Considering how much more coherent of a colorscheme he has and the fact that he's made from 6 sets as opposed to Kardas's 3 I'd say he takes the cake as best combiner.

Not to mention, building him was more of a challenge and fun ecperience for me because of the lack of instructions for him at the time.

I like the combiner but it's fucking impossible to pose. Waaaayyy too much weight in the torso, legs are really stiff, barely any articulation in the thighs, almost impossible to even move them without parts being shoved off. Due to this, it's practically impossible to display him in anything other than a neutral standing pose. The staff's action feature is a work of ART though.

Honestly I agree with this advice. Sometimes if you don't have something quite in mind, maybe just start putting things together and just adjust it as you go. That's how a lot of my MOCs go, I don't really start with much of an idea, and often times they change as I put things together and think of new ways to look at the parts.

The reason behind that is that I can just imagine the TTV crew being circlejerked tenfold and heralded as the saviors of the fandoms' spirit because of this. Like, it's nothing special. You could also bring in the Exo-Toa or even Titans like Axonn as regular ten-dollar sets because CCBS makes them so much bigger than the minifigs

I never had any bionicle in my entire life. had hormones at high levels when the first wave came out that i barely noticed them.
2 weeks ago I stumbled in some 2016 bionicles and got one just because I could.
Couldnt stop, got hooked hard and im basically getting a new one every 2 days.
I even tried to watch the series on netflix but its incredibly bad and could only go so far trough the recap episode and 5 minutes into the first episode.
Im thinking on getting the whole 2016 line and then buy 3-5 more to have some pieces to build my own bionicle.
that said: what did I miss? what should I know? are there good satellite media(i think ive read somewhere there are graphic novels)that are worth getting into? Are there any good source of bionicle pieces or should I stick buying 2016 sets duplicates?

For G2 anon, the graphic novels are the best source of lore you can get your mits on. There is also some novels but the first is essentially the first graphic novel just with continuity errors (since none of the G2 media was never really consistant with itself)

So if I were you, I'd get the graphic novels and the second and third novels for the G2 lore. As for parts, if you like the CCBS system try hunting down old Hero Factory or Chima Ultrabuild sets for cheap. As well as any 2015 Bionicle sets if you can.

Yeah so this has inspired me to spiral into my own year 3/G3 idea. It's system like what they've got going on, but the idea is based off of the fake 2016 ghost rumors we had in circulation way back. Basically Makuta is an ancient evil and the underworld and ghosts are spilling over and the Toa have to stop him. I figured a good generic enemy would be the Skreemers from Ninjago, since they have the possession thing going on like the krana and skull spiders.

Well I just meant like I'm personally just making a little diorama for my own little G3. I'm making custom minifigs of the Toa and I thought the Skreemers made good enemies because of the play feature.

Makuta I'm just going to use the Necromancer minifig as the base with Hela's helmet and cape from the upcoming Thor sets.

I dunno. It's just me trying to make something interesting and frankly CCBS mocs take up too much space so this system G3 idea has been pretty engaging for me.

Not really G3, but My own G2 ideas is sort of a Shadow of the Colossus stuff. Makuta and the Skullfucker army are attacking other Lego worlds, with Ekimu the only heroic Bionicle figure. The rest are normal minifig characters battling against the giants.

I think this would have made G2 more successful as well as a better way to combine system with Bionicle. The Skullfuckers look scary against normal minifigs like Ninjago or Nexo Knights but rather pathetic against the normal Toa.

Not really, Though ever since it was revealed that G2 would be dropping most of the names and terms, and finding the main six sets to be too big and expensive to be considered affordable collectables for 10 year olds i did decide to make my own version of G2, with a new build system that kinda looks like CCBS except if you make smaller (like original 2001 Toa size) figures they won't look like klunky toddlers. after that i sorta started combining the plots of G1 and G2, jumbling around the events a bit to make it work while keeping some of my favourite stuff from G1 intact (Bohrok, Rakshi) and getting rid of the (in my opinion) unnecesary ideas, such as the makuta being an entire species, or single-sex matoran, with the main six species 5 being mono-male, and only one female. so in my G2 you can have your spunky and hot-headed Ta-Matoroan girl or the wise and calm Ga-Matoran guy.

I was already 15 when the Glatorian Legends came out, but I still feel very nostalgic for them, especially since they (and Bara Magna in general) captured so well what I love the most about Bionicle, that is robots in nature. And of course, being the last true wave of G1 makes them even more charming and melancholic.

Can the majority of us agree that G2 had outstanding sets, a story with a huge potential and it failed solely because LEGO treated it like shit?

G2 had decent sets, although I think aesthetically early Bionicle looked a lot better than HFshit with a couple new parts and some technic here and there. And the line ABSOLUTELY failed due to how it was handled, with TLG intentionally keeping people who worked with G1 away from the project to "keep it fresh", general lack of budget/quality control, and dumbing down of the line from the sets to the story.

I think that the charm of the G1 pieces (not only those from early years, especially since many of theme were used up until 2009/2010) can't be beaten. That's OG Bionicle school, the pistons, the character, the endless possibilities given by a Technic-heavy system. You can't build a Tahtorak with CCBS, for sure not as cool as the classic one. And don't get me started on titans (Brutaka's upper legs are so refined we'll never see something like that again).

On the other hand, tho, CCBS looks good and G2 made me like it a lot, especially with the new add-ons, the Protector build and a stronger use of Techinc-based build.

There's one on /m/ now and /v/ has big Bonkle threads on an irregular basis. Other places too probably, but those are the ones I saw recently.

Yeah, the posts mostly boil down to nostalgiafagging and former non-hardcore fans asking random shit.

So I finally caved in and got Grievous for about 24€ after abusing some discounts.

Sure, he's big and imposing but I can't help but feel he's bit barren. The legs, while ironically being the most complex part, are so empty. There's ball joints and Technic holes up the ass. I also can't seem to find a way to pose him, the articulation on arms is bit stiff. He's good, but I'd still say Vader or K2SO is my favourite ultrabuild.

Overall, he's cool but man am I glad I didn't pay full price

Yeah his built is a bit bare-bones, especialy in the torso. I am also extremely annoyed by the wrong number of claws on his foot they gave him, he has four dammit. two facing forward, two facing back, not three facing forward.
I've been messing around with him in LDD to fix some parts, added moveable chest armor so you could pull them aside to expose his organs, except there's no space for his organs within the chest so I think I have to redo the entire thing from scratch.
I added the collar thing to represent the neck armour, very wip of course, not really happy with it.
And then some tweaks in the legs as well as gave him some poseable fingers.

Yes I know some of those parts aren't available in those colours, that's just me having some fun with it. I also plan on at one point having his cape made, complete with lightsabre holders. if I ever get around to fixing him up irl as well of course.

True. I don't live in US though, so here even at its peak Bionicle seemed like "just another toyline". Usually I felt like a fucking weirdo for browsing forums and delving into the lore.

So I've been trying to replicate this dope moc, I managed to get the head right after one day of breaking my own against a wall but I definitely can't get over the clusterfuck of illegal techniques that are used on some parts, anyone have a clue on how the body is made? Also how the fuck do you snap this leg hf system decoration armor over the other two armor parts?

That was exactly my plan.
Here's Onuwa, like Tahu, he's still in a bit of a wip state, only this time I have to actualy order the parts I need first instead of simply waiting for one I already placed. I plan to at one point give him thumbs. I'm not going to make all his fingers poseable though, I want to use his iconic claws.
Unfortunately, the nuva shoulderpads don't come in green and brown I think so I'm gonna have to figure something out about that for Lewa and Pohatu...

This hurts. It really does. Old purple is my favourite color, and now I know for a fact I only have one spare that isn't used in Slizers or Nui-Jaga.
