Miyamoto went so far with his gimmick stupidity that he practically had it forced upon you to use them whether you liked it or not. You had no means of disabling it, he believed this kind of gameplay would make you feel like you were operating an actual plane, except that's complete bullshit since it's nowhere near that at all. HG has been used to the speed of /b/ for quite a while, it sort of turned our pace roundabout into a circle jerk of RP/cuck. 50% of the posts are shitty replies saying "oh boy I fucking ran away" or some stupid shit, which makes the thread last not even 15 minutes. The only exception is the host of the game who HAS to post his events in order to progress the thread. In this case, hosts who don't take up more than 2 threads are considered very good hosts.

M1, Super, and Prime are not only high selling Metroids but considered masterpieces by fans themselves (and Nintendo), yet Zero Mission (remade to be more like Super) or the Prime Trilogy collection didn't even break a million on the GBA/Wii.

both SF and Metroid however were never as popular or as mainstream as TLoZ is among video "gamers" alike. basically like DMC3 and NGB is masterpiece to most dedicated hack 'n slash fans while GoW, a much known hack 'n slash, and it's holy grail title, GoW 3, is seen more of a masterpiece everywhere else even Kamiya and Sakurai himself than to DMC and NGB.

Skyward Sword was probably kind of an "I told you so" moment for Aonuma. He just wanted a chance to do a Zelda game on his own, but couldn't get Miyamoto out of his hair. The game got okay reviews but wasn't a massive seller, and the things people cited as their complaints against it were mostly Miyamoto's ideas.

With Breath of the Wild and Star Fox Zero, it seems almost like Nintendo said "Miyamoto, we'll let you do whatever you want with Star Fox Zero, but you have to leave Aonuma alone while he works on the new Zelda." Basically they let Miyamoto ruin Star Fox so he'd be too distracted to ruin Zelda.

Aonuma has been playing a lot of his competitors' games in recent years, and you can clearly see influence from the likes of Skyrim and Dragon's Dogma in the new game. Aonuma is open to being influenced by other games and I think BOTW will be a much fresher feeling Zelda than most that have come otu in recent years. Miyamoto on the other hand insists on keeping his mind "pure" by not playing games on anything but Nintendo systems.

The real point of intrigue will be to compare Star Fox Zero's sales with Breath of the Wild's. If BOTW sells well without Miyamoto's direct supervision, while Star Fox Zero was a major flop which Miyamoto is directly responsible for, Nintendo's higher ups will probably start pressuring Miyamoto to retire so they can re-structure the creative approval process. Rather than have one senior creative officer who is in charge of everything, they'll probably have a group of creative officers who are younger and more open to new ideas and approaches to making games than what Nintendo has done in the past.

Because Star Fox Zero is the fist new release in the series in a decade, it's undertstandable that there's been a lot of fans releasing their projects around its launch window, although as you pointed out no-one is doing anything specifically related to Star Fox Zero. Hell, the video you posted even has Krystal who doesn't show up in Zero at all.

Zero is a bunch of old recycled memes and doesn't really bring anything new to the table. There are no new characters, planets, stories, or anything. There are some new vehicles like the Chicken Walker and Gyro Wing, but no-one likes those, and they are not inspiring any fan art. It's like Nintendo was hoping that everyone would just start spamming Star Fox 64 memes again because they made Star Fox 64 again. It doesn't work that way, though. Star Fox 64 OC slowed down because it's an old, short game, and the fans ran out of jokes and memes to make about it.

There was nothing glamorous or prestigious about the release of Star Fox Zero. They did the anime short which was actually pretty good, but even that was met with a somewhat cool reception just because no-one was particularly excited about playing Star Fox 64 again, especially when we just got a perfectly serviceable remake just a few years ago on the 3DS.

We didn't need another remake of Star Fox 64 less than 5 years later, especially not one that wastes so many resources on such an unambitious re-imagining. While 64 3D was enjoyable as the original Star Fox 64 with a fresh coat of paint, Zero feels like a wasted effort and comes across as outdated, tired, and overall wholly unnecessary. Miyamoto doesn't seem to get it that we don't want every Star Fox game to have the same story, planets, villains and side characters as the original.

Nintendo just doesn't understand why people like Star Fox. It's the combination of space opera and Disney-esque animal characters, as well as its pencheant for fast paced action with tight controls. Star Fox Zero was just dreadfully boring and it did nothing in terms of story that Star Fox 64 hadn't done already, and the character designs were kind of shitty compared to some of the previous games. Star Fox Adventures from a decade ago had more emotive and expressive looking characters, and in terms of design Zero is a step backwards in every way.

Especially considering that they replaced Pierce Brosnan with Daniel Craig. I wasn't looking for a remake of the Goldeneye movie set in the Daniel Craig continuity, I just wanted Goldeneye. If you're going to remake a game you should at least understand why people are nostalgic for the original before you proceed.

This year already saw two excellent re-imaginings of old games: Ratchet and Clank, and Doom. Both were different enough from the original to feel fresh while still remaining faithful to what made the originals popular and endearing in the first place.

Miyamoto seems to think people like Star Fox 64 because it has outdated graphics and meme-filled dialogue. When SF64 came out, people liked it because it had tight controls, great production values and graphics (for its time), and it came with a rumble pak. If you compare what Star Fox 64 meant to people when it came out to what Star Fox Zero is today, Zero comes across as insulting to the original.
