Generation Toy's Devy is the current go-to one. Assuming you have around $600 to blow, anyway.

...Yeah, 3P combiners are...Not the best thing for people just getting into 3P stuff. The price tags are outrageous for a full set and any of the "cheap" ones are only cheap because they're absolutely shit and stores literally can't get rid of them.
>>
>>6415163
>>6415242
If $600 is too much to swallow, there is a GT KO currently being produced. Only 2 limbs are currently out, with 1 more supposedly due out at the end of the month. I was sadly eBay China scammed for this one, but it has me contemplating completing the set.

Aren't he and the smaller DJD guys getting reprints around now-ish? They went up to like 90+ though, so you wouldn't really even be saving that much getting a new one, if that $100 is shipped you might as well.

And I probably say this every time he comes up, but he's easily my favorite transformer, and maybe my favorite toy in general? Get it.
>>
>>6415322
Eh, if he is getting reprinted, I'd rather wait for restock then, rather than pay 100 for fig and another 15 for shipping

He's the best we're going to get at the scale. Sculpt is great, articulation is great. Accessories are great though he lacks a weapon which is fine given the source material. There was some reports of thin, sloppy paint and some funky tolerances on the joints you might have to tighten or loosen. Mine is mostly fine, though the sliding arm panels were way too tight the first transformation and lining up the legs for alt mode can be a bitch.

Generally his calling card are parallel line detailing and excessive ridge detailing that covers huge swathes of area on a figure. Usually odd proportions in the arms and legs accompany the greeble and his own spin has been added to a design to the detriment of the figure. Reused joints and hand sculpting typically accompanies designs he has worked on. MMCs reformatted line has the most sark designed stuff, but KFC has used him on occasion. Generally Mmc has someone go over the designs first and revise a bunch of shit, but the gist is still there. Some designs come out OK like the road buster impactor, and carnifex molds, others are disasters like hexitron and lock down. You can see the difference between the Mmc djd and mmc sark designed items.

Someone post the original carnifex and feral Rex renders before Mmc changed them. I know full body shot exists for overlord but Rex just had teasers.

Rearend, Hurricane upgrade, Knight Morpher Screecher and one of the Azalea bots.

I'm really amazed that the Azalea girl morphs down to the same size as Tailgate's altmode. And Tailgate has ended up being the first 3p to draw blood on me, those edges on his thighs are pretty sharp.

Cyclonus can't hold his sword though, his hands are just a hair too small, I need to find something to just sand off a tiny bit of plastic in there.

Picked up the Rearend set as well for Tailgate this week. Your thoughts on him? Should arrive sometime this week hopefully.
>>
>>6416876
Whiny bitch here. The things I had that were problematic that seem not 100% are; panels popping out willy-nilly, too-thick sword-tab, unpainted toe-strap, clunky transformation, sheathe/backpack not being secure, and finger poppage. Universal issues are KFC-like hands, hip-skirt grinding, and the sheer number of moving parts when it comes to getting him into any pose, including shitty shinguards that rotate and need resetting with any motion. If you have Master Made TItan, it's like his shins but literally ten times worse, with a crappy peg that needs to seat in to keep it from wobbling around (until it pops out next thing).

I like him, he's very expressive, with his double jointed neck. So he can look AAAAAALL the way up (as part of his transformation) A lot of joints are really stiff, like everything that isn't a ball joint, and as I said, by careful when you transform him, some of his edges are sharp as hell. If you wanted a tailgate to be an adorable little ball of adorableness, you'll be really happy. He's got good poseability, especially in his double jointed legs, arms aren't though. Shoulders have a nice hinge I didn't know about to really get him out to a T-pose though.
>>
Thinking of picking up Fans-Hobby's trio of monster bots. I know that Flypro is going out for review samples right about now, but anyone want to weigh in on at least the other two?

I have Not-Repugnus. Got Not-Doublecross sitting in a loot pile. Put simply, Repugnus is a great bot. Everything on mine was solid...Except for one thing. He had a problem on his left shoulder that loosened the ratchet. I contacted FH, and they sent me an entirely new shoulder assembly and showed me how to swap it out. It's now perfect as far as I can tell.

The ratchets are solid, no looseness or other issues. Only downside other than the issue I mentioned on my copy of the figure, is that he's light on accessories. You get a rifle, no way to store it on the figure, and thats it.

Typical MT overengineering shit. The chest sliding mechanism is fucking awful and nearly impossible to get back on if it comes off and the spring on my helipad broke. Why it even uses a spring in the first place instead of just being a simple flipping panel I will never know.

Would have been great if we got anything similar to the poll pictures we were given to judge who would win :^)
But no, instead we had to get a faithful adaptation of the original toy/animation model.

I was excited for Scorponok, but now that I know it's going to look like his dumpy G1 toy, or his dumpier (somehow?) animation model, my hopes and dreams lie solely on Perfect Effect getting off their ass and making that Scorponok they teased years back.

>MFW still collecting the IDW books
>haven't hit the current decline yet
>even the parts people said were bad were just pretty average compared to most comics

Man, if Chaos is considered the lowest point yet, and the current stuff is only near Chaos, I'm beginning to think people just have too high standards for what to expect in a comic.

And speaking of the comic, why is MMC just about the only company giving us IDW-ized versions? Theres a ton of nice designs in IDW but MMC is pretty slow and almost no one else seems to want to try to do those designs.
>>
>>6419903
MMC and Maketoy's Manga collection seem to be what is what for comic fans.

I just can't keep my hands off Maketoy's Tailgate. It's just too damn cute.
>>
>>6419914
>Maketoy's Manga collection

Too bad that line is dead. They started off with some absolutely shit decisions that made me not buy any of it.

>want Tailgate
>lol nope, can't buy him alone, have to buy him with these garbage addon bits for Cyclonus that I don't own and don't care about
>want Swerve
>nope, can't buy him alone, have to buy him with this other wanker I've never cared about

It's Figma Slann and Void all over again. Shit I don't want packaged with something I do, and the price raised up high to account for it, resulting in me buying nothing. Sorry companies, you're not getting my dollar by forcing unwanted crap on me.
>>
>>6419920
>Not wanting or caring about Cyclonus.

what.
>>
>>6419924

Why would I want addon bits to a Cyclonus I don't own, that isn't in a similar style to begin with?

Even if you did own it, it's still not in the same general style, so it won't look right anyway.
>>
>>6419924
Not everyone owns a Cyclonus from a specific set from almost 10 years ago that the upgrade kit is for anon
And no one with a sane mind is going to pay $50+ for a deluxe just to use the upgrade kit
>>
>>6419931
>>6419940
Both of these.
I just want a mtmte style Cyclonus, and not a kit of MMC's garbage what ever the hell they were thinking version.
>>
>>6419903
>Chaos
Man, that was the worst. D-void? how the fuck did that become the finalised name for that stupid thing, argh.
>>
>>6419974

I mean, I can totally get behind universe threatening Cthulhu monster, and someone going bugfuck crazy trying to stop it. Shit, Galvatron is known for being absolutely fucking mental, it was his entire schtick in G1. But yeah, I do think the entire arc would've been taken a bit better if they didn't name the cthonic entity fucking D-void. Sounds like something some fuckin' goth shithead came up with for their Vampire: The Masquerade game.

Speaking of Galvatron, I'd like Fantoys version...If it wasn't stuffed full of diecast. Any chance of them releasing a based, superior, plastic version? Not joking or trolling here, I just don't like diecast.

Why is KFC Blitzwing such a goddamn shitfest? He could be an awesome figure, both his alt modes are better than the DX9 version and he comes with some great accessories but the shitty QC and dozen or so toy ruining design flaws just make him into a piece of crap. Really pisses me off, so much potential and just terrible followup.

no niggers, I dont dump $150 into stuff I can't guarantee is going to be good. Supposedly KFC has had some good stuff recently, I'm just pissed at the wasted potential at what could've been the best Blitzwing on the market by far being wasted thanks to KFC shitting the bed on the most basic stuff with the QC and design flaws the everyone who received a prototype told them to fix. Blitzwing is my favorite character and getting the TR version of him kind of upped my longing for a proper masterpiece figure.
>>
>>6419903
Are there any extremely large compendiums of the IDW comics? The only ones I can find are the $40 a piece collections of which there are 8 or so.

Is there anywhere I can just read them online?
>>
>>6419483

Thanks... thing is, I am still tempted, but everytime I wonder, my wallet just bursts out laughing.
>>
>>6420029
There's a torrent batch in chronological order
/co/ has a MEGA library with everything
Or you could go to a site like readcomiconline with adblock or something
Plenty of options
>>
>>6420029

Those compendiums are actually what I'm collecting, and you can usually find'em for around $30 on Amazon.

/co/ has mega's with everything, and occasionally storytimes chunks of it. I want to support the comic though, so I've been buying the volumes. And theres a lot more than 8 of'em. Theres 8 of phase 1, and like 5 or 6 of phase 2 currently.
>>
>>6420056
Can you give me a rundown? What should I and shouldn't I read? Read in release order or chronological? Is there a point where it becomes shit and I should stop reading? How long is the whole series? I've read The Walking Dead comics in their entirety but thats it so I don't have a real sense of scale.
>>
>>6420066
Personally I'd skip the Autocracy stories, they're terrible.
>>
>>6420066
>Can you give me a rundown?

If you buy the volumes, they're roughly in chronological order. The /co/ mega is in autistically chronological order. Either way you'll get the story. Just remember it wasn't released in chronological order, it had to be put in that order.

>What should I and shouldn't I read? Is there a point where it becomes shit and I should stop reading?

Read it all. The lows aren't any lower than any other comic out there, and the highs aren't any higher. Overall the series has been good. The lowest agreed upon point is the Chaos storyline, which is just...Kind of there. Main villain was extremely poorly named, as said above.

All Hail Megatron is a distinct point where the continuity gets a bit weird, because it doesn't account for some stuff that happened before it, but it was essentially a launch point for everything after it. It's probably the most major event in the comics, because even today it's still being referenced and it's the reason why Earth is a bunch of a shitbags (rightfully so though).

>How long is the whole series?

It's pretty long, and still ongoing. Currently though some of it has left a bad taste in peoples mouths because the ending to Season 2 of Lost Light was so incomprehensibly botched that it's the next lowest point in the entire series next to Chaos. It's so low people think MMC's DJD might not get completed because it left such a bad taste in everyone's mouth.
>>
>>6420073
Can anyone link me the Mega or do I need to go dredge through /co/?

Price might be a bit steep on Rearend/Hurricane set but you're really paying for the character.

He's adorable and highly poseable for something so tiny.

If Roberts fucks us out of not only a good ending to Dying of Light but also toys of all the DJD I will be bitter for YEARS. Seriously fuck him for how he ended that.
>>
>>6420163

Well, MMC did show off the next guy's renders after that ending, and they're probably doing a Tarn upgrade kit too. So they're likely to finish them all, I'd hope.
>>
>>6420066
You should read all of it really. You might just find a character and go "wtf? I like this bot now!"
I recently started IDW in chronological order myself and haven't found anything that bad(yet)
Just finished the issue where Bee tells Ultra Magnus to fuck off with his detective shit

the other guys weren't really featured as much as Tark, Vos and Kaon, so it's not really that hard to imagine them not getting figures or not being popular enough for it.

You guys may surely know about this, but Maketoys have a sale.
http://maketoys.jp/shop/product-category/half-decade-deals/
At last, Despotron, the 3P Megatron I always wanted, is at a reasonable price at 99$US. The 16$US flat rate shipping is awesome too. But furthermore, there is some hidden sales when you select the shipping option. For 20$US more, you can either get their tiny not-Seaspray and Powerglide.
But if you chose just the flat 16$ of shipping, another hidden deal pop out at the very end of checkout.

Add 20$US and you get the Citybot Armageddon set, without box. That's 100$ off! I love my YOTS Omega Supreme but I noped at the price of that kit years ago. But for 20 bucks, sign me up!

Anyone here who have either Despotron or the Citybot Armageddon set already?

I got all three of the MMC DJD guys literally the same week I finally caught up on the ending of that storyline, hell, kaon and vos were even in the mail as I read the ending. From all the shit I heard about it I was gearing up for like $300 of buyers remorse, but I donno, I was cool with it and I still like the figures. The group of fanatical murders turned out to be nuts, megatron wrecked house, aside from overlord showing up I had no real beef.

And I think it came up last thread, but washingmachine-o-tron and easy bake ovcon are unlikely for their own reasons.

MMC's already shown 3D designs for Washingmachine-kun. He's happening if they've gotten as far as that, I'd think.
>>
>>6420252
I don't know, man. It's one thing to pay a guy a couple hundred bucks or whatever to design an early stage 3d model, but it's another to actually go into production, refinement, and cutting molds for it.
>>
>>6420176

Has there been any confirmation of a Tarn upgrade kit? Seriously just a new face/head and a modified mount for the guns is all they need to do.
>>
>>6420221

Dying of the light will probably be better received in the future. I think the anticipation was just too high.

Fuck Roberts for killing Ravage solely to motivate Megatron though. Ravage got fucking fridged.

I still buy the book, because it doesn't ruin it. But I am most definitely still bitter.
>>
>>6420261

Smaller runs like Vos and Kaon maybe? They are pretty niche. No idea how many they'd need to sell to turn a profit though.
>>
>>6420261

Most 3P's make a living off selling literal who's though, and they'd probably piss off even more people by not finishing off the DJD.

>>6420265

No confirmation, but it's a pretty highly requested thing and they made all sorts of other addon kits already for other figures. I couldn't see them not doing it.

Probably around $100. Maybe $120. Normal retail for the mold is $90.

I liked the look of the mold though I didn't care for their Trailbreaker or hoist since they were so bland. But this thing is calling me. The yellow makes it pop and the extra bits on the vehicle hiding away makes it work. I hope PSX has a few of them after the con.
