>>
>>6231244
Take this with a massive grain of salt, but from what I understand it's basically a timed retail exclusive, possibly for target. The usual online sellers can't actually take preorders until april, and I have no idea how long it'll take after that.

The same thing is allegedly happening with the new transformers wave and wal-mart. I haven't been able to confirm anything, but there's definitely something up with the way the gotg wave online preorders got pushed back by two months and then showed up in stores two weeks later.

>All these great figures coming out when Marvel is at it's lowest point in terms of creative output and goodwill

Why even buy your favorite characters when you know they'll never be cool ever again?
>>

It was the same way with the Juggernaut wave (which I happily paid for). Couldn't find it locally ANYWHERE. Now all of the sudden it's all I can find....

Oh great its a frank autist that explains it.
>>
>>6231256
>still reading current comics
I could ask you the same question. Why bother when they'll (probably) never be as good again?
>>
>>6231256
I buy figures so that the characters can always be cool to me. Every character and franchise is destined to be bastardized. Every time I want to remind myself of a favorite character apart from a toy display, its a comic or a movie which is written or portrayed as someone else's perspective of that character.
They can do whatever they want to the characters, but they can't take my figures which remind me of them as they were when I liked them.
>>
>>6231277
No one reads them anyways
>>
>>6231256
Because I'm never going to get a chance at a good Darkhawk figure ever again.
>>
>>6231259
I think that's just the normal saturation that hits after a wave's been out for a while. I preordered a juggernaut case and I got it pretty much the week after people here were saying they found it in the wild.

The most recent couple waves definitely seem like there's deliberate fuckery going on.

Same, plus maybe shatterstar. I already got a cyke so I don't really have that burning need anymore, I'll finish warlock whenever the rest of them get cheap.

It's actually kind of nice to not give a shit about most of a wave for once.

I reached out to my usual online retailer & while they didn't say the X-Men wave was exclusive to Target he said that Hasbro had NOT solicited them for orders at the time but 'hopefully soon'.

Legends shelf-warmers fill me with dread. There are so many Marvel guys I still want and also characters I would buy in multiples such as Ultron and Iron Man.
Never saw a Movie Ronan, Yellow jacket, Malekith. Thank you Hasbro....
No movie Vision either...
>>6231599
>That Vision was a eyesore.
I understand you can't do every cool one at once but they do seem to reaching for every miscellaneous character. I won't buy multiples of Captain or Wolverine unless they are from different universes.
That Strange line was god-awful although I did get a Cumberbatch. Got Lady Deadpool and Maestro the other day.
Is it possible to make less amounts of miscellaneous characters so they don't burn out retail stores? I ordered the Space Venom line a month and half ago and have yet to see it in stores.

I've recently developed an addiction of buying Toy Biz Legends on eBay.

Why are these so superior to Hasbro Legends?
>>
>>6232514
Occasionally using unique sculpts helps.
>>
>>6232514
The past few waves of Hasbro Legends have been better than anything Toybiz produced imho, especially females.
>>
>>6232514
What Toy Biz figures have you bought recently? I miss the giant BAFs and the sculpts and paint. However whenever Hasbro redoes a TB figure I generally prefer it (with a few exceptions)
>>
>>6232514
They're not. Not to say they're bad by any means, and that there aren't any good figures Hasbro either hasn't gotten around to remaking or did but didn't do as good a job on, but Hasbro now is overall better than Toybiz for the most part, aside from the occasional miss and some questionable reuses of molds that should have been retired ages ago. If Toybiz were still around, I imagine their quality would be leagues ahead of where Hasbro is now, but they're not and Hasbro has definitely caught up with and surpassed where Toybiz was at when they went defunct.

Well a real pizza spidey is like 60$ new. I have heard the bootleg pizza is fine. I was considering picking one up for the hands and extras to use on my Raft spidey.

Please post a review.
>>
>>6232915
It won't be here for awhile unfortunately. I got an automated reply about shipping to Canada taking awhile and them not being able to send it until like April-June.

Speaking of dates, when do you think they'll start releasing the Spidey movie wave?

I'm with you on this. I was gleefully buying Wolverine, Collossus and Beast from the old ML and when Nightcrawler finally appeared I was pretty bummed to see that he got a giant cleft chin when what I was really hoping for was closer to the John Bryne era. Sure he's got some sort of cleft chin but the ML really made his face look more like Banshee.
>>
>>6233312

That's why I liked the old Toy Biz Five inch toys since you could clearly see the artists rendition in a lot of the figures like Bart Sears and Art Adams. I wish they'd still do that.
>>
>>6233319

That was great. You could easily just look at a figure and go oh, that's Quesada - oh, that's Madureira, and so on.

Even though modern stuff blows them out of the water, I still kinda love the 5 inch stuff from like 93-96. Before they started getting randomly huge and stuck in weird poses.

My Nightcrawler just arrived yesterday, he is easily in my top 5 Legends ever. I don't hate the headsculpt near as much as I thought I would. Also don't hold out hope for Hasbro to do one anytime soon it would require completely new parts so they couldn't just slap a new head on Bucky Cap and call it a day for the thousandth time.

Is the new Drax better than the old one? I have the new Star-Lord and it's made out of a way better plastic than the first Gummies of the Galaxy one. That whole wave was made of really soft plastic but Drax is the same mold so is it made with a harder plastic?

I honestly don't even buy US comics for the stories anymore... Really am just buying it for fav pencillers... Don't care a single bit about House of M but I liked Olivier Coipel's art on it, wished he was drawing X-Men in their 90's costumes instead... Bought this run of super silly Wolverine Enemy of the State or something where Hydra or something brainwashes him and he turns evil... Basically bought that for Romita Jr. art. Really, the only time I ever bought US comics for the story was Weapon X and that's shit that came out before I even knew how to read really.

I do wish there was a good Romita Jr. Spider-Man figure or a good Wieringo Ben Reilly Spider-Man.

Mine has an issue at the base of the tail. It was too stiff, so it's broken or about to break through the plastic and so I have to be extra careful posing it, and pose around the base.

>>
>>6233639
A new sculpt that with minor tooling they can reuse over and over again for Logan's and various other short stocky characters. A new Nightcrawler body can only be used for Nightcrawler.
>>
>>6233754
>A new Nightcrawler body can only be used for Nightcrawler.
Disagree. They would use a skinny buck and swap the parts out at the shin swivels and wrist swivels to give him the 3 toes and fingers. New tail and head pieces too, but they will definitely not use an entire new body just for nightcrawler

Come now, this is hasbro we're talking about--same company that has used one mold for 60% of their figures. No way they'll give someone--nightcrawler or otherwise--a unique mold that can only be used for one character
>>
>>6233754
>A new Nightcrawler body can only be used for Nightcrawler.
I mean, it'd vary depending on what costume they went with, but I don't think it'd need that many new parts.

>new head. I'm not even sure if I should even count that
>new upper torso with the shoulderpads
>new hands
>new feet, maybe new shins if they wanna get fancy and do his boots
>tail

The upper torso part could be reused for a male version of the uniform we got with kitty pryde too. The hands, feet, and tail are the only parts that'd be unique to him. Considering costs are budgeted per-wave and there presumably wouldn't be any 100% unique movie figures to worry about, he's actually pretty easy.

There's a line of Chinese Civil War figures that are on a bigger scale than Legends which includes a movie Vision.

This Vision ends up being shorter than Legends Thor, which seems close to how they were in the movies. He's alright with nice molded details all over including the front and back of his cape.

Sadly he would be a giant next those Figuarts figures.

I feel the same way about the red armor. I wouldn't use it, but the skull shirt seems more appropriate than the white armor. And the guns, my god, the guns. I have both Punisher & Daredevil, and have to say that the articulation is seriously lacking when compared to ML. It's not so bad for Frank as he isn't a dynamic character, but Daredevil is more acrobatic and it's hard to get him in a satisfying pose. The ankles are terribly bad, but the accessories are really cool; at $80 I expect more.

There's more articulation in the Mezco figures. The ankles are the only inferior aspect.

It's a misnomer on /toy/.

What he's talking about is its poseability.

The clothes gets in the way of the joints and makes it harder to pose, despite being better articulated.
Like with my Punisher, i was able to get him to pose perfectly with his rifle, but the stretchy clothes would make the limbs pull back after i realized them.

So they're far more poseable than any ML and even Figuarts, but the clothes is a draw back.

Morrigan's outfit is similar iirc but everything else is off. I distinctly remember the white hair and skin and there was no bat motif or fur on the costume at all. This is really bugging me and any help you guys can provide is appreciated.

This figure is honestly pretty great. His articulation could be better, but he's very detailed. And the hands being able to open and close is a nice touch, even if he doesn't have a wrist swivel.

I just find that with getting the punisher to shoulder the rifle to aim has his arms going back a mm everytime.
It could just be the clothes being bunched up and hten push as it decompresses, but there is definitely a little pull back, which has me exaggerating the pose to make it look normal when i let go.
Takes a bit of practice to get it just right, but they are more poseable than your average ML/Figuart/DCC/NECA/etc

pic is an example of how it kept pulling down. It's slightly off the mark and yet, most lines aren't able to even do this.

do what? /not/ hold a weapon properly? most lines do that just fine.

actually have their eye look down the sight.
Almost everyone cheats and just keeps the head to the side, so it kinda looks like they're looking down it.

I'm the guy who bought a Joey Mercury-in-a-suit WWE figure and put Hammerhead's head on it to so he'd look more imposing. Worked out pretty good, and i plan on buying the upcoming Tombstone figure and doing the same with Jamie Noble but a thought occurs. What would you be willing to pay for a Crusher Hogan figure? I'm thinking calm head, yelling head, Dazzler's mic, fist hands, gripping hands, a pointing hand, a chopping hand, and a brown briefcase. Include the BAF torso if there's a value issue. Pic related:where the briefcase comes from. Car trunk not included lol

For the record, I contacted BBTS about the Warlock wave and got the same story. Hasbro just hasn't solicited the wave for them. It's the same with the Transformers Titans Return Wave 4. They're still waiting for Hasbro to offer it. They're not allowed to take orders for anything that they're not solicited so technically they can't even start to accept orders without taking a penalty.

You're best bet is just to wait it out.

Yeah, but I don't like the actual figure and couldn't find the stand for sale by itself.

Nope, it's one of those shitty stands they pack in with some of the Play Arts Kai figures that I had laying around. I would never recommend them but I needed a flight stand and I refuse to pay very much for stands that are just going to display a $20 figure.

He really is. It's a shame some people are so dead against Toy Biz that they won't even consider him. The cape is somewhat annoying but the rest of him is almost perfect.

>>6235095
>Is there any other Toy Biz figure I should pick up?

Beast of course. He's still the best ML ever released.

I would also recommend Bishop. He's a pretty solid, and hefty, figure. He looks great in a 90's X-Men display. Mister Sinister, Mojo..are all good.

As for non x-characters...Werewolf By Night is a really great figure from the MONSTERS 4 pack. Doctor Octopus from Wave 8 and Classics Scorpion are good for your Spidey display.
>>
>>6235095
>>6235120
I find monsters/ big guys are better by Toy Biz. Women (especially teen girls) and mid-range guys are generally better by Hasbro.

Its really hard to go wrong with Toy Biz's Marvel Legends/Classics style Things, Hulks, Beasts etc. Generally there's a "best" version you should look into first, but even the gimmicky one are still fun. There's also one-offs like Manthing, Sasquatch, Maestro Hulk, Spider-Hulk, Mecha hulk, and more that are great.
>>
>>6233813
Beast, Vermin, and Man-Wolf are the obvious ones.

Of course, my secret hope is they're working on the accessory character of a giant box set / baf.

Man-Thing is the only Toybiz Legend I have. I want him to get a Select at some point, but until that happens the old Legends is good.

It's not so bad on Frank, but on Daredevil, the clothing is really restrictive. I thought the ML was too bare bones and I thought that the Mezco was gonna be leagues better, but it's only slightly better. Like I can't get him to do a handstand and the stands are really bulky. I will say that the accessories are really cool and he does look great; I'm just not sure Daredevil is worth $80.
>>
>>6235166
What completrly killed any interest in Mezco Daredevil for me was the ugly, excessive redesign. DD has one of the best costumes in comics, and the simplicity of it has been used to amazing effect. The Mezco one just looks sort of generic.

Midnight Sons all looked passably human and were made of leftover supporting characters from 70's horror comics.

The Howling Commandos latest version is mostly made up of MONSTERS from Marvel's 70's comics.

>>6234671
No, they were full sized figures. IIRC were Toybiz figures, but pre-marvel legends articulation

>>6234970
No, I definitely remember the mystery figure being as described. I know the figure exists because I found it during again later while moving and gave it to a kid in my neighborhood.

>>6235276
She looks similar. The hair was like that 90s pseudo curly(Think Xmen cartoon Rouge's hair minus headband), and the outfit was definitely reminiscent of the above posted morrigan, just no bat wings at all or fur on the arm things.

I dunno if this was a fuck up at Toybiz's factory or what. But I definitely remember the figure being as described because I got it in my sister's college town mall and all her friends were making a big to do over how revealing the outfit was. Also as stated around 7 years later I found the mystery figure again in the bottom of an old box of my stuff. I didn't really see the need in keeping it cause it was old and dated so I gave it away. Now when I'm trying to prove to a friend this fucker exists, there is no record of this figure existing at all lmao.

New X-Men by Morrison like >>6236321 said. I was lucky enough to get the Omnibus off of Amazon when it was super cheap. It's different than the X-Men you're used to but goddamn it's amazing. It actually immediately precedes Astonishing so read it first if you intend to pick it up.
