If he died having mostly filmed his scenes for S10, and with them already planning to hire a new Doctor to take over in the Christmas special, it wouldn't make much difference. A few scenes they wanted to inserts for, they can probably work around. The Christmas episode would have to be rewritten to not be a regeneration story, and they'd add in some respectful reference to 12. But otherwise, everything would go on as planned.

If he died right after the first production block or something, obviously they'd cancel the season. Probably an out-of-universe tribute to Capaldi/don't forget Doctor Who show in place of episode 1, then nothing until Christmas.

So I've been watching classic who for the first time from the beginning. I got through Hartnell's run and enjoyed it. I finished Troughton's run and liked it even more. Now I'm on Pertwee, and just finished terror of the autons' the only story of his that I've really enjoyed so far is Inferno.

Terror of the Autons was one that I especially disliked, and I know that story is generally well thought of. I feel like I'm going crazy over here due to the huge disparity between how much praise I've heard this era get and how much I'm not enjoying it.

Help me out here. What am I missing?

Pertwee's era is actually pretty divisive for fandom in general. Look at dwrg, and you'll see that at least half the regular reviewers hate the entire Pertwee era and are just watching for scenes where you can spot the stuntman standing in for the Doctor to laugh at it.

And really, it's pretty different from the rest of Who, especially the first two years, so that's not too surprising.

Human Nature is a good novel, and I think it's better than the TV story. Not because it was badly adapted, just because there's only so much you can cram into 90 minutes, and most of the themes that got cut are as interesting as the stuff that stayed.

The only part I don't like about the TV version is that they tried to turn Benny's suffrage story into a Martha race story. The 1910s are the perfect setting for Benny's story, but Martha's version has to be in the 1960s. As it was, they really couldn't figure out anything to do with it because bring it up and then forget it, and that just makes you wonder, "Wait, how did they deal with bringing Martha to even more racist settings than 1910s country England?"

If you want to tell the same story with Martha as a black person in a racist era, you need an equivalent to the suffrage movement or there's no story to adapt. The 1960s civil rights movement would work for that, but in the 1910s, there's really nothing. So they start the subplot and it just fizzles and goes nowhere.

I've hypothesized they're pictures or like headshots of capaldi to sign. For sale, now or later. It's something that these "superfans" do occasionally. I either read an article about it or it was mentioned in that documentary with Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter presenting. Which if you haven't seen Anon; /who/, it's really good. Kind of gives an insight into these fans that follow around stars to get pics or autographs and the plight of the stars having to deal with them and how weird and creepy it can get.
