The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worthy of being saved.

Are esports going to be the next big hit on TV?
I tried watching them but they are all shit and all the players are ugly and annoying.
>>85625190
But they have superior minds.
Their audience doesn't watch TV.
Name ONE (1) (uno) movie that is:
1) Recent, within the past 5 years
2) Enjoyable for a casual audience and decently reviewed
3) Doesn't have forced leftist/feminist politics (or actors/actresses that are openly politically left)
4) Isn't capeshit
>>85625138
a movie cannot be "decently reviewed" without having "forced leftist/feminist politics"

I respect your opinion anon but this film is pretty terrible. those south african rappers can't act for toffee and the plot is essentially more violent short circuit. District 9 must have been a fluke becuase bloomkompfjampf hasn't made a good film since.

This was pure kinome.
kino
The perfect confluence of stereotypical nerdy plebshit, it's the average /v/ poster, relatively new to the site, who goes to all the big boards on the site and shits them all up equally with his narrow knowledge and experience with various artistic mediums. He knows mainstream video games, he knows mainstream anime, he knows mainstream cartoons (especially those from the 90s and early 00s), and he knows only the biggest comic book characters. And he feels marginalized by society because of how much of a shut in he is, so he'll have the most shallow /pol/ opinions and tastes. He'll prattle on endlessly about cucks and interracial porn, but he isn't informed or even cares about international political issues and happenings. It's just a slight veneer of racism and misogyny and the rejection of anything that could be considered "degenerate."
And the cross poster signals all of this to his other cross posters with the word "kino." It's like those hobo chalk signs. You slap it on a thread so other cross posters know it's safe to come out of the woodwork.

>For as yet unclear reasons, Euron is also capturing priests from all of the world's religions and holding them prisoner aboard the Silence, torturing them. From a preview chapter from the sixth novel, Euron apparently attempts to use them all as human sacrifices in a mass ritual which will usher him is as a dark messiah of sorts for whatever dark powers he may or may not be in league with. Euron manages to capture his own brother Aeron Greyjoy right after the Kingsmoot and hold him prisoner about the Silence as it advances south to Oldtown, during which time he force-feeds him Shade of the evening, giving Aeron a distorted, psychedelic vision of what Euron intends, part of which involves Euron seated on the Iron Throne, with a shadow in woman’s form, long and tall and terrible, her hands alive with pale white fire at his side, and the gods of every religion impaled on the throne's spikes.
Euron is the messiah of the drowned god!
>"Rickon isn't it?"
>"Dickon!"
>"That's it"
Guys, I hope you realize this was a direct mention of /got/. Rickon and Dickon is a /got/ meme that is used NOWHERE ELSE on the Internet. We invented it.
D&D have no reason to make Jaime mention the name Rickon randomly, out of nowhere, in that convo except to wink at us.
Finally proof that they are reading /got/. Feels weird man.
>"'That's not you' is a direct reference to what Arya herself said to her father when her father painted this picture for her of the life she could have as a lady of a castle and marrying some lord and wearing a nice frilly dress," said Weiss. "Arya's not domesticated, and it makes total sense that her wolf wouldn't be either. Once the wolf walks away, at first she's heartbroken to have come this close, and then she realizes the wolf is doing exactly what she would do if she were that wolf."
>Noted Benioff, "This scene hearkens back to Season 1. ... When she finally finds Nymeria again, or Nymeria finds her, and she of course wants her to come back home with her and be her loyal companion again, but Nymeria's found her own life."
Well shit, D&D are smarter than they seem

spike jonze is the last good director of our time. prove me wrong (protip you cant)
We have the Lynchmister this very moment though
>>85379601
oh yes forgot about him. i believe you have proved me wrong
>>85379548
We also still have PTA, Malick, Fincher, Bennett Miller, Rick Alverson and Shane Carruth
Jonze still needs a bit of time to come into his own. His early work shined I think mainly because of the actors and Kaufman's scripts. Her was a great solo venture though, and if he continues on that path, he'll definitely be cemented as one of the best.
