrasing—and it's been a long time, so I may be getting it wrong) that the Daleks and Time Lords took themselves out of space and time to fight the War. So from the moment the War began, there were no longer any "pre-War" Time Lords, only Time Lords within the War. So when the Doctor locked that War, that was that.
>>
>>81838850
>I'm not particularly fussed how you reply, regarding your question of whether I wanted an apology or anything, I was just replying to you in turn. I'm just...participating in a conversation with you. I don't have any real motives beyond talking to you, since you started a conversation with me.
Wow, this is so baffling, anon. Just last post you were saying I'm "trolling" or "losing focus of the conversation", and that "it's very difficult to talk to someone when they slide the topic away" because of the way I responded to you saying that my way of asking questions was interrogative, so then I ask you what was wrong with my response and what you expected instead and you just respond with this totally calm Reply However You Want, It Doesn't Bother Me post?

So what was the problem in the first place? Why were you so opposed to how I responded to your interrogative statement and then why are you suddenly so relaxed about it?

>We don't need to talk you know
I know. But the more I talk to you, the less I understand about your perspective and your concept of what conversation is. I can't just stop responding to you when you provide so much curiosity/confusion.
>>
>>81838806
One more thing: Remember that this is a Time War. Presumably that means each side is trying to destroy the other side's history, and lock up their own history so it can't be destroyed. Which would mean anyone who was part of the War can't be casually visited by anyone from outside of it (whether before or after).

I admit I'm getting that more from the previous War in the EDA (and FP) novels than from anything ever said about the LGTW, but if it's not something kind of like that, in what sense is it a "Time War"?

(That's the problem I have with the way the LGTW was depicted in the 50th anniversary, and, worse, the War Doctor audios. It's not a Time War, it's just a space war between two empires that happen to have time travel but don't seem to be using it even for the kind of stuff that's obvious to lower life forms like you and me, much less for stuff we couldn't even comprehend.)
>>
>>81838982
>Just last post you were saying I'm "trolling" or "losing focus of the conversation"

Not what I said. I said "I can't tell if you're being deliberately difficult here, trolling me, or legitimately losing focus of the conversation". "I can't tell" is the key part there. I didn't accuse you of trolling, I said I can't tell if you're trolling. This is precisely what I meant by it being difficult to talk with you - you interpret what I'm saying in odd or antagonistic ways that sidle off the apparent focus of conversation.

I think wires are getting crossed regarding "calmness". I'm not bothered in the sense that this conversation isn't aggrieving me or anything. But I'm giving it, and you, the baseline level of respect I'd give anyone or any conversation; I'm participating in good faith. So if I feel like we're talking at cross-purposes I'm not just going to give up and stop talking to you, I'll bring it up. Does that make sense to you? I'm not personally bothered by the outcome of this conversation, but I think talking to anyone else on /who/ is worth taking seriously enough to not waste their time, so I'm "taking it seriously".

>Why were you so opposed to how I responded to your interrogative statement and then why are you suddenly so relaxed about it?

I don't see a conflict here. I'm "relaxed" about this conversation because it's not a big deal to either of us, we're just idling away time on 4chan. But I'm not trolling you or anything, so I'm talking to you in good faith. I don't really see a "problem"; I'm just responding to you. You're the one starting the conversations, the one intrigued by me. I'm only reacting here.

>I can't just stop responding to you when you provide so much curiosity/confusion.

Do you mean this in the sense that you're trying to provoke me, or just that you're interested in talking to me? If the former, I'm getting inclined to stop responding really, because that feels pretty close to trolling.
