The toy store cashier asked me if I was looking for any sets in particular, and I told her I was about to order Yellow Submarine, Wonder Woman Warrior Battle, and CCBS Scout Trooper online but that I would rather patronize the store if they could get those in for me. She didn't ask me for a phone number or anything, and I feel like Yellow Submarine might be hard for them to get ahold of. Should I go ahead and get them from shop.lego.com instead?

Reposting: A week or two ago, I proposed doing a Brikwars game here, and I've made some progress on that idea. The setup would be PvE, exploring an abandoned space station or the like. These might be player characters for that.

Is there any interest in something like that, and how do the build/figs look? Sorry for the crap photography.

Any tips on how to feel for the dwarven berserker and highwayman from the new minifigs?

I've got three strongmen and two of those gay faeries so far, and while I like the strongman, one would have been enough.
>>
>>6356950
It's luck really, I tried to feel out as best as I could but when I thought I found a classic space guy it was actually the hot dog guy. The other three I felt up (didn't buy) were most likely rocket boy/corn guy, those are fairly easy to tell from the roung wide piece.

she said she would try. it's a fairly small store with a pretty meager selection of lego (one or MAYBE two sets from a handful of current themes, plus cmf at the counter) and I don't know if they do a lot of in store ordering for people. I guess I'll go in some time next week and follow up.

It's nothing but matter of git gud. For dwarf, find the short legs and confirm with either mohawk or hammer. For highwayman, try to find the hat (triangular piece) and then the guns.

I haven't misfelt anything after S13.

No.

I got every series since series 3 complete by feeling (not to mention the unnumbered series and multiple figures i wanted more than one of) and i made only 3 mistakes ever. It is definitely possible to feel them. The only time it was luck was with the german football team.

>>6356950
Dearf: small legs, mohawk, axe-blade, hammer, axe-handle

Highwayman: hat and pistols

If you have these pieces at home try learning their shapes perfectly before feeling for cmfs.
>>
>>6357038

They're great. I dig your characterization of them as well.

I'm taking a break from Sky Piracy to do pic related. I have the tail on the way, and I wish those grille pieces came in something other than black or light bluish grey. I'm rethinking the blasters-as-navigation lights, so it looks a little less like a reskinned Fearful Face-Off. I may go with a three-bladed main rotor, too.

With any luck I'll find another 2016 Ecto-1 sub-$40 locally, so I can convert it into a hauler for the Ecto-3 here.

>>6356950
Sympathetic, probably. Nobody cares for them as much as the Rocket Boy or Yuppie.

>>6357066 You have to shake the bag to get the pieces to move. Try to isolate them from the baseplate, you can feel one-sided with the insert but not easily. Every character has a Head, Legs, Torso, so ignore those. Feel for large headwear, large accessories. If you feel two heads, one is a cylinder. If you feel two baseplates, it's a hot dog tray. Surfboards are easy to tell. So are baguettes. Hair is more difficult. Try for a radio, or a bunny, or anything that's exclusive to that character and the biggest thing they have.

It's in a schrodinger state right now. We're definitely getting sets for this year, in a couple weeks is the first release, I think. If we get beyond that, who knows. If LEGO follows through with the Big Bang, it will. If it's not getting enough sales for the amount of marketing money they're spending, they'll drop the marketing costs, or drop the line.
>>
>>6357272
Well I grew up in the early 2000s, so the majority of my childhood collection consists of Harry Potter and Castle sets. Aside from the few Ninjago and Galaxy Squad ships I got a few years ago, I don't have many miscellaneous spaceship parts to mess around with, so I gotta catch up. Hoping to get some of those large windows in good condition so I can construct a cool base.

I made the mistake of letting my mom sell off most of my medieval themes after I was done with them. Heresy, I know. (she bought me more klocki with the $$ tho) I still have a bunch of my exo-force mixed together and unsorted that I held on to though. I probably don't have a lot of any specific theme, the majority of my bulk came from a 30gallon trash can at a garage sale. I sorted the figs and animals out, and kinda ignored the rest, so I have no clue what's in there anymore, that was a few years ago.

Lego releases "big bang" themes, where they 'commit' to three years of sets, a cartoon, and marketing. Chima is an example. So is Ninjago, but kids love ninjas so much they kept it going.
Nexo is the newest example.

Garage sales are the bane of every childhood collection. I'm sure there's some stuff I had that I don't even remember cause my mom would sell it off without me realizing.

You should unearth your old stuff though, never know what could be in there. And if it's stored well, it might have aged well.

Lego newb reporting in. I just ordered the Saturn V and was hoping to order some other sets in the near future. However, it would seem most of those sets are unavailable on the primary market and on the secondary market the sets are 4-5x more expensive vs. retail.

It would seem to me that Lego consistently under-produces in-demand sets. Why is this? If the secondary market is demanding 5x the price of retail, why doesn't Lego increase their production runs on the front end or bring back sets that are in-demand?

Its very frustrating to try and get into a new hobby that makes it prohibitively expensive to acquire popular sets.

Lol you're basically fucking yourself over wanting Ultimate Collector's Series sets. They keep them in production for a few years after they come out, but after that, you're fucked.

If you're okay with used, keep an eye on craigslist. Sometimes people will be ditching their entire collection for $1000 and you could pull one of those out of it for $100-150 or so if they're nice about it

>>6357508
>Anyone know what (it seems like) Lego doesn't produce enough product to meet demand? Is it purposeful? Artificial shortages drive up customer demand and prices.
Lego's target market is little kids, not overprivileged manchildren like us. They put out some sets, the kids bug their parents to buy those sets, and then later new sets come out and the parents can't say "you already have one of those".

Lego has no incentive to continue producing "popular" sets because their primary market (kids) requires a high turnover rate on new sets.

The AFOL market is less than 1% of total sales. We're not a consideration for anything but the Creator line and the UCS shit, and even then, it's in Lego's best interest to cut off production after a while because that incentivizes you (the manchild) to buy it NOW instead of waiting and debating.
>>
>>6357487
It doesn't make any money for Lego though. None of second-hand does.

Anyone else hate this term? It's so self-aggrandising to me. People don't call themselves adult fans of soccer, or adult fans of video games, so why is Lego any different? It's a toy yes, but doesn't mean your age dictates your status of enjoyment. Like just accept you are an adult playing with Legos, no need to make a scene or be pretentious about it. Not pointing to anyone in this thread, I just heard that term used frequently and it irks me and I think paints a bad picture of the fans.

Alright my rant's over.
>>
>>6357508
this>>6357517

You overestimate the demand for these sets greatly. It would mean losses for LEGO to keep sets in production/storage for multiple years instead of producing new stuff that they can sell to a bigger audience. If their resources were infinite they would keep reproducing old sets, but that's not how business works.

>>6357539
nope, mark stafford (Nabii on the internet), a designer for LEGO posted on eurobricks that we ae less than 1% of LEGO's sales (I think that was last year). Of course that's no confirmation, but to think we are 4-5% doesn't seem logical.

4-5% is an official figure from Lego. Probably depends on what you're counting. If it's actual people then yeah, 1%. If it's something like revenue or profit then 4-5% seems realistic, considering manchildren's proclivity for buying the more expensive sets.

The arena maybe but the other one is pretty alright.
Biggest problem is the lame figure drop function of the Commodore and the usual color clusterfuck inside the build which is getting obnoxious by now.

So I just got the dog show winner minifigure and I absolutely love it, and was thinking of making my own lego dog show.
Would anyone happen to know some good dog figures to use? I was thinking about getting the french dude with the bull dog as well.

There's the new french bulldog,
a chihuaha,
german shepard (also comes in dalmatian colours and printing)
OG unicolor doggo
Belville dog with raised paw(probably very oversized though)

For jokes, you could add a bunch of the fabuland figs.
If you can stomach friends style prints, there were a bunch of those, atleast another Dalmatian from the Livi sets.

These are all the ones i can think of, Try browsing the Bricklink catalog under the Animal section of parts.

Ah yeah, i kinda missed out on that theme.
I quite liked it but never even bought the smallest track one. Kicked myself for it later. While the volcano expedition was neat too and a worthy follow-up, i hated the limegreen colourscheme. Eventually remade the volcano crawler in that colourscheme in red though, so everything turned out ok.

Another dog i just remembered is the giant three-in-one brown headed dog from the Harry Potter line.

Just tell them that 19 out of every 20 dollars lego makes comes from a non-AFOL, and that that justifies lego to make as many decisions as they want to the derision of adult collectors. If you had 100 dollars, and suddenly lost 4 or 5 of those dollars, how much would you really care, as long as you still had the other 95 dollars?

>>6358688
I've only been to a handful of official lego stores around the US (DS, Honolulu, Legoland FL) but from what I can tell, they just have the same price that is on shop.lego.com has. For sets, at least. Amazon and walmart usually have lower prices, but DS actually had 20% off on some sets when I was there end of last month.

>>
>>6358813
>price per piece
I go to bricklink to buy pieces, I buy sets for good sets.
Most licenseshit sets are garbage or mediocre, thus making them overpriced.
Plus, he points out how the disney stuff actually is more expensive.
I think seeing how prices have changed for sets overall over a long period of time when adjusted for inflation would be interesting though.
>>
>>6358813
I don't care about pricing, I just feel like licensed themes rely way too heavily on minfigures, often times it feel like the actual "set" is an afterthought.
>>6358817
Well that's good, I remember a few years ago when it was flooded with "UCS" everything. Now it seems like the current trend is giant, detailed buildings.
>>
>>6358829
Yeah, I get what you mean on buildings. They really need to set a hard limit on piece count, because when TLG is already probably a year or two ahead in the design of the modular buildings, a 4000 piece modular building for $300 is not going to fit into their product line.

They could trim down a lot more, especially in terms of overall quality of the submitted models, setting a maximum number to the projects one can submit and perhaps adding some proper age verification because half of the shit there is definitely not made by someone above 13 years.

Why is it that minifigs from superhero lines and CMF lines have all of these awesome prints, but minifigs from Star Wars don't?
I can understand that they want to put a higher level of detail into CMFs as obviously you're paying for just the minifig, but they do the same for superhero minifigs while they leave it out for Star Wars.
When a Star Wars minifig gets arm printing or wrap-around leg printing it's like a miracle, but it's just expected for other sets.
Pic related, for example. Bossk should have wrap-around feet printing, but they only do the front section. It's just lazy and I really see no reason for it, especially when Star Wars is one of the best selling lines (if not the best).

The sets he's referring to (uncreative, fig packs) are mostly superheroes and star wars, which actually ARE on the higher end of pricing as far as price per piece. Jang included minecraft, speed champions, and ideas sets all in "licensed", which isn't cherry picking data, but ignoring those three themes, you get higher price-per-piece in licenses. Jang said it himself. Disney charges more.

Listen, and I'm saying this from experience, if she isn't cool with your hobbies then she's probably not worth your time. A good relationship would have both sides being interested and supportive of each others' hobbies.

You want to ease a girl into knowing about your Lego collection? Just let her find out, say like if she's at your place and sees them on display or something. Don't go out of your way to admit it, that's a waste of time.

See, the concept of an insertable sex toy made of Lego (TM) brand buildable block toy product is sound, in theory.

In practice, you'd have to deal with the difference in friction between the bricks' clutch and the inner surface of the orifice you're using it in (vadger, poover, muncher, etc). It could be anything from annoying to problematic to painful to have bricks come apart while plunging the Lego (TM) brick block buildable toy product dildolio in and out.

That's why you'd want to put something in place that would keep the construct together as a unified whole. A device uniquely qualified both by shape and by intent would be a standard latex or polyeurethane sheathe d'penor, aka a condom.

This would ensure that even if some of the elements of the construct became detatched, all the parts would be held together as a single more-or-less streamlined body, easily removed from this or that bodily orifice with plentiful mucous membranes.

The attached crocky might be a bit of a problem, since it wouldn't fit inside the sheathe d'penor. Ostensibly, a "thumb" like this on such a device is meant to stimulate the clitoris (assuming it's being used in the vadger), but the sharper edges and pointed corners may make the crocky attachment less useful, especially since it will easily fall off if the device is being bashed with any force at all.

Alright, I'm gonna be cleaning up a lot of bricks that took some smoke and soot damage pretty soon. I understand that the process involves soaking them in some sort of Simple Green solution for a couple weeks, but could any of you give me a full rundown on how I'm supposed to do it properly and stuff?

Sorry if I sound like an idiot for asking; this is the first time I've ever had to do anything like this and I really don't want to damage them further.
>>
>>6359583
Actualy this one is ok. It suposed to be a headwrap so it works. BUT That piece should be put ON the headpiece instead of being one.
The C3 PO one is better example - it should have been the normal head
>>
>>6359902
>smoke and soot damage
It seems like people usually say this about things that can absorb smoke or soot, like upholstery or carpet or clothing. What can happen to Lego besides melting? Does it smell bad? What is there to do besides wipe stuff off it with soap and water?
>>
>>6359922
Plastic can absorb some stuff, but mostly it's just gunk built up on the surface and in turn stains the surface of the plastic
Simple green works and then rinsing it with soap and water should do the trick. Parts with sharp inward corners may need some tooth brush work
>>
>>6359711
Oy vey what a coincidence!

Buy a gallon (or more) of Simple Green. If you have a container with a lid large enough to fit all your pieces in, use that. Otherwise, get a container or be prepared to do this in stages.

Fill the container with Legos, then pour in Simple Green until it's almost at the top of the container. Put the lid on, give it a few good shakes (make sure you hold the lid on tightly while shaking), and let it sit with the lid on for two weeks. After two weeks, use a strainer and another container to filter all the pieces out of the Simple Green (you can reuse the Simple Green over and over as long as you make sure to store it in a sealed container so it doesn't evaporate). Rinse the pieces thoroughly using a strainer and hot water. You might have to use a fingernail brush or a toothbrush to scrub debris off of pieces. They'll probably smell like Simple Green for a while; airing them out helps speed it along.

If the parts aren't clean after two weeks, put them back in a sealed container full of Simple Green and let them sit another two weeks, then repeat if necessary. You should only have to do it two or three times, but if they're really bad it might take longer. You can also leave them soak more than two weeks at a time. It won't hurt the printing.

I prefer the right on this one, but i've gotta admit they were one of the first starwars minifigs i got and that Tusken Raiders were my favourite starwars thing back then.
If the fig on the right had those darth maul and black panther style rings with protrusionson them for the metal bits, it might've been a good middleground.

If you can avoid using a one off molded poop and use a regular head you can mix and match with hair and helmets that will always be better in my book. I had a lot of fun putting rey's hood over him.
There are exceptions ofcourse, but tusken raiders really are just humanoid normal heads with wraps around them much like every mummy lego did.

I really like that mech too, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how you attached the waist. Anyways it really reminds me of the suit from Aliens. Cool dropship!

the thing about those as road wheels is they make it super bumpy, which I don't like as much. I'd like something with rubber on it, but I'm not sure of any that are big enough around, since I can't use the same ones I use for the smaller type of tracks without putting the pivot outside of the tracks which just looks silly.

Yeah. But I can't think of anything else that would work, large wheels with tires tend to look pretty ridiculous as tank roadwheels.

I got the "spooky girl" last Halloween who might almsot make a good death with shorter hair.
Hell, spooky girl face, spiky make hair Maleficent body / robe might work.

wouldn't be too difficult to set up, just put a thin liftarm on one of the spokes. The blade will attach to the top part of the hub, should be secure enough.

in a earlier thread someone mentioned they would not let series 17 be sold in normal shops in Netherlands and Belgium.
You can only get them at Shop at home or a brand store.

Maybe an independent shop can look if they can get some, but expect nothing.

They did this earlier with series 11, I heard some rumors the shops didn't want a new series when there was too much of old series.
