There isn't really anything that matches too well. You could try these.

I recently completed my Jack, and I just took a quick stab at armored jack.

Why would you wash the history off of them? That's a badge of honor! They survived all these years to this point. Can you even guess how many times they've probably been stepped on and cursed? There is POWER there, boy!

I've owned Lego since I was a young lad. Recently this winter I came out of my dark ages and it's fun being an adult and now I can spend whatever I want on my bricks. :-)
>>
>>6294286
But to answer your specific question. Some bricks I've had for 35+ years. I buy on bricklink, shop at home, stores, Craigslist, etc.

Lucky, I gave my bucket to my younger family.

The big complain I have is pretty standard to these kinds, even more expensive sets like The Ghost. It's just a basic mockup and what little interior they give you is completely inadequate for the figures. Okay, that's common enough. Still at least the original Milano had more room and even room for Quill's tape player.

Forget fitting Groot in there, though. Hated that design anyway, wish they'd just given us a bigfig instead of that stupid brick built piece of crap.

>>
>>6294843
Kids grow up and get "too old" for toys faster than you think, and new kids come and replace them.

Take Bonkle for example. Some of the target audience wasn't even born yet when the original run ended. This is also why we get police stations and fire departments every other year. For a normal kid, trying to find a set from even couple of years back is nigh impossible
>>
>>6294851
>Kids grow up and get "too old" for toys faster than you think.
And what about us,Sherlock?
We are kids? 20,30 are kids?
For example I have 23 and I like collecting Bayformers figures and Lego.PS.My girlfriend doesn't know that yet...

>My girlfriend

>>
>>6294854
You're not the target audience, shitcock. You can go get that 5 or so years old set with ease, kids can't.

And Lego wants to keep it fresh. Why else do you think there's been several space themes, when classic space could've been just fine?

A) I don't exactly have a favorite but I like this gal.

B) Mostly character builds. I like the poseability, makes them feel more "alive".

C)https://www.flickr.com/photos/lingonkart/
>>
>>6294936
That's the gist of it. The host builds the map and gives the scenario with some pictures, and then players sign up for characters or factions.

At the start of each turn, the host lays out the current conditions with text and images. Usually this is a few wide shots of the map mixed with some close ups where necessary.

In a PvP game, the players usually private message their actions for the turn to the host; in coop, they can be public. Since everyone decides what to do at the same time, you have to be flexible about how the host should interpret your orders if some of them are impossible by the time they get to your turn.

Then the host plays through the round as directed by each of the players, ad-libbing where necessary. When the round is done, they take pictures and post the current situation for the next round.

Repeat until finished.

B) Sci-fi military, I currently have a mech/vehicleshit army project I'm 3 months in now that is slowly but steadily getting progress.

C) https://www.flickr.com/photos/34673042@N02/ Haven't posted anything in like 3 years now, gonna change that this year though.

I have some good news fo you all:
Today I got an Email from my friend,he is a Lego Designer.I asked him many weeks ago if there is going to be a new space theme in the future and he said:
"We are working on 5 space themes,3 are done. Two will have their own TV Show that will be released in the next decade. The three themes that are done will be smaller.
In 2018 will be released one in august, months after Han Solo release, the other one will be realesed in 2019-2020(it depends on how the first line sells,if it sells good then it will have another wave),from 2021you will see a lot of spae themes. The new space themes need to have an release date after the all star wars hype is down, the new themes will have an story(but only two an cartoon) and app games with scannable features.I'm very proud on what we did."
I'm very excited for the new themes that will come.

I had a load of spare castle bits lying around, so I just used them. What's great about skellies is that you don't need to stick to a uniform or colour scheme, it can be as rag-tag as you want as it's an army drawn from countless generations.

They're a bit garish, but the molds are good and I think the colourful armours work fine.
>>
>>6295365
I just took a quick look of the sets.

Sure, the ultra builds are crap, and I say this as a Bonkle fan, but some of the actual sets are perfectly fine. Sure, most of them are just facades, but there's way less vehicles than nowadays
>>
>>6295375
My main criticism is that they often used large, single pieces for walls and such (though this is a problem castle has had for ages) and the colour schemes.
Late KKII is weird, I'm never sure what to think about it.

>>
>>6296122
The problem is them parts dont add up in Lego maths when it comes to snot building. If it was a 1x2x2 plate with studs on both sides it would be perfect!
>>
>>6295971
Everybody has something important to them otherwise what would be the point of the hobby? Whatever people like is fine for them and who gives a shit about people who complain? They don't like it they can enjoy collecting the way they like and more power to 'em.

Personally I like both. Minifigs are sweet, sure, and it's nice having a variety. CMF lines make it easy to amass a wide variety of different figures for just about anything you'd want to create. But too many figs without anything to do with them is, well, pretty boring. It's nice having them in their "natural environment" for displays. And yeah they do bring a life to other creations.

From the mentality of a figure/model collector I'm sure it can make sense to just have the minifigs and a few accessories and just line up on a shelf, but when they have so many different things they can be, so many places you can create to populate with them, it feels like a waste leaving standing around collecting dust.

Really my only problem is never having enough space.

I dread the idea that they will: the entire point I got back into Lego was because Nexo was both cool and didn't cost an arm and a leg for the good sets like all the old Castle ones (Fortrex for 70.00$? works for me!) I just think Nexo needs to be given a chance to really shine like the Castle theme before it.

Lego has a lot of ratios and numbers that can be usefull to know when snot building. The most simple is 3 plates = 1 brick which most people know but it gets more and more complex such as 5 plates=1 brick height.
If you use this double studed plate its missing a plate of thickness to line up with any other "Lego maths" so to speak!!
If you stick a 1x2 plate on each side of it its all good!

This is a good idea. It satisfies the need for Lego to make all of their sets vehicles while also giving time to structures. But, wouldn't that make the sets prohibitively expensive? I mean, it in essence means that every Nexo set is a building plus half a car/mech to stand it on.

I'm thinking of getting into stop motion.
Anyone done it? Main thing I'm worried about at the moment is getting the lighting right.

Lighting is a concern of mine as well. I think that as long as the light is the same, it should be ok. Flickering is the worst.
>>
>>6296740

>>
>>6296877
>>6296893
Stop motion animator here, though not lego since I do it for work and lack the equipment at home (and also don't really want to animate lego). Flickering is a bitch and I wish I had more advice on it, but some good tips are to have a long shutter speed and avoid natural or fluorescent lighting (I've used a lot of led lights as they are pretty constant)
This is a good thing on it that goes into some depth
https://blogs.adobe.com/creativecloud/reducing-flicker-for-stop-motion-animation-and-time-lapse-photography/
We use dragon frame and big boy cameras, but honestly there are plenty of phone apps for it and most recent phones have pretty good cameras for it, all you'll need is a sturdy tripod.
And then of course learning about storyboarding, timing and principles of animation are all really important to make your stuff stand out

That said some people have been talking up the overstocking of Batman bags keeping Series 17 from shelves. They still had Bats at my store but luckily still put the new ones out too. Course they had twice as many Bat CMFs so apparently it is true that places overstocked for the movie. Rocketboy is still one of my favorite from this series but sadly I can't quite turn him into classic spaceguy (with updated helmet). I've got light gray legs, helmet, even hands but sadly no light gray tanks on hand. Oh well, it's not like I don't know where I can buy some.

Also think I'm finally closing in on a decent-looking minifig-scale keyboard. Adjustable legs are sturdy at waist height, and they fold up neatly for storage.

Of course the whole thing rests on having a printed tile that was apparently only in five sets in a two-year period in the eighties, but they're fairly cheap on cracklink.

Problem is, I absolutely want it to fit into a 2x4 space, I want pronounced edges, and I want it to be as flat as possible. This looks adorable as hell (couldn't find any 1x2 white tiles at the moment) but I really want to keep it at exactly the volume it's at now.

What I meant was while I've been redoing my basement I've been looking at the renovations as if I'm building with Lego. Then while shopping at Home Depot I saw carpet squares and it all made sense. I'm pretty sure it's a rumor. If it is true and AFOLs' whining ended up killing both a Castle and Space theme, and we get none because Lego decides, "well, no one bought our last Castle theme and Galaxy Squad went to clearance. Combining them didn't work. I guess people just aren't interested in castle or space themes besides Star Wars", then wow, good job. We're lucky to be getting this now and it's a creative and fun theme to boot.

>Wasnt that always a negative term towards italians?
Not only is Guido a fairly common Italian name, but it is regularly used in other contexts, such as Guido Ministries (named for the last name of the founder).

It's "offensive" on the same level as "Paco"; used as both a derisive moniker and an actual name.

>This is nothing short of a pathetic excuse. Lego is trying to increase sales by running a thinly veiled lottery, where they can produce multiple $2,000 prizes for pennies. If they were a stand up company, they would just give out $2,000 gift cards and not lean on their fans (aka secondary market) to flip to price tag for their promotion.
>I would have very much appreciated it had they not done this at all, or at least be up front with early promotions, and basically say unless you have an obnoxious amount of disposable income, this is not for you.
>It’s sad that after collecting for 40+ years, Lego has decided to price me out of what should have been a fun in-store purchase for everyone. Going out of my way to get figures like the BR mascot used to be fun. This is just flying things in my face to show me what I’m not privileged enough to afford.

>>
>>6299207
But it's true. People cause scalpers to exist because they want ALL THE MINIFIGS and then bitch when scalpers charge what the market will bear.

I don't get upset that I can't have a specific SDCC minifig, even if it's of a character that I really really like, because I didn't go to SDCC and it was a promo for people who did go. It's not unfair that I can't have one cheaply just because I want it but also want it to be cheap. I just resign myself to understanding that I will probably never have any exclusive figs unless I make the initial effort to get one along with everyone else when they're first made available.
