>-Legacy 6.5 inch Metallic MMPR with Weapons (Red, Black, Blue, Yellow, Pink)

This got pushed to the fall? I thought it was going to be summer.
>>
>>6244944
According to Grnrngr's site it's part of the fall assortment. He's been doing this a long time and is anal about putting out false info so I trust him. Though fall assortment stuff often ends up coming out during the summer, so that's probably why the Bandai person said summer off the cuff.
>>
I was going to buy some, but then I saw how badly disproportionate these figures are

fuck you Bandai for cancelling the Figuarts line
>>
What scales best with the Figuarts?
>>
>>6244990
The 6.5 are way too big. The 5 inch are too small.

The original 5.5" scale which ran from 94 to 2009. Though of those only the Super Legends will really fit in because they were collector oriented figures with more natural proportions.

Wtf? Why would they make the MMPR Megazord, which specifically caters to the US market, and then not release it in the US? Are we sure Bluefin isn't releasing it here?
>>
>>6245591

Model kits sell better in Japan. Why do you think it took Bandai as long as it did to get gunpla back on US shelves? No one wanted it.

They're up-to-date from Magiranger onward, no reason to not go back and start putting out previous entries. There's a reason they picked Zyuranger for MMPR, you know. It was popular in Japan.

Zyuranger wasn't the first series Saban tried to bring to America. He'd been trying for years and no one would bite. A pilot even exists for a Bioman adaptation starring Mark Dacascos as Red. Zyu being chosen had nothing to do with it's performance in Japan. It was simply the first Sentai that an American network was responsive to because Dinosaurs were hot at the time thanks to Jurassic Park.

If you think they just happened to arbitrarily choose Zyu out of all the pre-Magi sentais without taking the western market into account you're dellusional.
>>
>>6245756
Then why is it not readily available to Westerners through a means more convenient than importing?
>>
>>6245760
That's the exact fucking question I was asking. It wouldn't make any sense. That's why I find it hard to believe Bluefin isn't gonna distribute it here. Especially in light of Dragonzord, the western demand for this thing is gonna be big.
>>
>>6245771
So your entire argument is weighted on "why isn't this happening".

Colour me convinced.

>>6245771
It's not that difficult of a concept to grasp.
Because there's no market for "expensive" candy toys/gasha/trading figures here compared to Japan.
Do you honestly believe that most people that already buy legacy zords and shit are going to drop $40-$50 on a set of model kits or $8-$10 for one tiny zord that comes with a tiny piece of gum based on nostalgia alone?
Why would they jump into something they don't have any experience with and would complain night and day on their forums about how they have to put stickers on it and how it doesn't look 100% accurate because they have to paint in some extra details when they could just get a legacy or just pick up the SoC that is also releasing in the same month and would make a better display piece for the extra dough.
Maybe you would buy this, but would the rest of the average western fans actually buy them? No, they wouldn't. Not even nostalgia can make them buy this when they have other options and I don't believe that Bandai of America is dumb enough to take the risk. Those that would get this already preordered months ago knowing full well what they are getting into and because there wouldn't be another chance to get a 6 inch Daizyujin that combines(unless they end up repacking it in a set with the dragonzord).
I can already see the western fans complaining about them not just making a fully painted/detailed 6inch scale combiner instead, so that they wouldn't have to build it themselves without actually realizing there would be a jump in price.
>>
>>6245859
The SOC is around $300 and the Legacy is no longer available (aftermarket prices are well over $100), so neither are comparable. And as someone who owns the Legacy this is still very appealing to me because of the scale. If little kids can build Lego sets there's no reason adults should have any trouble putting one of these together. You make it seem like the western world are retards.

Regarding the price, the $40+ MMPR figuarts sold extremely well, so $40+ for a transforming Megazord in the same relative scale is perfectly reasonable.

And tell me why they would have chosen this series out of all the other sentais if it wasn't trying to cash in on MMPR nostalgia? Because as I already said there's much more popular series in Japan they could have revisited. I'll be genuinely shocked if these don't get a western release.
>>
>>6245859
>would the rest of the average western fans actually buy them?
If they want a cheap transforming Megazord they would. This isn't a bad alternative for those who didn't want to spend $80 on a Legacy. The 6 inch scale would also be appealing to a lot of people.
>>
>>6244919
Fuck. Only way to get the weapons meant for the figures is to shell out another $100 and get the ugly metallic forms?

And they still don't have the blaster in blaster mode?

What a crock of shit, Bandai.
>>
>>6245832
Way too big. What the fuck were they thinking?

>>
>>6245756
Also, I should note that Zyu had Saban actually coming up with an actual pitch (outright selling it to Fox by way of describing it as "Save By the Bell Kids meet Voltron").

Those BAFs look like absolute shit, I'm really glad I didn't start picking up the Legacy figures like I originally planned.
>>
>>6246170
The BaFs really are pretty poor. Best thing to do would be to wait until they release the ones without BaF pieces but their weapons instead. Not sure how they are even releasing these without their weapons. Also sad that the MMPR weapons won't even be able to combine when the 5" ones can.
>>
>>6246170
I think Astro and Ninja Storm look good, but those legs on MMPR... Why are they so fucking stylized? They look awful. Closed fists on iS/NS is bullshit too. People could have at least made/scavenged those accessories if Bandai wasn't going to.
>>

I don't know what their problem is with Zhane. He's very cheap compared to other 6ths as he's basically a repaint of the core males, yet they keep ignoring him. It's especially mind boggling considering how popular In Space is. They chose to make the fucking ball of light Omega Ranger in the 5 inch line but not Zhane?! Even during the In Space line they only ever released a standard Silver Ranger figure in a six pack of figures people already had, and his Super Megaforce key was only available with a 20 key morpher set. Why does Bandai hate Zhane so much?

where did the extra Lion Zord come from, also kinda surprised you don't have one of those set up in the Assault Team configuration, also you should really have one Tiger Zord set up in Tiger mode and one in Warrior mode instead of all three in Ultra mode

also quick question for this thread, anyone know when Bandai of America switched from just using the Sentai molds(with the occasional minor modification) for the Zords to making their own crappy molds, cause I'm thinking about getting some Zords and I need to know which ones I'd be better off just going with the Sentai versions instead(even if I have to pay more)

The deal breaker for me is paint/mould quality, a fuckton of accessories and humane proportions. While some figs of BoA are surely nice (especially since they got more teams covered than figuarts), they hardly compare in terms of mould quality.
The huge pricetag results from import costs or/and aftermarket scalping, although most PR/Sentai shfs p much bombed aside from MMPR.

I know Turboranger and Fiveman got some in that scale and Gaoranger/ Wild Force had a few in a Korean (?) release. I just always wondered if there were more than the two Time Force guys or any other full teams.

So she's sofubi? Haven't there been more than a few villains made in that format?

I thought I remembered at least some villains from Toqqer done in some format. I cant remember if they were to scale with anything.

ToQ and Ninnin had some as candy toys. They're 4" scale, basically exactly the same as the 4" Samurai and Megaforce figures (which I loved but everyone else hates). Unfortunately they stopped last year, and I doubt there will be any this year. They probably won't even make all the Kyurangers in this scale (I fully expect Washi Pink will get skipped).

I really don't understand Bandai's insistence on having rangers only come with parts for their specific megazord. It makes collecting these things really irritating. You're always going to have an incomplete megazord figure.
>>

Obviously its on purpose to sell more cases, it would have made too much sense to have all the MMPR and all In Space characters in the same wave. That or blame Ninja Storm for only doing red, blue and yellow and not making the thunder rangers.

I just started collecting these because of the articulation and size. Now I won't even get a Green Samurai Ranger? :/
>>
>>6254322
That's just speculation fueled by the rumor the line's not doing great from Bandai's perspective.
>>
>>6254035
>my Walmart is choking on at least three dozen of the shitty first wave sets.
I was afraid this would happen. It's a great idea for a line, but straight up re-releases dooms it to fail. If the next wave makes it to stores it will do better, but MMPR and Dino Charge will sell instantly, leaving rows of Samurai and Megaforce packs to collect dust.

Bandai has the parts to make a lot of unreleased Rangers for cheap, so they really should have done that with the other packs. If the Samurai pack was Lauren instead of Jayden I wouldn't be able to give Bandai my money fast enough despite the pack in villain not making sense (and already owning it). I'd have also bought the Megaforce pack despite the out of scale Loogie if it were Megaforce Black, Blue, Yellow, or Pink in place of Robo Knight (which I already have 2 of thanks to another multipack).

At least the movie packs seem to be selling, so we shouldn't have any trouble getting the Rita wave.

>the rumor the line's not doing great from Bandai's perspective.
Not really a rumor, Bandai has acknowledged there's problems with the line and will be making changes to try to salvage it. Personally I feel like it's a lost cause and they should just cut their losses. Everything about it was poorly conceived, from the scale, to the sculpts, to the BaF over weapons. If they start giving weapons over a BaF (which they're looking to do) you're left with some teams having a Megazord and some having weapons. If they start doing more realistic sculpts (something else they've mentioned) you're left with some teams being roided up/giant tits tiny waist, and others looking normal. It's a mess. Just go back to the 5 inch triangle box legacy releases, those figures were much better recieved and it makes more sense to have one cohesive scale.
>>
>>6254382
I'd much prefer they go back to 5" too, but I think it's far more likely that they'll just say, "well, we tried making figures of older Rangers and people just weren't interested," and that'll be it for five or ten years. (Except for MMPR, MMPR will constantly be rehashed forever.)
>>
>>6254382
I bought the White and Pink movie figures and I didn't like them at all. I got mine at deep clearance too, I can't imagine paying the full $15 asking price. At least at $20 you get probably the best articulated mass market figure in stores right now.
>>
>>6254382
>>6254420

>>6254545
They said the weapons won't combine.

>>6254705
No.
>>
>>6254420
Sad but true. Big companys rarely take the time to realize why something failed, they just assume there's no market for it. I think if they just continued the 5 inch triangle box releases into MMAR and Zeo the line would be doing much better right now. Asking people who recently bought fifty 5" Rangers to start over in a new scale rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, and it eliminated cross over appeal between the Legacy and main lines.
>>
>>6254382
>>6254420
I appreciate the range they've done at 5'' scale and they've gotten better, but man they just aren't satisfying figures to me at all. They have, at best, what I call "flailing" articulation; where-in their arms and legs are decent, but the lack of good head and torso articulation hurts actually selling poses.
>>

>>

>toys of any kind

>>
>>6255003
>torso articulation
Never understood the point personally. I prefer not having it because it always ruins the aesethic. Especially on suits like these where it often breaks up designs. Being able to arch a back or do a crunch isn't worth that in my book. I do wish the 5 inch figures had ball heads though. The 95 movie figures do and they're great, so I don't see why the rest don't.

You need a Titanus, I'm going to assume that's on your shopping list.
Find a way to stand that coin on the second shelf up.
Maybe you could get one of those replicas of the Ninjette coin or whatever it was called, from the movie, with all the spirit animals on it for the third shelf. Or get a good doll stand and put it in an action pose.
Hide your wires a bit better, fix them to the corners and bound them together with bread ties or something.

Very good so far, though.

I just got my legacy green ranger in the mail and I love him. Great value for a $20 figure, sucks that they cost almost 3 times that much now. Still, it almost makes me wanna shell out for a legacy red to go with him. Should I go for it or wait for the metallic ones?
>>
>>6256914
wait for the metallic one, red not coming with his sword seriously limits posing, and they've improved the joint system since he was originally released so the joints on the metallic version will not be as loose I would imagine. Although I did just get the 2017 movie red ranger and none of his joints are ratcheted like the MMPR blue and black so I don't know what to tell you.

Am I a bad person for liking the ridiculous beef of the 2014'ish Megaforce 8 inch armored Red/Green/White rangers as opposed to the legacy sculpt?

That sculpt is the epitome of muscle rangers but it just seems like it just works better due to their proportions and actually looks appealing. Legacy sculpts to me are weird. They're muscular and lanky at the same time. Like they couldn't decide if they wanted to do muscle rangers or accurate sculpts and did a little of both and it doesn't work.

Something else that worked for me was actually tweeting at the company.
Took a pick of Target's bare ass shelves in the TF section, tweeted it to them. They wanted to know which store so I told them.

Wouldn't you know it, a couple days later they get in a huge stock of TF stuff and go from 90% empty to about 40%.

Of course, the nearby store is still empty as hell, so you have to bitch about each one individually, I guess.

That's a cool story. I would have figured your account would have gone unheard. Me and some other 1:18 star wars fans went autsistic and left notes on the pegs during 2012 to no avail. Stock wasn't changing and some places never saw newer waves because of pegwarmers clogging the shelves.

I've also worked for TRU and still don't know who does the ordering. If it's the GMs/AMs or the warehouse themselves. Also theft really does mess up with the numbers; if the computer says 38 of a SKU but there's only 16 of that item out on the shelves, then the retailer is stuck with something that doesn't seem to be selling.

Why is Bandai being so fucking stingy lately? They expect people who have the originals to buy these for one friggin accessory? I'd say your only option with the movie figs is finding the least expensive scalper listings. Or wait for a lucky restock at your local TRU. Try a website called mercari. It's like eBay only people are sometimes much more reasonable

I'd wait til metallic releases for MMPR though. Just be diligent with it and snag them asap when they release

There's no plans currently. It's possible they might in the future. It's also possible the line dies before that happens.

The other reason why I like legacymore is because they're new, get stuff like quantum, titanum, and silver in that scale might be hard
>>
>>6263859
Well those are exclusive to Walmart so that may be why. Whether you go 5 inch or Legacy they won't fit with your existing stuff. Only figuarts will mesh with 6 inch displays, but good luck getting those, and it's a dead line so no hope of getting unmade Rangers/teams. You can at least get a 5 inch Quantum and Titanium on the aftermarket right now, whereas there's no guarantee Legacy will ever make it to those teams.
