KEK that's impossible, but do check craigslist. I got the chronomorpher for $5 or $10. I can't remember.
>>
Saw a few of the MMPR figures at Toys R Us. Did some snooping around and I guess I ended up missing some of them. Should I just wait until they release the Metallic versions of them later in the year? Is the White Ranger already metallic?
>>
>>6264443

No, current Legacy white is just white. And honestly, unless you're looking for red or green, some stores may still have some legacy figs. I've seen all but the two I just mentioned in the wild lately
>>
>>6264451
I've seen the entire set of MMPR except for the new wave in the wild. I snagged Green when I had the chance. I also got the SDCC red when I was at the cinema since the bandai guy just offered one to me at the booth. So I already have the metallic red with his sword. I actually like the metallic look for these guys.

Man, the weapons for the Then rangers look really good. Anyone know if they fit/look well with the Legacy figs (and if they combine)? I'd buy a lot of those just for the weapons.
>>
>>6264509
They do combine. Some fit better than others with the Legacy figures.
>>
>>6264561
The thing single thing that stopped me from buying this set (other than the fact that I have the figuarts) is how off-model Red Rangers helmet is. All the others are perfect why does Jason's head look so retarded??

Ooooh...I remember seeing these when Megaforce first started airing. Skipped all of em cuz I thought they were too tall & too muscled. But, despite that, I did find that they were "getting better" in regards to Marvel Legends & DCUCs.
>>
>>6264586

I have this guy and love him. Muscle rangers reminds me of my childhood and that's the reason I still give a damn about PR so it's a fitting mix in my opinion.

The SRC
The actual Chogokin
The Minipla
The Legacy Build A Figure
The giant X-PLus
The upcoming Tamashii Buddy
The Imaginext if you're hardcore
The old Legacy figure with like extreme Revoltech proportions

And I'm pretty sure I'm missing like 2-3 more little hipster SD-style Megazords.

Apologies if I'm asking a dumb question, but I don't normally browse PR threads. Has anyone ever made a modestly sized/priced combiner-style original Megazord? Like 7 or 8 inches tall in robot mode is what I'm thinking, the same size as the diecast Voltron that Playmates is releasing later this year.

Like maybe one of these ( >>6265399) is what I'm looking for?

Do you need the combining gimmick?

If no, go for the Super Robot Chogokin figure.

If yes, then that's the Super Minipla Daizyujin. (Pic) Do note that even though it's a cheaply-made model kit, the distribution of it is terrible and you may end up paying quite a lot for it.

2) When it says 5-pack, does it mean you're given a random assortment of five, or do you get one of each?

The black box is just the shipping case, with 5 boxes inside. It's always a confirmed set. It's strange but this is how candy toys are distributed.

Green is very worth it, I picked him up just the other day and I've had a lot of fun with him, and he's got a good chunk of stuff for the price point (Sword of Darkness, Dragon flute, alt hands).

White is a little harder to justify, as he only comes with Saba (and the holster, but that's expected at this point), wish he had alternate hands or something else, maybe a morpher, no idea what but something else would have made the 20ish I paid feel a bit better.

They've been out of print for over two years, and it's currently the only way to own every Red Ranger in the same scale. Though numerous figures have been re-released and can currently be bought at retail. Since this has been asked before I put together a visual aid. These are all the re-releases currently on the market. The two packs are exclusive to Walmart in the US.
>>
>>6267406

To add to this, the Then and Now packs with classic and movie rangers are at Walmart by the bucket fulls. The red ranger pack near the bottom is about $50 on eBay and Amazon if you find it in stock.

Good luck on the MMPR Red and Green pack though because your walmarts are likely still suffocating with Ninja Steel crap

I have them already so it won't be difficult. I had already test-fit the red ranger's head on the Cyclops buck. I like my Rangers roided!

The Mcdnoalds heads are nice, has anyone tried the Lightspeed Mcheads out on Marvel parts? I know the Batman Beyond BK head is a perfect fit for the Reed Richards buck.

And does anyone know if I can buy Paonmaru, UFOmaru, and Dinomaru for use with my Ninja Steel DX Megazord, or do I just have to buy the Ninninger robot instead of constantly shelling out $35 for recolored megazords just for new auxiliary zords? And is there some sort of blue ranger figure that comes with the shuriken hat for the megazord's dragon mode, or did BoA fuck that up worse than they did Byunmaru's waist part and the dump truck's missing lid thing?

Is there any point at all in buying non-Legacy megazords if I don't care about ZordBuilder and only want true-to-show combinations?

No, there's no American alternative for that head currently.

I stopped collecting right around the time they announced the RPM toyline, when we had gotten the first "legacy" Rangers in a long time - Titanium Ranger, Zedd etc.
I know there's been 4' versions of the MMPR (complete with Rita) that looked like shit before doing 5' again. How many MMPR Red Rangers did they fucking do afterwards? I think they did a Red Ranger anniversary around Megaforce, but other other colored Rangers such as Zeo have been left out? I think they also look like shit?

They re-did new morphers, as far as I know. They're better. Did they do the movie versions, too? Any other new Ritas or Zedds? I feel tired seeing the same fucking Zedd every time when the only good one seems to be the first 5' one (back around Jungle Fury). Didn't they re-do Megazords as well? Or just MMPR again?
Lastly, are the 93 morphers even worth anything anymore now that we got the new ones?

Super Legends was a good color. I believe the 2010 Greens were as well. Not sure why Bandai started using the shades they are now. They take a step forward, then two steps back.
>>
The more I buy from the Legacy line the more I hope it doesn't fail. $20 for a 6.5in Ranger is really fantastic. They may not be perfect sculpts or have extreme articulation, but the sculpts and articulation are fine for the fairly low cost and large size. The movie ones from Toys R Us are fantastic especially! Lack of the bicep swivel sucks, but the sculpts are amazing and they look fantastic together.
>>
>>6270107
I'm fine with the articulation, but there's no excuse for the terrible sculpts. Natrual sculpts wouldn't have cost more to make, but Bandai went with the tired roided men and giant tits/tiny waist women because they're completely out of touch with the fanbase. The BAF in place of weapons also shows how out of touch they are. Given all those girls warming pegs, the BAF is clearly not something most people care for. And while you may see the size as a positive, it's probably the biggest negative for me because they don't fit with ANYTHING. I'd have been much happier paying $20 for better articulated 5 inch figures with a full array of weapons than this ill-conceived line.
>>
>>6270150
No one wants 5 inch figures but children and manbabies. 6" is where it's at
Bandai fucked this line in a lot of ways but the Baf is not one of them.
They fucked the line by cheating out on the figures. Missing paint, articulation, etc. They should have just charged $30 and done them right.

BAF is already a gimmick for extra sales and they went too far with it by spreading teams out over multiple waves which was totally unnecessary
>>
>>6270150
>because they're completely out of touch with the fanbase.
I thought the classic muscle-build was the one more popular with the American fanbase, making you the one who's out of touch.
>>
>>6270107

I just got legacy green, white, and red MMPR and I love them. I have red a power sword from the armored mega force red ranger release and he's now unironically my favorite figure currently. Posability is what I want out of it, and the sculpts are good enough. Accurate sculpts would've been cool, but I grew up with muscle rangers so seeing more of them doesn't bother me.

However, I do agree that BAF was dumb. They should've made the things huge, that would've made things better at least. Still would've just preferred weapons.

Picked up a morhper today, and I can totally see them doing that with Tommy's coins. Maybe a little cheaper than the normal set since at most there's gonna be maybe 3 coins, but I'm sure they'll squeeze it for all they can.
>>6270235
That'd be pretty neat, honestly, and it's not like much would change compared to how lacking in detail the pieces are now, they'd just get minimal articulation depending on the amount of limbs. Though I'm sure it'd be an excuse to raise the price by 5-10 more dollars.
>>
>>6270167
>No one wants 5 inch figures but children and manbabies. 6" is where it's at
Um... hate to break it to you but if you're buying toys as an adult you're a manbaby regardless. And when you have 20 years of 5 inch figures, and dozens of characters who will never be revisited, starting from scratch in a new scale is retarded. I would be more forgiving if these were 6" as they would at least fit with other lines, but at 6.5 they fit with nothing.

>the Baf is not one of them.
The biggest complaint I've seen by far is the lack of weapons, which is a direct result of the BAF. The fact that girls are not selling proves that the BAF was a mistake. People would be buying the girls to complete the BAF if they gave a shit about it. Most teams have a combining weapon, that should've been enough for a "collect them all" incentive. Just because other lines do BAFs doesn't mean it was a good idea for PR. Rangers need weapons, and even without a BAF we rarely get a complete array of weapons, so we really needed the full accessory budget to go to weapons.

>They should have just charged $30 and done them right.
Never would've happened. I'd argue even $20 is too much given how badly the girls pegwarm.

>>6270194
No one ever asked for roid Rangers. The muscles have been a common complaint forever.

>a near carbon copy of the OG toy
That's not a good thing in my book. I hate the proportions of the OG toy. SRC is much closer to the show suit. It takes liberties, but is nowhere near retrofire tier. I think you forget just how awful the retrofires were. Don't get me wrong, I still like the mini-pla, though I'm mostly interested in it for the individual Zords in that scale and compatibility with the Dragonzord. I can't ever see myself displaying it over the SRC.
>>
>>6271150

You don't really see Jason use the power sword either but he returns it to the command center at the end of the movie. They are just toys to sell for the most part. No need but to show a glance in the movie and move on, that leaves more time to mention Krispy Kreme since that is really vital to the movie.
>>
>>6271179
I feel there was a small subplot about the sword that was cut. Like, Zordon telling Jason to keep it was meant to have a little more weight to it. Maybe.

>SRC is much closer to the show suit
Wait, what? I know it's been a while since MMPR, so maybe you've forgotten that in-show Daizyujin has fucking comical proportions. It's stubby and fat with short limbs and a huge head. Neither toy really looks like it in my opinion, but the Minipla arguably comes closer simply by having more thiccness all around. The SRC has very "heroic" proportions (compact chest, skinny waist, thin thighs and biceps with thick forearms and calves) that are absolutely nothing like the in-show suit.

And yeah, the Retrofire isn't even worth talking about.

>>6271176

>>
>>6271243
single set of 5 zords.
>>
>>6271196
SRC looks much closer to me. Minipla's upper body is way too wide and head is too small. When I look at the SRC I see an idealized version of the suit. When I look at the minipla I see the old toy.
>>
>>6271267
I'm just saying though, that SRC is...QUITE idealized. To the point where it doesn't resemble the original show suit proportionally even a little bit.

For the record, I do like the SRC best, I think it's very aesthetically appealing. But again, saying it's anything like the show suit is wildly inaccurate.
>>
The SRC actually looks a lot more like the show suit than I thought..but I still like the minipla proportions better.

If only the SRC split into individual zords, or the minipla had a paint job and some more to it

Saba looks cool and the electronics are nice but I hate the diecast. It's poorly distributed, resulting in him being very unbalanced, and there's just far too much of it. I imagine it'd be particularly problematic if you were to get a holster made and tried to wear it on a belt. He also doesn't feel terribly sturdy if you swing him, even lightly. I'm really tempted to take him apart and recast the diecast parts in plastic.

I never got why the made american specific versions of Power Ranger Action Figures. With the RP shit they rebrand the SS merch except with different sound effects or English lettering which makes sense, but why spend the effort to make entirely new sculpts for the action figures when you already have the preexisting SS figures? I mean if Saban was all about cutting costs why did they put the effort for such a minor thing?

They haven't done that in years. Same goes for Zords. It's apparently cheaper for them to make their own versions, which are generally lacking in features.

>when you already have the preexisting SS figures?
They generally don't. Japan has never been big on Ranger figures. A lot of the time all they get are vinyls with 3 POA. Some Japanese figures have been imported over the years, but they were usually pack ins with vehicles.

Bandai used to do that. The 8'' tall ranger figures that saw use from MMPR to around In Space or so was based off a Japanese mold used mostly for reds starting in the 80's. The vehicle rider figures from the 90's where also usually based off Chogokin Sentai figures.

As for why Bandai did original figures, the US marketing really emphasized the civilian identities(especially early on, where you had posters and toys and the like where the Rangers where called by the character's name..I think the first cast shake-up made them a bit more careful with that). So bandai America probably wanted figures that could mesh well with that. Japan even had a few morphing figures later on.

As for the aesthetic differences, i.e. the muscled ranger figures we saw around Turbo and ever since, you can blame that on them trying to imitate domestic superhero lines. And while there are Japanese sentai figures, most of them now are vinyl, which hasn't really done well in the US.

>second installment of flagship series so expectations are high
>long haired lady man is team leader
>the real alpha leader returns and takes a secondary while important role (Jason)
>best opening theme of the series
>worst received of the first few installments (it had the lowest ratings of the 90s rangers)
>>
>>6274825

>>
>>6274733
Same. Lost galaxy was my all time favorite. I'm hoping we get them and magna defender
>>
>>6274815
If I'm not mistaken Ohranger had the civilian head morph figures for Red, Blue, and Green.

Likely because they were such strong sellers in America. As a kid those were THE Power Rangers figures to have and both Japan and America like to test waters with what does well on the other side of the ocean from time to time.

The best answer to the question though is that America is more an action figure heavy market. They needed action figures to flesh the line out.

>>6274829
Ohranger is the most successful Sentai off all time toy-sale wise. Even with inflation factored in that show dominated toy sales. Ratings were in the shitter but toysales were at an all time high. Fiveman is the real Sentai killer in Japan, with Jetman being the savior.
>>
>>6274885
Kakuranger got head flips first, for the entire team. They were very similar to the MMPR ones. Then Ohranger got them for everyone but Kingranger. Since then some series have gotten cheaper, candy toy versions, such as Megaranger.

Supposedly the novelization of the movie explains the combination a bit more, I've heard. You know how Alpha mentions that the Zords assume the form of the most powerful organisms on the planet? Well apparently, they're scanning Goldar during the fight, and when they're pushed into the pit, they're less traditionally "combining" and more fusing their mass together and adapting to Goldar; mirroring his shape.

Who knows if they can even split up into Dinos anymore? Maybe that'll be the reason for a re-design. They have to scan new animals now.
