I kinda thought the Disney Store would release a Deluxe live action Beauty and the Beast doll set around with the the blu ray release of the film, but seeing how they haven't announced anything yet I don't think it's going to happen.

I found one at the Goodwill once for $3, and remember getting creeped out by it when I looked at the eyes. Some lady tried to sell it to me by saying "Don't you know those dolls are like $100? You should get it." I just looked at her for a moment, and said yeeeeah.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you. I was thinking about maybe getting the Hasbro Belle and Prince set next month if the Disney Store doesn't make an announcement soon.
Maybe they had plans of doing a Deluxe set, but scrapped the idea do to low sales of the film collection Emma doll.

I just picked up the Target exclusive winter outfit Belle since Disney Store never bothered releasing their own version of her. My Target store mispriced her so I got her for only $15!
I put the outfit on my singing Emma doll since she wears the outfit while singing the song in the film. The winter outfit doll came with a poseable body which I gave to an extra Enchanting Ball Gown dress I had.

I looked it up, and this is what I found.

The Cinderella Blu-ray combo pack was released September 15, 2015

The film collection Cinderella Deluxe set was release August 31, 15

I guess there may still be hope for a live action Beauty and the Beast Deluxe box set.

I found two Winx club dolls last week. Their hands fall off very easily, and as always when it comes to second hand fairy dolls they didn't come with wings.

Depends on what kind of Winx dolls you got. Give us some pictures of the dolls and the neck post and we can give you some better info.

Do people into fashion dolls buy outside accessories for their dolls?

I have a bunch of detailed metal swords I want to list on ebay for BJDs / fashion dolls, but I'm unsure of what keywords I should use. "Accessories" and "swords" aren't returning many results. I also don't know what BJD size term I should say they'd fit.

Ex: They're the perfect size for things the height of Monster High / Ever After High dolls. What are the most popular brand dolls in that size?

Hispanic is the 2011 Mermaid sculpt which is fucking weird how shitty she looks cuz it's one of the more mature yet super feminine sculpts...
>>
>>6349790
No joke, I actually decided this model would be the easiest to make. Since a custom neck made from random junk and sculpting my own custom eyes would be the easiest thing to do. That and the only non threaded heads I could find that would scale right on the body cost around 30 a pop and I'm not dealing with that crap.
>>
>>6356909
Now I'm almost impressed by the fail. I wonder WTH is going on at Mattel, they obviously lost or fired a bunch of employees.
>>
>>6358102
I do think the minimalist makeup/natural makeup look is 100% making the dolls look way more haggard and ugly because the lines are all thick and plain looking, but I bet if you bring it up with any designers, they'll just send you a passive aggressive poorfag implication and kissy wink emoji.
>>
>>6356803
What the fuck is that thing lol I've seen tons of blacks and Hispanics and none of them had their hair color almost match their skin. That dress is disgusting. And that fucking face mold, it's like they took the mermaid one and literally just squished its nose and said "yeah looks good, now paint it brown". I'm done with Dolls for now I think, fuck this I'll just have to wait for someone out there to make something beautiful again one day.
>>
>>6358547
I agree. The new eye style is ruining the base dolls.

This was only $35 in 2005. I would love to be a fly on the wall at Mattel now and then.
>>
>>6359553
Don't care for the doll at all but those are some nice outfits and accessories.
>>
>>6359553
Now the only dolls with remotely similar clothes and accessories are the Look dolls. God help us if Mattel fucks that over too.
>>
>>6358575
Mattel does the same thing with American girl. Many of their girl of the year have hair and body colors that match. And it's gross.
>>
>>6358575
Giving brown dolls hair that matches their skin tone apparently makes them look lighter skinned/less black and Latino to white people while Mattel can play off the fact that they're actually making brown dolls. It's a fucking ugly ass design choice but people love it for some fucking reason...
>>
>>6359890
I'm a white who isn't into black or Latino dolls and their strategy isn't working. I would buy a minority doll if they made a good looking one, but they insist on making them look like shit and dressing them even shittier.

Looks like there's going to be a new Christmas Frozen short this November.
What are the odds that Disney Store will spring New Christmas 17" LE Holiday Elsa, and Anna dolls on us?
They created LE dolls for the last Frozen short . This being a Holiday short it would be a missed opportunity if they dropped the ball, and didn't create new LE Holiday Frozen dolls.

I'm totally in if they release a Christmas LE Elsa. I have mixed feelings about the dress, but it looks pretty enough.

I understand this board is US based, but it's pretty obvious that a lot of collectors are foreigners, as me, wich the site alienated for years and years by denying shipping to them.

So yeah, I usually don't even check it, and I believe many other doll collectors also don't.

Probably the chery on top of those reasons I almost don't buy from Mattel anymore.
>>

I know nothing about this films, and I'm not interested in dolls of characters..

But that fur trim on Elsa's (?, the platinum blond) dress looks so beautifully animated...!

I can see them doing it. If not 17" then maybe as part of a 12" designer set.

I have no interest in the Frozen stage musical but I can't wait to see if they do dolls for it. They've done dolls for almost every other Disney stage musical so far, so I can't imagine they'd skip this cash cow.

I actually saw that and have it open, but I like Prime shipping and that it comes to my door essentially as "Amazon package #6084897." Plus they sometimes lower the prices on these dolls to like the $20-$23 range.

I don't want my roommate seeing "The Barbie Collection" on my shipping label.

If it makes you feel better she stopped wearing dresses with slits on the side for some reason.
I wonder if Disney is trying to desexualize her like they did Princess Ariel in her 3rd film or if soccer moms have sent in one to many complaint letters to Disney.

That's because she nailed them to brick walls that look like dungeon walls.

I print out poster size backgrounds of the characters kingdom/house glue the poster onto a large poster sized cardboard, and than I tie, and hang every doll from that movie/show onto the cardboard poster. I than hang the poster with the dolls attached to it onto the wall.

I do this because I don't have space for shelves or display cases. placing them against the walls allows me to display my dolls without taking up floor space.

I also frame the posters which makes it look like a 3D framed poster with dolls popping off of it. I don't have a cell phone or digital camera, but here's a recreation of what it kinda looks like

I don't have the money to buy shelves because I spend all my spending money on dolls.

I also tried putting up a few shelves up once, but I kept bumping into them as I would pass by them, and they would Scrape my arms. The Scrapes would sometimes bleed, and people thought I was cutting myself. Also the smallest vibrations would cause the dolls to fall over or fall off the shelf all together to the ground which would mess up the dolls hair. I once had a doll which I had on a shelf above my bed fall on me as I was sleeping, and it scared me half to death in the middle of the night. I took all the shelves down after that night.

Why do people insist on making me google things. I don't watch Japanese cartoons. I mean I used to watch dubbed Japanese toons like Noozles on Nick Jr when I was little, but that was long ago.

I'm not even clear on what you're trying to say here. Are you saying that I start off as a mean person, but that I've slowly gown a heart, and I'm making a conscious effort not to be mean to other types of people who usually piss me off ?

If so thanks for noticing, anon.

>Grim's Fairytails
I love Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics. I have almost every episode on dvd. Some of the episodes were cut for content so I got the original versions as well.

I was thinking about making a few dolls based on the show after I'm done working on my original Pink Ranger doll. I'm using the new Mattel Wonder Woman body, and I'm hoping to get it to look as nice as this images I found online. I already have the helmet, and the outfit is almost done. All I need to do now is work on the hair.

My intention wasn't attempting to attack Gabby, definitely.

But honestly, she is an accomplished athleat, I would feel it's a demerit to discuss if she is cute or not.

I'm just not a fan of "characters" and even less "flesh and bones" celebrity dolls. Same for Natalia Vodianova, for exemple.

It's just more often then not it seems to me it's just a brand x brand sandwitch wich doesn't result in a great doll, wich is mostly what I care about in this connotation.

They also used the same Snow White face mold to make their 17" LE Alice in Wonderland doll years ago. Some doll customizers started buying up those 60th dolls to make their very own custom Alice dolls.

I also once saw someone who bought the 17" singing Snow White so he could re-root it with blond hair, and turned it into a 17" LE Alice doll. He did such a good job that you could barely tell the difference between his doll and the real thing.

They do. And they're $30-40. I really cannot understand how many weird basic-ass collectors on social media buy multiples of these things (or two dozen LOL packs, or ALL the Fashionistas) then complain that Pullips etc. are too expensive. Because clean display and storage is my biggest issue, and I DON'T buy everything.

Assuming that this is essentially a hipster college student look, you really think people take notes for class, or jot down all random ideas in a cellphone? What if your phone dies?

If I carried a purse or bag, I'd definitely carry around a notebook and pencil. Even at work, I prefer pen and a notebook to notes in a laptop.
>>
>>6382643
jotting stuff down in your cellphone is superior to notebook, because i can just email stuff to myself.
Copying and pasting is king.
It's self lighting, so i can always write anything, anywhere, anytime, one handed.
It's not as fast as handwriting, but outside of school for note taking, it doesn't matter and the ease of use is a super positive that overrides all.

Also, i carry two phones around, so it's not like both will die on me.

Tapping away at a keyboard in all settings can be pretty rude. Plus, not every note I take is something I want clogged up in my email or whatever.

How about a pink saddle stands . Now before you ask whats so special about a saddle stand you have to know that the doll would have a button between it's legs, and every time you place the doll on the saddle stand the button gets pressed, which triggers a loud Ka-Ching sound effect followed by Barbie saying "Lets go buy some shoes with Daddys Money" Just like in those old Sketcher's Daddy's Money ads that feminists bitched about a few years back.

Sorry, sometimes I think I'm on other boards and I sound like a hateful asshole, haha.

I carry around a notebook in my office and my car, since if I'm in a meeting with a business associate I can't just jam away at my phone with notes for an hour long meeting - it'll look like I'm texting people.

I used to journal some back in high school/college though, and I enjoy a nice doodle in the margins of a book every once in a while. If I was a girl that could carry around a purse/satchel, I'd definitely carry around a pen and pad of paper.

and just so you know, i hate texting, myspace, and ICQ. So I'm not pro-tech or anything like that. I just like those notes for making it easier to keep track of everything.
I used to have a notepad, btw, that i used to keep track of dates, appointments, songs i needed to get, etc, but that was just a clusterfuck. 2008/2009 iPhone was a life saver. Sure, blackberries and Dangers existed before then, but they were fuckawful and why i never got them despite my always researching them every year and saying "this is it, I'm going to make the plunge"

Notepads are shit. Smartphones are now an every day thing that are incredibly useful for a hundred different things. Teach kids to embrace how great they are by having your dolls come with them.

Looks like King Triton will have a nice dark cape, and his triton seems to be decked out with stuff. Ariel seems to be wearing something similar to he 17" LE bra. Here's hoping it's not another shitty shirt that covers up her belly like the Ursula/Ariel set.

Rapunzel's bodice seems to have a white section in the middle.

I wonder if her hair will actually be long enough to tie up Flynn the way that it appears to in the artwork. If so this might be the longest hair Rapunzel doll ever! They better include that cute Pascal!

>If you can't write notes on a smartphone without being rude then why would it be okay to write on a notepad?

For all the talk of autism earlier... how do you not get that? Me writing in a notepad throughout an hour long presentation is pretty clear that I am giving you my 100% attention. On a smartphone, I am easily able to be texting, or playing Words With Friends, or answering my other emails. Most people who are aware of social convention will tell you that using a phone during a meeting, date, or at the store is considered rude. My notepad can ONLY take notes.

I have four email accounts (personal, throwaway, purchases, work). But, I get about 100 work emails a day, and don't want to clog that up with notes. Plus it means unless I have a wifi or service signal, I can't reference my notes.

I still use my phone for certain kinds of organization, like my calendar, two email accounts, and more, but just because I can use a tech device for all of that doesn't mean it's appropriate in every situation.

I work for a Fortune 500 company and have never once witnessed a coworker use a cellphone as a note taking device. MAYBE a laptop or tablet.

How restricted.

Anyone who knows me would know I'm only taking notes and not using it to talk to someone.
Besides, it's one of the reasons the iPad/iPhone uses the legal pad style yellow for their Notes, to make it obvious what you're doing.

Just so you know, i worked in a law office for a while, hence my being able to get an iPhone when they first came out and it quickly replaced all the Blackberrys in the office.
Smartphones are a universal tool, and while it didn't replace a lot of note taking, no one really confused colleagues as playing games or texting, since we weren't kids and had been using our phones as business tools since they became mobile.

Using a smartphone for entertainment is something that came up from your generation. This doesn't change the fact that they were and are business tools since conception.

Don't get peer pressured into not being able to use what you need and just make it obvious on what you're doing.
But what do i know? I haven't worked in a professional setting for nearly a decade, moved away from education since five years ago, and just fart around in my pajamas most of the day working on websites. Maybe it's super duper important not to look like a toddler with your iPad at fortune 500 companies like WalMart and KMart now.

Here's that picture I promised, Anon. When I switched her, I had to return the pink-teed girl because she was definitely too dark. Purple-tee looks pretty good, and I know it's her because I just found her shirt. If you look close you'll see that my girl wears the MTM yoga pants now. The jeans she came with are pretty bulky, mom-jean style. They fit MTM though. What doesn't fit is the shoes. The MTM feet are smallerthan the Disney doll. Also when I removed the head, it snapped the brittle peg on the Disney body. You might be less ham-handed than me, but after that there was no going back. Good news is, the head fits nice and tight and has no posing issues.

No one's going to accuse me of playing games either, or texting, but that's because we only pick up our phones if an important email or message from a colleague or whatever pops up.

I also doubt you're that much older than me, so I'm aware they've been business tools for a long time. Still, long-form notetaking is not sensible on a smartphone.

A laptop or tablet, sure, but the entire point of the argument was about a notepad being too defunct and pretentious to include in a toy set. They're still widely used.

But notepads are pretentious in this day and age. Maybe not for artists, but for people just jotting things down and/or people who grew up with them.

It's as bad as people who still use a typewriter or word processor. These type of people aren't pretentious if that's what they are used to, because this makes them look like fuddy duddies who refuse to learn.

So in almost all cases, it looks really bad. It gives off a bright hipster aura if you're young.
And i can definitely say that notepads are rare as hell to see nowadays, with both young and old people, even with college kids doing schoolwork in cafes.

BTW, late 30s, so i grew up using monochromatic computer screens and these for school. It's why I don't like using facebook and other very impersonal ways of communication, so i stick with VOIP (phones!) and facetime. Being old fashioned like this always scores me big points with the younger ladies. The fact that this does threatens to break my mind.

If it is legit, they're not the same doll but similar. In this new image there are gold beads on her collar, and the rhinestones are blue instead of white on her bodice, and there's a chain necklace like the original 17 " Snow White.

Where did you find it? I wonder if it's someone's custom...

For one, i used to work at schools.
Two, i have nephews and cousins who are teenagers and 20 year olds.
Three, my last GFs were early 20s and their friends were glued to their smartphones for everything.
Four, I go to cafes and college kids rarely ever have notebooks.

So not everyone who is old refuses to accept and learn new things.

Also, it's crazy how kids today are just as ignorant about technology as they were in the 90s and early 00s. Computers are as scary as ever, thanks to their iPods and MySpaces keeping shit simple.
>>
>>6384247

MySpace has been dead for 12 years, dude. You're not as hip as you think.
>>
>>6384251
That's the joke.

The iPod market is also incredibly dead because of smartphones replacing them and even then, a lot of kids today may not have an actual local library and just stream it off of Spotify or Pandora.

I notice this shit and its crazy how kids are so okay with this.

Also, i forgot to mention that 4chan also keeps me up to date with all the popular kewl shit kids are into and their annoying habits and dumb morals.

I'm as cool and hip as i was in the 90s, which is to say, I'm a big dork, but that's incredibly charming only because I am a handsome youthful looking gentleman.
Only my graying hair is giving me away and now most girls think im in my mid to late 20s.

Holy fuck you're incredibly cringey. I actually felt secondhand embarrassment reading through your posts. Your references are so fucking dated, I can't believe you mentioned ICQ. Jesus Christ. Face it grandpa, you're out of fucking touch, and hovering on the periphery of what you perceive as "youth culture" does not mean you are a part of it or understand it.

For the record, I work with a bunch of other college kids selling notebooks and other "low tech" shit, and we sell huge volumes to students from middle school to college. You're still a step behind, left in that mid-2000s belief that tech will replace everything and today's kids are so "plugged in" and " connected" and shit. Yeah, kids like their phones, but they sure as shit don't make sense for every application. You can argue all the "but phones are superior!" you like, but that doesn't change what kids are actually doing.

And by the way, teachers are not gonna be hovering over your shoulder seeing the notes background and knowing you're doing something productive. If you have your phone out, they WILL assume you're fucking around and tell you to put it away.
>>
>>6384348
You're pretty funny, because you can't get these references and taking it to be literal.
Are you really so young you can't remember ICQ not being relevant by 2000? Once AOL got their hands on that shit, they buried it with their two/four/three in one messanger.

Also, that bit about selling notebooks? Hilarious, given that I've taken my nephews for back to school shopping and remarked how the space for trapperkeepers and lined paper/books is tiny compared to how it was when i was in grade/middle/HS/college.
I'm incredibly jealous that they turn in the majority of their reports over the internet with sites like Blackboard, which were barely coming out in my later years of college. Even then, my teachers wouldn't accept digital files for papers.

The fact that notebooks are in use is probably only for the fact that physical note pages are allowed for tests, as smartphones would allow for each cheating... and that poor students exist.
And yeah, i wouldn't trust HS/middle school kids to use a smartphone in class. College? Get real. Only the fuddiest of the duddiest would ban them

>>6384341
Just saying that its pretty hipster and pretentious for dolls to come with notebooks like that.
To make an analogy, it's like someone using ICQ today.

I'm sure we're gonna need to make a new thread soon for this so while I know that's happening, I'm not going to pull this shit into the next one, but try to finish this off. I'm not even the guy you're replying to, and you're just nuts.

>Are you really so young you can't remember ICQ not being relevant by 2000?

No. They can't. Anons that are in college, like he said he was, are in some cases younger than the goddamned Dreamcast now. You can be 18 and born in 1999. Even asking them to remember what AOL/AIM was is a stretch.

>Also, that bit about selling notebooks? Hilarious, given that I've taken my nephews for back to school shopping and remarked how the space for trapperkeepers and lined paper/books is tiny

Come on, again, this is fiercely out of touch. Trapper Keepers? This isn't the old days of Lisa Frank. Seriously, next time you're out with your nephews, ask if they still use paper in the classroom. I'm sure the answer will be that they do.

>College? Get real. Only the fuddiest of the duddiest would ban them

Colleges literally do this. Like, all schools, all classrooms. Try asking this question a board that skews young, like /adv/, /r9k/, fuck, even /b/. They'll tell you this.

>Just saying that its pretty hipster and pretentious for dolls to come with notebooks like that.

It's a doll. Many come with different accessories. There are already dolls with smartphone releases. Should they all come with the exact same thing so they're not "pretentious?"

Anyways, I'm peacing out. Sorry for annoying the thread with this. My version of this doll will show up on Friday. Maybe I'll post a picture or something.
>>
>>6384771
>this is fiercely out of touch.
Come on, this is all tongue in cheek. It's like your grandpa telling you he used to walk up hill to and from school. I'm well aware that young people have no idea what using the DOS prompt is for or why rewinding was important.
Do you know that so many little kids today can't even envision life without their iPads and having all info about the world at their fingertips at any moment? It's the same type of humor as ye olde time recollections. It's comedy.
BTW, that guy (pretty sure it was a grill) was saying he doubted I was much older than him. Hence, all these terms that he would actually know if he really was.

>if they still use paper in the classroom
Of course they do and so do colleges. But so much stuff is handled digitally now. The school district i worked for was already cutting back in how much material students had to carry with them and was slowly phasing in student laptops. My nephew right now has one for his school.
This is why a lot of back to school sales and events in all physical stores don't have as many notebooks and paper packets like they used to.

>Colleges literally do this
Like i said, only the fuddiest of duddies do this. I know a lot of college kids who have told me this. It always depends on the teacher.

>Should they all come with the exact same thing so they're not "pretentious?"
No, but that specific doll does look like a pretentious hipster because of that notebook. It's old fashioned and going against how the vast majority of younguns write things down now. Even my lifelong (older) friends have slowly transitioned to using their smartphones.

That small notebook is slowly becoming the 8 Track, iPod, and home desktop computer. Outdated.
>>
>>6384880
So lemme get this straight. You have actual college kids ITT who are living this life currently telling you you're wrong, yet you insist that you know better because you're a middle-aged fuck clinging to his youth who's still "hip enough to run with the kids." Absolutely fucking amazing.
>>
>>6384917
Sounds like you didn't read the thread.

Other people were saying the doll is a hipster for having a notepad.
Some girl says its not pretentious because she doesn't think college students can type fast enough to take notes.
Someone who claims to work for disney says they didn't carry around a notepad everywhere with them, but good for anyone who does.
Then comes in someone who says her business is all about taking notes and its rude to use a smartphone during meetings.
I bring up that smartphones (PDAs) are considered business tools and have been used for non-entertainment business since the day they were created, such ass an office i worked at.
She doubts my age and says she doesn't want to be percieved as inattentive by others at her work place by using her smartphone.
I then bring up things to show my age and that even old people know about what the kewl kids do, such as posting on an American image board for a variety of topics such as toys, because i used to work in schools, have had barely legal GFs working their way through college, so i know about college kids not using notebooks like they used to.
Enter other people who think I'm out of touch because I mention things that are no longer kewl and phat, like ICQ, notebooks, MySpace, AIM, notepads, wordprocessors, notebooks, iPods, notebooks, monochromatic monitors, and notepads.

And here you are not getting the joke because you're too young.
You might as well be arguing that Myspace is still relevant because millions of people still use it, just like the paper notebook, despite the fact everyone laughs at people still clinging to old unhipshit like Myspace and notebooks, because of the millions of people who moved on.
Almost like this thread that has hit its bump/age limit.
