So who's seen Seaspray in stores and where?
>>
Transformers is in a rut, designwise. Needs something with a different style to come along.
>>
3rd for is Darth Vader / Death Star worth ~30 dollars loose? He seems like such an absurd premise for a figure to the point where I can't help but sort of be awestruck by him.

Online stores and over a month ago. Got him for $12.
>>
>>6482379
They could always just go for just a Porsche-like car. This is doubly true if the line continues to go for a more animated look.
>>6482366
Downbeat looks about as good of an MP Jazz as we can ask for. Price is steep, though.
>>
>>6482406
>Price is steep, though.

Eh, MP Cars are hitting the $70-80+ point recently. A solid $100 is probably at least what Sunstreaker is going to be I'd assume, if not more.

Takara is going balls deep on your wallet anyway.
>>
>>6482404
If you buy two you can call him Darth Balls.
>>
>>6482389
>>6482405
Got mine on ebay from china, arrived just the other day, same price.
>>
>>6482412
That's a good point. Even fucking Bumblebee is $60. And while I don't think MP Sunstreaker looks as bad some people, it's certainly doesn't look to be worth $100+.

I'm sure I'll nevertheless be tempted when they unveil yet another MP Optimus to match the newer figures, though.

Old sows about transforming robots are weird. Like Getter Robo doesn't look at all as a combination of three jets. I guess I was spoiled by Transformers.

Probably because Getter Robo was likely designed as a show first, and toys second. Whereas Transformers were already existing toys, and they tried to copy them somewhat in the show itself.

Aussie here who got misfire and twintwist, some thoughts.

Twintwist's arm locking for vehicle mode seems clunky, one side requires alot of force, the other is sheer luck as the damn arm popped off the balljoint, otherwise he's great.

Misfire not only lacks the charm triggerhappy had but looking at the promotional images it seems the removed the decepticon emblems from the wings somewhere in production, also no front landing gear, not a big deal but why include it on one but not the other, and the sprue choices for the plastic between these 2 are fucking stupid, did you REALLY have to paint the thighs white when other white sections exist, and black hands on misfire being painted and not on the same sprue as the feet come on hasbro you could of saved MORE paint apps that way!

Did see windblade but thought why should I get a third one (first was holiday present while second was the tav one which works fine for me), the sculpt on the upperbody is the best but those thunder thighs are strange, to add insult to injury that hip ratio on her is false because the jet kibble overlaps (meaning if this was a male bot you wouldn't notice because of the sculpt but nope they had to give her birthing hips).

I'm curious to see if takara can do something with that version, otherwise I'm waiting on a sale for miss-blockhead (another issue, titan masters don't work for deluxe fembots).

Also what's going on with takara's TAV line, was hoping to see if they'd do their own bludgeon or some other spiffy repaint, hell seeing the rid combiners done by takara would be funny.

I swear though when I find slugslinger locally his chest pecs are gonna get done in silver, missed opportunity hasbro making them toy-accurate-if-worn-away-like-someones-old-g1-toy
>>

>keep them in boxes

The problem with tf's is most collectors have a high volume so even when there is order it looks like a cluster fuck, just do what you like and ignore other's opinions or else you'll have autism

>>6482692

Not the AOE repaints shelfwarming

>>6482688

I suspect after him an mp36 repaint will be shortly after
>>
>>6482437

I hate this because never once in the 86 movie, anyone blamed Hot Rod for Optimus's death.

The whole thing is that Hot Rod/Rodimus is the only one who blames himself for it.

also it killed off Magnus, Springer, Arcee (and Perceptor)....which made no sense. the 86 movie was about bringing in new toys and killing off the old ones.

TLDR, Geewunner writer who is clearly out of touch with the fandom.

thanks to this prick, we may not get the chance to properly explore other continuities and timelines.

I mean here's an idea, what if Megatron killed Starscream after they get revived on Earth but beofre he blasted the mountain causes the Autobots to get re-activated.

>black paint will hold up better against chipping

But what if its glossy?

Personally I want "toy color accurate" as it would give an excuse to give us the old toy's sword and gun accessory making him somewhat unique, black would be nice but silver, meki chromed or just a proper silver would be all I want.

Alternatively a megaplex repaint like in your pic would also work and be safer, if cheap as fuck looking but hay would be a greater play piece to make up for the deco

Just got my Titans Return Trypticon, I know to be cautious with legs, but I was wondering if there were any other issues to be aware of, I think I heard there was a issue with the tail or something?
>>
>>6482731
I heard about the tail but mine hasn't had any harm yet, infact I'd like to know a preventative fix.

Anyway unless you know which batch your trypticon is from (some later batches are fine apparently, but no one here seems to know which is which from the times I've asked) you'd better take up one of the preventative fixes, you can either

>cut the springs in the hips in half for a permanent non-reversible fix
>slot a piece of rigid plastic in between the ratchet teeth for a fix that can be reversed at any time
>grab the springs from inside of the legs and keep pressing them down until the tension is all gone

Either way you'll need a screw driver (small phillips head) and alot of cution because those springs could hit you in the face like it nearly did me.

Just don't stuff that legs with cardboard, that's stupid
>>
>>6482686
I used to separate them by color and have them in an IKEA Kallax. So one "block" would be orange, another red, etc etc. It at least made everything look a little cohesive that way even if there was no logic to why each character was there.
>>
>>6482736

trippy hip fix.jpg
683KB, 1600x1200px
>>6482744
Did you attach them already, because they come separated from the main body, if you've connected them just reverse the steps, and then just start unscrewing the screws where the leg meets the body (first the hinge bar then the housing of the leg ie the black thingie).

There are videos on the unscrewing part, would you like me to help you find one?

Also this is what the inside of one of mine's legs sorta looks like, I cut an empty yogurt container and used those between the ratchets, had to use alot of my body weight to hold the springs down so I can close the fucker back up again which may not be a problem if you choose to kill the tension in the springs (just keep squeezing until they don't feel like they can reach up and kill you)
>>
>>6482746
Ah, no haven't opened it yet, that's good, I imagined it being a pain in the ass.
>>
>>6482389
Picked mine up at Walmart in Owings Mills.
>>
>>6482747
The leg bracket connections are a simple slide in system, even a child could connect them, and are surprisingly sturdy unless they're in mid-transformation and you decide to flail the legs around like a retard.

Good for storage so unlike metro/fort max you can stuff him inside the box again
>>
>>6482716
>black paint will hold up better against chipping
>certain colors are now more durable than others
This is hilariously false.
>>
can someone explain the shoulder issues with sky shadow? heard fhere's s commin misassembly error with like two of the same arm?
>>
>>6482804
I don't mean that the black pain is inherently more durable, I just mean if black paint on black plastic chips, it'll be less noticeable than flaky metallic gray on flat gray
>>
>>6482813
Good chance it'll be glossy so it'll show scratches like a cat got to it and the plastic underneath would be grey.

And even if its matte its worse, look at the mp primal redeco, the scratches on that come up as fucking white
>>
>>6482686
The only way I have a semi-decent looking shelf is by keeping 90% of my collection in the bin and am careful not to crowd my shelf, every figure should have arms'-length distance between each other to avoid visual overload, even narrowing it down to one or two figures per shelf helps as it draws focus to a single or few figures instead of an eyesore wall of mishmash.

A few ideas based on what I've seen around Google:

>don't use plain white shelves, either go for black or grey or, if you're felling classy, brown
>consider either painting the back walls to match your bedroom / living room walls or just leaving them open, it adds a little extra layer of color
>don't have toys on the bottom level of the display, they look uncomfortably close to the floor - use that space for box or comic storage instead
>install glass doors to simultaneously protect your collection from dust and keep it like a neat professional display
>add some LEDs if you don't mind spending some extra cash, they're can help even the most fucked of the clusterfucks to stand out

With that said, I just moved and still haven't built mine, so I'll hardly call myself an authority on this.

I have a 3 level display cupboard full of gunpla and the ones at the bottom while bigger just look odd, like they're the "forgotten" ones despite being so big and prominent whilst the smaller ones on the smaller upper levels usually draw the eye towards.

THIS.

It's the obvious answer that nobody wants to consider because it means putting your toys away, but if you want a truly decent looking display, you can't look like a hoarder.

Even a fancy setup like this >>6482957 ends up looking like an autistic clusterfuck behind glass. Even more so than most, in my opinion, because now that they're imprisoned in glass cubbyholes with poor visibility, it makes it even more apparent that you don't care about aesthetics or playing with them, you just want to possess them.

I think my biggest gripe with this figure is that he got saddled with Inferno's shitty,cartoon-accurate gun. It just looks so plain and out-of-place, like a half-assed shapeways add-on. Would have been nice if he got a more toy accurate gun.

Of course, Artfire didn't even come with a rifle originally, and Nightstick is so awesome I really don't have room to complain.

The movies used to give the line a place to innovate and get crazy but it seems like John "No Paint All Gain" Warden only listened to the retarded shitposters saying MUH SCRAP and just regressed the entire thing to pre-Armada standards.
Right now I'm reconsidering the inclusion of the new Barricade into my collection; Berserker and the new Bumblebee are the only truly interesting toys in the deluxe class, Crosshairs and Cogman are the only things I'm hyped for past wave 3, all the dragons have been shit.

That being said, Titans Return did good but it had to be pushed to sneak anything with interesting engineering because MUH GEEWUN is more important than making good toys.

Cartoon accuracy for Beast Wars is fine because the show designs are obviously the most prominent, intricate and aesthetically remarkable references for the characters they represent. The vast majority of BW toys, as good as they were for their time, were also conceived as trying to imitate the CGI models rather than just attempting to be their own thing, hence why finally getting there to a near perfect level after two decades is so impressive. The same doesn't go for G1 characters: they were toys first and comics second and, while the cartoons were perhaps the most significant interpretations of those characters for whoever grew up watching it, they were also easily the most plain and aesthetically bland ones. Sticking exclusively to the artistic limitations of a rushed saturday morning cartoon instead of taking design cues from toys, comics and all other representations those same G1 characters had in all sorts of interconnected media is essentially taking the piss on everyone who doesn't see Inferno or Shockwave as a flat-colored figure with plain undetailed limbs and excessively long legs, which is probably bound to be everyone who isn't conditioned by nostalgia. Sadly enough, it seems like the vocal minority is winning here.
>>
>>6483864
>I have nostalgia for Beast Wars but hate G1

Cool opinion, bro
>>
>>6483864
Honestly? I don't have any memories of the G1 cartoon; it ended a few years before I was even born. And I really like the current MP direction, precisely because of that animation lunacy. The kind of engineering needed to pull those designs off has resulted in some really insane stuff, and a big appeal for me in the line lately is going "alright, how are they going to handle this next dude?"

I think taking influence from all eras is well and good, but I don't think there's anything wrong with being ridiculously slavish. If I wanted the G1 toy of Megatron, I'd get the G1 toy. If I wanted a revised or updated version, I'd get Classics Megatron, or any of its variants over the years. A ridiculously slavish, totally cartoon-accurate Megatron is something that's never really been... and now it is.

As for the point on Beast Wars or the comics... well, those are both flat-out factually untrue. The comics and the cartoon used nearly identical model sheets; there were differences in coloring but that's because it was an 80s comic book (or occasionally, like Megatron, the cartoon model sheet got tweaked a bit). Meanwhile, the Beast Wars show models were based on the toys, just as much as the G1 'toon models were based on the toys.
>>
>>6483873
Nay, I have literally no nostalgia for Beast Wars since I didn't grow up with anything TF-related in the first place. The thing is, the CGI models actually function like strict and consistent designs that weren't held down by having to be quickly redrawn by hand from cell to cell, hence why they're detailed enough to serve as a primary source for all possible interpretations of Beast Wars characters.
>>
>>6483883
>the Beast Wars show models were based on the toys, just as much as the G1 'toon models were based on the toys.
Isn't this only true for the first wave though, and not even for most characters?
>>
>>6483889
Pretty much the entire original cast were toys first and characters second. The later characters, like the Transmetals or Fuzors, were straight-up just the toys turned into character models.

It's why Transmetal Primal has that crazy weapon pack thing. The animators were futzing around with a prototype of the toy, realized they could move the jetpack parts to his front with a bit of mistransforming, and decided to roll with it. It's also why so many of the Transmetal characters have built-in or strange-looking guns, because most of the Transmetal toys only came with melee weapons. They basically looked at those green spots on Tarantulas's shoulders and went "I guess those could be missile launchers?"

As for it being "not even for most of them"... well, if nothing else, Rhinox, Rattrap, Waspinator, Tarantulas, and Dinobot definitely had toys first, and those are just the ones I can definitively say. The only exception is Blackarachnia, whose show model, obviously, isn't based on anything.

I don't get what was so fucking hard about making an MP Megatron. DX9 did one with full articulation and a good-looking gun mode without a mind-boggingly hard transformation. Also, silver paint.
Was it really having to stick to the cartoon model? Seeing things like that make me believe a MP Megatron that is not MP-36 is possible.

How to make a good MP Megatron:

Step 1: Take despotron's upper body, but make it in more typical g1 proportions rather than dreamwave proportions
Step 2: Take MP36's legs
Step 3: glue them together or someshit I don't fucking know
Step 4: Paint it silver instead of sunk-cost "I swear it's better in person" grey

Done, Megatron better than anything else on the market.

Since it seems that everyone hates how Megatrons turn out, is there a better example of how to do a realistic gun altmode guy?

I don't hate how Megatron turned out.

Ravage, too, because he didn't have a toy, but that was because his show model is just Cheetor with a different head and hands. And Transmutate, obviously. Blackarachnia seems to have been a case where they got excited to do a female character, took one look at the toy, threw it out, and made up their own.

Not to mention homages in general were pretty rare. Primal and Megatron are the only real ones, and it's more implied than anything. There was a strong belief that they had to break away from the old stuff, because G2 had been about 60% G1 repaints and that flopped.

For as much as people shit on it for not being in scale with Rhinox because it's a deluxe instead of a fuckhuge leader or something, I seriously find T30 Tankor to be pretty underrated/a hidden gem. For a deluxe he's got pretty damn good articulation and poses really well. I guess all the apparent QC issues he had kind of spoiled him for everyone though.

I should think about getting the LG version some day. The colors are a little nicer and you can still find him on some websites at MSRP (I guess the nips hated him too).

So i got a few transformers to decide - will a become a tf-fan or not. And seems like i will.
(im that guy who bought Sharkticon Gnaw and went full titan masters..i had mostly beast machines before that)

I love how titan masters look. Dont care about gimmick and mostly like it for blocky robot mode design with G1 aestetics.
PS:
However both - Seargant Kup and Scourge have problems with loose joints. Scourge head is wobbly, but i noticed that all people have it like that.
But mine also has his heels very loose so they might "slide down" when you holding figure in your hands.
>>

Also it kind of feels like Scourge is overal cheaper than Kup by plastic.
Idk why. But Kup feels sturdy and having more details and good quality while Scourge is all wobbly hollow and very thin by plastic.

It has neat places to hold both of his weapons.

And the most of all - the plastic, paint aps and quality feel way better than TM. Its a good shiny toy.
To be honest...i kind of like Barricade more than others even if bayformers were the part of why i completely ignored transformers for years.
PS:
So at this moment i like Barricade and Gnaw. Want to get Fortress Maximus and waiting for that line with Dinobots.

Open question directed to those who buy mp's/3p's but anyone else may answer.

Do we all have faith in getting what we want eventually from the line(s) or do we end up dipping into the hell that is has-tak generations/legends toy lines?

I need to cut down on spending but refuse to quit the hobby, but so far my all time favs have been in legends/generations.

Furthermore, who else from g1 is due for mp, we all want jazz, hound is due because 3p's have been killing it with him, diaclone repaints up the wazzoo, who else?

Lets exclude the "newer" g1 cast ie kup arcee because there are alot of characters and all I'd want is a galvatron

Invest in some future shine. Won't harm any toy, and can help with almost any loose joint issue. One bottle will last forever, too. Also Scouge's head wobble comes from the fact his port for the TM is raised a bit. Dunno WHY they did that for him and Highbrow, because it makes the head wobble when you move him. It can be dealt with via blocking off the front/back of the connector somehow, so the head of the TM can't tilt inside of the port. Dunno how you'd block it off though, IIRC some Anon's used a credit card or something? Not sure.
>>
>>6484344
For scourge I cut up the blister pack he was in, folded it once, made it so it fits level with the top of the connectors, works a treat, the second one I bought required one on both sides, to adjust tightness just keep folding until it works, works best when its all one folded bit.

For my third I didn't need to do anything because the legends version was fine same for highbrow (though the head height was still unnecessarily high mine doesn't bobble).

Yes, I wanted a scourge army, and with the platinum deluxes I thought might as well go full retard

Same, for the most part I feel like I have all the major characters I ever wanted, so filling out each army with cannon fodder and z-listers has been my main goal over the past couple years. The PCC cores are good for that purpose, Smolder and Crankcase particularly. Cybertron Hardtop is an old favorite too, I don't know if he does anything in any fiction or not but I love him as a random sniper grunt, and the colorscheme feels older than it is to me.
I think the brown one is the repaint? Not sure which came first, but the green/purple is best.

>>

It's mostly that the tail will break. Most people who continue to fiddle with it eventually experience a breakage. You apparently have to glue a small piece to prevent it, but I'm still trying to figure out how to open it.

>>6484567

Yeah you want to keep it on the joint, so it hopefully coats both the ball and the inner bit the ball rubs against the make friction. You generally don't want to dissemble what you're putting it on.

It's really annoying, I just did it so I'll tell you that I took out six screws all on the right side of the body (one is under the part that moves the faux Trypticon head, you can't see it normally since you need to move it the opposite way than it's meant to) then I just pryed the tail apart far enough to remove it from the main body (you don't need to take out any screws from the transparent part) then you will see a small circular part with a + on one side that you can push out which you then glue/meld to the + shaped part that connects the tail to the body. I just did it and I'm waiting for my Plastic meld to solidify the two parts together, I'm sorry if this isn't useful, I'm not good at explaining things.
