And yeah, Equestria Girls are what made MLP:FiM jump the shark. Hasbro made just about every mistake they could have made when creating EQG. From the character design to shoddy dolls to trashing the deepest lore that FiM had already set up. And now where is EQG? The main doll line is dead and the mini-figure line is on life support. Some "MH killer" line EQG turned out to be!

But Hasbro sure did want a line to ride on the coat tails of the juggernaut that was MH back in 11'~14'. They saw that MLP fans were doing humanized versions of the Mane 6 and just put 2 and 2 together.

Of course they never fully got just what made MH successful. (Quality articulated dolls, outrageous clothes, unique premise, 'tude, etc.) And Hasbro never understood as to WHY the MLP fans were humanizing the pones. (Bronies saw the girls as attractive female personality archetypes, AKA moe. Anthropomorphing the Mane 6 made them made them physically attractive without the whole weird furry stigma.)

So the antropomorphing thing was clearly an adult male fandom thing. Something that Hasbro at that time just could not get their head around. So they made these male adult meme'd EQG dolls and marketed them to little girls 7 and under. Little girls who were also too young for the MH demographic that aimed at preteens.

The big character design reveal for EQG was met with scorn by the adult fans. People were already set in their headcanons with a fat Pinkie-Pie or Indian Twilight. It didn't help that the setting was going to be a mundane school instead of magical fantasy land.

So in the end Hasbro was stuck with something neither fish nor fowl that nobody wanted. That is EQG

Yes and no. In response to losing Disney they decided some brands needed a reboot to stay afloat. They turned EAH into a dumbed down cutesy princess lined instead of being a fairy tale counterpart to EAH (which sucks because I guess that means I'm done collecting EAH). Monster High also made more money than Barbie and no one is supposed to be better than Barbie so under the guise of "We have to appeal to the new generation of Monster High fans", they introduced G2 of Monster High - complete with samey faces, samey clothes, dulled down themes, and infested with boring budget dolls like the OP. They're trying to placate adult fans with the Amazon adult collector dolls but the newest one out this summer is Abbey and she looks like a hot mess. SDCC is coming up soon though but there haven't been any leaks for exclusive dolls.

Only saving grace for G2 MH are the minis. Those are actually cute.

I received this doll today, new in box. Right out of the package, her hair is sticky as fuck, and where her head was resting the cardboard is stained as if by a liquid

Relax. It's just the hair styling chemicals and/or hair rooting glue leaking out. It happens when a doll has been in a box for too long. It's common as hell in most dolls today.

Just wash her hair in warm soapy water. Afterwards, gently brush it out with a dollop of liquid fabric softener to prevent it from getting tangled with flyaway strands.

I have the best luck with TJ Maxx and Tuesday Morning just because it seems that it's mainly older women who shop there, and they're mainly after the home decor, craft supplies, doggy accessories, etc. Especially with Tuesday Morning. This is fucking tragic. Monster High got me into dolls. The outfits were inventive and fun, making good use of the monster theme in their details, and really well made to boot. The dolls themselves had great articulation (really, the only other thing I'd have wanted was an ankle joint). I was pretty much just a robot collector before, but I was amazed at how good these were, and poured so much money into this line. I even stuck by it when the concepts started getting iffy and the clothing quality dropped.

This shit is the last fucking straw though. It's phenomenally lazy...couldn't they even bother to paste a real bow on Draculaura's swimsuit? I'm fully done with the line, and that makes me so sad to say.

Unusual mix. As someone already said, the eyes do not match the style of the other reboot dolls. Which means this is either fake, a LE collector doll or Mattel is backtracking or just being cheap.

Her face up looks identical to the 2013 'Mad Science' Ghoulia except her eyes are now sideways glancing. Very pretty though.

I was in a couple of Wal-Marts today and I noticed that they're all marking down most of the new reboot & electrified MH dolls from $15 to $10 etc. That can't be good...

Whatever. The Electrified dolls are awful and the upcoming siblings wave should have been aborted. And then there's the fucking budget dolls, which are EVERYWHERE. I work in the UK's second largest retailer and we don't even stock Monster High dolls anymore and haven't done so since before Christmas. The shelf space got taken over by the Hasbro Disney Princess dolls. Ever After High disappeared from our shelves altogether years ago. First, the term you're looking for is 1/6 scale. That's what most MH/EAH stuff falls into. Also it's the scale of most fashion dolls, 12" GI Joes, Hot Toys figures, etc.

Second, BJD's are commonly in either 1/4 or 1/3 scale. Your swords are way too small for them.

Third, post a pic of the swords in question instead of that stupid stock photo. We can help you a lot better if we know what kind and size of swords you're selling.

Last, How & why did you get these swords without knowing anything about dolls & doll scale? If your aim was to sell them to BJD collectors, why post this question here instead of the BJD general thread? You have absolutely no idea of what you're doing, do you?

Seconding the Arena, but also check out FB. There are a bunch of MH sales groups, and people often sell loose items for as cheap as 50 cents. If someone has a bunch of items you need, it makes it really worth it. I completed a Sig Abbey, a 12 Wishes Clawdeen, and a bunch of other dolls all through one person's random odds and ends on FB.

I think MH and EAH are done in my area. I haven't checked far away from where I live lately, but all the local shops have eliminated their stock down to less than 30 total dolls in stock.

KMart had some of the new moulded cheerleading dolls for MH and the EAH ballet dolls. They had tags for Electrified Lala but she wasn't in stock.

Checked my nearest Target and Big W today to see what was on hand by comparison. Both shops have eliminated most of their MH stock and almost all of their EAH stock in the past couple of months.

Target had Ginger's baking playset, FdC Gooliope, Hairstyling Frankie, the three moulded-top Cheerleading dolls, a lone FdC Twyla, Sig Ari, and Electrified Ari and Lala. That was it.

Big W had SW Lala, Electrified Frankie, Ari, Lala, and Silvi, Lone Sig Moanica, WTMH Dance Frankie and Lala, Hairstyle Frankie and Lala, Frankie, Lala, and Clawdeen's new basic dolls, and no EAH.

In terms of non-doll merch, Target had a tonne of Megablocks and a few of the vinyls, while Big W had a few of the small kits of Megablocks, and that was it.

TRU is even further behind, with Finnegan, the Nefera and Amanita two pack, Iris, a couple of the Frightfully Tall Lalas and Elizabats, and the "new" ghouls from GSR. No sign of anything newer than that, and all the three packs and large sets have vanished. I have no idea if they sold, or if they just got sent back. Their EAH selection is down to a few of the sig dolls (Melody and Faybelle), and that was it.

Added to the fact that kids are going more for media entertainment (games, etc.) at a younger age than ever before, and most doll lines are struggling, it seems.

Bratz got shut down for a second time, after all, and they were being praised to the high heavens for correcting the mistakes and weird choices of their first run. Other lines like MC2 are also struggling, despite their initial popularity.

As for DCSGH or whatever it shortens to, they aren't selling in my area at all, so I have no idea how they're going. The shelves are jam-packed with the dolls, and initially seemed to move quickly, but are back to just stagnating.

Another thing I've noticed is that Journey Girls and American Girls seem to be making a weird come-back? The majority of Raven and Apple's relationship is just Raven looking past Apple’s guilt tripping and emotional manipulation into trying to get her to become her abusive mother (why? Does Raven feel like she owes Apple something for not signing? bc she realizes shed come off as the bitch bc of how popular Apple is? bc due to her destiny most people outasted her and she wanted a friendly face? the writers not realizing how genuinely odious Apple’s behavior is??) and then Apple’s moments of realization are just far more terrible for Raven (signing the book caused her physical pain and we know she wouldnt want to kill anyone even Courtly) and Dragon Games like oh Apple feels sorry and also ‘dies’ boo hoo she wanted to anyway its all her fault what happened. Granted Snow and EQ’s manipulations didnt help but yeah she broke the mirror and chose not to tell anyone till it was too late. And then she tried to get Raven to forgive EQ so she wouldnt be mad at her?? (also sideyes @Mattel for labelling the Raven/EQ relationship complicated… its abuse) but Raven also felt so guilty when she did nothing wrong!! and she felt guilty over the scheme she had to pull bc the adults were incompetent!! and like they cant even work on a yearbook w/o almost wrecking their friendship? or the moments in the book where Apple spies on her and also thinks that “a good story is worth more than anything, even one person’s life’ and tells Raven she will get her happy ending but Raven (who has been abused, bullied and outcasted) will never?? ok i dont think cartoon!Apple is as bad as book!Apple tho… so yeah im just not cool w how Apple didnt have any regard for how Raven felt on such an important matter and this is long enough but yeah

Ever After High and its fans have been overtly hostile to people of colour, criticisms of the majority white cast, and failed in being seen as inclusive or welcoming, especially since the characters of colour only got focus or added in after massive budget cuts, financial failures and people of colour were driven away years before the characters were seen or even alluded to. The EAH fandom has always been made up of like. literal monkeys and 13 year olds because the franchise is so alienating to WoC, aka the glue that holds society together

Not that I've seen. That Wild Childz line looked like a fucking disaster, but some MH people are so starved for dolls that it gained traction for a little while.

Personally, I've been looking at BJDs and Pullips. I've got a large MH/EAH collection, and part of why I liked them was customising stuff, so I'm considering a few MIO kits or a maybe a Island Doll or LoongSoul MSD to experiment with.
