Morning patrol isn't available on amazon and the torrents for it are slow but if you can immerse yourself in the quiet mood it creates it offers some reward.

Legend or was it is not as moving as Narayama and it could do with being a bit longer to slow things down a little/flesh out the film more but its a suspenseful little film nonetheless especially when it gets round to its second half.

I've avoided the arthouse documentary thing until lately, being suspect of it, but Baraka is helping me change my mind, this is the kind of rich visuals and photography that allow the viewer to feel almost like they were there, its an easy film to just pause and look at any shot, while there were great shots in the second half it was the shots in the first that got my attention most.

As the rating makes clear I abhorred Get out, admittedly near the last stretch there's an idea there that with the right hands could work but its only momentarily suspenseful at best and the comedy just totally missed the mark for me.
And I'm getting tired of this blatant on the nose stuff in some films, its too heavy handed.

Heard that, it sounds atrocious. Maybe in the hands of a skilled director it could be okay, but Erdmann is distinctly european in setting and themes, so I don't believe it's possible to transition to an American setting.

Toni Erdmann exists in that place between laughing and crying if that makes sense. The "comedic" parts make you laugh only because you don't know how to react otherwise. It rides the line between comedy and tragedy throughout.

Hopefully that gives you a better idea of what to expect.

Then it sounds like you might enjoy it. Yeah, I was intimidated by the running time as well but it really does fly by. Maren Ade apparently shot 100+ hours of footage and it was whittled down to just under 3, so most scenes are the cream of the crop.
