The only issue I think I have with the LG Ultra Magnus upgrade kit is that the blue forearms kind of screw with the vehicle mode's colors. Not really an issue I suppose unless you're in the minority that likes leaving TFs in vehicle mode.

It's really gonna be a while before I get over how much of a disaster this release was.

Next time they release MP Murderprime I really hope the undersides of his feet are somewhere on the gigantic list of problems to fix with this mold. I've barely had this guy in robot mode and paint on the grill (especially the autobot logo) is already rubbing off.

I'm patiently (not really) waiting to get me the takara version, if I'm lucky he might be better.

What I don't understand is why keep the truck grill as the feet, ok its a big surface area to hide, why not engineer it so they recess into the foot area so the grill isn't directly touching the floor, coulda had that shit chromed but no that wouldn't last 5 seconds.

The rotf leader I can tolerate for doing that, for the mp there is no excuse
>>

>>

We barely just got voyagers wave 5 here but what we already know thanks to previous events is overlord is the last leader wave, blitz and octone are final voyager wave, seaspray and cosmos final legends wave, anything else is a revision wave just to tide us over until POTP starts.

As for blastoff it'll be toy accurate which surely wouldn't be too hard but after hasbro tr scourge I have little hopes hasbro would get that right, I honestly don't mind his UW colors because its a close enough approximation, if he was an mp then I'd be butthurt.

What bugs me is so far hasbro has shared with each takara mold in some form, why no blastoff/strafe variant yet?
>>
>>6480912
>micromasters when

I believe legions have replaced those, and for generations lines its the little mini figs like titan masters and "prime/decoy suit" dudes from potp.

If they really wanted to though, they could reissue the classic micromasters but in blind bags and charge $10 each, sounds too much right, people will eat up nostalgia and accept the higher quality of them over the current legions.

I honestly think micromasters have been absorbed into other lines these days, even their vehicles and base sets have too with the tr leader base modes, I just hope they bring those back in future lines

Goddamnit guys, just think about the fact that there was a toyline combining two of the most lucrative mass media franchises on earth running for an entire half decade and yet, the average casual Transformers or Star Wars fan has probably never heard of it. This could have truly been one of the greatest examples of a crossover series but somehow the designers managed to completely fuck up something as simple as transformable spaceships mostly shaped around rectangles and triangles, as if it was some form of Herculean task after having done numerous airplanes and beasts and combiners and all other sorts of complex shit. The concept for this line was excellent, some of the alt modes even looked like proper Revell-sized Star Wars vehicles, but my god, other than a few rare exceptions (like Cody and the Jedi Starfighters, for instance) the actual engineering and robot aesthetics were a fucking disaster.

How could they fuck up so bad, /tfg/? Will Hasbro ever attempt something like this again? Because if something, now is the best time to actually resurrect SW-TF.
>>
>>6481307
I always assumed they outsourced the design process to someone who'd suffered brain damage, they seem more like knockoffs than the real deal, despite being official.
I have the clone trooper tank, tank mode is pretty alright, better than Mace Dindu/fighter for sure.

>How could they fuck up so bad

They were designed purely by Hasbro's team for one, those guys that made that shitty Energon Grimlock/Swoop and the Titanium series. What's worse about SW:TF was that they were trying to do much
>Vehicle mode based on certain existing design
>Robot mode based on character from fiction
>Little pilot figure that fits in both modes

The better ones are mostly those that don't try to force these 3 gimmicks, like the Clone Troopers ones that they could play around with the robot silhouette and the later basic-sized ones. The Marvel ones are also pretty decent because they only need to look like their namesakes in robot mode.

But... why?
>>
>>6481295
It's not fact. It was intentionally spelled as face. Learn to read and comprehend English.
>>
>>6481307
>>6481317

IIRC, at least some people behind the Star Wars TFs in particular were previously involved in making SW vehicles, with no prior experience with TFs, which contributed to the alt modes being generally spot-on but the robot modes being, well, crap.

There's a reason the design process of mainline TFs are so collaborative.

I feel like Artfire is more prone to shelfwarming than MP-40. MP-40 is Hot Rod, one of the most popular characters, featured prominently in the movie, cartoons and comics. Artfire was a toy released 30 years ago, only in Japan. This collector-base in influenced far more by what's popular in the media than anything else.

>You could explain it by saying that the humanoid inside is wearing a bigger suit.

True that, honestly I don't mind them being different sizes, I was just trying to explain why one would expect them to be the same. It'd be pretty lame if the targetmaster were the same size as the headmaster, you either end up with too small a gun or too big a head (like in g1). Same thing here, hopefully we get the main ones in a few years or so. They'll have to head into G2 territory sooner or later and the Turbomasters are practically "transitional" toys for the era.

Just paint it. Or buy another. Overboard is one of the guys that sticks on shelves. Plus he's also been reissued in other TM waves to boot. Most stores can't get rid of him. Damn shame too, his face sculpt is marvelous and his TM gun/vehicle is one of the better ones.

Without the C-to-Z lister all we're ever going to see are the early batch of characters from the G1 cartoon. I mean sure, we get an Optimus and a Megatron each toyline but I'd be happy to see more late G1 and G2 characters get new toys rather than yet another Bumblebee.

I really want one of the Masterpiece Tracks mold toys, but I also know there are a lot of problems with them.

What does /toy/ recommend? KOs are certainly contenders too if the quality is satisfactory.
>>
>>6482091
As nice as those look, they can fuck right off with that pricing. You can't even use the fucking paint excuse with these fuckers.
>>
>>6482084
I would too but right now IDW and classic G1 pandering is all the rage. We're already lucky to get a new Optimus Primal/Optimal Optimus.
>>
>>6481954
Hasbro clearly wants us to buy at least two to make up for the original Rodimus Prime figure.

Here's hoping the new one doesn't suck.
>>
>>6482120
I mean, buy a TR Hot Rod AND a Rodimus? Sure that I would have had I found Hot Rod in store (and might still if I ever do find him collecting dust in a shitty shop) but I'm just not super keen on buying his repaint. Truth is, I would not mind buying multiple PotP Leaders but at least one of each mold. Rodimus and Primal I plan to get...maybe Optimus if he's not too bad, as my only Optimus figure is the War for Cybertron one. I don't even have a semi-proper G1 Optimus since I started collecting around the tail end of CW. Anything else I got in my collection is from my childhood, which is to say Beast Wars.

That's one reason I've been eager for some of the late G1 characters in TR and PotP: these were my first vehicle transformers, usually bought in some shitty store as a kid or as a KO in an even shittier store. I,ve got some fond memories of these 'z-lister' as people call them.
>>
>>6482117

The only thing the KO changes are rubber tires.
>>

Sure, the headsculpt is an improvement, but the chest? It's literally just a fucking square, the old one at the very least had some form of anthropomorphic shape to it. Plus, the limbs look pathetically disporportionate in comparison.

>wouldn't it just be easier to downscale the original one instead of making a shittier one?

The original one has a fuck ton of tolerance and design issues that would become even worse if they just downscaled it.

Sadly this, I have the Hasbro version and he can hardly bend his elbows by this point after barely half a decade of display, his arms just sort of flop to his sides. Sure, he does look better than the new one, but he's also flimsy to an abysmal level.
>>
I thought Masterpiece was the line of perfect toys for people who were willing to spend a little more. But the more I read into it, the more it seems like just the same shit with the standard line with tolerance issues, loose joints, scratchable paint, badly designed backpacks, etc etc.

About the only thing it seems to have over regular toys is more articulation and more cartoon accuracy (which I'm not autistic enough to care about).
>>
>>6482186
Was there a Whirl head swap of this mold? The t30 is kinda crap.
>>
>>6482306
To add, even the "more articulation" thing is questionable. So many toys have only 90 degrees or even less elbow bend, when there are plenty of regular toys with double-jointed elbows that allow for a full bend.

The MP line is basically complexity+better matching of the characters. QC can be a real shitshow at times, and some molds are just trash (see: any of the Seeker molds). Usually they're solid on the whole though. The only real fuckups in the past few MP's I know of are

Hotrod: Chrome can be kinda shitty. But it's chrome. It's gonna end up shitty no matter what. Otherwise haven't heard of any flaws.

Primal: Can possibly scratch his 'botmode faceplate if you don't transform him juuuuust right, he has basically super tight clearance. Otherwise no flaws.

Cheetor: Too tight joints in some cases, leading to breakages. Not too widespread, but be careful if it feels too tight.

Megatron: Paint issues galore. Transforming him basically is a 100% chance to scratch him, and his silencer attachment is a 50/50 chance of breaking him because it's just way too tight. Pretty much the poster boy for not dousing an entire figure in paint.

Ironhide & Ratchet: Paint chipping issues, though apparently not really too widespread, but once again the issue arises from dousing the whole fucking thing in paint.

Inferno and Grapple: Haven't heard of any real issues other than Grapple's crane being hard to move, probably due to, you guessed it, paint fucking with the tolerances because they doused it all in paint.

...You know, the more I type this, the more it feels like the real issue in the MP line currently is the obsession with painting a figure like it's a glazed donut.
>>

I want a BB8 that transforms into a Rey :3
>>
>>6482319
>Phasma that turns into a garbage masher
>>
>>6482306
Pretty much seems that way, yeah. The only MP I have though is MP-28. I haven't been able to decide which figure to get next. I like Hot Rod a lot, but the transformation isn't that fun or interesting and the backpack is kind of underwhelming. Still a cool toy, though.

My issue with getting more MPs is really just the price. Paying $40+ for a cool toy isn't at all an offensive idea to me, but once we get up to $70+ it's harder for me to part with my money and it becomes harder to overlook the problems they share with the standard line you mention.

I might get MP Prowl next, or one of his moldmates. That one seems solid. I expect more cartoon-styled MPs to follow, though.

That's actually just due to the crane arm being held up by a hard ratchet that's just retardedly strong for what it needs to do. I ended up taking my grapple apart to remove the ratchet joint and it's much better now.
>>
>>6482345
The hips on hip are just tight in general. You can't disassemble them fully because lol lets glue everything, but if you can just crack open the crotch a little bit to drizzle lubricant inside of him, it helps a ton.
>>
Does Jazz have any good 3P figures or am I better off waiting for Takara's inevitable MP take?
