Yes, but it only really works in a few books. If you pick and choose the right ones, it's great, but in most of them, it's not. And right when it seems like everyone (or at least three writers in a row) finally get the hang of the dynamic, Ace leaves again, for good.

Only a few books are really good because of Seven/Ace/Benny, but a lot more are really good anyway despite not getting it right, for a variety of different reasons. So it's not like you've got 22 books of horrible crap to slog through.

It can tell any story in all of time and space and it always ends up a shitty looking celebration of mediocrity.
It's a predictable, safe formulaic children's show where the Le wacky man saves the day with some 'witty' banter and a 'clever' scheme.
The Doctor never goes anywhere in his development, just going from dark to light or dark to light depending on the incarnation.
It has no love for science or history, it just boils everything down for lowest common denominator. It's a waste of time and effort,

In series we see him being a grumpy old shite, cold and unsure of himself. By series end he resolves this. In series 10 he regains most of his personality and excitement that he once had but still feels his age so to speak. Now in series 10 we look like we will get his final development a mix of series 8 Capaldi and series 9 Capaldi.

The chemistry is magic. No wonder they seemed to jump at the chance to involve Lucas more in the series. To say she's the new girl, she feels oddly sidelined. Sure, she gets the speech in the new teaser but check out that DVD TBC photo - Pearl's photo was taken seperately, and more of the focus seems to have shifted to Capaldi and Lucas.

He'd have more of a point if he'd ranted about how 12 just waltzes around the Daleks as though they're not a threat. I know he's sort of "infiltrated" them but still, don't diminish their threat by having him chatting and whizzing about with them. (This bugged me about 10 and 11 too.) 9 showed genuine fear each time he faced the Daleks. Since 10, apart from the odd glimpse, the Doctors have just treated the Daleks like a joke.
