>Everything, including the inner shin panels peg into something. The only areas that don't peg in are the treads on the calf and the front forearm panels. These are the only loose things on mine.

>The joints are great, though some of them are way too tight. The leg ratchets and the telescoping elbow are a little too tight. I'm afraid of breaking the plastic when moving them...

>One more thing that I don't get is the sliding transformation joint in the thigh. It moves it ever so slightly and I see no point in sliding it back and forth as it's literally unnoticble in robot mode...

>Otherwise, a nice chunky figure with amazing poseability, an imposing bot mode and a solid alt mode.

It's a nice if not overpriced action figure but it's one of the worst Transformers Takara has ever released. Why they didn't steal despotron's engineering is beyond me.

There were multiple versions of the original MP Megatron mold and a new 2.0 came out recently. If you're going to be a takaracuck at least pretend to know what you're talking about.

Hey, got my Suzie today, and he's a mixed bag. I don't know what that person last thread was on about with loose panels and popping off. I had one of the orange shoulder panels fall of my first time transforming it, but it's not Spinout levels of loose. Still, I can understand some frustrations with the transformation, espetially with the arms and the small accordion panels.

I'm still fiddling with it, but I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.
>>

>>

Because the only figures that exist are redun or higher budget reimaginings of redun. No one has tried a true g1 bludgeon yet. I don't know if anyone wants one desu. How you modernize pretenders?

Well shit, scratch that. Apparently this guy's panels will fall even if they're screwed in! His orange shin panels aren't anywhere in the box. It doesn't even look like he had the holes drilled. How the fuck do you overlook this?

Such a shame because their Devastator and Metroplex upgrades were so nice. I don't know what happened here.

The Chosen Prime. I'm looking into their replacement policy. I've heard good things, so I'm not too worried.

I'm actually thinking of just requesting a refund. I'm one of those anti-diecast people, and looking at this guy is a strong reminder of why. This paint work on his roght foot is a joke.
>>
>>6407185

I've ordered from the same place and presumably from the same batch. So I'll see if he's as shit as yours.

Aso be warned that this guy has a back panel made of diecast and it's so tight that the plastic panel on it's end rubs on it. This is a problem since the pin has a tapered area that's grinding the plastic down in the center of pic related. That thing will be looser than Xovergen's God Armor in a few transformations.

Fucks sake, they delayed this thing by two and a half months and they still fucked it!

Redun or not, it looks like Grim Fandango. The only one that even looks like Bludgeon was the Headrobots kit for RotF Bludgeon and that was his IDW head.
>>
>>6407208
It's the best one of the bunch, but not quite perfect and on a so-so deluxe. I'm still getting one if it ever shows up locally. I'll probably paint over the outer jaw line to give him a more exaggerated skull look.

The ROTF only needed more paint. It was fine for a skull made out of machinery and armor plates but YMMV.

Use the altmode of the G1 figure's inner robot for the altmode and the pretender shell for the robot mode if possible.

Hmm, you made me want to attempt my own ideal Bludgeon head. I admit,t hough, I'm not satisfied with it, as I can never figure just how literal I want the skull and samurai helmet to look. I never liked the replacement skull for the ROTF figure, looked too soft and almost cute. I want it to look like a metal skull, but not a Terminator. But I also like some of the more abstract designs, that don't go for a literal skull.
>>

That's good. I'd try more human, flatter teeth for the skeleton look though.

>officialpleb
That's pretty funny since I own more 3P than official TF but unlike you, it doesn't prevent me from being objective and admitting that MP-36 is the only Megatron that looks like a Masterpiece Megatron.
>>
>>6408157
Being expensive is sure as hell a downside when it's also a fragile piece of shit. More money on an item doesn't make it good. It's objectively poorly made as evidenced by it's many fragility issues and flaking paint problems. Every other MP megatron attempt doesn't have these issues, even old apollyon with his shit hands and breakages aren't this bad.

Guy from last thread just now showing up (because fuckface OP forgot to put "New thread" link in old one).

Sorry to hear you're having issues as well, but slightly relieved to see I'm not alone. I also ordered from TCP and am putting in a request to return - he's not satisfying to pose, almost impossible for me to transform 100% cleanly given the misaligned parts (mainly how the forearms are pushed together). The shins thing on yours is 110% unacceptable though, holy fuck, you can't even fix that. My worst thing was (aside from panels falling out) the sword-handle tab being so thick I had to whittle it down for him to hold it.

>Well, ....Welcome to another exciting episode of As the Toyworld Turns. In this episode, things get explained a bit more about everything. So here we go..This is a long read so grab a beer and Popcorn.

>" Qingtianzhu said:
I didn't want to get in on this, but I think I need to...

>Design team leaving wasn't a rumor. They left. Formed Zeta.

>As for TFS-Express, I asked TW about that:
>"TFS-Express has never traded through me." They go through a middleman, so essentially TFS-Express is in line...in another line waiting for parts.

>There is a pattern to TW releases this year if no one has noticed. It's "China first, then everyone else". A smaller run of figures that hit the main land and some lucky international stores, followed by a larger run later. It's a dumb way to do this, and I've told them as much, but hey, not my company. TW Arcee has been out for over a month, has it even hit internationally yet? The upgrade parts were released this way, I know this because I bought a set for the person that got my V1 Constructor. More are being produced with the second run of the boxed set and will be released at the same time (which should be soon if I remember correctly). A lot of the stores that did have issues getting the boxed set were those that got orders in late, last in orders, last in shipment.
>>
>>6409281

>So let's touch on the rumors.

>First let me say there that Chinese 3P companies thrive on drama, it's like high school. (See FansToys v. About Every Other 3P) They are also not fond of direct confrontation, instead it simmers until it explodes, or shows up on social media as "he tell me". And actually, this doesn't just apply to 3P companies, I've had my fair share dealing with it with all sorts of companies in China.

>Every rumor has about a 30-40% semblance of truth to it, they change per every iteration. It's like the telephone game, hell just look at the boards here, one wishful sentence becomes hard fact several pages later. And some bloggers and sources will post anything they hear for page views, genuine concerns, good intentions, "credibility", a feeling of importance, or in some cases just to see the world burn.

>What I'm saying is take everything you hear with a grain of salt, including what I'm about to write here.
>One side says it was owed money and took their designs and left. The other side says all money was paid, but certain individuals wanted more money than they had agreed on, when stock from the warehouse started to disappear and show up on Taobao at a discounted price, those individuals were let go.This happens more often than you think. Now, I'm not saying who is speaking the truth in this scenario, I don't know. A lot of it is the use of word of mouth agreements instead of contracts. Everyone agrees to a price, but when an employee starts noticing what the company makes, they want a bigger slice of the pie, arguments happen and it all goes to shit. Unfortunately, it looks like XT is going through this right now with their mold maker.
>>
>>6409286

>TW is in debt and is dying.Straight from the horse's mouth, TW has said, no we are not in debt. After the split, they took time to find a new team, while also deciding to relaunch the iGear name (so yeah, that rumor was true). There's gonna be a number of repaints in the immediate future, as it's going to take a while to get new designs done. The team is settling into place. I'm aware of some of the upcoming plans, some of it is expected, and some of it is refreshingly different. And since it's all new designers, expect a big style change. Those who enjoy the "old" TW style, will still be able to get it from Zeta. TW's release schedule (of already completed figures) has continued as planned (as dumb as it is.)
The after-sales service is a mess, and they are not handling it well.No arguments here, it's a hot mess. It was made with good intentions, but something something road to hell something. I think they need to scrap it and start again when things have normalized, and for pete's sake hire someone to do it, instead of "whoever has time today", because no one ever has time.
>TW isn't paying a different designer money owed to themI did talk with them about this, their side is that they paid the deposit, but ultimately did not want the final work. And instead of being out right with it (see avoid direct confrontation), it's simmering. They think they will have to pay for a design they will not use, and truth be told, they probably will and should. And this is why contracts need to be used. This is totally on them. I've been through similar, I worked with a Chinese company to produce three series of videos for a website, 36 in all. When it came time for payment, I was told they'd pay for the first 6, see how they go, and then perhaps pay for the rest. This is what I got for not asking for a contract, and trusting.
>>
>>6409293

>TW is BB7 and producing stolen goods.I have nothing on this, but it just seems to me that the idea is dumb. Why would you compete against yourself in the seeker market? I fully expect TW to be the bad guy of every rumor until some other company has a big drama blowout. Well, at least it gives Keith a break.

>The moral of the story here is don't believe the hype. No one is ever going to know the entire story, myself included, besides the parties involved. And don't expect them to make official statements, because more than likely they won't. Take everything with a grain of salt, again, including this novel. There's always a lot more involved than you'll ever know. Try not to apply Western logic to it, or you'll break your brain.

>There's no point in taking a moral stand one way or the other, because we all enjoy IP infringing products. This fandom has it so good, and no one ever takes the time to appreciate it. So many companies making figures, so many choices, look at the poor Joe fanbase, they'd kill to have it half as good as we do. Enjoy the toys you have, buy the toys you want, regardless of company. You like Zeta's Bruticus? Buy it. You like Constructor? Buy it. You like certain FT, KFC, MMC, MT, XT, Bad Cube figures? Buy them. You like improved KOs? ...yada yada.... This is supposed to be fun. Who knows how long it will last, so enjoy it while you've got it.

>That said, my time as middleman between the boards and TW is being greatly reduced (by me). I've got a lot on my plate now. I'm involved in some other companies (on a more official basis...and no), and don't nearly have the time I used to have. That said, I will still help people where I can, get concerns and suggestions to them (when they are ready), and be around to use that blue laughing face that I love so much."

The way floro Dery was treated by the Allspark is extremely unfair. He's a 70 year old man who worked on Transformers for 3 years 30 years ago, of course he's not going to remember every last detail like some autistic nerds who obsess over it.I firmly believe he came up with the transforming concept independently of the Diaclone concept art. They idea of a transforming planet is just inevitable as you consider to one up the scale of past things.
>>
>>6410097
the Allspark is packed full of Clinton-loving jackass liberals that think they're the best thing to happen to the fandom. The owner is a fat fuck that dates underage girls, Walky is a known scammer that should be in jail but he's protected by the fandom and anyone who posts that he did steal money gets banned. The fact Jin loves it is more proof he's a liberal shill that only pretends to be a Trumpet.

Dave van Domelen, one of the lone-time fandom people, has a subforum over there, yet I get the impression he has an unspoken hatred of half those people. He's one of the few toy reviews that's honest, which means he doesn't get free toys from Hasbro. When was the last time you saw Ben "Hasbro gives me gifts" Yee say a bad thing about a toy?

It doesn't much surprise me that a bunch of jackoff manchildren think themselves the most important thing about the franchise. Biggest insult is that they believe any mention of "allspark" in TF fiction is a direct nod to their board even though they stole it from Beast Machines.

TFW may be filled with a rouge gallery of insufferable posters but at least the staff had the foresight to ban any sort of politics outright. The manchildren that make up the fandom already have enough to opinions to excrete and smear on each other as it is. Seeing so many hobby sites become embroiled in completely unrelated politicking and ideological gerrymandering has been tragic.

Probably too early. Obscurity isn't much of a factor to 3P's since half the stuff they push out is obscure as fuck, or from some Japanese show no one ever heard of before the 2000's that was 20+ years old even then. The comics are still doing fairly well according to the /co/ sales topics going around. They're definitely not where they used to be, top 10 all the time, but they're solid enough.

The current problems are probably them just spreading stuff way too thin. TF people generally don't care about GI Joe and MASK and whatever else, so shoving TF characters into that just results in people ignoring titles.

The combined universe was a fucking massive mistake. Have you noticed LL and TAAO have nothing to do with it? And OP basically started in the same place as RID left off. Revolution did pretty much nothing to alter Barber's ongoing storylines.

I think it was more of a mistake to just begin it with crossover after crossover. It created a long period of "Holy fuck just let me read about who I care about". It'd probably have been better recieved by more people if they sprinkled some crossovers over the course of a year or so.

TF was the only successful Hasbro film franchise.

GI Joe- mostly dead franchise that Hasbro barely supports anymore, shitty first script with bad casting, try-hard sequel that wasn't even in theaters very long

Battleship- literally why in the hell was this made? Literally why in the hell was it about aliens and not a WW2 film?

Jem- shitty source material, bad director(made the GI Joe sequel that bombed), unpopular forgotten franchise that no one asked to be revived, couldn't even make back half it's budget and it only cost a measly 5 mil to even make! Could have only failed harder if directed by Uwe Boll(but probably would have been more watchable), certainly would have zero place in the plot of a TF crossover even if there was a massive cinematic universe

Micvronauts- tie-in to TF just to sell it, didn't need to be made, not even a real Hasbro property to start with, only getting done because Tomy never gave a fuck about the Takara brands after they bought out the company(had Takara remained separate I believe they would have never let Bay near the TF films)

Don't forget the Movie had almost nothing to do with the original show anyways. It's literally about a girl rising to stardom through Youtube and having all the family and friends drama that comes with it. The computer that gives her power and alternate identity is only in the last few minutes. She doesn't even fight anyone of her enemies from the show. If Transformers is what happens when a Director does whatever he wants to a fault, then Jem is what happens when committee assumes direct control and forges everything entirely on demographics.

See these guys? They're are based on Hasbro owned characters. That's how Takara can get away with selling them since the characters themselves were originally based on Toys Hasbro licensed from Bandai and sold in America where Bandai didn't. If Takara owned Transformers and sold these figures, they'd get sued out the ass by Bandai for copyright infringement. It's a flaky and confusing situation, but point is Transformers is a Hasbro property that they work jointly with Takara to make.

Would it, however? The original Pretenders - the inner robots - were really simple. I mean frankly they were insulting, especially the second year.

Man, literal who's or unpopular characters but good designs get made all the time in the 3P world. And IF puts out "WHO" characters all the time. Look at Black Shadow, Sixshot, and Overlord. Look at the Dynobots (yeah, the Dinobot's themselves aren't "WHO?"'s themselves, but those designs are certainly nothing ANYONE asked for or wanted when they heard "IF is doing Dinobots!").

Saying 'no' doesn't make it a reality, Anon. Most TF fans have no idea who the fuck those are. If it wasn't featured in the G1 cartoon (ok, Sixshot was, like...Once), or the current movies, it might as well not exist, to most people.

I 100% assure you asking any random TF "fan" on the street (coming out of, say, the movies), would have no idea who the fuck those are, and would probably tell you they look gay.
>>
>>6411933
The people who know third parties exist would know those guys. Sixshot was huge in Headmasters, Overlord was the main villain of Masterforce and then a different version was in the most celebrated IDW story. Only Black Shadow is a literally who of those three.
>>
>>6411939

Theres a lot of cross pollination that happens between the franchise fans man, and a lot that doesn't cross pollinate. Shit from 30+ year old Japanese shows isn't gonna pop up on anyones radar. All the time on /co/ I see people going "I wish X had a figure" without being aware of 3P's and the like, or even being aware "X" got an official figure at some point.

Shit, I knew about 3P's before I knew about Overlord and Blackshadow, because they're obscure as fuck and I wasn't reading the IDW comics because thats yet another niche thing in the franchise.
>>
>>6411898
Yes and the Dynobots sold like shit and people still bitch about them to this day. All the Phase Sixers you mentioned wete brought up again recently in the comic so they were relevant and sold well. Im not trying to be a dick but no one likes Anode and two people who want her because she has an awesome altmode is maybe not the smartest move for IF and I doubt they'll take a chance on her.
>>
>>6411920

...I have no idea what that means.

Overlord was the main villain in Last Stand of the Wreckers and is the only currently still living reoccurring villain in More Than Meets the Eye/Lost Light. Dude's pretty well known amongst anyone in the Tf fandom for more than a year. My cousin who has no interest in Transformers beyond casual curiosity knows who he is.
>>
>>6411933
And I assure to you that those random "fans" don't know/don't give a shit about Turds like we do and those same people aren't who Turds are marketed to, so it doesn't matter if you or they don't know who the fuck Sixshot or Overlord are the majority of people ITT, or on TFW or elsewhere following this shit does

>Look at the Dynobots (yeah, the Dinobot's themselves aren't "WHO?"'s themselves, but those designs are certainly nothing ANYONE asked for or wanted when they heard "IF is doing Dinobots!").

Wasn't the point of IF early on to do cybertronian vehicle modes? With designs inspired by war Within and FoC? I mean, a huge part of kicking off the Legends hype was Metroplex in FoC and that sort of corresponded with the release of Titan class Metroplex, even though that wasn't FoC based. So I'm not sure why people would be surprised we'd get the Dynobots to match with other Pre-Earth characters. I get the dino modes are more popular, though, and it looks like IF is slowly ditching the cybertronian stuff.

I figure a part of that was because they might've expected Hasbro to strike while the iron is hot and do a full Legends line to go with their official Titans, , but they dropped that ball.

FT just tries to do G1. There are subtle stylistic choices though, like they opt to make everything very 'heroic' and 'ideal' in terms of proportions where, for example, Takara might try to copy the potato cartoon for better or for worse.

Their omega is a good example. It's less accurate to the fatter, more box chested DX9 take but (imo) it's better for it. But I'm also generally of the somewhat controversial opinion that a more cohesive, less accurate take on the cartoon designs comes out looking better than the G1 at all costs take.
>>

>>
>>6412998

Lol no
>>
>>6413009
They're "safe" because they're so slavishly G1 but when it comes to MP scale, that's generally what people want. That's not to say there isn't a market for IDW or other aesthetics and even characters outside of G1, especially now that HasTak started doing movie and BW stuff but G1 is still the primary demographic. I'm not quite sure what you meant by "I guess it works" engineering because the point is that we get a pretty accurate alt mode that ends up being a pretty accurate bot mode and isn't that still the most important thing? Sometimes the engineering is fairly simple but that's honestly part of the beauty to them in that they have the ability to keep it simple while still ending up with near perfect representations of the character in both modes.

Take Grindor as an example. It's still the same Grimlock transformation we've all seen doezens of time across various Grimlock figures but that's because it's a transformation that just works for the character and it's extremely iconic. Not to mention they throw in a few clever nuances to it that actually help clean up the robot mode, particularly in the tail-to-legs transformation that we seldom see and after seeing how simple of an idea that is, it's a wonder we haven't really seen it before, especially on the official MP.

It could just be that G1 isn't really your speed and that's fine but still, it's hard to deny that FT has some of the most well-built products across the 3rd party industry, regardless of your feelings for the aesthetic.
>>
>>6413021
Gabriel does a few neat things, like that head being able to flip for the cockpit but overall, Giganticus just still looks better overall. One thing that particularly stands out every time I look at the two together is the track wings. Gabriel's has some sculpted details, sure, but in bot mode, they're still pretty clearly the bottoms of the tracks and you can see it with all of the exposed holes in it that were used in the mold to A. use less plastic, and B. make it easier to release from the mold. It's something all plastic toys have somehwere but FT made it a point to hide that by doing something as simple as having the tracks fold and peg together to avoid showing the underside. It's a small detail but it goes a long way in giving us a more polished-looking product, whereas it gives DX9's a slightly unfinished feel.
>>
>>6413052
The biggest aesthetic bonus points Gabriel has for me is the sharper looking claws and the more pointy knee pads. Everything else just feels worse. The slab like chest and defined abdomen is so much nicer to look at than the brickness of Gabriel.
>>

>>
>>6413163
It's funny to look at designs that people LOVED back when Classics started to become a thing. Toys like Classics Prime or Sideswipe would be fucking hammered now for being too different from a the G1 designs. I mean, fuck, there are plenty of people out there who hate MP-10 now for not being Geewun enough, which is absolutely insane.

I prefer the G1 designs, but I still recognize when they are hot garbage. MP-10 is my ideal aesthetic. G1-styled, but with enough ideas drawn from other sources and original touches to make it look just plain good. The fact that this design philosophy is now vilified is a bit nuts.

>>
>>6413187
Because Transformers source material is shit. It's an ancient cartoon that was written by hacks who didn't give a shit and drawn by Korean slave labor. Shouldn't we strive for something better than that?
>>
>>6413187
To be fair the MP line has branched in about 5 different directions over the years and they don't fit with one another well at all. The originals were in a different scale entirely. Mps after Bumblebee had their aesthetics changed to be as g1 as possible and now you have Ironhide and inferno Stand out next to MP-10 and the shitty seeker mold because of the detailing shift. There are two stabs at movie aesthetic and beast wars branching out as well. It's not unified with itself.
>>
>>6413196
>triggered
>>
>>6413209
Well really, MPs before 10 don't count anymore. That was before they had any kind of plan or direction for the line. Everything from 10 to the early 20s had a generally G1 design with other elements mixed in where applicable. Current stuff is G1 accurate to the cartoon, to a fault. That's really only two different directions.

To say that the Movie MP figures are a different "direction" isn't really true. It's just different source material. Of course it doesn't have the same aesthetic. And really, the Beast Wars figures are definitely aiming at show accuracy just as much as the Autobots and Decepticons are now. That's why MP Primal doesn't have any sculpted hair texture.
>>
>>6413200
You act like the quality of source material has ever meant anything. People want stuff from their fav media. There is nothing wrong with that. You want new takes, there are movie lines, RID, and plenty of third parties based on IDW or totally original designs.

to be entirely fair, it's not the the transformations suck or that the figures themselves look bad. Quite the contrary actually (at least as far s the design and sculpts go at least). The problem is KFC is still using garbage plastic that staps and crumbles just through normal handling and transformation. If they could just get their shit together and start using better plastic, there would be a LOT less to complain about.

I was looking at some random reviews and stumbled on Fansproject's Motormaster. I actually really like what they did here by having the obligatory trailer split in such a way that you get all the combiner kibble in one half, but a complete standalone Motormaster in the other half, only with a short trailer instead of a long one (also this picture doesn't show that you can partsform door panels onto the back to close it up).

Do any other Motormasters do this? I actually found this to be a really clever solution to the "how the fuck do we get Motormaster in scale" problem.

Apparently he can wear basically all his extras in a crazy gundam-esque armored up mode too. I honestly might get him as a standalone; I've always loved Motermaster's look but don't really need another Menasor beyond the CW one.
>>
>>6413715

The best part about it is that you can use the back of the trailer door from the combiner kibble and stick it on MM's backside and he can get away with it like he's hauling a tiny trailer. Diesel is actually and fairly decent robot mode if you fold up the kibble on the back to clean him up. His fatal flaw is that he's a jigsaw puzzle to do anything with.

Transformission/Generation Toy, like how they took cues from Maketoys Giant, did things very similar to FP's MM and is pictured in the thread. Though he splits from the kibble can't really function as a stand alone vehicle.

Though they have gotten better (possibly six or seven this year) realistically a FT stuticon set wouldn't see its first figure til at least four or five years later. I'm honestly expecting constructicon renders this year and hope for prototypes next with the possibility of one or two making it out before years end.

Can anybody fill a newfag in about why Maketoys are desirable? Like why is a Despotron better than buying an actual Megatron?
>>

I think it boils down to what you're looking for. I've heard Despotron is way more playable than the official MP, which is a major factor.

Depends on the specific release. Some of their stuff is amazing, some is meh.

I have Despotron and he's like 95% perfect. And has none of the problems MP36 has.

Their Galaxy Force Starscream looks super good and their version of IDW megs seems good too.

I have depotron and MP 36. Had Takara not played their hand despotron would have been the best MP rep of megs. Both are equally playable though I will say despotrons transformation is more enjoyable.

>really cool transformation
>looks decent in Motormaster mode
>turns into the ugly fucking IDW Menasor, that he only looked like that in ONE issue, but every fucking 3P ever has copied that hideous looking shit from back when Guido Guidi was experimenting with different styles and it was the ugliest fucking style ever and lasted only 2 or 3 months before fan outcry forced him to revert to a much better style

This hurts. I'd be all over this thing if it didn't turn into that ONE ugly fucking Menasor from that one fucking issue. I'm mad as fuck. Why do 3P's keep doing that ONE fucking Menasor design?

Chunky aesthetic that more closely resembles the comic bookey versions of Megs that people have come to enjoy. Isn't made of thousands of folding, easily scratching panels. Doesn't break by just looking at it. And cheaper, a lot fucking cheaper, which is insanity because now official shit is getting to be more expensive than the same-Or higher-quality figures.

It's that face really. It's actually a nice face, but not for Menasor.

Have you ever considered that you just love the taste of shit?

If anyone ever makes 3P Blackout I hope they add a little Lennox to come with. He's one of the three good humans in the movies.
