The creeping Amazon/Ebay price on GG vol2, Sandman BAF and newly Xmen wave is making me anxious.

I know last year all the figures were readily available and at one point or another got discounted to 13-15 dollar range. Is it prudent to still wait off for sales? I mostly just want Black suit spidey, Cyclops, and Angela but I'd take Starlord and friends for bargain price too
>>
>>6223173
Chris Pratt is shelf warming all over my TRU.

Its going to happen one way or another the movie isn't out yet and its going to be clog filled eventually.

I plan to return my Drax and Starlord today.
>>
>>6223176
Has your TRU received the Warlock wave yet?
>>
>>6223173
I wouldn't worry about Black Suit. He's double packed.

I'm glad me and my buddy were able to find the full sandman wave twice. On the other hand I only ever saw the Space Venom wave once.
>>
>>6223173
>>6223176
If Star-Lord winds up going down to bargain-basement prices, I'll pick up several. It's a solid body with a jacket, a masked head, interesting guns, and is beefy enough to look OK as a "thug" with some headswaps.

>>6223155

I think you're looking for pic related. It even has the correct skintone for generic bank robbing thug

Two JUST came out and the other has barely had time to hit most stores. Calm down.
>>
>>6223223
No, what you have there is something with small feet, poor elbow articulation, a waste of a neck joint, shitty aesthetics, and a horrible cereal box with a dildo attached.
By comparison, Star-Lord Vol 2 has double-elbows, decent colors and styling, and... is just shit.

Never saw Space Venom in stores in my area. 3 Targets, 2 TRUs, 5 Walmarts, 3 Walgreens and none ever stocked it. Glad walmart.com put them on sale last xmas for 10.99 each. Bought the whole set and had them ship it free to the walmart down the street from me. They even gave me 2 extra figs.

Will any stores be restocking sandman wave with gotg and xmen being distributed? Never saw any sandman wave anywhere around here.

My first success with brick seek. Scored black spooder, shocker, and green goblin at a walmart nearest me with the highest stock count. Nothing on the pegs but spotted the case in a stockers cart. Asked the dude if we could pop it open. Boom.

All 3 18.84 each. Feels good man.
>>
>>6223641
The pics don't do it justice, in person it looks way better. I really liked the figure as it it was but the dry brushing really brings out a lot of the sculpting detail that goes unnoticed on it. I'm working on an ice sled for him now.

>>>6223098
Hasbro uses the print right. They apply a mask first to the face, giving him a solid look to it and use the printing process to act as the faded straggly hair around the beard and eyebrows.
Figuarts use the print process as a substitute for paint, making the face look blurry and faded.

Hasbro's stepping up on their paint apps, but it really makes me wonder how cheap the print process is if Hasbro is using that AND spray apps and tampos.

>Why did I do this to myself?
Probably because you live somewhere like me and a few weeks late from BBTS beats never ever in stores.

Honestly, as much of a fuckface as Hasbro has been the last two years, I'm deliberately buying Takara/Bandai from BBTS instead at every opportunity. The only time I'll even consider the domestic is when WalFuck does an online 50% off sale because they're too stupid to distribute to stores.

The transluscentness of the original figure hides a lot of the details. The drybrushing helps bring them out a bit.

thats pretty neat. Did the head go right on or did you have to alter it? Also, what head did you use?
>>
>>6224328
Thanks.

The head is from the Jubilee wave unmasked Wolverine.

The head needs to be heated, and popped. It's on a tiny mushroom peg. You will break it, if you don't heat it.

The hole is way too small for OML's neck ball. You'll have to drill or dremel it out. I heated the head with a hair dryer, and drilled it by hand with increasingly larger bits, until it fit nicely on OML's neck ball.

>>
>>6223738

They did re-release the first GotG wave. Which is kinda absurd to me. Looks like IM is still at 2 for those shipments. Like.... 3 different kinds of starlords on shelves? Maybe they'll sell, maybe gotg is REALLY popular and having even more of it is good. I don't think Ive seen much in the ways of 2.5 inch that hasbro was pushing, so yea...

Hasbro officially HAS re-released stuff now. If only we could get stuff we want to see re-released.

Given the amount of orange in play on the figure, it's most likely the fleshtone is paint.

Also, if her hands don't use the same tilt axes as Angela, it'll be bad news for those shotties.

Same here, however the only thing stocked at my Walgreen's is Punisher.

>>
>>6224955

Sandman wave a plenty here in Toronto
>>
>>6224960
What stores?
>>
>>6224933
Agreed.
I'm considering busting out my casting equipment to do the following:
1. Mold and cast ring/pegs
2. Mold complete hands with gaps filled around ring area
3. Place newly cast ring/peg into hand mold at orientation perpendicular to original
4. Cast new hand with new ring orientation, trim plastic around ring to gain articulation back

The only problems I foresee involve proper venting of the resin, and maybe proper mixing of dye into the resin. Maybe I'll give it a go in another few months.

Because that string is a dcpi as labeled. You can use the dcpi for target. Walmart goes by skus which is nice because every figure has it's own sku i think. Anyways use the search feature there at the lookup, search legends (character name) gives the best results. Click it, the sku will fill the field enter zip. Check a few of the figures of the same wave to get an idea on stock. Also its not a guarantee. The stock could be in back. Also a walmart near me uses all marvel legends on the same sku for whatever reason so i went thinking they had a cyclops as it had 10 but it was all old icemen and phoenix.

I hope they add a walgreens and TRU lookup tool. Hopefully thats in the works.

cost and serious QC issues it brought. Toybiz was Marvel so costs were more manageable. SHIELD vs Sinister Six posts incoming

for most of my life my toy collecting was limited strictly to TMNT

Over the last decade I started finding interest in various other linse, until finally I broke down and began collecting non tmnt figures, but still fairly few and far between. (nor do i buy much tmnt either. I might buy 1-5 new figures a year)

I have a handful of marvel legends, pizza spidey was my first. As I learned the line I discovered there was a HUGE list of figures available, and new ones come out regularly, so i made a rule:

>I can only buy figures I see in person, no online ordering

>latest ghost rider released
>temptation.jpg
>"I can only buy it in person"
>hunt various stores literally to this day
>never see him, not once. see other figures of his line, but never him.
>check today, 50 on ebay, 67 on amazon
>deadpool with shitton accessories released
>never seen in stores, price immediately going up
>black suit spidey released

I'm so torn. If I go down this road god knows when it'll stop, but I'm never going to see these damn things in store...

considering buying 2 of each to later sell the extra to regain the costs

any tips for finding in store? How do you use that sku locator thing to hunt?

There's your problem. You're an idiot.

With toy distribution being spotty and web shops and sellers being a dime a dozen, you're being a fool for fishing in a tiny pond when you have access to the goddamn ocean.

If you're going to be stupid enough to think you can hawk scalper priced figures at an even higher price later, please just burn your money right now. Heck you'd probably fare better by preordering a full case and selling your unwanted pieces.

I feel like allowing myself to order these all willy nilly online whenever i see one I liek will be opening pandoras box, and emptying my wallet.

while it's good to sit there and say I have the self control to avoid spening like an idiot, I know full well at the end of the year I'll look at my collection and regret half of the purchases. For some reason ML gets my interest not because of the characters themselves having any vested interest from me, but simply because they appeal to some part of my inner child "these toys look cool"

>>6227729
>If you're going to be stupid enough to think you can hawk scalper priced figures at an even higher price later

the idea is more "buy when they release and are only 25-30 online, then sell off the extra when they spike at 50-60 to balance out the additional money im going to be spending/wasting now that i allow myself to buy online"

also
Me: Hey guys, so I decided to only buy local. but its not letting me get what I want so I'm trying to decide if I should start shopping online knowing it may lead to further, wasteful purchases, thoughts?
you: herp derp ur an idiot is easier to get more online moron

You seem to have completely missed the point of my rule and my post. The problem isnt that I'm "fishing in a pond instead of an ocean". I'm obviously aware the pool is smaller for local shops vs webshops. the entire point is I'm trying to find a way to legitimize moving to the ocean in minds eye. take ur fucking meds

>>6228501
That's how most BAFs of popular characters are.
>>
>>6228501
At least he's a big guy which can justify the price some what . Wait till you see how much mantis goes for once that wave is out.
>>
>>6228451
Anybody know what the most expensive/rarest Legends and BAFs are? I missed out on Foom, Ronan and those early Spidey/FF/Hulk/X-Men Legends.
>>
>>6228509
What about Vulture's wings?
>>
I live in a town in North Carolina where nobody collects anything so I always get top pick of everything new usually, but can't fuckin find old man Logan anywhere. Found Lady Deadpool first thing and a Cable, but no Logan or Colossus.

Hey guys am I tripping or was the X-Men legends Deadpool way more expensive a couple days ago than the $25 it's going for on eBay right now?

I've been wondering if Kmart or Toys r Us would have anything cool, they're practically deserted here.
>>
>>6228517
Online retailers started getting their full Deadpool cases finally so that should've driven the price down
>>
>>6228520
EB Games started getting cases of Deadpool last month or so.
>>
>>6228262
Thanks! Looking online, he's expensive af (and the one I posted is getting up there too). All I really want the head for a custom, which sucks. You wouldn't happen to know of a site that sells loose toy parts for such a purpose, would you?
>>
>>6228530
Commander Rogers is expensive? I bought it like two years ago for like $7 jeez
>>
>>6228532
He's STARTS at $40 on Amazon... is that considered expensive for an old Marvel Legend?
>>
>>6228534
Amazon prices are not a good indicator of secondary market value

That whole wave from what I remember ended up at clearance prices. I bought like one or two when they came out and then bought the rest a couple years later for $10 each or less

Disregard this, I suck cocks
Just found somebody selling the head on ebay.
>>
>>6228513
I don't see vulture's wings being that expensive compared to other BAFs, unless the movie is just insanely good, which it won't be.
>>
>>6228578
Because it's a movie toy and costly to complete, it'll probably go for a lot.
>>
>>6228578

BAFs always tend to go for 40+. The more pieces the more money, way it always is.
>>
>>6228501
>why is Dormammu ML BAF so expensive?
Because in order to complete him you need to open a bunch of unsellable figures. If a guy has a Dr Strange case he can probably sell a couple at full retail but has to take a hit on the rest, their only redeeming quality being the Dormammu parts.
So consider a case is about $120, one or two sellable figs, need to recoup the rest on the baf parts.

My Target never restock on ML and the second closest one is about a 19 minute drive to San Jose.

I decided to shell out 65 dollars for Old Man Logan and Colossus on eBay. I figured those extra 25 bucks would have gone to tax and gas money if I continued searching my area.
>>
>>6228782
Alternate head and hands would've been good
>>
>>6228793
Yeah to both of these. A set of extra claw-less fists seemed like a no-brainer after juggernaut wave one got them, I was actually kind of surprised when the oml figure got revealed and he didn't have them. And I really would have liked a Huge Jackedman head, but I can see that being a licensing problem.
>>
>>6228788
You could've just held your horses and waited for them to show up in more than one store
>>
Picked up Vol. 2 Star-lord and Drax today for $11.99 each at Walgreen's. They rung up $20 each but I told them about the 40% off sign and they lowered the price.
>>
>>6228788
just wait a month and buy them on amazon or ebay
no reason to pay more than $22 for a ML that came out less than a couple months ago
>>
>>6228782
There are other types of accessories than weapons.

Alt hands(Old Man Logan's whole deal was the refusal to use his claws, but he doesn't come with regular hands? Come on), alt head, etc.

Just recently drank the Marvel Legends Kool-Aid. These are all the ones I have. Just picked up Groot and Yondu today. Yondu rang up for $15 at TRU as a Dr. Strange figure. Want to get whatever X-Men ones I can get my hands on. I think I saw Rogue and Phoenix at Walgreens. Might get those before the sale ends.

Why does Yondu come with a Hentai tentacle?

>>
>>6228788
I know the struggle man, I'm in the bay too and it sucks here. This is usually the worst areas for hunting. Tons of collectors and scalpers already snatched up everything. All I managed to find was a lone polaris. I'm just going to be patient and buy a case mid april.
>>
>>6228820
I'm not that anon but you think they'll go down when the hypes over? I want those two figures as well, not sure if they'll go back to normal some day or only keep going up from here
>>
>>6228964
It happened for I think most big draw figures.

Especially with how case revisions or single fig cases are handled now.

The initial rush is the most expensive time to buy, unless the figures have some level of exclusivity.
>>
>>6224920
So I snagged Namor,Punisher, Antman, Black Cat, and Cable for 11.99 each. They had Angela, Nova and a mis-shappen Darkhawk too but those were 20
>>
>>6228798
>>6228822
The Old Man Logan figure is based more on his ANAD appearance than from his original storyline. So while it would have been nice to get some extras, it's hardly expected since it's not really based on his original appearance.

ayyy yet another /toy/ soldier who lives in the bay area reporting in
Not super into MLs myself but I feel for you guys.
>>
For you LA anons out there i spent the night going to walgreens in sketchy black areas, where no autist has gone before in hopes of finding untouched troves of MLs. Went to the two by usc and the ones in lennox, hawthorne, inglewood even the one on crenshaw. If you arent from here these are areas of south central that are pretty sketchy with black and latino gang activity. For my effort, i found nothing.... Just pretty much all valkeries and blizzard from hulkbuster wave, spider women, jack, morbius etc.

I wouldnt reccomend it.
>>
>>6229029
I feel you man. Fellow LA anon here who has been on the hunt. I think the F&S scalpers beat us to the punch. Today I saw some figures from the new GOTG wave for the first time! ...but it was just Star-Lord and Kid Nova, who I'm not that enthused about. So I left em.
>>
>>6229031
I went saturday to F&S and yeah they had pretty much everything there. No one had cyclops, though I went late and they were likely all bought but still surprising.
>>
>>6229058
>>6229045
>>6229031
South orange county. Some frank n sons scalpers live here, and I've seen them in the act of clearing stores out.

Our toys r us will just turn over unshelved merchandise to them at store opening. That's how entire stocks of masterpiece transformers disappear...

I saw one at toys r us once when the star wars black series kicked off with an antire cart full of sandtroopers.

I just don't count on finding anything new in stores.
>>
>>6229093
Yeah honestly i just buy everything online now or if i have to a whole case. I still get the occasional luck at a target but for the most part online. I used to go to F&S a lot but now its maybe every other month or more. I sometimes get good deals there, plus the no tax thing makes over paying for an ML easier to swallow. Honestly though online takes some of the thrill of the hunt out of it and somehow makes it feel sort of empty. F&S can sort of fill that void a bit. Theres no real winning here I realize.
>>
>>6223223
where is the potbelly he had in the movie?
>>
>>6228788
I hear you (east coast here). Back around 2004, I did the math and a $20 TransFormer was costing $80 in wasted gas. Suddenly the $50 Takara version wasn't so outrageous.

Just one of those experiences that later helped confuse me when I couldn't sell toys at retail prices. People will waste tons of money driving around, they're buy entire cases full of unwanted figures, and they'll feed scalpers an arm and a leg. But they won't pay retail price at a comic-con, no sir.
>>
Its a long shot but hey, no harm in asking right?

I recently ordered the Face Off iron man figure on ebay and awaiting its arrival, but i'm wondering if he is too small when stood next to the Red Skull/Onslaught Cap. I have the face off cap but i'm thinking with replacing him. So could someone take a photo of Face Off Cap, Red Skull Cap and Face Off Iron Man together so i get a rough idea on how their heights compare?
>>
>>6228958

I never make it down south, but Im in the north bay and get to the east bay too. I try not to "hunt" myself. I never really make special trips too often, unless there's a sale (like the recent walgreens one) but there's whole waves Ive never seen. I do go the store though. I thought nothing near me ever got the hulkbuster wave at all, till I started to see War Machine and Thundra.

Idk who is scalping near me. I mean, I never see anyone on ebay selling from my area, I know pretty much all the comic shops and they' don't bother.

I mean, it's weird to say "scalpers" when its really probably just collectors. There's 300k people within 20 minutes of each target near me. There's bound to be collectors. San Jose has like 1.2 million people. The Bay area is just so spread out and people are constantly all over it.

Good luck with the Walgreen's sale. The only ones I've been able to get at $11.99 are "Avengers" (Red Skull wave, Hulkbuster wave, Punisher, Namor), and Spider-man figures (Hobgoblin, Green Goblin, and Abomination waves, Black Ant, Yellow DD).
>>6228814
Nice. Every cashier at my stores reference the coupon pamphlets they have at the register, cross check the computer, look at the barcodes and say "no."
>>
>>6229237
I live in the ABQ area, every store near me gets hit by the guy who owns Astro Zombie comic shop downtown, he gets his little troll to roll around town and buy up the hard to find and chase figures then sell them at a higher price.

I used to be a walmart wage slave and he had several people there he would toss kickbacks too. Twenty bucks if you put a case off to the side for him, so a lot of new stuff never sees the shelf of walmart or target.

I stopped going to franks for figures when I found out how much the dealers work with each other to price fix.
>>
>>6229491
The Hela in the Ragnarok wave is probably from the boxset but I hope it comes with an alternate Cate head.
>>
I finally got a legends cyclops, and he's great, but also kind of a mess. I was expecting to have to glue down the leg straps, but his chest harness is fucked too. It's too tight to actually buckle it at the back so it just kinda flops around.

It's still one of the better shameless buckycap reuses though. I know he's got a pretty simple design, visually, but that does the toy a lot of favors.
>>
>>6229500
Getting the one from the boxset would be neat, but I'd still like an MCU Hela just because we don't get enough movie villains, not to mention as you said, that Cate Blanchett head sculpt.
>>
>>6229459
I dont understand this at all. How much profit margin could they actually have? 5$ a figure? Less if they are bribing retailers for cases? Paying someone to drive around or yourself go to places at 6 am before opening to score fresh cases off a truck. Seems like a lot of work for not much money desu. Make one bad speculation and boom you are sitting on 50+ spawn or POTF figures still from the 90s eating any profit. Maybe thats why all the Franks guys look tired and miserable.
>>
>>6229658
The margin is low. The best store in my area does not do this crap, but their competitors do. They run all over trying to clear stores out, he just orders cases and moves figures when he gets them. Doesn't mark up as high as them, just sells competitively. I love those guys.
>>
>>6229658

Yea, this isn't the 90's anymore when this shit was a really good move. Every retail chain has a website, the figures are so accessible. I don't think Ive ever had to pay for more than retail for a figure, ever. Unless I passed on, but even then, I'll just buy it loose off ebay. None of the shops near me pull this. I DO remember a couple shops near me doing this in the 90's. With Toybiz and star wars shit, swooping up variants and shortpacked figs.

Im surprised a store still finds it profitable, but I blame the customer base this point. If they can't wise up and stop buying from him, well.....that's why they'll keep doing it.
>>
There was a guy a couple threads ago who said he boiled angela's hair to free up the neck articulation, how'd you get it to stay? I tried to do the same thing to rogue with a hairdryer and cold water, but it keeps going back down.
>>
>>6229658
Go there and you can see he has just gaggles of Star wars figures that have been sitting around since the prequels.

>>6229705
This town is odd, they will go to one shop and pay double prices for Revan at astro rape palace but refuse to hit one walmart early.

I've been trying to migrate to around Denver but moving sucks and it cost way too much no days. Cost of living sucks and the people are shitty.

Another LA anon here. Any of you the scumbag who did this with Angela at the La Cienaga TRU?? I got excited seeing her on the peg, started walking to check out then realized the box was open and the titus part was missing. A shame this one is usually chill and i have never seen scumbagging here. Theres one in glendale with 10-15 figs missing BAF parts.
La Cienaga also had a few drax and star lords nothing else from the wave and no groots.

The TRU on jefferson is still pretty beat. They havent had any BS in forever and it is down to only 2 pegs.

They did however have 3 black suit spideys so if you want one go grab one nothing else though.
>>
>>6230200
Culver City jefferson Target also had all of Vol 1 GOTG except for drax and nova. 1 rocket which I wanted but that whole wave kept ringing up at 23.99. Fucking rip off. I put it and hid it in back of a peg if any anon wants it. That whole wave looks dated and shitty now though. Im happier with my EE comic GOTG anyways.

Ive got the red version and he had the same problem. I folded up paper tower strips to stuff between the wings and keep them separated and used a blow dryer to soften them up.
