I fucking love this girl so god damn much. I think that she's so beautiful. Not in the modern super model big tits perfect face sort of beautiful — just in that average but not average way, that normal yet abnormal way. That way that I can't articulate.

She's so sentimental, too. She'll tear up and she won't say stupid crap like a lot of reactors.

I think her boyfriend left her or something. She was complaining about personal stuff and she said her boyfriend wasn't gonna be in some Walking Dead reactions but she didn't say why.

I'd kill to watch Doctor Who with this girl. Just that smile in the thumbnail makes my heart flutter.

Honestly I dont feel that show is alive since series 7.
It always FELT alive whole RTD run, series 5 and series 6a, but after that... people just stopped caring.
Everyone stopped caring.
First massive disaster was Lets Kill Hitler. Then Wedding came.
Then Narnia christmas. Fuck it.
Then series 7 that praised mediocrity.
Series 8 and 9... well it's my opinion, but they were pretty mediocre too. Could've been MUCH better.
I understand people who say that its the golden age of nuwho, but for me it just doesnt click. I adore Capaldi though, but show feels dead as fuck.
I'm sorry.

>>80578318
>>80578210
I don't see how he could really, they really are just old and a bit fat now, it wouldn't have looked good at all and I can see why they ignored the rest.

On the same lines Tom Baker is iconic, people who have never seen Doctor Who know who Tom Baker's Doctor is, and that scene was the best bit in the episode, the rest of it was pretty bog standard.
>>
>>80580747

I agree with you. I've sort of fallen out of love with the series and it seems like not even the BBC likes it any more. The lack of promotion for series 9 was the nail in the coffin.

>>80581013

>>
>>80580988

You can't deny during the RTD era, the show seemed to have more love given to it from the BBC than it currently does.
>>
>>80580747
Same, but after a decade or whatever its been I'm just a bit over it all.

Capaldi's had a decent run, but I was never into it and I won't be into his replacement. I was 13 when Doctor Who re-started in 2005 and loved it, then came Moffat's reign and I thought it was the best thing ever, then as soon as Matt Smith left so did my big interest. Not because he left, but it was just time.

I'll continue to watch it but I and I think the majority of people have simply grown up a lot since they watched it and it isn't for them anymore. I have absolutely no faith in Chinballs though of doing a better job.

The Trickster's Brigade would've compensated around all of that. They wanted control of Earth, not complete disarray. The only thing that they couldn't compensate for was the reality bomb, which is understandable considering how mighty the Dalek forces were. And Lazarus wouldn't matter because the Doctor wouldn't have brought the Master back from the end of the universe to fund Lazarus as Harold Saxon.

It was a shit concept from the start. It could never have been good. They could have put out a unit series that's basically the 3rd doctor era format with the blonde chick and a cast of military dudes. The Tenth Doctor was about 900, The Eleventh Doctor was about 1200. Which makes the LATTER more of a pedophile. BRAVO Moffat, you managed to outdo RTD's dumbest plotline!
>>
>>80582101
Why's it always a choice between RTD and Moffat?

They're practically the same. They both write the Doctor the same way, they've both sexualised the show, they both have a similar opinion to how the companion should be written.

The only difference is their approach to regeneration.

It makes neither of them a paedophile. Paedophillia is an attraction to children. All of the companions have been over 18.

Gallifreyan laws on age of consent are probably quite different, seeing as they age slower. A human young adult is probably mentally a child to Time Lords.

A 19 year old could still legally marry, kiss, and have sex with, an 80 year old - although I don't know why. The 80 year old would no doubt consider the 19 year old a kid, but it would be completely legal.

In light of further development, he was a grandfather at age that would probably make him a teen by gallifreyan standards.

A society like this probably has concepts of consent that deal in matters more complex than simple numerical age.
>>
>>80582506
I don't get that impression. Most of RTD's closet skeletons are in his finales and Christmas specials, both of which are usually shit in both era's. It also helps to even things out that Moffat lost his best writter when he got to be in charge.

Because he/she has a lot of money and isn't going to live much longer, of course.

>But would it be legal for the Doctor? The age of consent on Gallifrey is almost certainly higher than 18 lol.
In The Time Warrior, he implies that 200 is the age when you become an adult. Obviously they weren't talking about sex (because they virtually never did), but presumably the age of consent is in the same ballpark as the age of majority.

You could just say "Eh, that's a throwaway line from the classic series that nobody remembers"… if RTD hadn't gone out of his way to remind us that 90 is a kid to Time Lords.

I mean, humans become sexually mature in their early teens so by your logic we should lower the age of consent to something ridiculous like 13. The fact is that mental maturity is important too. Rose is mentally a kid to 10.
>>
>>80582718

It's hardly the only time RTD often went out of his way to establish something as a fact in NuWho even though it had been just a single throwaway line in Classic Who that everyone but the sad autists would have forgotten otherwise.

The Curator is from the Doctor's future, not his past.

So why is he Tom Baker? Because when he retired and looked over all his past incarnations, he was a grumpy old Planet Mondas type, and he decided all his NuWho selves were shit, and he was only ever any good in the Hinchcliffe-Holmes era (and maybe his first two incarnations, but his memory of those had been erased by the Blinovit ch Broadcasting Corporation), so of course he chose his face from that era. How is Jenna a major star? Because of Victoria, a show with about 2/3rds the viewers of Doctor Who?

Matt Smith is a bigger star than her, but still nowhere near as big as David Tennant.

As for Karen, she's got even less going on than Arthur.

He's definitely the last regeneration. The Doctor talks about retiring every once in a while, but he'd never actually stick to it until then.

Plus, Shada established that Time Lords are allowed to retire to another planet in their last regeneration, but Chronotis is the only one to ever do it in recent memory; the Doctor following his footsteps is perfect.

Your idea about him flickering through past faces works, but I like him picking one face better. (Chronotis only had one face…) And, while the Planet Mondas stuff was obviously facetious, I could see picking Four. He seems like one of the few personalities that could handle retirement (and be happy about it rather than what Seven and Eleven were like in their retirements). Although Five might work even better.

Having a minor part in a major movie does not make you a major star. She got less than $150K for Guardians. Arthur made more than that for a season of Legends of Tomorrow and a season of Broadchurch. Tennant made more than that from Marvel for a TV show.

She may be able to parlay her Marvel exposure into something bigger, but so far, it hasn't happened. And it's not like "being in a Marvel blockbuster" is something that half of Hollywood doesn't have on their resume by now.

Tom being the Curator has been canon for years though

Someone should just make a new Gallifrey Base account named "Insignificant Specimen" or "Alopecia Bag". It would be hilarious.

I'll do it.

Pretty sure they'd just reject you. The admins might have a little chuckle over someone making fun of an asshole they just banned, but their forums are Serious Business, not a place for chuckles like that.

I was thinking more about exposure rather than salary. She's in some big blockbusters - more people will see her in Avengers and Jumanji than Arthur in Arrow or whatever.

Most people don't remember the minor characters in a movie unless they're somehow especially memorable. And nobody thinks she was the breakout character in Guardians. There are hundreds of actors who had small parts in one of the Marvel blockbusters, and most people can't name most of them.

As I said, she might be able to parlay it into stardom, but it hasn't happened yet.

Nebula's probably going to be a bigger character in the next few films. I'm not saying she's massive, I'm just saying she's more well known than Arthur Darvill. Maybe not Tennant, so I shouldn't have said all the Doctors and companion.

Yeah, because every other Marvel movie so far has been a faithful adaptation of the comic story it was based on.

Meanwhile, Marvel announced the stars of Infinity War Part I, and look who's not there:
>Robert Downey Jr.
>Josh Brolin
>Mark Ruffalo
>Tom Hiddleston
>Chris Evans
>Chris Hemsworth
>Jeremy Renner
>Chris Pratt
>Elizabeth Olsen
>Sebastian Stan
>Benedict Cumberbatch
>Paul Bettany
>Samuel L. Jackson

Scarlet Johannson and Tom Holland get special mentions separate from the stars. Even Vin Diesel is just "and the rest".

LOL. Go to bed Matt.

She's literally in a movie with The Rock. She's not A List but she's bigger than Arthur. Arthur is on a shitty doctor who clone no one watches.

I was in a movie with Keanu Reeves. That got me a SAG card, but it doesn't make me a star.

The only reason she's more famous than Arthur is that they're both still far more famous for being on Doctor Who than for anything else, and she was The Companion and he was The Companion's Husband.

What?
>>
>>80587993
Give it up. People on /who/ have a really weird notion of what "a star" means. They think Hayley Atwell is too big a star for Doctor Who to afford even while she's working for Big Finish, they argue that no BBC show could ever get Hugh Laurie again even though he just did a whole series for them, so why be surprised that they think literally being in a movie with The Rock makes you famous?

And why does it matter anyway? Outside of a party in the Hollywood Hills, who cares whether someone is B-list or C-list?

That scene with the soldiers and the Zygons at the church was some of the worst acting in the show' history.

Compared to Pertwee, or Tom if you count the hair, they're all manlets.

But he's the tallest of the manlets.
