not sure what to think of this one. could be good.
Is the whole movie on that aspect ratio?

I'm hoping it will be like Mommy and change to reflect the moment in the film
Are Casey and rooney dating?
Why her character is wearing such a skimpy hiking outfit is revealed.
The plot involves four high-school students who are forced to clean out the basement of their school while in detention. They find an old video game (rather than a board game like in the version of the movie starring Robin Williams) and each chooses a character to play. The teenagers become the characters they selected, leading a nerdy boy to become The Rock's character and a popular girl to become Jack Black's character.
>A more shy, reserved teenage girl ends up becoming Karen Gillan's character.
>The video game is old and dusty, so presumably the reason that she is dressed in tiny clothing is because that's how female video game characters used to be dressed.
so she is lara croft?
>Controversial

here's a better picture for you, OP
Why did this good movie get snubbed? it should've gotten at least 6 or 7 oscar nominations.
>>81016448
Cuz there wasn't some faggoty liberal moral to soapbox on for the entire movie
this movie felt like it was something from the 80s where it was just unpretentious straightforward storytelling
>>81016790
so you're telling me that if they both kissed at the end of the movie, it could've gotten more recognition?
>giving a shit about the oscars

What would you guys think of a mini series by the BBC about say Capaldi as a detective and a male actor as another detective teamed with Capaldi to investigate a bunch of strange murders. For most of the mini-series it's all very realistic but in the last episode the twist is both detectives are the Master and Doctor respectively given false memories of human lives and families, and made to become human via the chameleon arch by the Time Lords to track down this dangerous Time Lord, the reason they are made human would because this Time Lord can sense other Time Lords (as can all Time Lords) and bails the moment he senses their presence. Thus they are made human for the Time being. The Master's human self would ironically be the ''good cop'' in the series (due to false memories), while Capaldi would be the rougher more morally flexible cliche cop. It's a messy idea, but one I think would be great if done right, plus it's only a mini-series. Doesn't even have to be Capaldi can be any past Doctor but not the current one, also the Master in this mini-series would be a once off Master as to not make it obvious it's Doctor Who...
Help me out /who/. I've got a quote in my head that I think comes from Doctor Who. It goes something like this:
Bad Guy: I wasn't as bad as I could've been.
Good Guy: Because you spared a few? Because she had a little child or she had a pretty smile? And you call yourself merciful.
Bad Guy: You'd only know that if you were a killer.
I also think the Bad Guy was a woman. Now that I type it out it might've been when the Doctor captured captured the Siltheen in Nine's season.
Ringing any bells?

You think the BBC has a hard time advertising and marketing Doctor Who, imagine how much worse it would be if they couldn't even call it Doctor Who.
Are you a Han Solo or a Luke Skywalker?

Why is this a meme? All he says is reasonable and the only people having trouble are people with zero self-discipline.

I don't understand why they initially depicted them the way they were in the short story, only for the end reveal that they're actually big squids.
It didn't really add anything.
Arrival is part of a recent series of movies I'd describe as Dunning-Kruger Sci-Fi. Along with Interstellar and to a somewhat lesser extent The Martian, they perfectly play to the crowd that fancies themselves as (and, to be fair, may truly be) smarter than average audiences but are not as smart as genuinely "smart people." They are movies designed to make the audience feel smart by introducing complicated and heady concepts, and then holding the viewer's hand the entire way through until there is next to nothing to be left up to interpretation.
If you didn't already know the twist in Arrival by the time she was in the milky section of the ship with the aliens AT LEAST, you perfectly fit the audience I am talking about.
There is no reward for being smart while viewing these movies because everything is eventually spelled out in big fridge magnet letters. Any clever idea is made so transparent that even the most simple in the audience will get it. It also removes any reward for rewatching or trying to figure out what you just saw.
Granted, there is a difference between Arrival and Interstellar. I think where Interstellar was pretending to have a brain it actually didn't have, Arrival has a brain that it is refusing to let the audience use.
Completely disappointing movie.

My Grandfather used to say "well, that's this film ruined" whenever a woman appeared. Now that I'm older, I see he was right.
Anyone got any other classy movies with no women?
